Thousands of children raped in war-torn DR Congo, UNICEF says
Thousands of children have been subjected to rape and sexual violence in conflict-battered eastern Congo over the course of two months, the UN children's agency said Friday, warning that existing funding gaps meant that hundreds of thousands were deprived of protection.
Children make up between 35% to 45% of the nearly 10,000 cases of rape and sexual violence reported January and February this year, James Elder, the spokesperson for UNICEF told reporters in Geneva on Friday.
And, rest assured, the majority of cases are not reported even if the victims survive.
Inspecting child care facilities after 7 monks were abused
The Ministry of Health requires relevant units to inspect all child care and nurturing
facilities to ensure compliance with the Law on Children and related laws.
On the afternoon of April 12, the Department of Mothers and Children (Ministry of Health) sent an official dispatch to the People's Committees of provinces and centrally-run cities on strengthening child protection and prevention of child abuse.
According to the Department of Mothers and Children, in recent days, the press has reported on the case of Nguyen Dat Vu, born in 1987, Buddhist name Thich Van Chanh, residing in Ward 8, Da Lat City, Lam Dong Province, who repeatedly sexually abused 7 children at the Thap Thien facility, causing public outrage.

On April 6, Lam Dong Provincial Police initiated a case and prosecuted Nguyen Dat Vu (38 years old) for raping a person under 16 years old. Nguyen Dat Vu (residing in Da Lat City, Lam Dong) lives at a TT facility located in Ward 6, Da Lat City.
From 2023 to March 2025, Vu sexually abused 7 novice monks from 9 to 16 years old. These novice monks were sent by their families to practice. One of the novice monks abused by Nguyen Dat Vu and his relatives came forward to report the abuse at the end of March. The case is currently being investigated and clarified by the authorities.

Shoshana Strook, the daughter of far-right Israeli settlements minister Orit Strook who has accused both of her parents and one of her brothers of raping her as a child, has published a video alleging that they filmed her rape for use as child pornography and that criminals have threatened her with the publication of the video for accusing them.
Ms Strook travelled to Italy to disclose her allegations but has now returned to Israel, where she asks Israeli police to protect her from her parents and from the blackmailers:

Caplin is not the only such scandal among the pro-Israel Labour right. In 2023, Hackney Labour right-winger Thomas Dewey was sentenced to just 150 hours community service despite admitting possessing pictures of child rape including torture and bestiality. Keir Starmer’s Labour allowed Dewey to stand as a candidate in local elections even after his arrest, locked Hackney women members out of the party’s systems to prevent them discussing the issue and threatened members with disciplinary sanctions if they tried to ask questions.
UK media and politicians have continue to ignore the allegations.

Hackney mayor Philip Glanville, has been suspended over a photograph of him attending a Eurovision party with convicted paedophile and former Hackney councillor Thomas Dewey. The photograph was taken around two weeks after the party was made aware of Dewey’s arrest for possession of child rape images and a day or so after the police informed the Hackney council.
At the time, the Labour party allowed Dewey to stand as a council candidate, despite the arrest – and has since locked women members out of Labour’s communication systems and threatened them with disciplinary action if they discuss the Dewey case and Labour’s failings. However, it seems the party considers the photo grounds for suspension even though Dewey had not been convicted when it was taken.
The response is a stark contrast to the Starmer regime’s behaviour toward Peter Mandelson. Mandelson remained closely involved with paedophile Jeffrey Epstein after Epstein had pleaded guilty and been convicted of child sex trafficking.
A 2019 internal JP Morgan report, filed to a US court this year, described the ongoing relationship:

Yet Keir Starmer has insisted that Mandelson will remain a close adviser.
Starmer has also failed to protect victims of abuse and sexual harassment on a number of occasions, including covering up the ‘criminal’ and ‘sadistic’ abuse of vulnerable Muslim women fleeing domestic violence by a party staffer in a relationship with a (then-) front-bench MP, revealed by whistleblower Elaina Cohen.
Starmer has also welcomed confirmed racist and sex-pest MP Neil Coyle back into the party in time to ensure Coyle was able to be reconfirmed as the party’s candidate in Bermondsey and Old Southwark – and sheltered at least two alleged sex pests on his front bench for many months.
