Detectives from the National Crime Agency (NCA) said the men were arrested as part of  Operation Stovewood, an independent investigation into non-familial child sexual exploitation and abuse in the town between 1997 and 2013.

A spokesman for the NCA said the men were arrested at separate addresses in Rotherham on suspicion of conspiracy to rape and have been taken to a police station in South Yorkshire where they will be interviewed.

No further information about those arrested is being provided.

Operation Stovewood is ongoing and currently has 42 suspects.

The inquiry team has identified 134 victims and survivors so far.

The NCA said there are currently 17 distinct major investigations within the overall investigation, and so far 14 people have been arrested.

Nine people previously arrested by Operation Stovewood remain on bail while NCA investigations continue.

There is no indication here whether the suspects are all Pakistani in origin or not. But I would give pretty good odds if I were a betting person.
