Switzerland issues first ‘burqa ban’ fine
The Swiss authorities have issued the first fine under the country’s nationwide face-covering ban that took effect this year after a woman in Zurich wore a burqa in public, local outlet Blick reported on Sunday, citing police spokesperson Michael Walker.
The contentious measure, widely known as the “burqa ban,” is a federal law prohibiting face coverings in public spaces, including Muslim garments, such as burqas and niqabs, as well as masks and balaclavas worn by demonstrators or sports hooligans. Walker declined to reveal the woman’s age or details of her attire, citing privacy laws, but confirmed she was “not a tourist.” He said the woman refused to pay the fine, which totaled 100 Swiss francs ($110), meaning the case will now go to the cantonal governor’s office for further processing.
The ban stems from a 2021 Swiss referendum that narrowly passed with 51.2% support, following a campaign in favor of the measure led by the right-wing Swiss People’s Party. Though initially proposed as a measure targeting “radical Islam,” the law also aims to improve public safety, prohibiting masks at protests and sporting events. Violators face an immediate 100-franc fine, which can rise to 1,000 francs if contested in court.
The law includes exceptions for health, cold weather, carnival events, religious worship in designated areas, airline travel, and certain diplomatic or performance-related circumstances.
More than half of Swiss cantons had already enacted bans on face coverings at demonstrations before the federal law took effect. The new national law, however, supersedes cantonal legislation.
Critics argued that the law unfairly targets Switzerland’s 400,000-strong Muslim community, of which only a small minority wear face veils. The Swiss government initially opposed the measure as excessive, arguing that the ban could harm tourism. The law was also condemned by Muslim associations in the country.
Supporters, however, countered that the ban serves broader public security concerns. Last year, Zurich police issued 98 fines for masked participants at protests and sports riots, while Bern authorities also enforced similar cantonal bans against football hooligans.
Bans on the burqa, a full body covering with mesh around the eyes, and the niqab, a face veil which leaves a slit for the eyes, were first introduced in France back in 2011. Full or partial bans on face coverings have since also been enforced in Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Denmark, Italy, the Netherlands, Germany, Italy, and Spain.
So, does that mean that devout Muslim women can't go out in public anymore?
It is almost certainly because of all the sexual abuse committed by migrants on trains and in train stations that cause women to walk around with a knife in their purse or pocket. How much abuse is she supposed to take before using it?
Trial begins in Germany for US woman over fatal stabbing of man who allegedly groped her

An American woman is standing trial accused of fatally stabbing an Eritrean migrant after he allegedly groped her on an escalator.
German prosecutors allege the woman, 20, could have avoided killing the 64-year-old Alem Tekeste, after he allegedly grabbed her buttock as they came out of Kaiserslautern station, in south west Germany in June last year.
The woman, who was born in Germany but has US citizenship, faces up to ten years in prison if found guilty. The American told investigators that she only wanted to keep Mr Tekeste at a distance and acted in self defence.
Prosecutors allege that the man backed away from the knife, but was pursued. They say that when Mr Tekeste grabbed the 20-year-old’s knife-wielding arm, she freed herself and "stabbed once in the same motion," killing him “within seconds”.
Charges were brought for alleged bodily harm resulting in death. This means that prosecutors believe the woman intended to injure - but not kill.
Elon Musk had waded into the debate around the killing, asking on his X platform: “What is wrong with Germany?” in response to a tweet claiming the US citizen was “being held hostage for stabbing a migrant”.
A Kaiserslautern Regional Court statement ahead of the trial said: “The public prosecutor's office accuses the defendant of having stabbed a man as an adolescent in Kaiserslautern Central Station in June 2024, resulting in the man's death at the scene, something the defendant could have foreseen and avoided.
“The stabbing was preceded by an incident in which the victim allegedly grabbed the defendant's buttocks on an escalator.
“In its indictment, the public prosecutor's office does not believe this was a case of self-defense due to the timing of the incident, but also denies any intent to kill.”
They added: “The defendant turned herself in shortly after the crime. The court will have to clarify the exact sequence of events in a hearing of evidence.”
Under German law, the 20-year-old will appear in an “adolescent court” in Kaiserslautern this week and can remain unnamed as she was under 21 at the time of the killing.
The woman has told investigators that she didn't “intentionally aim” for his heart.

Not only did he anally rape a 13-year-old French boy — how long will it take that boy to recover from such an attack? — but before then, he had raped a homeless woman in the same village of Croisilles. That, too, I suppose, he would justify, in his weird moral calculus, as being an understandable act of revenge because his application for asylum had been turned down by the French government. What better way to get back at the entire country of France — how dare the French deny him his inalienable right as a Muslim to live in France, and to receive all the benefits the French state owes him, than to rape the most vulnerable of victims — a young boy, a homeless woman. Let’s not forget that as a Muslim, he is well aware that he belongs to the “best of peoples,” while his non-Muslim victims are “the most vile of create beings.”
The village became well known in the media for establishing a reception center for migrants.
Zalakahan S., the Afghan in the case, made the confession in Paris during a separate murder trial he is facing for an incident from 2022 in which he reportedly tried to stab a tourist in the neck.
His rap sheet gets longer. Now we know not only about his sodomizing a 13-year-old, and raping a homeless woman, but we find out he has been on trial for having attempted to murder a tourist in the neck three years ago (in the course of a robbery, or just for fun?). He apparently hasn’t invoked, as part of his defense, that his religious faith made him stab the tourist, because when he “struck at the neck” of an Infidel, he was only doing as Qur’an 47:4 instructs (”strike at their necks”) Muslims to do when they come across non-Muslims.
Zalakahan S. said he watched the boy play football, stole his cellphone, and then brutally sodomized the victim.
At the trial, Zalakahan S. admitted to raping the boy through an interpreter, as he does not speak French. He also said he “hates Europe.”…
Zalakahan S. “hates Europe.” On the other hand, he wants desperately to remain in France, and was so furious that his asylum request was turned down that he raped that 13-year-old boy, as he admitted, to take his revenge on France. Apparently his prior rape of a homeless woman was not revenge enough.
Notably, the mother of the raped boy is a volunteer who teaches migrants in the town of Croisilles.
How many times have those who have taken it upon themselves to help Muslim migrants adjust to life in Europe become the victims of those they tried to help? They have been robbed, raped, and sometimes murdered. In this case, the mother who taught immigrants in Croisilles, including Zalakahan S., was not harmed directly by him, but it was torment beyond measure for her 13-year-old son to be anally raped.
It’s not Zalakahan S.,’s only rape either. He also raped a homeless woman in the same town, which he also confessed to during the trial.
A judicial official in the town tried to downplay the rape at first, saying most rapes are “interfamilial.” However, three children in the village of 2,000 people have been sexually assaulted by refugees.
Are “interfamilial” rapes somehow less deserving of punishment? If a Muslim migrant father rapes his daughter, is that okay? In Croisilles, a village with only 2,000 inhabitants, at least three French children have been sexually assaulted by Muslim refugees; these were not “interfamilial” rapes. In a village so small, that is a very high number. And how many rapes were never reported, because the victims were too ashamed?
The mayor of Croisilles, Gérard Dué, is being accused of keeping the rape under wraps, according to the journalist Amaury Bucco, who broke the story. The mayor only admitted to a phone being stolen but did not mention the rape. He has not yet commented on the rape allegations.
However, he may have a strong motive for doing so, as he was at the center of a political battle to bring the migrant center to the village. He was congratulated by top officials, including Emmanuel Macron, for his pro-migrant efforts.
The mayor was on the side of the angels: the political left, that maligns those alarmed about the effects of Muslim migration as guilty of “Islamophobia” and “racism.” He was all for putting the immigrant center in his town; his support was critical for bringing that center to Croisilles, where, apparently, many townspeople were opposed. When the center was nonetheless accepted, Emmanuel Macron himself, who does not have to live cheek-by-jowl with Muslim migrant centers, congratulated the mayor for standing up for migrants and against the townspeople who foresaw a rise in crime. They, of course, were proven right.
No wonder the mayor wants to keep quiet about the Afghan rapist. He was the one who pushed for opening a migrant center in his tiny village of Croisilles. And look what that Islamic center brought to the people of his village. He ought to resign in shame, forthrightly admitting that he was wrong about having the center located in his town. But he won’t.
These crimes — the anal rape of the 13-year old, the rape of a homeless woman, the attempted murder of a non-Muslim, the stabbing in the neck of another non-Muslim — were not the only ones committed in Croisilles since the migrant center was opened in 2017. In 2020, another Afghan migrant was sentenced to six months in prison for sexually assaulting a boy, and in 2018, a Moroccan migrant assaulted a girl in a supermarket.
Mayor Gérard Dué, who inflicted this migrant center, and the Muslim criminals it housed, on the reluctant people of Croisilles, whose wellbeing he is supposed to protect, should first deliver a “mea maxima culpa” speech in the town square, listing all of the crimes committed against the townspeople by the Muslim migrants living in the migrant center that he had promoted, and second, he should offer his resignation. And let’s hope it will be accepted.
