DAVENPORT, Iowa —A Scott County judge has dismissed two felony charges of child endangerment against a woman charged in connection with child sex abuse at a Davenport trailer park.
The Quad-City Times reports that the judge dismissed the case against 25-year-old Shaneka M. Posey on Wednesday after three psychologists determined that Posey was not fit to stand trial and that competency likely could not be restored.
Posey and several other women were arrested in 2014 as part of an investigation regarding the sexual abuse of multiple children at the Patriot Mobile Home Park. They were accused of allowing children to stay with two registered sex offenders at the trailer park.
Both sex offenders are serving multiple life sentences after pleading guilty to charges in state and federal court.
This was one of the worst cases of child sex abuse I published last year because the mothers, 5 or 6 of them, deliberately used known pedophiles as frequent baby-sitters for their little children. I'm surprised only one of them has been found to be of severely diminished capacity. I would have thought there was not a singe functioning brain between the lot of them.
