Harlan County authorities said they arrested Christopher Shipman, 44, on Monday, Nov. 17, after he was indicted for a second time by a Bell County Grand Jury.

According to the Bell County Sheriff’s Office, Shipman was indicted on two counts of sodomy and sexual abuse of a child under 12 in August. He was subsequently released on a $250,000 bond, barred from contacting the victim, and placed on a curfew.

Court documents show that Shipman was accused of reoffending on Thursday, Nov. 13, and was charged with the following:

  • Two counts of first-degree sexual abuse of a child under 12
  • Two counts of first-degree sodomy of a child under 12
  • First-degree strangulation

I hate that child sex abusers are released on bond. It's apparent that judges are not familiar with the concept that sin is progressive. This pervert went from sodomy to strangulation in a few months. It's madness! Lock up child sex abusers at every opportunity.

He’s been lodged in the Bell County Detention Center without bond.

Shipman is set to be arraigned on Feb. 20, 2026.

HERNANDO COUNTY, Fla. — Nathan Holmberg, 36, appeared in court Tuesday, where he pleaded not guilty in two of the child sex crime cases filed against him. He is accused of committing a series of horrific crimes involving young children and now faces a total of 90 charges across six separate cases.

Holmberg will return to court on Dec. 2 for a pretrial hearing in two of the cases and to be formally arraigned in the other four. He is currently being held in jail without bond.

The investigation into Holmberg began in October, when a good Samaritan provided detectives with a disturbing video allegedly showing him abusing a child.

Hernando County Sheriff Al Nienhuis said Holmberg admitted to creating the videos. When asked if there was any child pornography downloaded on his phone, Holmberg answered, "No, I make my own," according to the sheriff.

After his arrest, investigators recovered 30 electronic devices, which they say led to additional charges. In total, detectives said they found about 650 pictures and videos of child sexual abuse and are continuing to search the devices.

Holmberg was previously arrested in the Jacksonville area on sexual battery charges. Neinhuis said the arrest affidavit for that case "read almost verbatim" to what Hernando deputies found on Holmberg's cell phone. He was ultimately convicted of child abuse in 2012 and was not designated as a sexual offender or predator.

"These are very young victims. Most of his victims were between 3 years old and the oldest was 10, with the majority being in the middle of that," Neinhuis said.

The sheriff said anyone who knows any potential victims is urged to contact law enforcement at tips@hernandosheriff.org or 352-797-3899. Neinhuis said Holmberg has lived in Jacksonville, New Port Richey, St. Petersburg, Largo and most recently in Weeki Wachee.

Since the case spans multiple judicial circuits, it's being handled by a special statewide task force involving the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office, the State Attorney for the Fifth Judicial Circuit and the Attorney General’s Office of Statewide Prosecution.

Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier said the state intends to seek the death penalty, calling the crimes “unspeakable” and emphasizing that the investigation is far from over.
