Russian police to investigate Netflix over LGBT movies & series

Russia’s police will launch an investigation into streaming service Netflix after complaints from a “family protection” activist that the American company is spreading propaganda of “non-traditional sexual relations” among minors.
According to Moscow daily Vedomosti, Olga Baranets wrote to the authorities complaining about a number of TV shows, including Elite, Young Royals, and Sex Education.
Olga Baranets is the leader of a group named the “Public Commission for Family Protection,” which proclaims to support “the rights of families and children.” According to the activist, Netflix has broken the law.
In 2013, Russia enacted what is known colloquially as the “gay propaganda law,” which implemented restrictions on the endorsement of “non-traditional sexual values among minors.” In Baranets’ opinion, some movies and TV shows on Netflix are in violation of these legal requirements. Following the complaint, Russia’s Interior Ministry will conduct an investigation. If found guilty, Netflix could face a fine of up to 1 million rubles ($13,400).
How absurd is that? Netflix could pay that fine 10 times a day and not notice any difference in revenue.
Earlier this month, a Moscow court fined Russian music channel ‘Muz TV’ under the same law after a series of incidents during a music awards ceremony. The show made headlines after showing pop stars Philipp Kirkorov and Dava in a white car surrounded by topless male models. The channel also broadcasted video of blogger Igor Sinyak wearing a dress and social media star Danya Milohin donning a half-tuxedo half-dress combo.
The exact reason for the fine was not announced by media watchdog Roskomnadzor.
The “gay propaganda” legislation has been criticized internationally, with detractors both at home and abroad calling it an attack on LGBT rights. Ruling party politicians have even questioned the law, with then-MP Oksana Pushkina saying last year that state policy “needs to be adjusted.”

Dutch government apologizes for sterilizing trans people

The Dutch government has apologized for a past law requiring that transgender people be sterilized to legally change their gender. The law existed until 2014, and similar laws are still on the books in some European countries.
“Nobody should have experienced what you went through. I am truly sorry that it happened,” Minister for Education, Culture and Science Ingrid van Engelshoven said in The Hague on Saturday. “Standards about what a body should look like do not belong in a law and a law should never force people to undergo an operation,” she added. “And today I make our deeply sincere apologies for this on behalf of the full Cabinet.”
Between 1985 and 2014, the Netherlands allowed citizens to legally change their gender, provided they undergo genital surgery and are left sterile afterwards. The law was scrapped under pressure from LGBT activists, including Human Rights Watch, which described it as “needlessly traumatizing.”
Now, a psychological evaluation is all that is required to legally change one’s gender in the Netherlands.
In other words, no biological difference is required - a completely unscientific decision.
Some 420 people claim to have been victimized by the law, AP reported. They have been offered 5,000 euro ($5,650) in compensation, an amount that activists at Transgender Network Nederland argue is too low.
The European Court of Human rights banned such sterilization laws in 2017, by which time they still existed on the books in 22 of the 47 countries that were party to the European Convention.
The court’s ruling did not mandate that these states change their laws, but established a legal precedent for court cases on the matter at national level. At present, sterilization laws still exist in Czechia, Finland, Latvia, Slovakia, and nine other countries covered by the 2017 ruling.
My biggest problem with adult transgenders is that so many men who transition to women, without genital surgery, are ending up in women's prisons putting women at risk. There is no scientific or common sense reason for this and it is cruel and unusual punishment of female prisoners. Trans women should be made to have genital surgery to remove their male apparatus, or, at the least, be castrated before entering a women's prison.

Britain’s transgender prison population has grown by a fifth in two years, a new report states. Most are biological men identifying as women, and the increase was noted after the High Court ruled they could be jailed with women.
According to a Ministry of Justice report seen by The Telegraph, 197 prisoners serving sentences in England and Wales identified as transgender in 2021, a 21% increase from 163 in 2019. In a separate category, the report counts 23 prisoners who have legally changed their gender and obtained a Gender Recognition Certificate.
Most of these transgender prisoners were born men and now identify as women. “When asked about the gender with which the prisoner identified from the following categories, 146 identified as female, 39 as male, 11 as non-binary and one did not provide a response,” the report reads.
Back in July, the High Court ruled that the government may house male-born transgender women in women’s prisons, even those convicted of sexual offences. While Lord Justice Holroyde said he accepted that female prisoners may suffer “fear and anxiety” if forced to share a cell with a transgender woman with male genitalia, he added that excluding these people from female prisons would “ignore, impermissibly, the rights of transgender women to live in their chosen gender.”

Transgender women may be housed in female prisons in England and Wales even if they have not undergone gender reassignment treatment or don’t have a Gender Recognition Certificate.
Female inmates have repeatedly spoken out against such policies, and the case that led to the July ruling was brought by one such woman. The inmate, known as FDJ, took legal action against the Ministry of Justice after claiming she had been sexually assaulted by a trans woman at HMP Bronzefield near London in 2017. Her alleged attacker, who had a Gender Recognition Certificate (GRC), had previous convictions including manslaughter and attempted rape.
Activists fear that with more inmates identifying as transgender, similar cases will become more common. “As the numbers increase, so does the risk to women in prison due to MoJ policies that permit some of these prisoners to be housed in the female estate,” Kate Coleman of ‘Keep Prisons Single Sex’ told The Telegraph.
Polish government vows to root out ‘morally corrupting’ sex ed

Poland’s education minister has sided with parents seeking to wrestle sex education out of schools, promising that it would now be easier to give “morally corrupting” voluntary programs the boot.
From now on, it would be easier for parents to request that sex education programs are not taught in school, Education Minister Przemyslaw Czarnek announced on Friday, citing a decision adopted at the last cabinet meeting.
“At the request of parents, the education superintendent will be able to block … the introduction of content into schools that is morally corrupting for children,” Czarnek said.
The minister singled out one of the programs, dubbed ‘Healthy Love’, that was rolled out by the authorities in the northern city of Gdansk in 2017, but suspended in March 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
‘Healthy Love’ provided sex education to secondary school pupils as part of a “procreation support program.” Participation required the consent of parents, who were able to pick the specific classes their children could attend.
“If the mayor wants to provide this type of education to children in Gdansk, she can do it in premises that belong to the city, but not at school,” Czarnek said.
The conservative minister has repeatedly criticized sex education in school. Earlier this year, he floated the idea of teaching children about sexuality – as well as business – using writings penned by the late Pope John Paul II.
Poland is still predominantly Catholic. It would be a good thing to eliminate a lot of the PCMadness that disguises itself as sex education and is destroying children in western schools. There is, however, a desperate need for teaching children about child sexual abuse - good touch, bad touch, etc., like Erin's Law in the USA.
Scottish schoolgirls ‘boycott gender-neutral toilets’

The introduction of gender-neutral toilets in Scottish schools hasn’t panned out as activists hoped, with girls in one school reportedly refusing to use the facilities due to misbehaviour and vandalism by boys.
Gender-neutral bathrooms are becoming increasingly common in Scottish educational institutes. Schools in Angus, Dundee, East Renfrewshire and Edinburgh have all introduced such facilities, and all new school buildings – primary and secondary – in Edinburgh will soon have unisex toilets and communal hand-washing facilities by default. This move to gender neutrality is supported by Scottish National Party politicians and by the Scottish Equality and Human Rights Commission, which warned schools in 2019 that they leave themselves open to lawsuits by not providing such facilities.
However, the implementation of ‘gender-blind’ bathrooms hasn’t been a smooth one. Scottish Borders Councillor Harry Scott told a council meeting on Thursday that in one school, “there have been instances of boys waving sanitary products like flags and urinating in sanitary bins,” according to the Southern Reporter.
Girls at the school have “gone days without using toilets on campus due to sharing facilities,” the report claimed. The school in question added afterwards that it was “unaware” of these incidents, and noted that within the shared bathrooms, some individual cubicles were reserved for each sex.
Yet students of both genders still share common areas within these bathrooms. “Why is it not possible to have male, female and gender-neutral toilets which would cater for the needs of everyone?” Scott said at the meeting. “Why can that not be achieved in our schools?”
That would not meet the LGBTQ-driven narrative!
Parents across Scotland have pushed back against gender-neutral toilets in secondary schools, which can see 12-year-old girls using the same facilities as 18-year-old men. These facilities are unpopular with the Scottish public too, and a recent poll showed 56% of Scots opposing them, and only 21% were in favour. Some 22% said they supported gender-neutral toilets, but only alongside traditional single-sex bathrooms.
“I would like to know who is pressing for gender-neutral toilets because it’s not parents,” feminist campaigner Marion Calder told The Times on Friday. “I suspect it is coming from LGBTQ guidance award schemes.”
The LGBTQ lobby has waaaay too much influence in schools. And don't forget, very few of them are parents. It needs to stop!

Russian cross-country skiing star Veronika Stepanova has shared her thoughts on the International Olympic Committee’s recent guidelines on transgender athletes – asking fans if they want to see her race rivals who were born men.
The IOC caused controversy with its new 10-point guidelines covering transgender participation in sport earlier this month. Among the most contentious points was the suggestion that transgender women should no longer need to reduce their levels of testosterone to compete in female categories.
Stepanova, 20, responded to the news on her Instagram account, sharing a screenshot of the IOC guidance along with her thoughts.
“From the endless and beautifully written 10 Points, it became clear that the flag between inclusiveness and fairness is finally shifting towards the first,” wrote Stepanova.
“Now any comrade with all the primary and secondary sex characteristics of a man can declare himself a person of the opposite sex and enter the competition as a woman.
“In theory, there’s a point under which a person may be denied the right to feel like a girl in a race – but the organizers will have to prove that he’s a swindler in pursuit of medals – he doesn’t need to prove or show anything at all, it’s enough to declare that he’s felt like a woman for a long time.
“I just have one question: will you watch races where I compete against a two-meter-tall former John, now [called] Conchita?
“I warn you: I won’t allow any hate in the comments, everyone who’s too active in this direction will be banned immediately, without warning.
“We’re only discussing this aspect: Are you personally interested in the show of ‘cisgender women versus transgender women’ or not?”
Stepanova has not been shy in sharing her views on topical debates, recently questioning fellow athletes for apparently mixing politics and sport by promoting Amnesty International.
Stepanova is a former Nordic world junior champion who is now part of the senior Russia team as they prepare for the Beijing Olympics in February.
Her coach Igor Sorin recently said he was not concerned by her use of Instagram. “First of all, I’m a coach, not a mom, dad or nanny,” said Sorin. “Her hobby doesn’t affect the training process at all. Veronika devotes herself completely to her work, the dedication is transcendental.
“I can give her some advice on what she does outside of sports, but so far I don’t see the need for this.”
Stepanova will miss the first stage of this year’s FIS World Cup in Ruka, Finland, but is set to compete at the stage in Lillehammer in Norway in December, according to Sorin.
