After the acts, her father would discuss them with her, telling her they were wrong and that disclosure would get him in trouble and upset her mother. The abuse stopped in 2023. In late 2025 she began remembering it while struggling mentally and told her father, who apologized. In January 2026, she attempted suicide. She then confided in a friend. The father learned of this, told his wife, and turned himself in to police in March 2026. He has acknowledged having sexual urges toward children.

At a sentencing hearing in late August 2026, the Crown sought at least 10 years in prison plus a 10-year no-contact order with the victim and her mother. The defence requested 3–7 years, citing the guilty plea that spared the victim from testifying. Sentencing is scheduled for September 15, 2026.

Havemann-Niedrach will spend the next 12 years in jail, a Monmouth County judge ruled on Friday after the victim, who was not identified, read an emotional impact statement in which he described their relationship as a “nightmare.”

He said that he forgave the former teacher — which caused her to break down crying in the courtroom.

Her husband and parents attended her legal proceedings before she pleaded guilty in January to sexually assaulting the boy when he was in eighth grade over a six-month period in 2024, Jersey Shore Online reported last year.

It was not immediately clear if Havemann-Niedrach and her husband are still married.

After his wife’s arrest, Eric Niedrach launched a desperate plea for money titled “Help provide normalcy” to keep her daughter in Taekwondo classes.

“I continue to stand by my wife and my daughters as I believe in grace and forgiveness and I believe that is what Jesus would do,” he wrote on the online fundraiser page, which only raised a paltry $85 out of the $4,000 requested.

“Additionally, my mother taught me that God is good all the time, even when it doesn’t feel that way. I believe there is a bigger picture being painted by His hand, and I know my family and I will come out stronger on the other side,” he continued.

“Allison is doing ok. She is receiving the mental help she has desperately needed all of her life but was denied by her family,” he wrote.

Officials began investigating Havemann-Niedrach after the school’s vice principal reported concerns about her relationship with the teen when another teacher allegedly saw her rubbing his neck and back, touching his leg, and flirting.

She became “obsessed” with the boy, and sent him a whopping 25,000 text messages during the fling, prosecutors said.

The boy bragged to his friends he was dating his teacher and eventually told cops he had sex with the teacher after his mom dragged him to the police station.

“People were saying that the teacher was texting, that they were texting each other inappropriate pictures,” said Heather Kotler, the mother of another boy in the victim’s grade, told Jersey Shore Online.

 “This was something that all the eighth-grade students were talking about,” Kotler said. 

Havemann-Niedrach was arrested at her parents’ home on June 27, 2024, according to bodycam footage obtained by Jersey Shore Online.

She did not appear surprised and told the officers that her phone had been “destroyed.”

“I lost it today and it got run over,” she said in the clip.

Havemann-Niedrach must serve at least 85% of her sentence as part of a plea deal, Jill G. O’Malley ruled.

She’s also required to become a registered sex offender and her teaching certifications have been revoked.

Havemann-Niedrach was ordered to never contact the victim or his family ever again.

Witness statements suggest Eddie Acosta may have acted inappropriately with other underage athletes, police said.

VERNON HILLS, Ill. (WLS) -- North suburban police are searching for a coach accused of sexually abusing a 12-year-old softball player.

Vernon Hills police said 54-year-old Hoffman Estates man Eduardo "Eddie" Acosta-Gonzalez is charged with two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse. If convicted, he faces up to 15 years in prison for each count.

Based on a referral from the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services, police investigated Eddie Acosta's conduct while he served as the child's softball hitting coach at a Vernon Hills sports performance center where he had rented space.

Police said their efforts to find and arrest Acosta have been unsuccessful, and he may have left the state. Known youth programs affiliated with Acosta were notified about the investigation, but whether he continues to have access to juvenile athletes was not immediately clear.

"This investigation remains very much active," Vernon Hills Deputy Chief Shannon Holubetz said.

Holubetz said there were two incidents earlier this spring and summer. Acosta allegedly massaged the young girl and touched her chest and groin.

"We are extraordinarily grateful for this victim coming forward. It's hard enough for the average person to do, let alone a child," Holubetz said.

A warrant for Acosta's arrest was issued last Friday.

"We are actively working on several leads right now and working to get him taken into custody," Holubetz said.

The parking lot at Gorilla Baseball Academy was nearly empty on Friday. Owner Jason Dolenga confirmed he is aware of the investigation and said he learned of it last week.

"I revoked [Acosta's] access to the building that same day," Dolenga wrote in a statement to ABC7. "[Acosta] has no ongoing role with Gorilla Baseball Academy or Gorilla Baseball Club and will not return."

Dolenga characterized Acosta as "an outside instructor who rented space."

"Any time an adult uses a position of trust or authority to cultivate an inappropriate relationship, it's a matter of grave concern to us," Holubetz said.

Witness statements also suggest Acosta may have acted inappropriately with other underage athletes, police said. He is believed to have offered private coaching throughout the Chicago area, but he was known to train and coach most recently in Vernon Hills and Wauconda.

Police encouraged parents of athletes trained by Acosta to speak with their children and report suspicious conduct to police. Vernon Hills police asked anyone with information to contact the Investigations Division at 847-918-5605 or via email at pdtips@vhills.org.

"[If] you feel as though anything inappropriate or illegal happened, we want to hear from you," Holubetz said. "We have investigators standing by. You will be heard."

Former teacher at Wicomico High School facing child sex abuse charges

WICOMICO COUNTY, Md. - A man was arrested after authorities say he sexually abused and exploited a student at Wicomico High School while he was a teacher.

The Wicomico Child Advocacy Center says it began an investigation into Chance Michael Hogue on Aug. 11, 2026.

Detectives say Hogue began employment with Wicomico County Public Schools in 2021. He was employed as a teacher at Wicomico High School for about three years and was previously employed by Choices Academy. Investigators say the victim, a minor, was a student at Wicomico High School. Hogue is no longer employed by WCPS.

On Aug. 24, 2026, a Wicomico County Grand Jury indicted Hogue on the following charges:

• Two counts of Sexual Abuse of a Minor
• Two counts of Attempted Sexual Abuse of a Minor

Punta Gorda Middle School teacher arraigned on child sexual abuse charges

SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - Brian Pavluchuk, 40, was criminally arraigned in a Sarasota County courtroom Friday morning, facing multiple severe charges stemming from alleged child sexual abuse dating back over a decade.

Pavluchuk, a former history and civics teacher at Punta Gorda Middle School, was arrested on July 24, 2026, by the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office. The arrest followed a report from a former child victim who came forward regarding multiple incidents of sexual abuse that allegedly occurred in Sarasota County between 2014 and 2017.

Pavluchuk now faces:

• Three counts of sexual battery on a person under the age of 12

Pavluchuk spent the prior decade, following his service in the U.S. Marines, working at various educational institutions across Florida, including schools in Palm Beach, St. Johns, Charlotte, and Sarasota counties. His past employment includes positions at SKY Academy in Englewood and Imagine Schools in North Port.

Charlotte County Public Schools released a statement addressing the arrest, noting that the alleged abuse did not take place in a school setting, while describing the accusations as “deeply troubling.”

Pavluchuk’s next appearance in court is scheduled for a case management conference on October 6, 2026, at 8:30 a.m.

Riverside man arrested, accused of nearly 2 decades of sexual abuse against foster children 

Police say there may be more alleged victims because Edward Sepulveda was a foster parent for at least 90 children over the years.

RIVERSIDE, Calif. (KABC) -- A Riverside foster parent has been charged with multiple felonies after allegedly sexually assaulting at least three girls and one boy who were under his care over a period of nearly 20 years.

Authorities identified the suspect as 68-year-old Edward Sepulveda. He's been charged with ten counts for various sexual assault crimes against the victims, some under the age of ten years old.

"It's an unfortunate situation because you have these foster kids that are really seeking help, guidance, support from who is potentially their foster parent," said Riverside Police Det. Steven Espinosa. "Unfortunately, Mr. Sepulveda took advantage of that."

Riverside police said many of the alleged crimes occurred in the suspect's home on Highlander Drive in a neighborhood near UC Riverside. Investigators said they made the arrest after one of the alleged victims, who is now an adult, bravely came forward.

"It takes some time for some of these victims to come forward and grab the strength to do so, and so we're glad that she did," said Espinosa.

Police said they are concerned there may be additional alleged victims because Sepulveda served as a foster parent for at least 90 foster children over the years. Police said the alleged crimes occurred from 1998 through at least 2013.

Espinosa said investigators remain focused on supporting victims and pursuing the case.

"In dealing with these cases, as detectives, as officers, we see things and hear things that nobody should. What we do it and why we do it is because we want to help these people out," Espinosa said. "At the end of the day, we signed up to do a job. That's what we intend to do in each and every case is truly just help these victims find a voice and find justice."

Detectives told Eyewitness News they are interviewing a potential fifth victim and believe there could be others who have not yet come forward.

"If you know anything regarding this investigation, or you've been victimized yourself by Mr. Sepulveda, we ask that you come forward. We are here to help," Espinosa said.

Sepulveda remains in custody with bail set at $1 million as the investigation continues. Police are asking anyone with information related to the case to contact the detective in charge of the case at (951) 353-7945.

Ex-LCPS teacher gets nearly 17 years for solicitation, possessing child sexual abuse images

Ex-Lovettsville Elementary School music teacher Antonio Geno Ford will serve up to 16 years and eight months behind bars for propositioning a police officer he thought was a 14-year-old boy and possessing child sexual abuse images.

On Aug. 21 in Loudoun Circuit Court, Chief Judge Douglas L. Fleming Jr. sentenced Ford, 29, to 32 years with 15 years and four months suspended. The sentence was for convictions of using a communications system for procuring or promoting the use of a minor, and seven counts of possession of child pornography.

Upon release, Ford will be on five years of supervised probation and must register as a sex offender for life. He can only use the internet for work purposes and cannot be around people under 18 without supervision.

Ford was hired by Loudoun County Public Schools in 2018 and his employment ended May 8 of this year, a day after he pleaded guilty, according to LCPS spokesman Dan Adams. He didn't say if Ford quit or was fired, per the LCPS personnel policy. 

The investigation began in January 2025, and involved a detective with the Orange County Sheriff's Office in central Florida posing as a 14-year-old boy on Snapchat, according to a proffer of facts written by Loudoun Senior Commonwealth's Attorney Amelia K. Flynn. She said the detective had a conversation with Ford, who identified himself as "pervteach."

In February 2025, Ford sent the detective an image of his penis and a tattoo was visible on the his right wrist, Flynn wrote. Ford was identified through a Gmail account and an IP address for the home where he was living.

Ford was arrested in August 2025 by Leesburg Police Department Detective Josh Carter. Carter photographed a tattoo on Ford's right wrist that Flynn said resembled the tattoo in images sent to the Florida detective.

More than 70 sexual abuse images and videos were found on electronics belonging to Ford in a search of the home he was living in. They were of boys between the ages of approximately 4 to 14-years-old.

Flynn sought a sentence above Virginia sentencing guideline recommendations. She said Ford "engaged in grievous behavior that put a number of children at risk" and was "clearly brazen" in using the "pervteach" online name. She said a psychosexual evaluation concluded Ford has a high risk of re-offending: a 25% chance within 10 years of his release. 

Defense attorney Christopher Jacob sought a sentence at the midpoint or low end of the guidelines, which called for a minimum of two years, five months; a midpoint of six years, one month; and a maximum of eight years, four months.

Jacob said Ford's crimes stemmed from "inappropriate relationships" Ford had with adults when he was young and that he had become fixated on internet relationships that led him astray. 

In a written statement, Ford apologized to the community, his family, and his former students. He said he has spent his year in jail taking rehabilitative programs, attending Bible study sessions, and trying to be a model inmate.

"My actions were reprehensible and should never have occurred," he said. "Everybody expected better of me and I let them down. If I could take my actions back, I would. In a heart beat."

Ford asked Fleming to "take a chance on me," but Fleming said he was troubled by the "disgusting" sexual abuse images Ford possessed, his use of the "pervteach" online name, and the evaluation's finding of a high risk of recidivism. While saying he believed Ford was sincerely trying to better himself, Fleming said he agreed with Flynn that Ford was dangerous to the community and needed to be severely punished.

"He is a teacher at an elementary school," Fleming said. "It makes me wonder what he would be up to if he had not inadvertently solicited a police officer."
