State's Children's Task Force arrest 3 more perverts - Washington

EAGLE GROVE, Iowa | An Eagle Grove man accused of sexually abusing three children has been sent to prison for up to 10 years.

After his release, Jeddy Nicholas, 37, will be under the supervision of the Iowa Department of Corrections for the rest of his life. He also must register as a sex offender.

He received his sentence in Wright County District Court Tuesday after entering an Alford plea in April to one felony count of third-degree sexual abuse and two felony counts of lascivious acts with a child.

In an Alford plea a defendant does not admit guilt but acknowledges prosecutors can likely prove the charge.

Crazy! If prosecutors can prove his guilt isn't he then guilty? Isn't the admission of guilt a prerequisite for parole in most cases? Why then allow him to have a significantly reduced sentence when he doesn't admit his guilt? Avoiding a trial is a great idea when feasible, but this seems more like selling the farm.

I'm happy he will be under supervision for the rest of his life; I wonder if all perverts should be?

Nicholas was sentenced to up to 10 years in prison on each count. The sentences are to be served concurrently.

Concurrent sentences - yes, you sold the farm, and the horses, cows and tractors.

Three $1,000 fines were suspended. Nicholas has been ordered to pay restitution but the amount has not been determined yet.

Three felony counts and two misdemeanor counts, all related, were dismissed through a plea bargain.

Officials with the Wright County Attorney's Office say Nicholas victimized three children over the fall and summer of 2016 in Eagle Grove.

Registered sex offender back behind bars in Grady County for child sexual abuse

CHICKASHA, Okla. - Charged with one count of child sexual abuse, Wallace Tommy Tucker is back behind bars at the Grady County jail.

This isn’t Tucker’s first offense, which is why authorities say they’re glad he’s locked up.

“He's behind bars. This is one person we don't have to worry about molesting another child,” said Undersheriff Nathan Pyle with Grady County.

Tucker is a registered sex offender. His first known offense was back in 1999.

“He was actually arrested in California some time ago for lewd acts with a minor," Pyle said.

The victim at that time was only 6-years-old. Fast forward to today and Tucker is back in jail for sexual abuse to a child.

According to the latest affidavit, the child was 10-years-old at the time of the alleged abuse back in March 2016.

The report says the boy would often go to Tucker's home where Tucker allegedly inappropriately touched him.

“And obviously, this is a pattern that he has decided to take. I don't think there's going to be any way to stop him than putting him behind bars,” Pyle said.

Neighbors say Tucker was always upfront about his past.

“When he first moved in, he got a hold of me and my dad and some other people and said, ‘hey I need to talk to y'all. I'm letting you guys know right now, I'm a registered sex offender,'” said Justin VanOrder.

Vanorder has nephews, and he says they know not to go near Tucker's home.

“And he said, I can't have kids near me, I can't have them on my property," Vanorder said.

It was on Tucker's property, the reports stated, that he abused the young boy and possibly his brothers as well.

So, how is it the boys were allowed by their parents or guardians to go to Tucker's house? I think social services may need to investigate this.

Deputies had just arrested Tucker three years ago for registration violations.

“He was supposed to be registering here, that was in 2009, I don't believe he registered until around 2014,” Pyle said.

Tucker is looking at 25 years or a life prison sentence if convicted.

Child Sexual Abuse
BY: NEWSON6.COM

TULSA, Oklahoma - A 34-year-old man who Tulsa Police suspect physically and sexually abused several children has now been charged.

Prosecutors have charged Anthony Henson, who was arrested on May 23rd, with five counts of child sexual abuse and two counts of child abuse by injury.

Henson's arrest report shows he admitted to physically abusing two of the children, but didn't admit to the sexual abuse.

In the report, a girl told police, Anthony Henson forced her to watch pornography and then sexually abused her.

Child sex abuse suit targets Boy Scouts, Athens churches

Two former Athens Boy Scouts are suing the Boy Scouts of America, a local Boy Scout organization and two Athens churches over childhood sexual abuse they say they received at the hands of a former Athens Scout leader.

The two men are also suing the estate of Ernest Boland for the lasting harm they say resulted from Boland’s sexual predation.

According to the civil lawsuit, the Boy Scouts of America, the Northeast Georgia Council of Boy Scouts, Beech Haven Baptist Church and Green Acres Baptist Church knew that Boland had been accused of child sexual abuse as far back as 1961, yet allowed him to continue his Scouting activities for years, according to the civil lawsuit.

The Scout organizations and the churches then and now are endangering the public by their “persuasive and systematic cover-up to conceal the identities of Boy Scout leaders accused of sexually abusing Boy Scouts,” according to the complaint the men filed in Clarke County Superior Court.

Boland, a successful businessman and former chairman of the Clarke County Commission, died in 2013, shortly after his name was revealed among thousands of names in a Boy Scout archive of Scout leaders expelled because of accusations of sexual abuse.

A Oregon judge ordered those records released during a similar lawsuit in 2012.

Those files on about 6,000 people, almost all men, are a partial record. The Scouts actually began documenting child sex abuse claims nearly 100 years ago, between 1920 and 1935, and destroyed many of the records in the 1970s, according to the complaint filed in Clarke County Superior Court by the two men’s lawyers, Darren Penn of Atlanta and Paul Mones of Los Angeles.

They are asking Judge David Sweat to order the national Scout organization, abbreviated as BSA in the complaint, to release more recent records. The documents released in the Oregon case cover the years 1947 through 2004, but the Scouts still keep records of Scout volunteers accused of sex abuse hidden from the public, according to the plaintiffs’ May 21 complaint.

The national Scout organization’s refusal to make the names public amounts to an “extreme threat” to public safety, according to the lawsuit. The Scouts continue to “actively endanger the general public by allowing sexual predators access to young boys,” the lawsuit claims.

The former Athens Scouts are seeking medical expenses as well as compensatory and punitive damages, lawyer fees and court costs.

The defendants have yet to file their responses to the complaint.

Boland was a Scoutmaster from about 1960 to 1977 in Athens, leading three separate church-affiliated Scout troops, the first at First Baptist Church. When he was accused of sexual abuse there, he became a Scout leader at Green Acres Baptist Church, and after similar accusations at Green Acres, moved on to a troop at Beech Haven Baptist, according to the lawsuit.

One of the plaintiffs said Boland sexually abused him from 1975 to 1979, between ages 12 and 16. The other plaintiff claimed Boland victimized him in the summer of 1968, when he was 12.

Children's therapist abused young victims of sex abuse with a bow and arrow, spray paint and a lighter before threatening to kill them in Florida
By Dave Burke For Mailonline

A therapist has been accused of sadistic torture techniques, with prosecutors claiming she used spray paint and a lighter on children, as well as a bow and arrow.

Jessica Lazzara, 42, allegedly abused two young girls, aged 11 and 13 in Polk County, Florida.

Both girls had been victims of sexual abuse, and Lazzara was sent to their home as a trauma therapist.

When the older girl would not get out of bed, deputies said Lazarra pointed a bow and arrow at her, hitting her with the arrow.

On another occasion, it is alleged, exposed her breasts, rubbing herself on one of the girls, and said she was going to kill herself and her victims.

The carer has been charged with lewd molestation, lewd and lascivious conduct, child abuse, battery and indecent exposure.

Prosecutors claim asked the younger girl if she wanted to be spanked, and then stuck a lighter between the 11-year-old's legs.

She is also accused of spraying the girl's legs and her mother's crotch area with paint, WFLA reports.

She has previously been arrested, the sheriff said, for providing alcohol to a minor, and driving under the influence.

She also lost her children during a divorce proceeding because of mental health issues, Sheriff Judd said.

He stated: 'I don’t know if it’s her conduct that upsets me the most, or the fact that Big Bear put somebody with a history, in a home, counseling by herself.'

In a statement released after the arrest, WFLA reports, Big Bear stated: 'Big Bear was notified of the incident and took immediate action to address the concerns reported to us.

'Big Bear places great value on the confidentiality and safety of our clients and staff, and are dedicated to serving our community with caring, competent strength.

'We pride ourselves in working with clinicians of the highest caliber, and exceed all local, state and federal guidelines in qualifying our employees prior to hire.'

Child, 7, alleges sexual abuse back in 2016
Times Record News

An Iowa Park man was arrested Tuesday on child sexual abuse charges following an investigation that lasted over a year.

Michael Wayne Crudgington, 40, is charged with indecency with a child by sexual contact. He was in the Wichita County Jail Tuesday afternoon in lieu of $30,000 bail.

According to the arrest warrant affidavit signed on May 23, 2017:

On March 5, 2016, a woman called the Iowa Park Police Department to report that her daughter, 7, possibly had been sexually assaulted in Iowa Park. The woman said she had allowed the girl and her other daughter to occasionally stay at the residence in Iowa Park with Crudgington and his girlfriend since around March of 2015.

The woman said the girl has told her over that year that Crudgington was weird and made her feel uncomfortable, but would not go into further detail as to why he made her feel that way.

On March 4, 2016, the woman told her daughters they'd be staying with Crudgington and his wife for a week during spring break. The girl became very upset and began to cry, saying she didn't want to stay with them.

The woman asked the girl why she didn't want to go, the girl told her mother that Crudgington would wake her up late at night when he got home from work and ask her to go into the living room to watch movies with him. The girl told her that Crudgington would then touch her inappropriately, possibly on more than one occasion. According to the woman, the girls last visited the residence around Feb. 20, 2016.

Iowa Park police called the Tarrant County Sheriff's Office to schedule a forensic interview for the girl, who lived in Tarrant County. A Tarrant County Sheriff's deputy contacted the family and then wrote up an information report about his visit with the mother. The deputy also notified the Iowa Park officer that he would be contacting Child Protective Services to inform them of what happened.

In the forensic interview, the girl said "Mike" would take her into the living room to watch movies. She said they'd be lying down on the couch or sometimes sitting and he would touch her in several places inappropriately.

When asked how often it happened, the girl said he would touch her every time she visited the residence. She also said he would touch her under her clothing and underwear. The interviewer asked the girl if "Mike" would make any noises when he touched her, and the girl said he would laugh and then demonstrated it for the interviewer.

On April 29, 2016, Iowa Park police met with Crudgington, who denied any inappropriate behavior with the girl.

About a month later, the officer met with him again for a second interview. She read Crudgington the Miranda warning and had him sign a form to acknowledge that he understood his rights. He said "this is stupid" when handing the form back to the officer and again denied the allegations.

Crudgington then told the officer "she's a very promiscuous 7 year old." When asked what he meant by that statement, Crudgington said the girl would try to kiss people and corner them.

Always the victim's fault!!!

Man arrested, accused of possessing images
of naked girl
BY RUTH BROWN

A 55-year-old Meridian man turned himself in on Tuesday after an indictment was issued accusing him of possessing images of a naked girl, younger than age 16.

James Drake was booked into Ada County Jail.

Meridian Police Deputy Chief Tracy Basterrechea said police received a tip in March of 2016 that Drake had images of the girl on his personal computer. There is no believed physical contact between Drake and the girl, but he’s accused of taking the photos.

An indictment against Drake came back last week, Basterrechea said.

Drake is charged on suspicion of two counts of video voyeurism, three counts of possessing sexually exploitative material of a minor and two counts of permitting a child to engage in or be used for sexually exploitative material.

What about making child pornography? Is that not a crime?

Drake posted bond and his next court appearance is set for 3 p.m. June 7.

‘Net Nanny’ trio charged in child sex sting in Pierce County
BY ALEXIS KRELL

Three men accused of arranging to have sex with minors during a “Net Nanny” child sex sting in Pierce County were charged Wednesday.

That makes 15 men arrested in the undercover operation since April who await trial.

The Washington State Patrol’s Missing and Exploited Children’s Task Force posted ads online in April, in which undercover investigators pretended to be preteens or parents offering children for sex.

Prosecutors initially charged 12 men who allegedly responded to the ads and were arrested when they showed up to meetings with the “minors.”

Then officers arrested three more Tuesday, when they allegedly showed up for similar meetings.

The three were arraigned Wednesday, and Court Commissioner Meagan Foley set bail at $500,000 for each. Charged were:

▪ Gregory Eugene Harrison, 34, who pleaded not guilty to first- and second-degree attempted child rape.

▪ Paul Hobgood, 56, who pleaded not guilty to first- and second-degree attempted child rape, and commercial sex abuse of a minor.

▪ Daniel Scott Moody Jr., 35, who pleaded not guilty to first-degree attempted child rape, commercial sex abuse of a minor and communication with a minor for immoral purposes.

This is the seventh time the State Patrol has done a so-called “Net Nanny” operation, and the second time they’ve done one in Pierce County.

And another 'well-done' to you guys. Keep up the great work. God bless you!

Nightmare Lingers for Navy Vet in Priest Sex-Abuse Case

Jorge Fitz-Gibbon

Peter Marghella

One of the worst panic attacks for Peter Marghella came during the Gulf War as he sat in a military tent in the sweltering heat of Bahrain.

For Marghella, a highly decorated U.S. Navy medical officer, the 17 years that had lapsed since his encounter with the Rev. Kenneth O'Connell at an upstate New York Boy Scout camp had done little to quell his nightmares.

“I took out the pistol and I cocked it and I put it in my mouth," Marghella said. "I was literally just about to pull the trigger when the command surgeon, who was in the room next to me, divided by a partition so he couldn’t see me, just started talking to me."

"I can’t remember what it was," he said. "It was just kind of innocuous banter. He talked with this kind of South Carolina drawl. And I just started to concentrate on what he was saying and I took the gun out of my mouth.”

It was the second near-suicide for Marghella, and it came seven years before he finally sought help and opened up about his childhood nightmare.

He is the latest victim of abuse by Catholic priests to settle with the Archdiocese of New York.

But it came after decades of anguish, panic attacks and recurring nightmares stemming from two years of sexual abuse by a Marist Brother and a violent assault by a trusted priest when Marghella was just 12 years old.

O'Connell was a former pastor at Sts. John and Paul Church in Larchmont and chaplain for Boy Scout Troop 21, Marghella's troop, which was based at Sacred Heart Church in Mount Vernon.

Boy Scout Troop 21 was based at Sacred Heart Church in Mount Vernon. Peter Marghella said it was during a camping trip with the troop that he was molested by the Rev. Kenneth O'Connell. (Photo: Carucha L. Meuse/The Journal News)

"By speaking out, Peter has empowered himself and other victims, and made the world a safer place for children," said his lawyer, Mitchell Garabedian.

"The sexual abuse by Msgr. Kenneth O'Connell indicates how far up the power chain sexual abusers are within the Catholic church," said Garabedian. "It is apparent that no one is safe, no child is safe, when in the company of a Catholic priest. Supervisors must do their jobs accordingly."

The attack

The attack on Marghella took place in July 1973, after he was prescribed muscle relaxers and advised by a doctor to sleep indoors after aggravating a serious rib injury during a two-week stay at a Boy Scout camp in Hope Falls, New York.

He says O'Connell offered to have the boy sleep in his cabin "to keep an eye on him one-on-one." Marghella said he was groggy from the medication he was prescribed.

“He had kind of a fold-out bed, a fold-out sofa in this building, and I fell asleep," he said. "The next thing I know I wake up in the middle of the night and O’Connell has come into bed with me and he’s completely naked."

"And he raped me. He sodomized me," Marghella said. "The actual act, I’d never felt that much pain and never have in my entire life.”

After the assault he said he lapsed in and out of consciousness until sunrise.

“He gets up and crawls back into his bed and turns and faces the wall, so he can’t or won’t look at me," Marghella said. "And I wait a few minutes to make sure I was safe and he wasn’t going to grab me again or choke me and kill me or something. I grabbed my clothes and I made a bolt out the door."

“I didn’t think I could tell anybody," he recalled. "I needed medical attention, there’s no doubt about that. But I was so scared of telling anybody. I didn’t know what was going to happen. I rolled the underwear up in a ball and I threw it in a garbage can right behind the kitchen, which was adjacent to the latrine.”

Retired U.S. Navy Commander Peter Marghella was the latest victim of sex abuse to be awarded a settlement by the Archdiocese of N.Y. (Photo: Submitted photo)

He never saw O'Connell again. The priest died in 1984 while he was pastor at the Larchmont Church. He is one of dozens of priests who abused children in New York.

Joseph Zwilling, spokesman for the Archdiocese of New York, said 118 claims of abuse by Catholic clergy have been filed and all have resulted in compensation.

The settlements come through the Independent Reconciliation and Compensation Program, a panel established last year by the Archdiocese to compensate abuse victims out of court. The statute of limitations prohibits many victims from suing.

Marghella was among those who filed a claim during the first phase of the program, which had a deadline of Jan. 31. Other victims of abuse have until July 31 to file new claims under the second phase of the program.

"The church is reaching out in an attempt to help promote healing, to atone for the harm that was done to these victim survivors," Zwilling said. "We continue to encourage anyone who has that kind of a claim to please come forward and participate. This is a sincere effort to try and help people achieve some measure of healing from what was done to them.”

But the settlement — which Marghella's lawyer would only describe as "well into the six figures" — has not quelled the Navy vet's anger.

“It’s not insignificant, but it’s not by any means significant," he said. "I’ve always made a point that if you gave me $1 or gave $100 million, you couldn’t change what happened to me and the trajectory it set on the arc of my life."

"And if they gave me $1 but it was attached to an apology, maybe I would take it," he added. "But they haven’t done any of that.”

Marghella kept the attack by O'Connell quiet for years, while he attended Cardinal Hayes High School in the Bronx and later went to college and the Navy. Only in 1980 did he tell his wife, his former high school sweetheart, and his three sisters.

Panic attack strikes

Monsignor Kenneth O"Connell was pastor at Sts. John and Paul Church in Larchmont at the time of his death in 1984. He was behind the latest abuse settlement by the Archdiocese of NY. (Photo: Tania Savayan/The Journal News)

The first major panic attack came on an Amtrak train in 1988 when he was on his way home to see his mother, who was living in an apartment in Mount Vernon. He said the attack became so severe that he attempted to jump from the train.

Only his inability to unlock the safety gates between the rail cars — and three cans of Budweiser beer — kept him from leaping to his death. He has been in "uninterrupted therapy" since 1997. Three years ago, his wife died, leaving him with three grown daughters who he said have been greatly supportive.

But despite overcoming his nightmare and having a successful career, Marghella remains haunted by the events inside O'Connell's cabin 44 years ago.

“Nothing has changed," he said. "This is not (New York Cardinal Timothy) Dolan reaching out his arms and embracing Pete Marghella and saying, ‘I’m really sorry for what happened to you and what my representatives did to you and your life.'"

"This is pure defense to protect themselves," Marghella said. "If anything, it’s further clouding the needed transparency that the victims need to heal.”

A 26 year-old Edmonton teacher was charged with three child pornography charges

An Edmonton Catholic junior high school teacher is facing multiple child pornography related charges

Diego Romero, Web Reporter & News Writer, CTV Edmonton

A 26-year-old junior high school teacher is facing multiple child pornography charges, ALERT said.

The investigation began in December, 2016, after the RCMP’s National Child Exploitation Coordination Centre tipped ALERT about a social media user allegedly uploading child pornography.

Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) and EPS arrested Marc Daigle Wednesday after a search warrant was conducted at his home where authorities seized multiple electronic devices.

Junior high school teacher Marc Diagle, 26, is facing three child pornography related charges.

Daigle – a music teacher at St. Nicholas Catholic Junior High School – has been charged with possessing, accessing and making child pornography available.

He was released on a number of conditions, including the inability to work at a place where children under the age of 16 could be present.

The Edmonton Catholic School District said Daigle no longer works at St. Nicholas Junior High School.

“ALERT has no information to suggest the teacher offended on any children but are encouraging anyone with information about this case to come forward,” ECSD also said in a press release.

Students at the school went home with a letter that reads the following:

“The safety of our students is always our first priority. The District’s Critical Response Team is at the school today talking with students and staff. Please use this as an opportunity to discuss this incident with your child…”

ICE encourages anyone with information about this case – or any other child exploitation offence – to contact EPS or cypertip.ca.

Daigle is scheduled to appear in court June 7.

Woman accused of child sex abuse and
possession of extreme pornography

Kira Leverton allegedly incited young children to engage in
sexual activity through an online gaming app

A Stoke-sub-Hamdon woman has appeared in court facing a string of child sex abuse charges including extreme pornography involving horses and inciting a young boy and girl in a country outside the UK to engage in sexual activity via an online gaming app.

Taunton Crown Court
Kira Rose Leverton, 29, of Stonehill, East Stoke, Stoke-sub-Hamdon, appeared in the dock before Somerset Magistrates, sitting at Yeovil.

She was charged that between November 20, 2015 and September 18, 2016, she made 188 indecent images of a child in the most serious Category A.

She was further alleged to have committed to similar offences involving 216 Category B images and 155 in Category C and being in possession of a prohibited image of a child between the same dates.

The defendant was also charged with three further similar offences involving 44 Category A movie clips; 13 Category B movie clips and two Category C movie clips of children.

Leverton was also charged that between June 26 and September 18 last year she possessed an extreme pornographic movie which portrayed a female person performing sexual intercourse with a horse which was grossly offensive, disgusting or otherwise of an obscene character.

Also, that between January 1, 2013 and December 31, 20015 she was alleged to have intentionally attempted to cause or incite a girl aged 13 to engage in sexual activity, namely engaging in online chat of a sexual nature, along with a second similar offence involving a boy aged 13 to 15.

Prosecutor Emma Lenanton said that the alleged offences came to light after police traced the defendant through her IP address as a result of a national investigation agency.

The defendant did not enter pleas to any of the alleged offences and the magistrates sent the case to Taunton Crown Court.

They adjourned all 10 matters against her until June 26 when she must appear before a pre trial hearing at Taunton.

Former priest jailed for 22 years for 'horrific
sexual abuse' of children in London
JONATHAN MITCHELL
A former priest who subjected London children to decades of “horrific sexual abuse” including rape has been jailed for 22 years.

Eugene Fitzpatrick, 68, was found to have sexually assaulted one boy in Islington, as well as raping a boy at Our Lady St Joseph’s Catholic Church in Hackney.

The offences were all committed in the 1960s, 70s, 80s and 90s, police said.

But police fear that the “predatory sex offender” could have assaulted other children in that time, and have pleaded for survivors of his abuse to come forward.

Fitzpatrick, of Raymond Avenue, in Canterbury, was convicted at Blackfriars Crown Court on Thursday, May 25, of seven counts of indecent assault, four counts of indecency with a child and two counts of buggery.

The indecent assault and indecency offences were committed against one victim in Islington. The buggery offences were committed against a second victim in Hackney.

He was sentenced to 22 years in prison the following day.

Wow. That's a huge sentence for the UK. Well done! This creep will be off the streets for the rest of his life making London a little safer.

Last year, another Catholic pedophile priest was sent to prison for messing up London kids.

Detective Constables Lorraine Simpson and Klementina Balint, the investigating officers, said: "Eugene Fitzpatrick is a predatory sex offender who abused his position of trust, preying on vulnerable youngsters and subjecting them to horrific sexual abuse over a period of years.

"In addition to the two known victims in this case, I believe that there may be additional survivors of Fitzpatrick’s actions who continue to suffer in silence. I urge anyone who has been abused by Eugene Fitzpatrick to contact police without delay.

"Specially trained officers will support victims throughout the investigative process and there are a number of additional support pathways that we are able to signpost."

Pedophile ring bust linked to arrest of A Current Affair's Ben McCormack
By 9NEWS

The arrest of A Current Affair reporter Ben McCormack has allegedly been linked to a pedophile ring membership list discovered by police in Western Australia.

A Current Affair is an award winning, week-night, TV, current affairs program in Australia.

Police were investigating a suspected child rapist when they uncovered phone records, computer files and other information about the ring, which allegedly included school teachers and Mr McCormack, 9NEWS understands.

The information was reportedly shared with police across the country, and led to the arrest of a West Australian Catholic primary school teacher.

The West Australian investigation began in February, when the alleged rapist was arrested and charged with 35 offences.

The Daily Telegraph reports a Queensland teacher was also arrested in the operation.

A Current Affair statement on Ben McCormack

Mr McCormack, 42, was arrested in Sydney on April 6 and has been charged with two counts of using a carriage service for child pornography material.

New South Wales police allege he engaged in explicit conversations about children with an adult male and discussed child pornography.

Mr McCormack was released on bail and was later admitted to a private hospital, where he continues to receive treatment.

Ben McCormack charges

His lawyer Sam Macedone said the charges against him have "nothing to do with the usual child pornography".

"None of the charges that have been levelled against him involves pictures or explicit details of young kids," he said.

"It's got nothing to do with the usual child pornography where you've got young children being photographed or in a video or anything like that. It's nothing more than a discussion and that's all there is."

Mr McCormack's case is scheduled to return to court on July 4.

Convicted pedophile walks free after molesting girl
By 9NEWS

The family of a nine-year-old girl is demanding answers after the Gold Coast man who molested her walked free without serving a day in prison.

Peter Andrews, 64, used video games and a dog to lure the girl to his home, where he sexually abused her.

He was found guilty of indecent treatment of a child but was handed a suspended sentence after telling the court he has terminal cancer.

Pedophile's wife blames child

Mr Andrews' wife recently told the victim’s grandmother, who cannot be identified, it was the child and her family’s "fault" for her husband’s behaviour.

"Because you're negligent parents, her parents didn't care. That's why she used to come over and stay," Mrs Andrews said.

"She's a s--- at 14 sleeping around, did she learn that off you?"

14? I thought she was 9? Apparently the woman is an extremely bad judge of age, and, perhaps, character.

Mrs Andrews threatened to call police when 9NEWS questioned her about her comments today.

"It has nothing to do with me. f— off."

The victim's grandparents said Mrs Andrews' words were “absolutely unbelievable” and that Mr Andrews was a "not a man," but "an animal."

The family is now dropping off pamphlets to warn other young families about Mr Andrews, who often lives just metres from a Southport childcare centre.

"If I had little kids I'd be locking my door," a local woman said.

I think I would be locking my door anyway, as much from fear of Mrs Andrews.

Andrews is not the first offender who avoided a jail term. Earlier this year, a 23-year-old Kiwi was sentenced to only eight months of home detention after admitting she sexually violated her 1-year-old son. She filmed the horrendous act at the request of a paedophile in 2014.

In October last year, a British offender was found with more than 137,000 indecent images of children but avoided a jail sentence. He originally faced up to five years’ term but was instead handed a suspended sentence after telling a judge that he wanted to become a father.

The sheer insanity of the judge accommodating a pedophile in becoming a father is simply astounding.

The judge said that he had no previous convictions and had never distributed or made any images or videos himself. The offender was ordered to pay £250 (AU$423) and sign the sex offenders register.

Paedophile priest admits charges against three new victims
TOM LEE/FAIRFAX NZ

A former Catholic priest jailed for molesting boys in the 1970s and 80s has admitted charges against three new victims.

Mark Mannix Brown, 74, appeared in the Hamilton District Court on Tuesday, where he pleaded guilty to four charges of indecent assault and attempted sodomy.

Some of the charges are representative.

He was remanded on continuing bail by Judge Kim Saunders, to be sentenced on July 19, following the compiling of a pre-sentence assessment and a restorative justice conference with one of his victims.

Brown was jailed for 15 months in 1990 for sexual offending against altar boys.

The agreed summary of facts reveal that the first and youngest of his three new victims was aged between 6 and 9 years old and was in the care of an orphanage in Auckland in the mid 1970s.

Brown's sister was a nun who taught at the orphanage at that time, and he was a frequent visitor to the establishment.

Under the guise of having one-on-one "spiritual time" with the boy, he made him sit in his lap and kiss him.

On at least one occasion he attempted to sodomise the boy.

He told the boy that their interactions were "our special secret" and if he told anyone he would be separated from his siblings, who were also wards of the orphanage.

Another victim was aged 16 and 17 and was an invited guest at Brown's family farm in Te Mata, near Raglan.

Brown would make nocturnal visits to the teenager, where he sexually abused him. They also engaged in anal intercourse.

The victim said he was confused and did not know what to do, as he looked up to Brown as a father figure.

The third victim, aged 9, was an altar boy where Brown was a priest.

At an unspecified date between 1982 and 1986, the boy was in the church, when he became unwell and vomited onto the floor of the church.

Brown led the victim to a nearby building, known as the Priests' Building, where he let the boy throw up into the toilet there.

Brown rubbed the boy's back as he vomited, but at one point began fondling his genitals instead.

He stopped when the boy looked at him.

Brown was represented in court by barrister Mark Sturm.

Brown also made headlines in 2008, when it was revealed he was living in a house in Auckland with brain-injured serial child molester Vivian Kitching.

The pair had been allowed to reside in a house on Mt Eden Rd, just 700 metres from Three Kings School – in spite of a warning from Corrections Department psychologists.

Little Laila’s Painful Story with a Pedophile

A Saudi Arabian tragedy from a Saudi perspective
By Hala Al-Qahtani
Al-Watan

LAILA was playing with other girls in front of her house located in a modest village on the outskirts of the bustling city. She was playing with little stones which she had collected from the earth, the only thing that nature offered them at no cost.

Laila did not know that a bearded man was watching her regularly with the intent of marrying her to fulfill his lust. He was looking for a young snow white girl and did not care whether the girl had reached puberty to shoulder the responsibilities of a wife.

He wanted to purchase Laila like chicken from her poor family, which was finding it difficult to make both ends meet and the girl used to beg for her poor parents. The man spent a few months luring his prey like a pig, giving her something to taste in order to swallow the whole family.

The pedophile married that girl and took her to his place. After several months, the girl became pregnant, which spoiled his plan. He wanted to use Laila as a slave to fulfill his sexual pleasure and work as a housemaid. The man thought of discarding Laila to look for another prey.

His mother supported him to terminate Laila’s pregnancy by forcing her to clean the big house regularly and carry heavy weight without considering her condition. Although children would be usually weak in carrying out such household works, Laila tried her best to make angry faces happy. But nothing could please those cruel hearts. The painstaking job finally led to miscarriage.

When she became pregnant for the second time, that cruel man asked her to take pills to abort the fetus again. When refused, she was subjected to mental and physical torture.

At that time the girl did not realize that pedophiles like him empty their mental illness by marrying minors from poor countries and keeping them away from their families. She did not understand the reason for the man’s anger and why she was mistreated?

Laila insisted that she would not agree for abortion.

She was unaware that the hyena would suck her blood and her baby and abandon her in the desert. This is what actually happened. Overnight, his mother, who brought him up on hatred, selfishness and haughtiness, advised him what to do to get rid of Laila.

The man started beating Laila, accused her of having extramarital affair with another man and found pleasure in torturing her savagely. As a result, Laila fell unconscious. He sprinkled water on her face, and when she woke up he did not show any mercy. On the other hand, he continued to beat her in order to admit that she became pregnant through adultery.

Laila vowed that she did not have any extramarital affair. Then he threatened to kill her by cutting her throat using a sharp knife for committing the crime of fornication.

She collapsed from pain, and said all that was dictated as false confessions. Laila returned to her place (her previous home, I believe) that evening burdened by pain and injury, like the survivor of a treacherous war shell. She fell like a dry tree leaf in the season of sorrow, having been deprived of her three children, becoming divorced while she was still a minor, before completing 17.

When a man intends to marry a minor from an Arab country (the man is 20 years older than her) after deliberately choosing that little girl from a poor family it cannot be considered charity or assistance to her family. On the other hand, it violates the highest human values.

I don’t know how these people dare to defend their nefarious act by narrating the story of Prophet’s marriage with Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, without considering the ugliness of his thought, like many others, who show piety after exploiting the poverty of people. Even after violating innocence of a child they wanted to equate themselves with prophets.

The Saudi government under the leadership of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman did justice to Laila and other mothers, as the Council of Ministers granted Saudi children the right to permanent residence in the Kingdom on its sponsorship. The state paid the fees for resident permits and treated them like Saudis in terms of medical treatment, education and work.

The evil-minded people not only deprive mothers of seeing their children but also question the honor and chastity of their wives without knowing they tarnish the reputation of their own children, only to become the winner in the end. Whatever be the type of these hyenas, we can rightly say that it’s a species that knows only brutality.

How an Online Initiative Is Helping Children Fight Sexual Abuse

Poonam Agarwal, The Quint
A young girl in rural Haryana, India was suffering sexual abuse at the hands of her biological father.

She was too scared to tell her mother fearing that the father might harm her. What makes this story extraordinary is that, a few months ago, the girl filed an online complaint through e-box, an initiative of the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR), to safeguard the rights of children.

The Commission contacted the child, counselled her and encouraged her to tell her mother. Within hours, the mother contacted the Commission. After initial reluctance, she filed a complaint against the father. He was subsequently arrested under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO).

The girl had come to know about e-box through her schoolteacher. NCPCR started the facility eight months ago to provide easy and faster redressal to POCSO victims.

How Does E-Box Function?

When you visit the NCPCR website, right at the bottom you can find e-box as shown below.

Once you click the e-box button it leads to an animated video in which an elderly woman speaks in a compassionate way. She begins by saying “NCPCR aapka dost hai (NCPCR is your friend)” and goes on to mention circumstances under which a child should file a complaint to them.

The animated video leads to another page with 6 pictures illustrating the kinds of harassment a child may have faced. The victim has to select one of these pictures and fill in his/her details with a small description about his/her harassment.

E-box also provides a mobile phone no 9868235077, which is available 24/7. If a child is not comfortable sharing information, he/she can directly contact the NCPCR through this number.

We have given a safe and non-intrusive facility to a child
to report an incident of sexual abuse. It is very easy to use.

POCSO Cases On the Rise In Schools

A few POCSO cases have shocked the Commission. It has released details of two such cases to bring out the gravity of the situation.

Case 1: Two young female teachers of a private school in Bihar were involved in raping several young girl students of the same school. One of the victims told her parents when she refused to go to school. Parents contacted the Commission through e-box. NCPCR members approached the state police for an FIR. During the investigation, police found that these two teachers were sexually abusing girls for several years. The teachers were immediately arrested and all victims underwent counselling.

Case 2: A cook of a school was the perpetrator in this incident. The victim in this case was a very young girl who had been going through the trauma for almost a year. Parents found out when the girl fell ill. Instead of contacting the police, they contacted the NCPCR because they were more comfortable with them and did not trust the cops. The cook is now in jail but the girl is still scared to go to school.

‘Rise in Involvement of Teenagers’

The NCPCR says they get an average of 3-4 complaints relating to POCSO daily, either through e-box, postal service or mobile phone. In the past few years, the Commission has seen a rise in the involvement of teenagers in rape cases.

We can’t be certain but the accessibility to porn videos online and the desire to explore further is one of the reasons. It could also be because the perpetrator had faced child abuse himself. Most of them are first-time offenders with no criminal background.

What Happens After A Survivor Contacts on e-box

Here are the steps followed by the Commission to aid POCSO victims:

Once the sexual abuse survivor contacts the Commission online by sharing a small description of the incident, an officer contacts him/her.

If the survivor has contacted directly, the officer, after listening to the grievance of the child, would request him/her to hand the phone to someone senior in the family. If he/she doesn’t agree to involve someone senior, then after evaluating the situation the officers would meet the survivor.

If the survivor complains of threat to life then the officer will immediately call child helpline and approach local authority/police for assistance.

After meeting and assessing the case, the officer approaches the police to register the case and ensure that the perpetrator is taken into custody immediately.

The Commission will keep following the case until a chargesheet is filed by the police in the court.

The Commission will also help the survivor with counselling, if required.

An action taken report is given to the complainant for their feedback. The Commission will continue to follow the case until the survivor’s family is satisfied with the action taken.

Interestingly, the parents are no more shying away from
reporting child abuse which was earlier a taboo in our society.

Senior Officer, POCSO Committee, NCPRC

A young officer of the Commission said that in some cases, the abuse survivor and his/her parents have shown so much trust in the officers that even after the case is over, they continue to take advice from them.

NCPCR to Launch A Mobile App For POCSO Victims

Seeing the response of POCSO victims on e-box, the NCPCR has designed an app for mobile phones. Filing a complaint would then be just a click away. The NCPCR says the app has already been designed and is likely to be launched in a few months.

These days children have easy accessibility to internet and
smartphones even in remote places. That’s why we decided
to launch a mobile app for POCSO victims.

Stuti Kacker, Chairperson, NCPCR

The National Crime Records Bureau data shows a steep rise in cases under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO). There were 14,913 reported cases in 2015, according to the latest report, against 8,904 the previous year.

In the last 8 months, e-box has received over 300 hits of which 37 cases turned out to be genuine POCSO cases. So far in all 37 cases an FIR has been registered, in some cases trial has also begun after charge-sheets were filed by the police. Till date, the youngest sexual abuse survivor contacted via e-box is two and a half years old.
