QUITO - The father of Ecuador's vice president was sentenced to 20 years for raping a 13-year-old girl, the prosecutor's office said Saturday.
Jorge Glas Viejo, 74, was convicted on September 2 of sexually abusing the girl, who became pregnant, in 2011 when he was director of her school.
The vice president has remained outside the proceedings against his father, with whom he has a distant relationship.
