'Proud pedophile' doctor who raped boy with Down's syndrome in shower sentenced
Le Scouarnec admitted to 111 counts of rape and 188 sexual assaults, receiving the maximum sentence of 20 years in prison
A 74 year old retired GP from Liège, Belgium, has been sentenced to five years in prison for sexually abusing a young boy with Down's syndrome. The court heard that the abuse took place in March and May 2021, with the child revealing he had been assaulted twice by the defendant.
One of these incidents occurred during a shared shower at the doctor's house after a sports session. Despite the doctor denying the allegations, his explanations were inconsistent and a medical examination confirmed signs of sexual abuse.
A psychological report also described the former GP as having a narcissistic personality. In an earlier trial, the prosecution had asked for a six-year sentence due to the child's vulnerability, while the defense argued for acquittal or a suspended sentence.

This case emerges amidst a horrifying instance of medical child abuse in France. In May, Joel Le Scouarnec, a 74 year old pedophile surgeon, was convicted for sexually abusing hundreds of individuals, the majority being underage patients, over several decades.
Le Scouarnec admitted to 111 counts of rape and 188 sexual assaults, receiving the maximum sentence of 20 years in prison. He had previously been incarcerated in 2020 for the rape and sexual assault of his child neighbor, his two nieces, and a four year old patient, reports the Mirror.

During the probe, authorities uncovered electronic diaries chronicling three decades of sexual abuse on young patients at hospitals and medical centers throughout western France. His victims included 158 males and 141 females, with an average age of 11.
All charges were aggravated due to his esteemed position as a medic, which prosecutors argued allowed him to avoid punishment for such a long period.
