Mississippi man, Louisiana woman arrested for child sex crimes
A Louisiana woman was arrested for allegedly recording herself committing sexual abuse of two children and sharing the recordings with a Mississippi man at his request.
According to Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill, 47-year-old Lacy Amedio faces two counts of first-degree rape among a handful of other charges related to the alleged crime, while 36-year-old Corey Monk, of Walnut Grove, faces two principal charges related to the viewing of the crime.
The investigation, carried out by the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation, Homeland Security Investigations, Slidell (La.) Police Department, Mississippi Attorney General’s Office, and Scott County Sheriff’s Office, was initiated by a cybertip submitted by a private citizen. The tip reported that an adult female and produced and distributed pictures and videos of child sexual abuse material involving a toddler.
According to the Louisiana Attorney General’s Office, agents identified Amedio and the children involved in the videos. The investigation later discovered that she had distributed the materials to who would later be identified as Monk, who had requested the images and videos.
Amedio was reportedly arrested in her home state, while Monk was taken into custody by Mississippi law enforcement in his home. Amedio was given a $2 million bond. Monk’s bond is currently unknown.
Amedio’s full charges are: six counts of production of child sexual abuse material, six counts of indecent behavior with juveniles, four counts of sexual battery, three counts of possession of child sexual abuse material, and two counts of first-degree rape. All charges are felonious as they involved children under the age of 13.
Monk is charged with one count of principals to child sexual abuse material and one count of principals to first-degree rape; both involving children under the age of 13.
'Abhorrent': Man Convicted of Sexually Abusing Girl Between Ages of 7 and 11: DA
The abuse was uncovered when the child heard a presentation about "unsafe touch" at school and bravely told a social worker, the DA says.
The Guatemalan national, who was living in Shirley, was found guilty by a jury of first-degree course of sexual conduct against a child, Tierney said.
The young girl disclosed the abuse to her school’s social worker following a class presentation on bodily autonomy, the DA said.
The District Attorney’s Office is not naming the defendant to protect the identity of the child.
The evidence at trial established that the man began dating the victim’s mother in the beginning of 2020, the DA said.
In November 2020, when the child was seven years old, her mother began working the night shift at a restaurant and relied on the man to watch the girl while she was at work, Tierney said.
He began sexually abusing the child while her mother was at work, the DA said.
In December 2020, the man moved into a residence with the mother and child in Shirley, where the abuse continued and escalated for the next four years, Tierney said.
In December 2024, when the girl was 11 years old, her school guidance counselor gave a presentation to students about what to do if they ever received an "unsafe touch," the DA said.
A few days later, the man sexually abused the child again, and the child disclosed the abuse to the school’s social worker, the DA said.
The man was arrested the following day, Tierney said.
On Tuesday, the defendant was convicted after a jury trial heard before Supreme Court iJustice Timothy P. Mazzei, of first-degree course of sexual conduct against a child, a class B violent felony, and endangering the welfare of a child, a class A misdemeanor, Tierney said.
The man is due back in court on December 1 for sentencing and faces up to 25 years in prison; he will also be a required to register as a sex offender, Tierney said.
He is represented by William Ferro; Ferro was not immediately available for comment.
The defendant is currently in the United States illegally; the United States Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement has also lodged a detainer to deport the defendant after he serves his sentence, the DA said.
"The defendant was entrusted with the care of this young child, only to violate that trust in the most abhorrent way," Tierney said. "I am grateful to this brave young victim for coming forward and thank the school’s administration for taking the time to teach children about body safety. One presentation gave this child the confidence to tell a trusted adult, and this defendant will now be held to account for his criminal behavior."
New Jersey pre-K aide allegedly filmed himself abusing children in bathroom and during nap time

WOODBINE, N.J. -- A 44-year-old former teacher's aide at an elementary school in New Jersey was read dozens of new charges during a court appearance Monday, including manufacturing child pornography and aggravated sexual assault, according to prosecutors.
Shaun Stebbins appeared in court virtually as authorities outlined the new allegations, which stem from an investigation that began in the spring. Police have since identified additional alleged victims, including children as young as 3 and 4 years old.
Prosecutors allege Stebbins abused multiple preschool-aged children in his care at Woodbine Elementary in Cape May County, where he worked as a teacher's aide from 2022 until his arrest in March.

"How can we heal from this? How can we move on so this doesn't happen again?" Victoria London of Woodbine said.
"There has to be more eyes and more ears, more listening," London said. "And maybe there needs to be a better screening."
Maybe there is no need for men as child care-givers, at all.
Stebbins was first arrested in March and accused of sexually abusing four children, all siblings, in his Somers Point home for more than a decade. Investigators said the allegations date back to 2012 and that the victims reported the abuse continued until 2025.
According to prosecutors, one of the alleged victims came forward as an adult in March, prompting investigators to examine whether abuse had also occurred at Woodbine Elementary.

Prosecutors said a search of Stebbins' electronic devices uncovered numerous images and videos of students from the school.
Court documents allege Stebbins photographed and recorded children's genitalia in school bathrooms and recorded himself performing sexual acts on children in the bathroom and during nap time.
Stebbins was ordered to remain detained pending his next court hearing on Nov. 4.
The school district referred all questions to its attorneys, who had not responded to requests for comment at the time of publication.
Serial child molester gets life for abuse of toddler
SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Office of Hays County Criminal District Attorney Kelly Higgins announced today that 68-year-old Mark Douglas Rodriguez was convicted of super aggravated sexual assault of a child by a Hays County jury on Nov. 2, 2026. The defendant elected to have the jury decide his punishment, and they quickly returned a verdict of life in prison.
The evidence at trial showed that in June 2024, police were dispatched to a home in Kyle, Texas, where Rodriguez was reported for rubbing his genitals on a toddler’s mouth. The child's mother caught him in the act. The child’s DNA was later found on the defendant’s genitals.
During the punishment phase, the jury learned that Rodriguez had been a registered sex offender since the 1990s following a conviction for a sex offense. Additionally, another victim came forward and testified that when she was a child, the defendant had violated her in multiple ways.
Assistant District Attorneys Katie Arnold and Phillip Guebert prosecuted this case.
“Justice isn’t always fast, but we’re glad that this multi-generational predator is now where he belongs,” said Arnold. “We’re thankful for the bravery of each victim who has come forward. We’re also thankful for the mom of this little 2-year-old girl for being her child’s voice.”
Rodriguez is not eligible for parole on super aggravated sexual assault of a child.
