GLITTER'S OUT: Gary Glitter ‘treated like royalty’ in bail hostel

& ‘having his meals delivered to his private room’ after jail release

POP paedo Gary Glitter is infuriating other inmates at his bail hostel by having his meals delivered to him in his private room.

The pervert is said to be “really happy and upbeat” at the hostel following his release from HMP Verne in Dorset in the early hours of Friday morning.

Sources said Glitter was having his meals delivered to him by staff at the hostel - which has a garden which includes football goal posts, gym facilities and a smoking area.

It is positioned on a leafy street with around ten schools nearby.

One source said: "There's lifers in the hostel and they are angry Glitter is in there.

"Glitter is very happy. He's talking to people.  He’s upbeat. He needs to interact with people to get a chance to be released.

"He won't be going anywhere outside for a while. Other people did not get escorted into here and treated like royalty like he is being. "It's caused a lot of upset."

The serial child abuser, 78, was released under the cover of darkness at 1.25am on Friday. He had served just half of his 16-year sentence.

He was settled in and fitted with a GPS tag, before being reminded of his strict licence conditions.

They include abiding by a nightly curfew, a ban on working without prior approval, no travel outside the UK and no contact with the media.

He is also barred from living with anyone under the age of 18 and cannot go near schools, playgrounds or swimming pools.

Last night, sources hit out after he was allowed out under automatic release rules.

One said: “By law, officials’ hands were completely tied. He had to be released at the halfway point of his sentence.

But Glitter simply hasn’t engaged properly with the treatment he was offered inside. He attended the sessions but made it quite clear he wasn’t interested. It was like a naughty kid staring out of the window throughout class.

“If a dangerous sex offender refuses to engage, surely they’re just not fit for release?”

VICTIM'S FURY

Last night one of his victims said of his release:  “It’s hit me really hard. I can’t believe this is happening to me. I just can’t do this anymore.

“He should never been let out of prison for what he did. He’s just done eight years but I’m doing a life sentence.

“I can never forget what this monster did to me and I’m still struggling to deal with it. I really believe that he is still a danger to society. Who knows what he could go on  to do?”

Glitter, whose real name is Paul Gadd, has been categorised as a level 3 offender.

Last night, a Ministry of Justice spokesman said: “Sex offenders like Paul Gadd are closely monitored by the police and Probation Service and face some of the strictest licence conditions including being fitted with a GPS tag.

“If the offender breaches these conditions at any point, they can go back behind bars.

“We’ve already introduced tougher sentences for the worst offenders and ended the automatic halfway release for serious crimes.”

And, yet, without participating in the anti-pervert program in prison, he still qualified for release at half-time. How does that make any sense?

Glitter was one of the UK’s biggest glam rock stars of the 1970s and a familiar face on BBC TV chart show Top of the Pops.

He had a string of hits including three UK No 1 singles: I’m the Leader of the Gang (I Am!), I Love You Love Me Love and Always Yours.

GLITTER'S DOWNFALL

Glitter’s fall from grace began in 1997 when he took a laptop into a Bristol branch of PC World for repair and an engineer found child abuse images on the hard drive.

Two years later the singer was jailed for four months after a total of 4,000 images were found by police in a subsequent investigation.

He emigrated on release, before being kicked out of Cambodia in 2002 amid claims of committing sex crimes.

Four years later he was jailed in neighbouring Vietnam for molesting two girls, one aged just ten.

He escaped serious charges of child rape — which carried a death sentence — and returned to the  UK in 2008.

Glitter was forced to sign the sex offender register but he was arrested once again in 2012 at his multimillion-pound home in Westminster.

Police would later describe him as a “habitual sexual predator who took advantage of the star status afforded to him."

And in 2015 he was convicted of attempted rape, four counts of indecent assault and one of having sex with a girl under 13 in the 1970s and 1980s.

Sentencing him, Judge Alistair McCreath said he could find no real evidence that Glitter had atoned for his crimes.

The judge said: “It is difficult to overstate the depravity of this dreadful behaviour.

"You did all of the victims real and lasting damage and you did so for no other reason than to obtain sexual gratification for yourself of a wholly improper kind.”

Glitter no longer owns the master rights to his songs — meaning he no longer receives any royalties.

In 2019, his song Rock and Roll Part 2 featured in movie The Joker but rights holders insisted he would not receive any royalties.

Mason Greenwood has charges of attempted rape and assault

DROPPED more than a year after Man Utd star was arrested

Richard Moriarty, Holly Christodoulou, The Sun
Published: 14:01, 2 Feb 2023, Updated: 17:14, 2 Feb 2023

MASON Greenwood today had all charges of attempted rape, assault and coercive control against him dropped.

The Manchester United striker, 21, was first arrested in January last year after police swooped on his mansion.

Greenwood was due to stand trial in November accused of attempted rape, assault and coercive control.

The Crown Prosecution today confirmed they had dropped all charges against him.

A spokesperson said: “We have a duty to keep cases under continuous review.

“In this case a combination of the withdrawal of key witnesses and new material that came to light meant there was no longer a realistic prospect of conviction.

"In these circumstances, we are under a duty to stop the case.

How thoroughly did they investigate the withdrawal of the key witnesses, I wonder?

“We have explained our decision to all parties.

“We would always encourage any potential victims to come forward and report to police and we will prosecute wherever our legal test is met.”

Greenwood last appeared in court in November where a trial date was set for November 23 this year.

The alleged offences related to one woman and were said to have taken place between November 1, 2018, and October 15, 2022.

Greenwood was accused of "repeatedly engaging" in controlling and coercive behaviour for almost four years - including making threats and derogatory comments on social media.

He was also charged with attempting to rape the woman on October 21, 2021, and allegedly assaulted her between December 12, 2021, and December 31, 2021.

The footballer was originally remanded in custody after being charged by police on October 15. But a judge released him on the condition he does not contact witnesses, including the complainant, and resides at an address in Bowdon.

The striker also spent three nights in custody after he was arrested at his £15,000-a-month rented home in Trafford last January.

He was suspended from Utd but still received his £75,000-a-week salary.

Greenwood was removed from FIFA 22 and dropped by sponsors Nike in the wake of the allegations.

Football Manager 2022 also confirmed he would not feature in the game.

All merchandise bearing the No11's name was axed from the official Utd site and teammates unfollowed him on Instagram.

Greenwood last played for the Red Devils on January 22 last year when the team beat West Ham 1-0.

The player joined the club aged just six and rose through the ranks to land himself a regular spot on the first team.

In 2019, he became the youngest footballer to play for United in the Champions League when he took to the pitch aged 17.

Greenwood has made 129 appearances in total for the Red Devils and netted 35 goals.

In 2020, England manager Gareth Southgate gave the striker his first cap when Greenwood came off the bench in a 1-0 win against Iceland.

Greenwood missed out on last year's Three Lions' World Cup campaign in Qatar as the case went to court.

Utd have not yet released a statement following the development.

Chief Superintendent Michaela Kerr, GMP’s Head of Public Protection, said today: "The investigation team has remained in regular contact with the legal team, providing any updates of note, and so understand the rationale for the discontinuation of proceedings at this stage, and that this decision has not been taken lightly.

"Despite the media and public’s interest in this case, we have decided not to comment on it in any further detail.

“I would, however, like to use this opportunity to reiterate GMP’s commitment to investigating allegations of violence against women and girls and supporting those affected, regardless of their circumstances, throughout what can be a hard and upsetting time for them.

"An ever increasing number of officers are receiving specialist training and the force is more consistently utilising tools, available via the criminal justice system, to keep people safe and care for victims.

“If you feel you are or might be a victim, please don’t let this case put you off asking for help.”

Greenwood joined Man Utd aged six to play for the club's development school in Halifax, West Yorkshire. He progressed through to join the under-18 squad for the 2017-18 season.

Greenwood then made his first-team competetive debut as an 87th minute substitute in the team's 3-1 win against PSG in the Champions League in March 2019.

And his first goal for the club came in their Europa League opener against Kazakh side Astana in September 2019.

In total he has had 83 professional appearances with the team, scoring 22 goals.

He began as a midfielder but gradually moved towards being a centre forward, often playing on the right flank for Man Utd.

Greenwood also represented England's under-17 team and made six appearances in 2017-18.

It should be interesting to see what happens now.

Judge cites ‘publicity’ in dismissing Nick Kyrgios’ assault charge

after guilty plea

By Post Wire Report

Tennis star Nick Kyrgios pled guilty to assaulting ex-girlfriend Chiara Passari during an argument in 2021, but a judge in Canberra, Australia dismissed the charge – citing, among other things, the “publicity” the trial garnered.

Magistrate Jane Campbell said that the case did not warrant a conviction despite the guilty plea, and that the publicity of the trial, the time that had elapsed since the incident and the fact that Kyrgios did not appear to be a risk of re-offending factored into her decision.

In the incident, Kyrgios pushed Passari to the ground as she stood in the door of an Uber outside her apartment in Canberra, trying to prevent the 2022 Wimbledon runner-up from leaving. He reportedly told her to “piss off” and “leave me the f*** alone” as she asked him to get out of the car.

Passari reported the incident months later after a brief reconciliation.

Kyrgios had suffered severe depression, suicidal ideation and insomnia in the past, a psychologist told a court on Friday when the Australian tennis star pleaded guilty.

Campbell did not record a conviction against Kyrgios for reasons including that the offense was at the low end of seriousness for a common assault, and was not premeditated.

Campbell described it as an act of “stupidity” and “frustration.”

It sounds like she is his defence counsel.

Kyrgios’ psychologist, Sam Borenstein, said in a written report and testimony by phone that Kyrgios had suffered major depressive episodes in the past and had used alcohol and drugs to cope. Kyrgios’mental health led to impulsive and reckless behavior.

Did his mental health lead to such behaviour, or was it the alcohol and drugs?

and insomnia during their relationship.

His knee injury this month had resulted in mild to moderate symptoms of depression, but his mental health was improving, Borenstein said.

“He’s doing very well,” Borenstein said. “His mental health has improved significantly.”

Lawyers for Kyrgios had sought to have an assault charge stemming from events two years ago dismissed on mental health grounds but the application was unsuccessful.

In February last year, Kyrgios opened up about his performance at the 2019 Australian Open, saying what appeared to be a positive time in his life had been “one of my darkest periods.”

“I was lonely, depressed, negative, abusing alcohol, drugs, pushed away family and friends,” he wrote on Instagram. “I felt as if I couldn’t talk or trust anyone. This was a result of not opening up and refusing to lean on my loved ones and simply just push myself little by little to be positive.”

Kyrgios made further references to his mental health struggles during his runs to the final at Wimbledon and the quarterfinals at the US Open.

After ending Daniil Medvedev’s US Open title defense in September last year to reach the quarterfinals, Kyrgios expressed pride at lifting himself out of “some really tough situations, mentally” and “some really scary places” off the court.
