A 40-year-old man has been extradited from the Netherlands to Northern Ireland to stand trial over cases relating to images of child sex abuse.
The first case relates to 27 offences which include possessing, making and distributing indecent images of children.
The second case involves 108 offences that include possessing, making and distributing indecent images of children and inciting the sexual assault of a child.
The offences allegedly happened in the Lurgan area in 2014. The man skipped Crown Court bail in late 2020 and has been sought for arrest since, police said.
He was extradited to Northern Ireland on Friday and is due to appear before Lisburn Magistrates' Court on Saturday.
Sgt Davey from the Police Service of Northern Ireland's international policing unit said: "Our message is clear to anyone who fails to abide by their bail conditions that they will be located, arrested and returned before the courts."
Survivors praised for bravery as Suffolk sex offender jailed for crimes 30 years ago
The two victims of a child sex offender have been praised for their bravery in putting him behind bars more than 30 years after he committed his crimes.
Mark French, aged 61, formerly of Newbourne Gardens inFelixstowe, Suffolk, was found guilty of two counts of rape of a child and 10 counts of indecent assault on children in May following a 13-day trial.
The offences took place over a 10-year period and involved two girls.
He was jailed for 19 years when he appeared at Ipswich Crown Court and must serve an extra two years on extended licence.
Det Con Gemma Spink said: “No sentence will heal the trauma that French inflicted on his victims, who were children at the time of the offending and who have shown great bravery to come forward to report the crimes against them and see the case to its conclusion.
“I hope this outcome will encourage other victims of non-recent sexual abuse to feel confident about coming forward to police and assure them that they will be listened to by officers.”
French was also given a restraining order against both victims and made subject of an indefinite sexual harm prevention order.
BERHAMPUR: Tension prevailed at a village in Chikiti block of Ganjam district on Saturday after allegations surfaced that headmaster of the local school allegedly sexually harassed a 14-year-old girl.
Sources said, the headmaster, due to retire next month, allegedly molested a Class VIII student of the school on Friday. He reportedly called her to his office chamber on some pretext and caught hold of her. The girl managed to free herself and ran out. Later, he allegedly warned her not to disclose the incident. While the survivor remained silent, her classmates who learned about the incident informed village elders.
On Saturday, after the school began, hundreds of villagers gathered at the premises and locked the gates, confining teachers and students inside. On being alerted, the headmaster, who was on his way to school, fled the place.
Teachers immediately informed Golonthara police which rushed to the spot and pacified the villagers and assured stringent action against the headmaster. Police also launched a search for the headmaster.
The girl’s parents declined to lodge a police complaint fearing social stigma.
Block education officer PB Majhi said he has not received any formal complaint.
Man who raped 2 children, sexually abused dog gets 40 years in prison
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — An Oregon City man who was convicted of raping two children and sexually assaulting a dog was sentenced on Thursday.
Edward Jones was sentenced to 40 years in prison after being found guilty of the multiple instances of sexual abuse and possessing “a huge trove of child pornography,” the Clackamas County District Attorney’s Office said.
“The victims are now 15 and 12. The sexual abuse of the younger child began at age three to four years old,” the DA’s office said. “Investigators discovered more than 10,000 images of child pornography in Jones’ possession including a video of him having sex with the older victim.”
The mother of the two children was allegedly aware of the sexual abuse. After being charged with two counts of first-degree criminal mistreatment last month, she has a pending court case against her, officials said.
As for Jones, he pleaded guilty to two counts of first-degree rape, two counts of second-degree rape, first- and second-degree sodomy, two counts of sexually assaulting an animal and three counts of first-degree encouraging sexual abuse of a child.
Elementary teacher jailed for 215 years after filming himself sexually abusing students
Former teacher Kim Wilson was sentenced after he was convicted of multiple counts of disturbing lewd acts on children

The sentenced was handed down on Friday after Kim Wilson, 64, pleaded guilty to nine counts of committing lewd acts on a child in February. Wilson was a former teacher at Del Paso Heights Elementary School.
Prosecutors said he confessed to having multiple victims. The Sacramento District Attorney's office said Wilson had set up a broadcasting club for students, with its own designated room.
He would take female students to the room alone and commit sexual acts on them, often capturing photos or recording the incidents, the office said in a statement.

While most of the sexual assaults took place in the school broadcasting room, some victims were also assaulted at Wilson's home during events he hosted. After learning about the sexual assaults, Sacramento police detectives conducted a search of Wilson's home.
According to the Sacramento District Attorney's office, authorities discovered a number of disturbing items including: "child-sized sex toys, child-sized artificial genitalia, and a child-sized torso with artificial genitalia. Additionally, detectives located a substantial amount of VHS tapes, DVDs and other digital storage devices containing videos depicting Wilson sexually assaulting his students. The videos depicted conduct spanning multiple years with numerous students."
Multiple decades is more like it!
"The recorded content also showed Wilson forcing students to look into the camera while saying and depicting sexual acts," the District Attorney's office added.
Under California law, Wilson will be eligible for parole after serving 20 years of his 215-year-to-life sentence. According to court documents, Wilson has been behind bars since his arrest in late January 2023.
He ought never to see the light of day again!
Taking into account time already served, he'll need to complete 17 more years before becoming eligible for parole.
Wilson and his previous employer, the Twin Rivers Unified School District, are facing a another lawsuit filed in June 2023 by a female student who claimed she was "physically and sexually assaulted, sexually harassed, molested, threatened and intimidated" by the now-incarcerated educator during school hours on the Del Paso Heights Elementary School campus, according to the complaint obtained by USA TODAY.
The same case accuses the Twin Rivers Unified School District of "mishandling student complaints and failing to document, investigate and report complaints" of sexual misconduct by the now-former district employee.
The student, who was just seven years old at the time, claimed the abuse took place when she was in second grade during the 2013-2014 school year, according to the complaint.
The lawsuit also alleges that Wilson frequently gave "frontal hugs to female students on school grounds" and regularly pulled the accuser and other girls "out of their scheduled class periods and/or recess periods" to invite them into a "secluded and unsupervised broadcast room" on the elementary school's campus.
Attorney Lauren Cerri, who represented a different student in a similar lawsuit against Wilson and the district, told The Sacramento Bee, "Sadly there's a repeated pattern of schools putting their image and reputations over the safety of students, turning a blind eye to complaints and ignoring red flags."
School and District administrators need to pay a price for this!
Convicted sex offender in Louisiana agrees to be castrated by state: reports
(NewsNation) — A convicted sex offender in Louisiana has been sentenced to physical and chemical castration as part of a plea deal, according to reports.
The district attorney for Vernon Parish in Louisiana confirmed the man’s sentence to People and local outlet KPLC 7.
On Tuesday, Thomas Allen McCartney, 37, pleaded guilty to attempted first-degree rape of a child under the age of 13. The guilty plea concerns an arrest in 2023 after McCartney was caught “engaging in sexual contact” with a 7-year-old girl, according to reports.
McCartney has a history of child sex abuse, with a conviction for aggravated rape in 2011. KPLC reported that he was also arrested in 2006 and 2010 on sexual abuse charges against minors.
In addition to castration, McCartney’s plea deal includes 40 years in state prison.
“This is a horrific crime that never should have happened,” Vernon Parish District Attorney Terry Lambright said in a statement obtained by KPLC. “Thomas McCartney is a predator that needs to be locked away from others in our community.”
In 2024, Louisiana became the first state to allow surgical castration to be used as a punishment for sex crimes against minors. Surgical castration, unlike chemical castration which is achieved via medications which decrease sex drive, is an invasive procedure which can involve removal of the testicles.
“This is a consequence,” Republican state Sen. Valarie Hodges said during a committee hearing on the bill in April 2024, the Associated Press reported. “It’s a step over and beyond just going to jail and getting out.”
A babysitter who wanted to gain access to young special needs children so that her pedophile boyfriend could abuse them has been sentenced to 100 years in prison.
Brittney Lyon, 31, procured at least four young girls, two aged three and two aged seven, for her partner Samuel Cabrera, 31, to molest while she participated in 2016.
San Diego County District Attorney Summer Stephan released a statement about the horrific case on Thursday, saying Lyon had been sentenced to 100 years or life in jail.
Stephan said that two of the girls had an autism diagnosis, and one was non-verbal. She slammed Lyon's abuse as 'despicable' and 'ruthless'.
Lyon, of San Marcos, California, pleaded guilty in May to two felony counts of lewd act upon a child and two counts of forcible lewd act upon a child.
She also admitted to several counts of kidnapping, residential burglary and sexually assaulting multiple victims.
Meanwhile, her pedophile boyfriend, Cabrera, was previously convicted by a jury in 2019 and sentenced to eight life terms without parole in 2021.
Officials became aware of the abuse one of the seven-year-old girls told her mother in 2016 that she no longer wanted to go anywhere with Lyon, who was a family friend.

Police investigated Lyon and Cabrera, and found a double-locked box in his car containing six computer hard drives containing hundreds of videos of the abuse.
They showed the couple sexually abusing the children and even drugging them, while 'using extreme cruelty and brutality', according to the attorney's office.
'In addition to the videos of the young victims, there were dozens of videos that Lyon had taken surreptitiously of women and girls in changing rooms at clothing stores, bathrooms and locker rooms at various North County businesses,' Stephan said.
After the first child came forward, police tracked down parents who had hired Lyon, who had posted her babysitting services online.
The other three victims had responded to Lyon's ad saying she wanted to work with special needs children specifically.
Police also seized phones belonging to Lyon and Cabrera, and found messages showing them regularly coordinating access to the children at their houses.
'Today's just sentence ends a despicable chapter that has destroyed innocence and devastated families in San Diego County,' DA Stephan said on Thursday.
'This defendant was ruthless in posing as a trustworthy babysitter and recruiting autistic children, only to commit the most atrocious acts upon them.'

Though Stephan sentenced Lyon to 100 years in jail, under current laws she will be eligible for parole at age 50, meaning she will only have served 28 years.
Stephan is pushing legislation to exclude convicted sex offenders from the elderly parole laws under the proposed Senate Bill 286.
The bill was tabled by State Senator Brian Jones, but it is currently in the suspense file of the Senate Appropriations Committee meaning it won't be debated for a while.
Jones has cited Lyon's case to argue for his proposed legislation to be expedited.
'After the horrific sexual crimes Brittney Lyon committed against children, District Attorney Summer Stephan did her job in securing a just sentence of 100 years-to-life,' he said.
'Now, it's time for the state to do its job and honor that sentence for the sake of the victims.
'Shamefully, a loophole in California law could allow Lyon to walk free after serving less than a third of her sentence.
'Senate Bill 286 would close that loophole and ensure violent child rapists serve their full sentences.
'I'm calling on my Democrat colleagues to stop protecting predators, move this important bill forward, and deliver justice for victims.'
Former doctor jailed for child sex offences
A former hospital consultant who had more than 90,000 images of children has been jailed for more than three years.
Dr Matthew Isles, who worked as an ear, nose and throat specialist, had built up a "staggeringly vast" collection of indecent images over five years, Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court was told on Wednesday.
The 53-year-old also tried to engage in sexual conversation with someone he believed was a 14-year-old boy, the court heard.
Judge Richard McConaghy jailed Isles for three years and 10 months in relation to 13 offences in all.
The consultant, who had worked at the Royal Stoke University Hospital and County Hospital in Stafford and had a 22-year career in the armed forces before that, admitted the charges at a previous hearing.
They included two counts of attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child, voyeurism, three counts of making indecent images of children, possession of a paedophile manual, three counts of distributing indecent images of children, possession of prohibited images of children and two counts of possessing extreme pornographic images.
"Each and every image depicts a real child suffering real sexual abuse, some of it of the most depraved kind imaginable," the judge said.
Prosecution counsel Hunter Gray told the court that Isles engaged in "sexually explicit conversation of a grooming nature" with an undercover officer posing as a 14-year-old boy on a gay dating site between 25 January and 6 February.
While he initially ended the chat after finding out the age of the boy he believed he was speaking to, saying he did not want to be sent to prison, Isles later continued the conversation, which involved chatting about "hooking up".
When officers visited Isles' address in Whiston, near Cheadle, Staffordshire, on 10 February, a large quantity of items were seized, including more than 90,000 images and videos on different devices.
He also had voyeuristic images in a folder called "Spycam", featuring him and a woman he had filmed without her knowledge or consent.
Also on his devices were a "paedophile manual" with instructions on how to abuse children and images that had been distributed on at least three different platforms.
'Plainly disgusting'
Mr Gray said a "high volume" of images were found, including 1,978 of the most serious category A images, 1,317 category B images, 2,134 category C images and 459 prohibited images of children, with many more that had not been categorised.
In police interview, Isles admitted having an "addiction to sex, pornography and child abuse material and an addiction to collecting child sex abuse images" over the space of five years, Mr Gray said.
That is roughly 50 images per day for 5 years. It's a wonder he had time to be a doctor.
Defence barrister Phil Bradley KC said Isles had made efforts to address his behaviour.
"His career is in tatters, he simply cannot go back. The impact of his offending is felt by his family and friends who continue to support him," Mr Bradley said.
"Some of the material was plainly disgusting, there is no getting behind that. Real children and real people were involved and concerned."
Judge McConaghy said Isles, who waved at a woman in the public gallery as he was sent down, must serve half of his sentence in custody before he could be released on licence.
A sexual harm prevention order without limit of time was also imposed.
The University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust (UHNM) said in February that it was fully co-operating with the police in their investigation and has since confirmed that Isles was no longer one of its employees.
