A Bowie, Maryland, USA man convicted earlier this year of sexually abusing an 11-year-old boy at a public pool in Maryland was sentenced to six years in prison Friday, authorities said, the third time he’s been sentenced in a child sex-abuse case over the past two years.
Michael David Brochu, 54, will now face 92 years in prison for all three cases spanning between 2011 and 2012, according to the Prince George’s County State’s Attorney’s Office.
The most recent sentencing for Brochu stems back to a 2011 case when a boy said Brochu had abused him in the showers of the Whitehall Pool and Tennis Club, authorities said. In July, a Prince George’s County jury found Brochu guilty of three counts of third-degree sex offenses.
Last year, Brochu was found guilty in two other child sex abuse cases involving his neighbor’s children, and in the early 1980s he was convicted in Howard County of child sex abuse. The judge who had sentenced Brochu in previous cases last year called him a “predatory pedophile.”
I might have called him something different. Anyway, he's where he should be and will not molest another child. Thank God! This is one of the things we pray for - that if God can't save a pedophile, that He would render him incapable of harming another child. Brochu is finished.
