Raymond Stevenson, who discovered the ‘Bang Bang’ singer when she was 15-years-old, is hoping his powerful new track will enable more former residents of the Shirley Oaks children’s home to pluck up the courage to come forward.

Hundreds of victims have since claimed they were abused there by members of staff and local councilors, as well as celebrities including Jimmy Savile and a top politician, who cannot be named for legal reasons.
Shirley Oaks is one of 20 children’s homes run by the London Borough of Lambeth to be investigated as part of The Goddard Inquiry, the biggest ever public inquiry into cases of child sexual abuse by public and private institutions in England and Wales.
Raymond, who left the care home in 1978 aged 13, has helped set up The Shirley Oaks Survivors Association (SOSA).
