Is being a caregiver an aggravating factor in sentencing? It ought to be a significant aggravating factor. The betrayal of the children and their family is a trauma that lasts a lifetime.
This unfortunate story lists only two arrests, not three, and fails to indicate the consequences of the first arrest - whether he spent time in jail or not.
Please, people, do not allow men to be caregivers of your children unless they are also his children. Men have no business caring for other people's kids, and all too often have alterior motives. This blog has dozens of such stories. Don't invite wolves into your henhouse.

Police have laid additional charges against a Toronto man previously arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting children and they believe there may be more victims.
Toronto police say Kevin Marsh was originally arrested in October 2017 after they claimed he sexually assaulted several children dating as far back as 2005 up to September 2017.Investigators say in two separate instances Marsh befriended a family, gained their trust and began acting as a caregiver to the children.
“He used his position of trust to sexually assault the children over a period of time,” police said in a release back in 2017.
Marsh was taken into custody and subsequently charged with almost two dozen sexual assault and assault-related offences.
In an update issued Saturday, police say Marsh was re-arrested on August 14, 2024, and charged with 14 additional offences including sexual assault, sexual interference, sexual exploitation and making and distributing child pornography.
Investigators did not provide details as to what led up to the latest charges but did say they are concerned there may be more victims.

An Ottawa woman who worked as a counsellor at a local summer camp has been accused of sexually assaulting a girl under the age of 12 last year, and police believe there could be other victims.
The Ottawa Police Service announced the charges against Ghadeer El-Haddad, 24, on Thursday.
She's facing a single charge each of sexual assault, sexual interference and assault.
According to the police, El-Haddad worked as an inclusion counsellor with children with special needs. The charges follow an investigation by the force's sexual assault and child abuse unit.
El-Haddad was scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
Police did not disclose the name of the camp in their release or when asked by CBC but said it is not owned or operated by the City of Ottawa.
Why would they keep that secret if they are looking for other victims? It wouldn't be because the camp was Muslim, would it? No, of course not! Unthinkable!
Anyone with information is asked to call the Ottawa Police Service Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Unit at 613-236-1222, extension 5944. Tips may also be sent electronically to SACA@ottawapolice.ca.
