The idea is that if a man says “talaq,” that is, “you are divorced,” to his wife, then she is divorced. But he can tell her to come back after he says it once, and do this again after he says it a second time. But if he says it three times, then she has to marry another man, consummate the marriage, and be divorced by him before she can return to her first husband, should he wish her to return. This is all based on the Qur’an: “Divorce must be pronounced twice and then a woman must be retained in honor or released in kindness. And it is not lawful for you that you take back anything from women out of what you have given them, except when both parties are afraid that they may not be able to keep within the limits of Allah. And if you fear that they may not be able to keep the limits of Allah, in that case it is no sin for either of them if the woman ransoms herself. These are the limits of Allah. Do not transgress them. For whoever transgresses Allah’s limits is a wrongdoer. And if he has divorced her, then she is not lawful to him after that until she has married another husband. Then if he divorces her, it is no sin for both of them that they come together again, if they think that they are able to observe the limits of Allah. These are the limits of Allah. He shows them to people who have knowledge.” (Qur’an 2:229-230)

BHOPAL: A 32-year-old woman approached Koh-e-Fiza police and filed a complaint against her husband for allegedly pronouncing triple talaq and leaving her with her child at a hotel in Qatar….

The accused even siphoned Rs 4.5 lakh from her bank account, she alleges….

SHO Koh-e-Fiza Brijendra Marskole said that the complainant was married to Md Rehan, a resident of Koh-e-Fiza, in 2010….

Some time after the marriage, the woman found that her husband was having an affair with another woman, says the complaint. When she asked about it, he started harassing her. He took her to a hotel in Qatar on the pretext of returning to India where he pronounced triple talaq and left, she alleges….

Dalit woman raped, filmed, forced to eat beef by two Muslim men

A Dalit woman was raped and force-fed beef after being drugged by two Muslim men in Uttar Pradesh’s Bareilly district, police said. A Muslim woman, who was the survivor’s friend, was also involved in the crime. The woman had called the survivor to a hotel where the latter was gang-raped, police added.

The accused, identified as Shoaib, a B Pharma student and Nazim, who works as a barber, also filmed the act and blackmailed the survivor, demanding Rs 5 lakh.

They later sent the video to the survivor’s fiance and tried to flee to Kashmir where Nazim’s shop is located.

"Based on the victim's complaint, a case was registered under relevant sections of the SC/ST Act. It was also a case of extortion. All the accused have been arrested," a senior police official said.
