40 More Arrests in Rotherham and Some of the Real Horror Story That Enabled Decades of Child Sex Abuse

Rotherham: 40 Arrested in Latest Child Sex Abuse Probe
OLI SCARFF/AFP/Getty Images

VIRGINIA HALE8, Breitbart

Police have arrested 40 suspects over the last two months in relation to a probe into allegations of serious child sex abuse in Rotherham, detectives have said.

The National Crime Agency (NCA) revealed the two women and 38 men from Sheffield, Rotherham, Leeds, Dewsbury and Maidstone were questioned over historic sexual abuse and exploitation of victims as young as 11, alleged to have taken place between 1997 and 2015.

All suspects arrested or interviewed since March in relation to the NCA probe have been released or bailed pending further enquiries, detectives said in a press release.

Spokesman Carl Vessey-Baitson said: “Arresting such a large number of individuals, as part of one Stovewood sub-operation, shows our desire to listen to victims and bring offenders to justice is not wavering.

“Stovewood is a challenging and complex investigation, with victims and survivors reliving abuse that took place many years ago.

“To date we have engaged with over 410 victims and survivors and have arrested or interviewed by appointment 94 suspects, meaning this is the largest law enforcement investigation into non-familial child sexual abuse and exploitation ever undertaken in the UK.

“Conducting such an investigation can only be achieved with the support and co-ordination of our partners, and South Yorkshire Police and Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council continue to provide invaluable assistance,” he added.

Operation Stovewood was launched in 2014 following the publication of the Jay Report — an independent inquiry which revealed authorities in South Yorkshire including the police, social services and Labour-controlled local council had turned a blind eye to the sexual exploitation, trafficking and rape of more than 1,400 mainly working-class white girls out of concern that taking action against their mostly-Pakistani abusers would harm so-called community relations.

Six trials relating to Stovewood investigations have been held so far, resulting in more than a dozen men jailed, while detectives at the NCA have identified 1,523 victims affected by the systematic grooming and abuse which took place in Rotherham between 1997 and 2013.

This shows how good and honest Alexis Jay's report was - to identify 1400 girls in a small city, and then to have police recently raise that number to 1523, just validates the report. But Jay's report was far from the first; there were several reports many years earlier that, had they been heeded, would have saved hundreds of girls from years of a nightmarish existence. But cowardly, politically correct attitudes doomed them to astonishing suffering.

A preliminary report in 2000 by Adele Weir on the child sex abuse at Rotherham linked 54 abused children to the Hussain family, as of October 2001. Eighteen children had named one of those men, Arshid Hussain (then around 25), as their "boyfriend", and several had become pregnant. One of the 18 girls—14 years old at the time—got pregnant twice. In 2014 she told Panorama that social workers had expressed concern about Hussain being around a baby because of his history of violence, but had not, according to the victim, expressed the same concern for her; she told Panorama that they maintained her relationship with him was consensual. (In February 2016 Arshid Hussain was convicted of multiple rapes and jailed for 35 years.)

Weir wrote in October 2001 to Mike Hedges, the Chief Constable of South Yorkshire Police, and to Christine Burbeary, the District Commander. The letter said:

I have been visiting agencies, encouraging them to relay information to the police. Their responses have been identical—they have ceased passing on information as they perceive this to be a waste of time. Parents also have ceased to make missing person reports, a precursor to any child abduction investigation, as the police response is often so inappropriate. ... Children are being left at risk and their abusers unapprehended.

The letter was not well received by the council or police.[96][97] During a meeting at Rotherham police station with senior police and council officials, they seemed incensed that Weir had written to the Chief Constable. Jayne Senior, who was present, said Weir was subjected to a "tirade that lasted I don't know how long". According to Weir, at some point after this an official warned her against mentioning Asian men:

She said you must never refer to that again. You must never refer to Asian men. And her other response was to book me on a two-day ethnicity and diversity course to raise my awareness of ethnic issues.

In 2002, Weir's files went missing from her office. Her computer was compromised, and minutes of fictitious staff meetings were installed on her computer - meetings in which she was present and agreed to things she would never agree to, even though in one of those meetings she was on vacation overseas.

This story goes on and on with police and council burying the ever-increasing evidence that 11, 12, 13 year old British girls were being groomed, beaten, gang-raped, threatened, drugged, impregnated and almost entirely by Pakistani men. And it had been going on for decades.

Sheffield City Council Turning 'Blind Eye' to Child Sex Abuse - NGO

Can political correctness really be more powerful than empathy toward the suffering and destruction of a generation of girls?

Sheffield City Council is "turning a blind eye" to child sexual exploitation despite the abuse scandal in nearby Rotherham, a survivors' charity says.

Kathryn Kelwick, of Rotherham-based Swinton Lock Centre, said: "We are getting more and more families from Sheffield coming to us for help."

The centre's manager is whistleblower Jayne Senior, who first revealed child sex abuse in Rotherham.

The council said: "We do everything we can to keep our young people safe." Jayne Ludlam, Executive Director of People for the city council, said: "We take any concerns raised to us very seriously and will always listen."

Ms Kelwick is post-abuse services manager at the Swinton Lock Centre, a charity that supports survivors and their families.

She said in her experience Sheffield's "authorities aren't listening. It is shocking to believe Sheffield is so close to Rotherham and this is happening to the extent it is. We are seeing authorities turning a blind eye."

The Jay report published in 2014 estimated 1,400 children were abused in Rotherham between 1997 and 2013.

This astonishing number from a city of only about 110,000, was not only confirmed recently by NCA (National Crime Agency) but increased to 1500.

Metropolitan Sheffield has a population of nearly 1.6 million

'Nothing happens'

BBC Radio Sheffield has spoken to a woman, who cannot be identified, who alleges that her daughters have been sexually exploited and abused whilst in the care of Sheffield City Council.

She said her children had been taken into care because the local authority deemed she could not cope. However, she claims her children have suffered more as a result.

"I've spoken to the council but nothing happens", she said. The woman blamed a lack of oversight in children's homes, saying: "They can come and go as they please."

She also feared her children were not the only ones to have been allegedly abused whilst in council care.

'Never ignored'

Sheffield City Council, responding to the woman's allegations, said: "We are in regular communication with mum in this case and have listened to her concerns. We have never ignored child sexual exploitation in Sheffield and do everything we can to prevent and tackle it."

"As soon as any child sexual exploitation concerns are identified we work with the police and other partners to provide support and care to protect young people from any further risks."

Det Ch Insp Joanne Bates, from South Yorkshire Police, said the force worked with a number of agencies to provide support.

She added: "We will always investigate all reports of sexual exploitation and we are absolutely committed to tackling this type of crime. I would encourage anyone whether you are suffering, or you have concerns about someone else, to please report it."

Couple found guilty of sexually assaulting young girl go free because case took too long

Justice Sandra Zinchuk found the couple's case took
45 months from start to finish
By Riley Laychuk, CBC News

A Manitoba judge has ruled that a couple's case taking nearly 46 months from the first court date to conviction was too long, and stayed their convictions. (Bert Savard/CBC)

A Manitoba couple convicted of sexually assaulting a young girl over a five-year period have had their convictions thrown out in a Portage la Prairie courtroom after a judge ruled their case was unreasonably delayed.

The two were charged with sexual assault and two counts of sexual interference each in July 2013. They were convicted in May 2017, nearly four years later, but their convictions were tossed after filing a motion with the court, saying it took too long.

"I find that the delay in this case was unreasonable," Justice Sandra Zinchuk said in her decision last week.

CBC News is not naming the couple to protect the identity of the victim, who was a minor at the time of the offences.

The ruling follows the Jordan decision, as it has come to be known — a July 8, 2016, ruling by the Supreme Court of Canada that set aside drug convictions in a British Columbia case due to unreasonable delay.

In a 5-4 ruling, the court said the old means of determining whether proceedings had taken too long were inadequate. Under the new framework, unreasonable delay was to be presumed if proceedings topped 18 months in provincial court or 30 months in superior court.

Not meant to send a message to victims

Scott Newman is a Winnipeg defence lawyer and spokesperson for the Criminal Defence Lawyers Association of Manitoba. He said that while he couldn't speak to this specific case, as a whole, it's important for the criminal justice system to function in a timely manner.

"It's never meant to send a message to anyone involved in a particular case," said Newman. "It's meant to send a future message, to say 'get your house in order.'"

"This will happen again unless you have the criminal justice system running efficiently and running appropriately and delivering timely justice for everyone."

Newman said timely justice is important because "people's memories fade, it gets harder to defend yourself from allegations particularly when you don't know about them until you're arrested later."

He also said moving cases through the courts in a reasonable time is good for society as a whole.

"It's important for everyone to know that justice is delivered in a timely fashion … not just for the accused persons, for victims of crime, for the public at large to know that the criminal justice system is functioning efficiently."

Case adjourned several times

Court heard the couple's case was adjourned several times to allow them to file for legal aid, before they eventually decided to represent themselves — a delay that Zinchuk deemed to be acceptable.

"There would generally be some acceptable delay in retaining acceptable counsel. An accused is entitled to take legitimate steps to respond to charges," said Zinchuk . "There is no evidence that either accused delayed or hindered their legal aid application."

That was followed by delays in setting pretrial dates after a motion by the Crown asked that defence counsel be appointed in order to cross-examine the complainant in the case. Zinchuk also said the 10-month span between the date both the defence and Crown were ready to set trial dates and the actual trial was longer than it should have been.

'This was not a complex case … There was one Crown witness and both accused testified.'
- Justice Sandra Zinchuk

The couple's case finally went to trial in May 2017. On the first day of the trial, the couple filed a motion to have the case thrown out due to the length of time it took.

Zinchuk ruled to proceed with the trial and the two were ultimately found guilty, nearly 46 months after they were charged. They were due to be sentenced Dec. 12, but Zinchuk instead ruled the length of time was longer than the acceptable length of 30 months set out in the Supreme Court of Canada's Jordan ruling.

And for some reason she didn't know that in May?

"The delays noted above are not the result of action or inaction of either accused," Zinchuk told court. "There was delay in the range of 14 months which was not caused by the defence.

"This was not a complex case," she said. "There was one Crown witness and both accused testified … there were no pretrial motions or charter issues."

Zinchuk also said the case also didn't involve a large number of charges, other significant requirements or expert evidence that may have also caused delays.

The justice compared the couple's case to another, in which the Supreme Court ruled was unreasonably delayed.

Kenneth Gavin Williamson waited nearly three years to be tried on charges related to sex offences against a minor decades ago. The Supreme Court agreed the Ontario man's delay was unreasonable and endorsed a lower court's stay of proceedings.

65 motions filed in Manitoba

According to Manitoba Justice, 65 delay motions on Criminal Code matters in Manitoba have been filed, as of last week.  Of these, nine remain outstanding.

Twenty-five have been dismissed by the court, 10 were stayed, 18 were resolved or withdrawn by counsel and three were successful, which led to the court staying the charge, a spokesperson said.

It is not clear if these most recent dismissals are reflected in these numbers.

So, in these cases of child sex abuse, how is the child protected from further abuse? While the Jordan decision is not meant to send a message to victims, it does. It tells them the rights of the criminal are more important than the rights of the victim in Canada. It's a sorry state when a criminal feels more protected by society than an innocent child.

CBC's decision against airing Transgender Kids doc should leave everyone unsettled

Political correctness takes precedence over science at CBC

By Debra W. Soh, for CBC News

To be clear, Zucker wasn't against transitioning for transgender people. He simply challenged the notion that every single child who says he or she is of the wrong gender is actually transgender.
(Jim Ross/New York Times)

Last week, CBC was scheduled to air the controversial BBC documentary Transgender Kids: Who Knows Best? but scrapped the plan the day of, citing audience feedback and its own "further review of the doc." Activists had argued that the film was "harmful" and poised to "feed transphobia."

In actuality, the documentary offers a rare and factual perspective on the politicization of gender therapy by featuring interviews with Dr. Kenneth Zucker, a psychologist and international research expert on gender dysphoria in children. (Zucker also happens to be a former colleague of mine.)

Although his research and approach to therapy are scientifically sound, they counter transgender orthodoxy in ways on which I will elaborate below.

Zucker's approach

But first, some background: in December of 2015, Zucker was fired from his position at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), where he had served as head of the Child, Youth, and Family Gender Identity Clinic. Many activists who had petitioned for his removal claimed victory.

The majority of gender dysphoric children desist by puberty

What was so controversial about Zucker's approach? In short, he did not blindly follow the current popular dogma of affirming young children who say they want to transition to the opposite sex. Instead, Zucker's therapy was informed by research that shows that the majority of gender dysphoric children desist by puberty.

Indeed, across all 11 studies conducted on this topic, including research published in the last five years, about 60 to 90 per cent of gender dysphoric children grow up to be gay in adulthood, not transgender.

Zucker's approach was not about "curing" transgender kids or conducting "reparative" or "conversion therapy," as some of his critics contend. Rather, it was about recognizing that it simply doesn't make sense for a child to undergo the challenges of a social or physical transition if they are likely to grow comfortable in the body they already have, on their own. That is the so-called "harmful" view the documentary explores.

To be clear, Zucker wasn't against transitioning for transgender people; he published academic studies supporting the use of hormonal blockers and cross-sex hormones for patients upon reaching puberty. He simply challenged the notion that every single child who says he or she is of the wrong gender is actually transgender.

The film also discusses the subject of detransitioning: a process whereby people who have transitioned end up regretting it and transition back to their birth sex. It also shed light on the theory that underlying conditions can be mistaken for gender dysphoria, including autism and borderline personality disorder.

Detransitioning sounds like a nightmare. I expect there are physical limits to it, but the psychological horror of realizing you have mutilated your body and mind, and it was all a big mistake must be extraordinary.

And how many of those people commit suicide rather than transitioning back? We know more than 40% of trans attempt suicide. The politically correct would like to blame bullying by straight people for those suicide attempts, but I think they are deflecting the blame from where it belongs - on those who encourage children to transition before puberty.

When Transgender Kids was released earlier this year, I sensed a feeling of relief among my colleagues in sexology that someone was finally willing to challenge the "gender affirmative" approach, especially in a way that was made for public consumption.

Nowadays, clinicians face extreme pressure to endorse the early transitioning model for their young patients, even when it may not be the best way forward for them. That's certainly the message that Zucker's firing sent, and it speaks all the more to why the film needed to be aired.

Controversy in the U.K.

This is not the first time Transgender Kids has encountered controversy. Upon first airing in the U.K., the film was widely protested and has since been removed from the BBC's website. That's not altogether surprising: in extreme cases, transgender activists have harassed and intimidated sex researchers who produce work that counters their political agenda. That's a big reason why you'll be hard-pressed to find many new studies countering the early transitioning approach.

Ontario's extreme liberal laws

More recently, this activism has influenced Canadian policy by way of Ontario's Bill 77 —  the Affirming Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Act of 2015 —which incorrectly conflates therapeutic approaches like Zucker's with unethical attempts to change a person's sexual orientation. And Bill 89 earlier this year, which writes gender ideology into child welfare laws and justifies intervention on the part of the government if a parent does not affirm a child's gender identity or expression.

Now the activism has made its way to Canada's publicly funded national broadcaster, which has opted against airing dissenting views on this issue. This should have individuals on both sides of the debate feeling unsettled.

Supporting transgender people, including their right to dignity, support and medical intervention, isn't at odds with taking a scientifically guided approach to determining the best outcomes for children. But as is commonly the case with political movements, these nuances only complicate the narrative and cede opportunities for activists to gain further ground.

Those complicit in the silencing of legitimate science have lost sight of the forest for the trees. The issue is no longer about what's in the best interest of these children, but about winning, at any cost, the ideological war.

I have seen CBC reporters mock people who don't take science as their god. And yet, here they have science bow down to the god of political correctness because some people started screaming. The consequence is that the erroneous and horrific practice of transitioning children before puberty will continue unabated and even undiscussed as the sexual abuse of children that it is.

This is another example where children have no voice, especially those children who are abused.

CBC is supporting this practice of child sexual abuse, and they ought to be ashamed of themselves; I certainly am ashamed of them.

Swedish police retract safety advice to women despite
3rd gang rape in 1 month

The New Normal - Sweden

© Jonathan NACKSTRAND / AFP

Police in the Swedish city of Malmo have retracted advice given to women in the city following the brutal gang-rape of a 17-year-old girl. The force advised women not to go out alone after dark following the vicious attack.

Officers issued the warning over the weekend following the assault, which occurred on Saturday, and marked the third such vicious rape committed by unknown perpetrators in the city in less than a month.

The original warning, reported by various Swedish media outlets, said that women should avoid venturing out after dark without someone for company. Considering it gets dark quite early in Sweden at this time of year, that would mean women should avoid being in the streets alone after approximately 3pm local time.

However, following criticism, Malmo police issued a formal statement on Monday retracting those remarks, describing them as “unfortunate and unclear.”

“My advice is to behave as usual and not act on fear,” said police spokesperson Mats Karlsson, as cited by SVT.

In other words, We're OK with you getting gang-raped as long as we are not criticized.

So far, police have not linked this most recent incident to the previous two but are also not ruling out a connection. In this latest case, there is no CCTV footage to analyze but police are attempting to recover footage from surrounding areas in a bid to catch the attackers.

Sexual abuse at observation home in India:
minister says action taken
PTI

Nagpur, Maharashtra Women and Child Welfare Minister Pankaja Munde today told the Legislative Council here that administrative officers have been charged under the POCSO Act in connection with an incident of sexual abuse of minors at an observation home in Pune.

MLC Jaidev Gaikwad, during the question hour, sought a status report on the case.

The minister informed that concerned officers were charged under the relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (for negligence), and disciplinary action has been initiated against them.

The minister also informed that action has also been taken against ten juveniles involved in the incident.

Leader of Opposition Dhananjay Munde asked what steps the government had taken so that such incidents do not happen again in observation homes and orphanages.

Pankaja Munde said children who have the background of `being in conflict with law (who are held for commission of offences) and other children should be kept seriously.

"Many children in observation homes have a background of being in conflict with law. Children from such background and those with normal background should not be kept under one roof," she said.

Her department will prepare a proposal in this regard, she said.

Security at these institutions would be tightened, the minister assured.

Northern Ireland MLA breaks silence on brother's child sexual assault conviction

SDLP assembly member Pat Catney. Picture by Mal McCann

AN SDLP MLA has spoken publicly for the first time about his adopted brother's recent conviction on sex charges.

Pat Catney (63) said his brother Jim's sexual assualt of a young girl as indefensible.

The Lagan Valley representative, who previously owned the Kitchen Bar in Belfast city centre, said he was shocked by his brother's actions and that his thoughts were with the victim.

In May this year, James Catney (67) received a three-year sentence, suspended for three years, after pleading guilty to three counts of gross indecency and three of indecent assault.

Wow! No jail time! Northern Ireland is obviously the place to be if you're a paedophile.

He was placed on the sex offenders register for life and made the subject of a sexual offences prevention order.

His younger brother, Pat, who was elected to the assembly in March, told the Belfast Telegraph, the episode was a "dark time" for everyone concerned, but added that his sibling has not been disowned by the family.

"I try to be protective of him but we have to think of the victim," said Mr Catney.

He said the family felt a "sense of shame" over the case.

"We didn't know anything about it. It came as a complete shock. Jim was out of our lives for a long time, maybe 30 years."

That's curious. Why was he out of your lives for 30 years, which would have begun not long before his offending? Was it because you knew he was a pervert even then?

The offences took place on dates between December 31 1990 and January 1 1994 when James Catney was aged between 41 and 44 and the victim aged between eight and 11.

The court heard that Catney had developed behavioural problems from the age of 16 when he discovered he had been adopted and started to abuse alcohol.

"I spoke to Jim about what he did and how wrong that was; he understood that," said Mr Catney.

Bountiful, B.C., pair in child-bride case
sentenced to jail time

Brandon and Gail Blackmore were found guilty in February
of taking 13-year-old to U.S. to marry
CBC News

A man and woman from the polygamist enclave of Bountiful, B.C., have been sentenced to several months of jail time for taking a 13-year-old girl to the U.S. to be married.

Brandon and Gail Blackmore, formerly husband and wife, were found guilty in B.C. Supreme Court in February of taking an underage girl across the border for a sexual purpose.

On Friday, Brandon Blackmore was sentenced to one year in jail, to be followed by 18 months' probation. Gail Blackmore received seven months behind bars.

The victim — who cannot be identified due to a publication ban — said she wanted to address the court after the sentencing. She was denied and the Blackmores were led away in handcuffs.

The charges stemmed from the girl's 2004 marriage to Warren Jeffs, the prophet of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, who is now serving a life sentence in Texas.

Jeffs testified that "God told him the [13-year-old] girl belonged to him," ordering the Blackmores to bring her to Utah to be married. At the time, Jeffs already had more than 80 wives.

At a sentencing hearing in June, Crown prosecutors asked for jail time of 12 to 18 months for Brandon Blackmore and six to 12 months for his ex-wife.

The judge said the sentences should act as a deterrent to "secretive" weddings within the polygamist community.

Failing health

Special prosecutor Peter Wilson acknowledged there is no case law setting a precedent for sentencing, but asked the judge to consider the vulnerability of the young victim.

"The sentence should not only denounce but deter them and other members of their community from engaging in similar practice," Wilson said in June.

Brandon Blackmore's defence lawyer had asked for a conditional sentence instead, arguing his 71-year-old client has health problems.

At the time of the crime, the Blackmores were both members of the fundamentalist Mormon church in the southeastern community of Bountiful, where it's common for men to marry multiple women.

A third defendant in the Blackmores' trial, James Oler, was found not guilty of transporting a 15-year-old girl to the U.S. to marry. The B.C. government is appealing that decision.

Child Advocacy Centre Launches  Forensic
Interviewing Facility in Nigeria

Representatives of the child protection community in Lagos State gathered recently to attend the launch of the Cece Yara Child Advocacy Centre’s state-of-the-art forensic Ssuite for children who have experienced sexual abuse.

A forensic interview is a structured conversation between a forensic interviewer and a child with the objective of obtaining detailed information or accounts of events that the child may have experienced or witnessed. The interview is usually carried out in a child friendly setting, at the beginning of a police or child protection investigation. It is especially valuable especially where there are no witnesses or physical evidence, and the outcome of the case depends on the victim’s verbal account of what happened. The child’s account is also digitally recorded.

In recent times, Nigeria has recorded an alarming rate of child sexual abuse more than ever in history. It is regrettable to know that only a minimal number of perpetrators are convicted or punished for this crime. Under-reporting, improper interviewing, the inability of our community and law enforcement agents to react appropriately to disclosures of child sexual abuse, as well as the limited ways to assess the credibility of testimonies of victims, may have also contributed to the increasing number of unprosecuted cases.

At the launch, Mrs. Bola Tinubu, the Founder Trustee of the Cece Yara Foundation, stated that the Forensic Interview Suite was in the forefront of technology and research-based investigation of child sexual abuse cases, and would be transformational in assisting the police to carry out more thorough investigations and the discovery of high quality evidence.

“It is a professional discipline that can make a fundamental difference to the way in which we approach the investigation of these crimes against young children. Now our children have a child friendly environment to disclose all the details of their abuse to a professional that understands them and who understands the challenges they have articulating the details of the abuse due to their age, the range of their vocabulary, and the effect of trauma”  Mrs. Tinubu.

The Cece Yara Foundation arranged for the successful training of 10 Forensic Interviewers, including staff of the Nigerian Police, and the Ministry of Youth and Social Development on providing skillful child-friendly forensic interviews.

The team was trained by Dr. Princess Olufemi-Kayode, who has worked for nearly 20 years with sexual and gender based violence victims. She started the first Rape Crisis Centre in Nigeria in 2005, and is the founder of Media Concern Initiative for Women and Children (MediaCon), a non-governmental Organisation committed to responding to issues of sexual violence against women and children.

Forensic Interview is designed to eliminate obstacles during investigation and in the event that the perpetrator denies the abuse. Though the practice is relatively unknown in Nigeria, The Cece Yara Foundation intends to collaborate with the Ministry of Youth and Social Development, Ministry of Justice and the Nigerian Police in driving the process of ensuring that child Forensic interview becomes best practice in Nigeria, similar to what obtains in other developed countries. The Cece Yara Foundation is confident that forensic interviewing will aid in successful prosecution, conviction of perpetrators and reduction in child trauma.

The Cece Yara Foundation is a child-centred non-profit organisation established in 2016 to prevent child sexual abuse and provide access to care, information, protection and emergency intervention to children who are sexually abused or at risk, and to their family. The Foundation provides the ideal response to children through a 24-hour free child telephone helpline (0800 800 8001) and its child-friendly Child Advocacy Centre based in Lagos, which provides professional counselling, medical, legal and psycho-social support, as well as referral services. The Foundation also conducts prevention programmes for children and adults to raise the awareness of sexual abuse, and to educate adults on how to protect children from sexual abuse.

The Cece Yara Foundation is located at 2A Akin – Ogunmade Davies Close, Gbagada Phase 2, Lagos. For more information kindly visit our website www.ceceyara.org.

Congratulations! Great work! God bless you!

A British tourist has been arrested after trying to lure a 13 year old Sydney girl for sex
AAP

A BRITISH tourist who arranged to meet a 13-year-old Sydney girl after sexually explicit conversations online has been charged with child exploitation offences.

Last week, officers attached to Strike Force Trawler began engaging online with a man visiting Australia from the United Kingdom.

The man believed he was communicating with a 13-year-old girl and following several sexually explicit conversations, he told “her” he was driving down the coast from Cairns and made arrangements to meet her when he arrived in Sydney.

A 34-year-old man was arrested by strike force officers at Westmead, in Sydney’s west, shortly after 11am on Friday.

They also searched a campervan and seized a number of items for forensic examination.

The man has been charged with the use of a carriage service to procure persons under 16.

He was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Bail Court on Saturday.

The strike force is run by the Sex Crimes Squad’s Child Exploitation internet Unit, which conducts ongoing investigations into the sexual abuse and exploitation of children online.

Squad Commander Detective Superintendent Linda Howlett says the arrest is a timely reminder for parents and carers to speak with young people about the dangers of talking to strangers online.

“While the online environment allows us to be better connected with people we know, it also provides opportunity for people we don’t know to connect with us — and this includes strangers talking to our children,” Det Supt Howlett said. “We know that sexual predators use social media and other online platforms to target children and it is imperative that children know what to do if they are exposed to explicit or inappropriate conversations.

“It is common for young people to feel uncomfortable reporting these types of conversations, so I urge parents to make sure they let their children know they don’t need to be embarrassed or upset — no one will judge you.

“Our priority is tracking down people who use the internet to groom and procure children for sex. We want to make sure we protect children from any type of harm.”

Strike Force Trawler is an ongoing investigation by the unit into the sexual abuse and exploitation of children through the internet and related telecommunications devices.

Nottingham Martial Arts instructor jailed for historical sexual abuse against boys
By WBWire -

A 46-year-old man, who raped and sexually abused two boys in the late 90s, has been jailed for 22 years.

Lee Martin, of Denewood Crescent in Bilborough, was sentenced today (Friday 11 August 2017) following a three week trial.

The court heard how in 1996, Martin groomed one boy and over a four year period, he sexually abused him.

In 1999, he then groomed another boy and over a four year period he sexually assaulted him and raped him on two occasions.

Martin was first arrested in July 2015 when the first victim came forward and was subsequently charged with a number of child sexual offences, including rape and indecent assault against three victims.

He pleaded not guilty to 21 counts of child sex offences at Nottingham Crown Court on Monday 24 July 2017 and a trial commenced. The jury convicted him of 14 counts of sexually touching a child without consent and two counts of rape relating to two of the victims. They were also hung on a third count of rape.

There were four counts of sexual touching relating to a third victim. The jury was unable to reach a decision on three of those counts and found Martin not guilty of the fourth.

Martin worked as a martial arts instructor in Bilborough at the time of the incidents.
As well as the prison sentence, he will have to sign the sex offenders register for life, received an automatic ban from working with children and was issued with an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

Detective Constable Laura Clarke said: “The victims have been carrying this burden for around 20 years and have shown great strength in coming forward and seeing the case through trial. It’s been a lengthy investigation of gathering evidence and piecing together information. We are pleased with the sentence and hope it encourages victims to continue to report these incidents to us no matter how long ago they happened. We will do everything we can to bring such offenders to justice and hope the victims can find some closure from the outcomes.”

Amber Rudd Says Political Correctness Must Not Stop UK Tackling Child Sex Abuse

And yet, she says it in a very politically correct way

Political correctness must not get in the way of tackling child sex abuse, Amber Rudd has said amid calls to review racially-motivated crimes.

The Home Secretary was speaking after the convictions of 17 men and one woman over the sexual abuse of under-age girls in Newcastle.

Rudd labelled the case “an abhorrent case of sexual predators preying on young women and girls”.

Much like the Rotherham and Oxford grooming scandals, victims were conned into thinking they were in a relationship with their abuser. They would then be passed round a group of abusers to be used for sex, sometimes with the encouragement of the class B drug M-Kat or cannabis.

Rudd described the exploitation of young girls as a “sickening crime”.

“Those responsible are not restricted to any single ethnic group, religion or community,” she said.

C'mon Amber! You condemn political correctness and then you practice it! You know damn well that 90% of the abusers are Pakistanis and 99% are Muslims. If you are not willing to admit that, then there is no hope of you actually addressing the problem. You can't fix it in general terms; you need to be specific. You need to go right into the Pakistani communities and let them know that this is wrong - they apparently don't know that!

“It is an affront to everyone in our society and I want to be absolutely clear that political and cultural sensitivities must never be allowed to get in the way of preventing and uncovering it.”

Northumbria Police launched a major investigation into the abuse of women in Newcastle after receiving information from social workers and initially spoke to 108 potential victims.

Over the course of four trials, 20 young women gave evidence covering a period from 2011 to 2014.

Those prosecuted were from the Bangladeshi, Pakistani, Indian, Iraqi, Iranian and Turkish communities and mainly British-born, with most living in the West End of Newcastle.

Concerns have been raised the ethnicity of the perpetrators may have meant the actions of the gangs were not uncovered sooner.

Former justice and defence minister Mike Penning, a Conservative MP, said he had written to the Attorney General to find out whether the incident should be treated as a “race-hate crime”.

Mohammaed Shafiq, who is head of the UK’s Ramadhan Foundation, told Sky News that many of the men involved in these kinds of cases view white girls as “worthless”.

“There is a minority of criminals involved in sexual abuse of children in on-street gang grooming who view white girls as worthless,” he said.

Why? Because that's what Mohammed said!

“They think they can be used in this abhorrent sort of way where they can be seen as trash.”

Why? Because Mohammed said they could!

While acknowledging that grooming goes on in every community, Shafiq said there is a “process of education” that must begin.

Sarah Champion, whose Rotherham constituency was rocked by similar crimes, said people were not raising potential cases of child abuse as they feared being labelled racist.

Meanwhile, Maggie Oliver, lead detective in the Rochdale case, said there was an “epidemic” of this kind of abuse because authorities had chosen to turn a blind eye to it due to the ethnicity of perpetrators and victims.

Labour MP for Newcastle Central Chi Onwurah said she was “ashamed” that her home city had harboured abusers.

She said: “I want to make it absolutely clear that there is no excuse, neither ignorance, culture, prejudice nor lack of education which can possibly justify or excuse the abuse of young women.”

The MP said authorities worked together to deal with the problem and did not ignore the offending when it came to light. Onwurah said those who sought to use the abusers’ Asian or Muslim backgrounds to create division were putting other girls at risk.

She said: “Assuming that grooming and child abuse is prevalent in one group helps potential abusers hide in plain sight if they are not part of that group.

“Crimes of sexual exploitation can be and are committed by members of all communities and indeed it remains regrettably true that sexual abuse is most likely to come from within the family circle.”

Good grief! Are you really going to ignore the issue of Pakistanis and Muslims and their attitude toward British girls? Do you not know where it comes from? Let me give you a hint:
Mohammed said it!
