Approaching Sodom > Musk Family Tragedy may yet save the world; Reagan's Prophecy for America; BC Schools abandon Christian Camp

..

This is a heartbreaking, family tragedy, but it seems to have led to Musk buying out Twitter and changing the world. I wonder if Vivian knows that she has done that?

Elon Musk blames elite LA school for brainwashing ‘communist’

trans daughter into hating him for being rich

Elon Musk believes his “communist” transgender daughter severed ties with her billionaire father because she was brainwashed into “thinking that anyone rich is evil” at the ritzy California school he sent her to.

The CEO of X, formerly known as Twitter, washed his hands of any responsibility for the recent rift between himself and 19-year-old Vivian Jenna Wilson — instead blaming the Crossroads School for Arts & Sciences in Santa Monica for infecting her with the “woke mind virus.”

Wilson’s transition was part of a domino effect that led to Musk buying the social media app as part of his mission to stomp out wokeness, according to an excerpt of the upcoming biography “Elon Musk” that was published in the Wall Street Journal Thursday.

The SpaceX founder told author Walter Isaacson that he was initially “generally sanguine” with his child’s decision until in April 2022 when Wilson “became a fervent Marxist and broke off all relations with him,” the excerpt reveals.

That year, Wilson was granted a petition to change her gender, as well as her name, which she hoped would demolish any connection between herself and her biological father.

Vivian Jenna Wilson was granted a gender and name change last year, saying she didn’t want any connection to her billionaire father.

“She went beyond socialism to being a full communist and thinking that anyone rich is evil,”
said Musk, whose net worth is estimated at $257.5 billion.

Musk added that the rift pained him more than when he suffered the infant death of his firstborn child, Nevada.

“I’ve made many overtures, but she doesn’t want to spend time with me.”

The tech mogul said he “partly” blames Wilson’s dramatic changeup on Crossroads School for Arts & Sciences, which boasts various A-listers including Jack Black, Maya Rudolph and Zooey Deschanel among its alumni.

She looks like an angry, hurting girl. I suspect there is more to this story than just communism.

Tuition for the alleged “communist” K-12 school, ironically, costs up to $50,000 per student annually.

“Twitter, he felt, had become infected by a similar mindset that suppressed right-wing and anti-establishment voices,” Isaacson wrote.

The story of the familial split was peppered between tales of his April 2022 offer to buy Twitter for $44 billion — identifying himself as the “fire-breathing dragon” the platform needed to succeed.

Though the statements were not the first time Musk blamed higher learning institutions for the rift between himself and his daughter, it is the first time he pointed to a specific school.

Musk went on to buy the social media company six months later in what he called a bid to defend free speech.

Though the statements were not the first time Musk blamed higher learning institutions for the rift between himself and his daughter, it is the first time he pointed to a specific school.

In October, the Tesla CEO said “neo-Marxists” have taken over elite schools and liberal universities to teach their students to despise wealthy individuals.

A representative for Crossroads did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for comment.

B.C. school district cuts ties with summer camp over staff

agreement that prohibits 'homosexual behaviour'

Camp Qwanoes on Vancouver Island says religious freedom an important part

of Canadian society

Another school district on Vancouver Island has cut ties with a popular Christian summer camp after a teenager spoke out against the organization's staff agreement, which prohibits "homosexual behaviour" and calls it a "sexual sin."

Cowichan Valley is the third school district to announce it will stop sending students to Camp Qwanoes in Crofton, B.C., after 16-year-old Duncan resident Ryland Racicot spoke to local media outlet The Discourse about the staff agreement. The Nanaimo-Ladysmith and Sooke school districts announced the same earlier this year.

"This staff agreement goes against our values as a school district and is contrary to the Board of Education Policy 25: Identity, Belonging, and Connection, which calls for a community free of discrimination and marginalization," the district said in an email.

Thousands of children attend Camp Qwanoes every year, many of them Vancouver Islanders as part of their school's field trip. All public schools in B.C. are required to adhere to the province's Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity policy in schools, which aims to reduce discrimination and harm towards LGBT students.

Racicot told CBC News he attended Camp Qwanoes for five years and was thrilled to have been offered a position this spring as part of the camp's "step out" leadership program. But he was shocked and disappointed when he read through the staff agreement he was asked to sign before starting.

"It just felt horrible," Racicot said.

"I have my values and morals that I've been raised with and as soon as I read that contract I knew that was not the right thing."

The camp's staff standards, which CBC News has obtained, says staff are expected to "refrain from practices which are condemned by God in the Bible," including "sexual sins including premarital sex, adultery, homosexual behaviour, and viewing of pornography."

'God loves everyone'

Racicot said he declined the camp's job offer because of the staff agreement, even though working there had been a long-term goal of his.

He and his mother, Sylvia Webb, say they're practising Anglicans and condemning homosexuality is not part of their family values.

I think they need more practice.

"God loves everyone," Webb told CBC News.

And everyone has the opportunity to surrender their will to Jesus Christ and enter the Kingdom of God. But as Jesus frequently forgave sinners when He walked the earth, but almost always told the sinners to go and sin no more. That homosexuality is a sin in the eyes of God is without question. He, Himself, called it an abomination in both the Old Testament and the New. And, He, Himself, destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah for their abominable sins.

Encouraging people to continue in sin is just setting them up for a shock when they stand before Jesus Christ on that Great and Terrible Day.

"We've always been affiliated with the LGBTQ+ community and it was never a question of, you know, Christianity means that you couldn't be gay. It just isn't like that for us. It's not the world that we live in."

It's the world God created. You are delusional if you think otherwise. There will be no gays in Eternity! Ex-gays, yes. But practicing gays - not a chance in the world.

In an email, Camp Qwanoes executive director Scott Bailey told CBC News that this summer the camp welcomed more than 4,100 children and youth for summer camps and leadership programs.

The camp doesn't conceal its Christian background, Bailey said, but doesn't include any religious content or programs when public school groups attend.

"Requiring staff to indicate their support of and agreement with our Christian beliefs as a condition for employment is allowed for and protected in Canada," he said. "Religious freedom is an important part of Canadian society."

'Creating change'

Camp Qwanoes welcomes all campers "regardless of backgrounds or beliefs," Bailey said. During his 34 years on staff, Bailey said, there has never been any complaints or incidents relating to LGBTQ equality.

But Racicot and his mother disagree. They say they have heard from former campers who were asked not to return after they disclosed their sexuality, and others who said they felt unwelcome.

How did they 'disclose' their sexuality?

The mother and her teenage son said they're pleased to hear about the Cowichan Valley School District's decision, along with the other two school districts, especially given the schools' vocal support and policies advocating for LGBT rights.

"We're happy when we when we get news like that, we just feel like we're really creating change," Webb said.

Yeah. You have just eliminated hundreds of kids from getting valuable leadership training and have a ton of fun. Well done.

"I'm really glad that our community has done this and taken these steps to protect LGBTQ youth."

Hong Kong must legally recognize same-sex partnerships, top court rules

Ruling ends 5-year legal battle, stops short of full recognition of gay marriages

Hong Kong's top court ruled on Tuesday that the government should provide a framework for recognizing same-sex partnerships in a landmark decision for the city's LGBTQ+ community.

The ruling did not grant full marriage rights to same-sex couples but was a partial victory for prominent pro-democracy activist Jimmy Sham, who had fought a five-year legal battle over the recognition of same-sex marriage registered overseas.

Sham married his husband in New York in 2013, and argued that Hong Kong's laws, which don't recognize foreign same-sex marriage, violate the constitutional right to equality.

Equality advocates said the judgment was a step forward and will have strong implications for the lives of the LGBTQ+ community and the financial hub's reputation as an inclusive place to stay and work.

Judges at the top court, by a majority, declared in a written ruling that the government is in violation of its positive obligation to establish an alternative framework for legal recognition of same-sex partnerships, such as registered civil partnerships or civil unions.

"The absence of legal recognition of their relationship is apt to disrupt and demean their private lives together in ways that constitute arbitrary interference," Justice Patrick Keane wrote.

Government given 2 years to comply

The court suspended its declaration for two years to give the government time to comply with its obligation.

But the judges unanimously dismissed Sham's final appeal on other grounds related to same-sex marriage and recognition of overseas same-sex unions.

Currently, Hong Kong only recognizes same-sex marriage for certain purposes such as taxation, civil service benefits and dependent visas. Many of the government's concessions were won through legal challenges in recent years and the city has seen a growing social acceptance toward same-sex marriage.

Surveys showed 60 per cent of the respondents showed support for same-sex marriage in 2023, up from 38 per cent in 2013, according to a report issued by researchers at the University of Hong Kong, the Chinese University of Hong Kong and the University of North Carolina School of Law in May.

In a previous hearing, Sham's lawyer Karon Monaghan argued that the absence of same-sex marriage in Hong Kong sent a message that it's less worthy of recognition than heterosexual marriages.

Mainland China decriminalized homosexuality in 1997, and in 2001, removed it from its list of mental illnesses, but same-sex marriage is not recognized and no official legal protections exist.

Ruling welcomed as step forward (One step closer to Sodom)

Jerome Yau, a co-founder of non-governmental organization Hong Kong Marriage Equality, said the ruling sent a clear signal that same-sex relationships deserve some form of recognition and that it would help enhance Hong Kong's reputation.

"This judgment, we believe, will go a long way in attracting young talent coming to Hong Kong to work and live," he said.

Hong Kong resident Travis Chow, who has a same-sex partner, said he had wondered about their future but the judgment prompted him to think seriously about the option of staying in Hong Kong in the long run.

"This is absolutely happy and encouraging," he said.

The court decision was an important step for equality for the LGBTQ+ community in Asia, said gender studies scholar Suen Yiu-tong at the Chinese University. But Suen admitted he was disappointed that the court did not recognize same-sex marriage.

Sham has been in custody after being charged under a Beijing-imposed national security law following massive pro-democracy protests in 2019. The law has been used to arrest and silence many other pro-democracy activists as part of a crackdown on dissent in the former British colony.

Sham is the former convenor of Civil Human Rights Front, which was best known for organizing the annual protest march on the anniversary of Hong Kong's handover to Chinese rule on July 1, 1997, for years.

The group also organized some of the biggest political protests that roiled the city in 2019 but was disbanded in 2021 under the shadow of the security law.
