In this report, I travelled to Telford where journalist Tommy Robinson premiered to a crowd of around 1,500 people his new documentary titled "The Rape of Britain". The documentary follows a grooming gangs rape survivor, inevitably leading to a big investigation that uncovers corruption from the police, the council and the social services — where the issue of grooming gangs is once again being swept under the rug.

Raith Rovers' women's captain took her stance after

David Goodwillie was brought in on deadline day

Female footballer quits after team signs player who was ruled a rapist

The captain of Raith Rovers' women's football team has quit the club after its men's counterpart signed a player who was sued for rape in 2017.

Tyler Rattray made her announcement via Twitter on Tuesday in response to David Goodwillie being brought in on deadline day.

"After 10 long years playing for Raith, it’s gutting I have given up now because they have signed someone like this and I want nothing to do with it!" Rattray wrote.

"It was good being captain of Raith while it lasted."

Rattray's decision follows anger from fans and employees of the club after the former Clyde man was officially brought in to end weeks of speculation that triggered concerns.

One of the most prominent critics of the signing of Goodwillie is famous supporter and feminist Val McDermid, who said that the thought of Goodwillie donning Raith Rovers' shirt made her feel "physically sick".

"I have this morning ended my lifelong support of Raith Rovers over their signing of the rapist David Goodwillie," the 17-million copy-selling author revealed on Twitter.

"I have canceled next season’s shirt sponsorship over this disgusting and despicable move. This shatters any claim to be a community or family club," McDermid continued.

"Goodwillie has never expressed a shred of remorse for the rape he committed. His presence at Starks Park is a stain on the club. I’ll be tearing up my season ticket too. This is a heartbreaker for me and many other fans, I know," she concluded.

Along with a fellow footballer, David Robertson, Goodwillie was sued for damages for rape by Denise Clair in 2017.

As part of a landmark case where the victim waived her right to anonymity, the accused weren't prosecuted yet a civil court ruled that the pair had raped Clair following a night out in West Lothian in 2011 which saw her awarded £100,000 ($135,000) in damages.

Goodwillie and Robertson denied the allegation and lost an appeal against the judgment.

Yet despite this and the backlash that has come amid the signing, Raith have stood by Goodwillie.

"As announced on our website last night, Raith Rovers FC can confirm that we have signed David Goodwillie from Clyde FC," began a statement.

"David is a proven goal scorer, and this will be his second stint with the club, having previously played for us on loan from Dundee United during season 2007-08," it continued.

"Please be assured that as a community football club we fully acknowledge this signing has divided opinion amongst our loyal fans and commercial stakeholders; we aim to rebuild that trust.

Hmmmm, sure doesn't look like it.

Other figures to step down from their roles at the club or cut ties with it include former chairman and director of youth development and community development Bill Clark, supporter liaison officer Margie Robertson, stadium announcer Johnny Macdonald and midfielder Georgia Spry.

"Gutted I no longer have a club to play for but as long as he puts on that shirt I won’t," wrote Spry on Twitter.

"Loved my time at Raith but guess it’s time for a new chapter."

Also on the social media network, First Minister of Scotland Nicola Sturgeon voiced her support for Rattray and McDermid for taking "principled" stances that were difficult for them.

"But the fact they’re in this position at all reminds us that our society still has a way to go to make zero tolerance of sexual violence a reality," Sturgeon added.

Predatory paedophile raped 11-year-old girl after grooming her

on SnapChat

When police examined Alex Prosser's phone they found pictures and videos

of babies being sexually abused

WalesOnline

A man raped a vulnerable 11-year-old girl in his flat after grooming her on the messaging app Snapchat.

When police arrested Alex Prosser they found more than 1,200 films and pictures on his phone showing babies and children being sexually abused. A report into the defendant described him as the "epitome of a predator paedophile".

His barrister said the 34-year-old has a deep sense of shame for what he had done - "as he should".

Swansea Crown Court heard that Prosser initially made contact with another child on Snapchat, and through her went on to start communicating with an 11-year-old girl.

Carina Hughes, prosecuting, said the girl made her age clear to the defendant and he told her he was 16. She said Prosser then engaged in "clear grooming behaviour" including making persistent requests for naked pictures of the youngster and sending her photos and videos of his penis.

The defendant arranged for the child to go to his flat, and when she arrived he cuddled her on his bed before touching her breasts and genitals. Prosser then made the child perform oral sex on him.

The court heard the abuse came to light after the girl's mother found the Snapchat exchanges, contacted Prosser to confront him and then reported the matter to the police.

Miss Hughes said when officers went to the defendant's Port Talbot flat he was not at home - but officers found blood outside the property and forced entry. Inside they found a trail of blood, and a bloody knife.

An injured Prosser was subsequently located on the slipway near the RNLI station on Aberavon seafront. His phone was seized and examined, and on it officers found 1,249 indecent videos and pictures, including 700 Category A images showing the most extreme kinds of sexual abuse. The court heard some of the children in the images were estimated to be around 18 months old.

Prosser subsequently gave a largely "no comment" interview but told officers he had been "waiting to die for the last 10 years" and said his life was difficult and he had "had enough".

In an impact statement from the victim's mum, which was read to the court, she said that since learning of the abuse she had trouble sleeping - but when she does sleep, she had nightmares about what had happened to her daughter. She said the young girl rarely talks about she went through but when she does "she blames herself and apologises". The mum added that what had happened to the family was "every mother's worst nightmare".

Alex Prosser, of Trinity Court, Port Talbot, had previously pleaded guilty to the rape of a child under 13, assault of a child under 13 by penetration, causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, three counts of possessing incident images of Class A, B and C, and possession of extreme pornography when he appeared in the dock for sentencing. He has no previous convictions.

Eugene Hickey, for Prosser, said it was clear from a pre-sentence report that the defendant led a lonely and isolated life and suffered from depression and low self-esteem which had led him to self-harm. The barrister said the main mitigation he could forward were his client's guilty pleas which meant there would be no trial, adding: "He has a deep sense of shame - as he should."

Judge Catherine Richards told Prosser he had raped and sexually assaulted a vulnerable young girl. She said she had carefully considered the contents of the pre-sentence report into the defendant - the author of which had described him as the "epitome of a predator paedophile" - and she was persuaded that an extended sentence was necessary.

With discounts for his guilty pleas, Prosser was given a 13-year extended sentence comprising 10 years in custody with a three-year extended licence period. The defendant must serve two-thirds of the custodial element before he can apply for release but it will be for the Parole Board to decide if he can be let out at that point. He was also made the subject of an indefinite sexual harm prevention order, and will be a registered sex offender for the rest of his life.

So, he could be out in 5 or 6 years, while the victim is still a teenager. That's just not right!

Australian Parliament apologizes to victims of rape and bullying

An in-depth review of Parliament workplace culture is underway for national govt offices

Australia’s Prime Minister Scott Morrison and other high-ranking authorities said they were sorry on Tuesday to every worker who had experienced sexual assault and bullying during their career in federal Parliament.

The statements were made both in the House of Representatives and the Senate on the first sitting day of the Australian Parliament, and an apology was the first part of a set of recommendations proposed.

A detailed review into the workplace culture of Australian government offices had been conducted after a female staffer alleged she was raped in minister’s office in 2019.

The review got underway last March and was headed by Sex Discrimination Commissioner Kate Jenkins. It stated that Parliament had what was described as a “boys club” culture of “bullying, sexual harassment and sexual assault,” while finding out that one in three members of staff in the parliamentary offices was a victim of sexual harassment.

The review was sparked when former Liberal staff member Brittany Higgins alleged she was raped by a colleague in a minister’s office in 2019. According to her, she was pressured not to go to the police after the incident took place ahead of the elections. She first made the allegation last February and spoke out against the “culture of silence” present in Australian political parties.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison addressed Ms. Higgins directly, apologizing and thanking her for her role in exposing the issue and speaking out about what many Parliament workers had experienced.

“I am sorry to Ms. Higgins for the terrible things that took place here. The place that should have been a place for safety, that turned out to be a nightmare… I am sorry for far more than that. All those that came before Ms. Higgins … but she had the courage to speak, and so here we are,” he told Parliament, adding that the people responsible for this behavior will be exposed, and that the statements made on Tuesday indicated the commitment of all members of the body to make it a safer place for all workers.

Opposition Leader Anthony Albanese joined Morrison’s apologies on behalf of the Labour party, and thanked Higgins for her courage as well, stating his party’s commitment to change the workplace culture.

Andrew Wallace, Speaker of the House of Representatives, as well as Slade Brockman, President of the Senate, read statements and expressed their gratitude to the people who came forward to make complaints and share their experiences.

Brittany Higgins, as well as other women who became victims of sexual harassment on the part of Australian lawmakers, were watching the statements from the gallery. Among them was Rachelle Miller, who had a relationship with Education Minister Alan Tudge and accused him of being abusive. She welcomed the official apology and said she felt “vindicated,” as quoted by local ABC News.

‘Pedophile protector’ mobbed outside UK Parliament

Opposition leader Sir Keir Starmer was accosted by anti-lockdown protesters outside parliament and accused of being a “traitor” and of “protecting pedophiles” on Monday evening.

The anti-lockdown protesters chanted the name of deceased sex predator Jimmy Savile, and repeated Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s heavily criticized accusation that Starmer had failed to prosecute Savile when he led the Crown Prosecution Service.

The demonstrators followed Starmer and David Lammy, the shadow foreign secretary, along the Victoria Embankment as they walked back to parliament after attending a briefing on Ukraine at the Ministry of Defense. Starmer eventually had to be escorted by officers to a nearby police car.

The mob also protested over the arrest of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange and expressed their opposition to Covid restrictions, the vast majority of which have already been removed.

A spokesperson for the police said two people had been arrested at the scene in connection with the assault of an emergency worker. A traffic cone was among the objects thrown at an officer.

Johnson was quick to condemn the mob.

“The behaviour directed at the Leader of the Opposition tonight is absolutely disgraceful. All forms of harassment of our elected representatives are completely unacceptable. I thank the police for responding swiftly,” the prime minister tweeted.

MPs further criticized the PM on Tuesday for his original comments in which he accused the opposition leader of being responsible for failing to prosecute Savile.

Johnson has been widely criticized for his false claim which even prompted the resignation of the PM’s policy chief and long-term adviser Munira Mirza. Mirza, the first of six aides to leave following the Partygate scandal, said she did not agree with Johnson’s assertion.

Tobias Ellwood, the Conservative MP who chairs the Commons Defence Committee, warned of a “drift towards a Trumpian style of politics,” and encouraged the PM to withdraw his comments and say sorry.

The family of murdered MP Jo Cox also condemned Johnson for provoking the attack. Kim Leadbeater MP, Cox’s sister, said “words have consequences,” once again referencing the prime minister’s accusations in parliament.
