Everyday thousands of children are being sexually abused. You can stop the abuse of at least one child by simply praying. You can possibly stop the abuse of thousands of children by forwarding the link in First Time Visitor? by email, Twitter or Facebook to every Christian you know. Save a child or lots of children!!!! Do Something, please!

3:15 PM prayer in brief:
Pray for God to stop 1 child from being molested today.
Pray for God to stop 1 child molestation happening now.
Pray for God to rescue 1 child from sexual slavery.
Pray for God to save 1 girl from genital circumcision.
Pray for God to stop 1 girl from becoming a child-bride.
If you have the faith pray for 100 children rather than one.
Give Thanks. There is more to this prayer here

Child Sex Abuse - It Just Gets Worse

I have mentioned a few times that children as young as 5 years old are being sold by their parent(s) to pimps for sexual slavery. Virgins get high dollar in the 'club med' for perverts economy. So much so that after a girl has been deflowered (if not ripped in two), the pimp will get someone to sew her up and will sell her again and again as a virgin.

Ann Voskamp is in Uganda as I write this, and she writes that the people there are so hungry that children stay awake half the night catching flying ants by candlelight, so they will have something to eat the next day.

She also says that fathers are selling their little girls to unscrupulous men as early as 4 years of age. Read her incredible blog at:

a holy experience

If you cannot feed the hungry, give drink to the thirsty, and clothe the naked, you can certainly always pray. Prayer changes things. God changes things when we pray.

Save A Child from Sexual Abuse by 3:15 PM

There is a most horrific thing going on in the world today that largely flies below the radar of most people. In my opinion, it is one of the - if not

the most outrageous atrocity the world has ever seen

Can you guess what it is? I suspect not. It is the sexual abuse of children. We hear the occasional story in the news of some unbelievably monstrous account of men gang-raping a 5 or 6 year old in India, killing one of them from the brutality, or about the suicide of a teenage girl who was sexually abused and videoed, and we think these are just horrible, isolated incidents, but they are not! The more digging I do into this nightmare of numbers, the more insane it becomes.

Globally, Journalist Resource web site estimates that 8% of boys and 20% of girls are sexually assaulted before the age of 19 years. Numbers are higher in Africa than most other continents, but they are also higher in America. As best I can calculate, there are roughly 2 billion children in the world under the age of 19. About 115,000 children are sexually abused every day; about 80 every minute. That means more than one child molestation is started every second somewhere in the world.

But it's much worse than that!

But a little more research revealed that those numbers are woefully inadequate. They account for only the number of new children who have been or are being molested. They do not account for the repeated molestation of children which occurs in a high percentage (75 - 80%) of victims.

On May 3rd, 2013, a man in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, was convicted of sexually abusing 3 girls over a period of many years – one of them more than 1000 times. A few days later, 3 young women who had been held captive and sexually assaulted for between 9 and 12 years were found in Cleveland.

Cleveland's kidnapped girls Berry, DeJesus, and Knight prior to their abductions

In eastern Europe, Africa, and Asia, girls are sold into sexual slavery by their own families – as young as 4 years old. Many are simply kidnapped, smuggled across borders into other countries, shot up with drugs until they can no longer resist and are prostituted. An estimated 4,000 children were trafficked to European countries, just from Albania, between 1992 and 2002 (Gjermenia et al., 2008). They are sexually victimized thousands of times.

So the actual number of sexual molestations occurring every 18 years is not in the millions but in the billions, and probably in the tens of billions. My statistics show between 6 billion and 60 billion acts of sexual abuse in 18 years - one generation of childhood. It means that a child is not being abused every second, but a new child is being abused every second. There are actually anywhere from 11 to 110 abuses that begin every second; 667 - 66,700 per minute; between 96,000 and 960,000 per day; and, 35 million to 350 million per year; or 600 million to 6 billion over 18 years.

If a molestation lasts an average of between 3 and 10 minutes (I’m totally guessing here), then between 800 and 80,000 children are being sexually abused at any given moment, depending, also, on the average number of abuses per child. It’s enough to drive one mad if you dwell on it too long.

Between 800 and 80,000 children
are being sexually molested right now

According to Wikipedia, the affects of sexual abuse on children include:

guilt and self-blame,
flashbacks,
nightmares,
insomnia,
fear of things associated with the abuse (including objects, smells, places, doctor's visits, etc.),
self-esteem issues,
sexual dysfunction,
chronic pain,
addiction,
self-injury,
suicidal ideation,
somatic complaints,
depression,
post-traumatic stress disorder,
anxiety,
other mental illnesses including borderline personality disorder and dissociative identity disorder,
propensity to re-victimization in adulthood,
bulimia nervosa,
physical injury to the child, among other problems.

By experience, I can verify many of those symptoms, some of which I have suffered from for 60 years even though my abuse was neither violent nor painful. I can also add childhood bed-wetting to that list, and, I believe, excessive weight-gain, especially in girls.

For girls, most sexual abuse occurs between the ages of 9 and 15 years, but 10% of them are under the age of 5. For boys, most sexual assaults occur between the ages of 3 and 7 years. Most sexual assault victims are repeatedly abused for periods of 1 to 4 years. 17% involve incest. Most victims know their assaulter. I was sexually abused at 3 and 4 years of age by a relative.

40,000 Child brides every day
Counted in those numbers above are the 200 million women alive today who have undergone the nightmare of female circumcision, or female genital mutilation (FGM), which usually occurs before puberty. They also include the 40,000 girls who are coerced into becoming child brides every single day - 7600 of which are under the age of 15.

Can we do anything about this? Can we live with ourselves if we don’t? For those of us who know God, are we prepared to stand before Him on the great and terrible day without having done anything to stop this monstrous atrocity?

FGM often done without anesthetic
The good news is that there are things we can do that will cost us nothing in money and only 3 minutes a day of our time. Is that too much to ask?

We Christians have a unique audience with the Creator of the Universe through prayer. There are great men of God, like Andrew Murray and Watchman Nee who have stated that God has ordained to do His work on the earth with the prayers of His people. It's absurd to think that He wants this abuse to continue, but it does continue because of evil men and an apathetic church.

We must pray for the children!

There are many levels of prayer and many ways we can pray. I simply ask you to pray and allow God to lead you in whatever direction of prayer He desires.

Here are some ideas to get you started. This is my 3:15 PM (Prayer Model). Pray for 3 minutes, once a day, for 5 children.

Ask God to save one child who has never been abused from being molested – to literally stop an abuse that is about to happen, and to protect that child from any further attempts at abuse.

Ask God to deliver one child who is being abused at this very moment from its abuser.

Ask God to deliver one child from chronic sexual abuse like those mentioned above. To break her bonds whether they are physical, emotional, chemical or psychological, and give her the courage and opportunity to escape. Ask God to direct her steps to the help she need to fully recover.

Ask God to stop one little girl from becoming a child bride.

Ask God to save one little girl from the horror of female circumcision.

Ask God to deliver the men involved with these girls from the evil they commit and save them if at all possible. If that is not possible, then ask the Lord to raise up someone who will stop them from further abuse.

Thank the Lord for hearing your prayer.

If you have the faith replace 'one' with '100' or whatever number you are comfortable with.

These are just suggestions, of course, you can pray in whatever manner you like, but just pray. And, if the Holy Spirit prompts you to do something more tangible, then just do it.

The goal is to get as many people as possible praying, meditating, focusing, even talking about this issue, and I have no doubt that we can make an enormous impact against this moral genocide. We can also ask Jesus to stop all sexual abuse everywhere. Perhaps if enough of us agree…

Have faith to believe God will honour your prayers and do as you ask. This project is all about faith and commitment. Do not expect any rewards in this lifetime other than the privilege of prayer and the fellowship with Christ’s suffering. For you can be sure that He suffers with each abused child and is probably mystified that so few are praying for them.

Please pray and spread the word.

God bless you and keep you.

Great News

BBC reports that Google has announced a plan to do more to tackle online images of child sexual abuse.
Using both technology and funding, it hopes to find and eradicate images and track down abusers.
This is great news! It not only should reduce some of the child sexual abuse done by pornographers but should get some of the perverts off the streets.
See Google to Tackle Child Pornography link in Ripped from the Headlines.

Come Unto Me

Jesus, the first thing You require of me is to come unto You. To come with empty hands, an open mind and an open heart. To come with all my sins, my guilt, my shame, my awful memories. To come with my pride, my stubbornness, my fears, my anger, my rebellion, my right to myself. To come with my selfish ambition, my wants, my fleshly desires, my lusts. To come and lay them all at the feet of the Cross where You paid such a high price for me.

I come, Lord, holding nothing back. Take my self-will and give me Yours. Remind me by Your Spirit to come unto You every day until You make me an instrument of Your will that You might accomplish what You want through me in this world, and so that I might be prepared for whatever You have in mind for me in Eternity.

Jesus, You are Lord of my life – all of it. Glorify Yourself.

The Love of God

But whoever has this world’s goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him? 1 John 3:17

While this verse refers to materiel things, can it be any less true in reference to spiritual and emotional needs?

If we cannot find 3 minutes a day to pray for the 15 million children who will be sexually abused this year, most repeatedly, how can the love of God abide in us?

Please, for the love of God, pray for the children and do what you can to spread this message. See "The Next Step", Thanks.

Child Prostitution Statistics

UNICEF estimates that 2 million children are involved in child prostitution globally. I'm inclined to believe that that number is grossly underestimated. Brazil had a half million child prostitutes itself for the World Cup. I doubt that they went back to doing nothing for a living.

Some statistics on child prostitution around the world, from Wikipedia:

Statistics

Past surveys indicate that 30 to 35 percent of all prostitutes in the Mekong sub-region of Southeast Asia are between 12 and 17 years of age.[6]

Thailand’s Health System Research Institute reports that children in prostitution make up 40% of prostitutes in Thailand.[7]

The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) estimate that 2 million children are exploited in prostitution or pornography every year.[1]

An estimated 12,000 Nepalese children, mainly girls, are trafficked for sexual commercial exploitation each year within Nepalor to brothels in India and other countries.[4]

Some 84% of girls in prostitution interviewed in Tanzania reported having been battered, raped or tortured by police officers and sungu sungu (local community guards). At least 60% had no permanent place to live. Some of these girls started out aschild domestic workers.[4]

UNICEF estimates that there are 60,000 child prostitutes in the Philippines and many of the 200 brothels in the notorious Angeles City offer children for sex.[8]

In Brazil, UNICEF estimates that there are 250,000 children working in the child prostitution industry.[9] See link at top of page

In El Salvador, one-third of the sexually exploited children between 14 and 17 years of age are boys. The median age for entering into prostitution among all children interviewed was 13 years. They worked on average five days per week, although nearly 10% reported that they worked seven days a week.[4]

In Malaysia, an estimated 150 children enter the child sex trade each year.[10]

In Vietnam, family poverty, low family education and family dysfunction were found to be primary causes for CSEC*. Sixteen per cent of the children interviewed were illiterate, 38% had only primary-level schooling. Sixty-six per cent said that tuition and school fees were beyond the means of their families.[4]

In Sri Lanka, children often become the prey of sexual exploiters through friends and relatives. The prevalence of boys in prostitution here is strongly related to foreign tourism.[4]

Experts indicate that there are currently at least 100,000 child victims of sex trafficking in the United States while upwards of 325,000 remain at risk [11]

The Next Step

OK Christian friends and intercessors, it's time to move the Save-A-Child prayer initiative to the next step. I'm asking each of you who have a home church to approach your Pastor about putting a link to the  Save-A-Child blog on their church web-site. If your church doesn't have a web-site, remind them that it is the 21st century. (Just kidding).

If you have friends in other churches, please be so bold as to ask them to approach their pastors about linking to the blog. Remember, this is all about the kids. I do not and will never make a cent off that blog. All I ever want is 3 minutes of your day to help reduce what is arguably the worst atrocity that mankind has ever inflicted upon itself.

The church has been too quiet for too long on this subject, and it is to our shame and the detriment of our relationship with Jesus Christ. Please share this link:
