Bijou Phillips files for divorce from Danny Masterson after rape sentencing

Bijou Phillips has filed for divorce from her husband, Danny Masterson, after he was sentenced to 30 years to life in prison, Page Six can confirm.
According to California court documents obtained by Page Six, the “Raising Hope” actress filed for the dissolution of her marriage with the “That ’70s Show” alum on Monday.
She listed to date of separation as “TBD,” which means to be determined.
Phillips cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split. She is seeking spousal support and requested that any financial support for Masterson be denied, per the docs.
“The full nature and extent of [Phillips’] separate property assets and obligations is currently undetermined,” the filing notes, also stating that the full scope of community assets between the estranged couple is unclear.
The couple were married for nearly 12 years after tying the knot in October 2011. They share a 9-year-old daughter, Fianna Francis.
Of course, children's suffering is always a consequence of men's madness and evil.
Phillips is seeking legal and physical custody of their only child, per the court documents we obtained.
However, Phillips’s attorney told TMZ Tuesday, “Ms. Phillips has decided to file for divorce from her husband during this unfortunate time. Her priority remains with her daughter.”
The shocking filing comes after sources claimed that Phillips, 43, had no intention of divorcing Masterson, 47.
“She has had a very difficult time since the conviction,” an insider told People last week.

Canadian fashion mogul Peter Nygard has pleaded not guilty to all charges against him in his Toronto sexual-assault case, as jury selection for his trial gets underway.
The 82-year-old — who appeared in court Thursday in a wheelchair, wearing a black suit, with his long white hair tied in a bun — entered his not guilty pleas before sitting quietly beside his lawyers during the jury selection process.
Nygard is facing five counts of sexual assault and one count of forcible confinement, reduced from 11 total charges after a court heard last week that three of the eight original complainants in the case are not expected to testify.
He was previously facing eight counts of sexual assault and three forcible confinement charges.
The founder of a now-defunct international women's clothing company has been accused of using his position in the fashion industry to lure women and girls.
Justice Robert Goldstein has said he expects jury selection to be completed this week, with arguments set to begin on Tuesday.
Nygard — who in 1967 founded Nygard International in Winnipeg — has denied the allegations against him.
He stepped down as chairman of the clothing company in 2020 before it filed for bankruptcy.

Former Trump White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson has alleged in her forthcoming book that Rudy Giuliani groped her backstage at the 45th president’s “Stop the Steal” rally on Jan. 6, 2021.
Hutchinson, who was 24 at the time and whose tome “Enough” is due out next week, recalled the encounter with the former mayor and Trump attorney shortly before the then-president’s supporters ransacked the Capitol and delayed the certification of President-elect Joe Biden’s 2020 victory.
“‘By the way,’ he says, fingering the fabric, ‘I’m loving this leather jacket on you.’ His hand slips under my blazer, then my skirt,” Hutchinson writes of Giuliani, according to the Guardian.
“I feel his frozen fingers trail up my thigh,” she continues. “He tilts his chin up. The whites of his eyes look jaundiced. My eyes dart to [Trump adviser] John Eastman, who flashes a leering grin.”
Cassidy Hutchinson recalled being excited to work for the president despite her reservations about the Trump administration.
Hutchinson describes Giuliani as acting “like a wolf closing in on its prey,” according to the excerpt.
“I fight against the tension in my muscles and recoil from Rudy’s grip,” she goes on. “[F]illed with rage, I storm through the tent, on yet another quest for Mark.”
At the time of the alleged assault, Hutchinson was working as then-White House chief of staff Mark Meadows’ assistant.
She was catapulted into the national spotlight during her bombshell live testimony on June 28, 2022, before the House Jan. 6 select committee, during which she claimed to have heard that Trump had attempted to drive himself to the Capitol to join his supporters.
The former president has denied the claim and the Secret Service has not publicly corroborated Hutchinson’s account.
Initially, Hutchinson claimed that she didn’t remember much of the internal deliberations in the Trump White House revolving around challenging the 2020 election outcome. However, she later reversed her course and claimed her initial statements were made on the advice of a Trump-linked lawyer she had hired for financial reasons.
It is not immediately clear why Hutchinson did not divulge the Giuliani incident in her public testimony.
“It’s fair to ask Cassidy Hutchinson why she is just now coming out with these allegations from two and a half years ago, as part of the marketing campaign for her upcoming book release,” Giuliani political adviser Ted Goodman said in a statement. “This is a disgusting lie against Mayor Rudy Giuliani — a man whose distinguished career in public service includes taking down the Mafia, cleaning up New York City and comforting the nation following September 11th.”
Rudy Giuliani was one of the leading promulgators of the 2020 election fraud claims and helped then-President Trump craft a strategy to reverse his loss.

Giuliani, now 79, has contended with mounting legal woes since Trump departed the White House.
Earlier this month, he pleaded not guilty to 13 counts in connection with the former president’s attempt to overturn the 2020 result in Georgia. Days earlier, a judge sanctioned Giuliani in a civil case brought by two Georgia election workers whom he accused of rigging the 2020 Peach State vote.

He is also facing a $1.3 million lawsuit from his former attorney Robert Costello, who claims the former mayor hasn’t paid his bills — something Giuliani has disputed.
Additionally, Giuliani was hit in May with a $10 million suit from a former assistant who alleged sexual assault and failure to pay more than $2 million in wages.
There are also contentions that Guiliani drinks excessively, but I have no documentation for that.
