40,000 girls become child brides every single day
- 7600 of them are under the age of 15.
Below is a 20 minute video by two journalists who investigated this phenomena across south Asia and Africa. They were surprised at the complexity of the issue as they discovered aspects of child marriages they did not expect.
Child brides are more prevalent in Muslim countries, but are also to be found in large numbers in Buddhist, Hindu, and Christian societies. In most countries it is against the law, but there is little that authorities can do to rectify the situation without making life even worse for some of the girls.
Please take a few minutes to get an understanding of this dreadful problem and the difficulty in bringing it to an end.
Then pray!
