Utah man jailed on child sex abuse charges

A 65-year-old Cedar City, Utah man is in jail facing serious child sex abuse allegations.
Milford Haley is charged with 10 counts of aggravated sexual abuse of a child.
In February, an Iron County Sheriff's deputy interviewed a juvenile at the Children’s Justice Center spurning three of the alleged charges, according to the probable cause statement filed in the case.
“The Iron County Sheriff’s Office then received allegations from four other victims,” the arresting deputy wrote.
In total there are five alleged juvenile victims in the case with incident dates ranging from 2004 to 2016, according to court documents.
In records sent to Haley describing the allegations it states, “The presumptive sentence for this offense is 15-years to life. Imprisonment is mandatory.”
And that's for each count.
Cedar City attorney Jeffrey Slack has filed paperwork in court stating he will represent Haley.
A preliminary hearing on the matter has not been set as of Friday.
Haley is being held in the Iron County Jail in lieu of $70,000 bail.
Oregon school bus driver, 49, arrested for child sex abuse
A former bus driver in the North Santiam School District is behind bars
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A former bus driver for the North Santiam School District is in the Marion County jail, accused of sexually abusing a 12-year-old.
Even though district officials say the victim is not part of the district or a passenger on Charles Smelser’s bus, one parent is upset the district didn’t notify them.
“I was scared,” says April Crawford. “I was angry.”
Crawford’s daughter was a passenger on Smelser’s route. He was arrested in early March, but Crawford only learned of the arrest after her daughter heard a rumor.
“She googled the Marion County [jail] roster and found him there.”
Court documents indicate the abuse happened between September of 2015 and March 2016 while Smelser was staying with relatives in Silverton. He remains in jail on $1 million bail.
Meanwhile, Crawford continues to wait for a statement from the district superintendent.
“I called and I’ve been told they are in meetings,” she says. “We are supposed to all be working in a team, to protect our children and I really feel like they fell short in that area.”
Missouri man faces child sex-abuse charges

BENTON, Mo. -- A Chaffee, Missouri, man faces charges of sexual abuse toward a child.
Michael David Moore, 24, is charged with felony counts of first-degree statutory rape and first-degree statutory sodomy. And apparently, he thinks it's funny.
Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter said a sheriff's detective began investigating allegations reported to the Child Abuse and Neglect Hotline that Moore had sexually assaulted a 12-year-old child within the last 24 hours.
Through the investigation, the detective discovered Moore had allegedly had sexual intercourse with the child. Forensic evidence collected was consistent with the allegations, Walter said.
Moore was located and arrested in Miner, Missouri, after the detective received an anonymous tip of his whereabouts. Moore refused to speak with detectives about the case.

On Friday, a warrant was issued for Moore's arrest on the felony charges. Bond was set by the court at $75,000m cash only.
