Wolves Among the Sheep > Church of England Approaching Sodom; Baltimore Catholic Church shut down after CSA reports

Dozens of Church of England bishops want to allow

clergy same-sex civil marriages

By Anugrah Kumar, Christian Post Contributor

More than 40 Church of England bishops and senior church figures have expressed their desire to see an end to the denomination's ban on same-sex marriage among clergy.

Forty-four senior church figures, including 15 diocesan and 29 assistant or suffragan bishops, issued a statement this week calling for immediate guidance to allow LGBT clergy and ordinands to marry.

The bishops seek "a swift end to the current uncertainty" and advocate for the church to issue guidance that would remove restrictions on clergy from entering into same-sex civil marriages. They are also pushing for bishops to have the authority to ordain, license and grant permissions to officiate to clergy in same-sex marriages.

"We look forward to Guidance being issued without delay that includes the removal of all restrictions on clergy entering same-sex civil marriages, and on bishops ordaining and licensing such clergy, as well as granting permissions to officiate," the statement reads.

"We know that we will not all agree, but it is our longing that we will find a way that will recognize and honor our different perspectives and the gift we are to each other within the life of the Church of England, such that no one is expected to act against their conscience or theological conviction."

The Anglican weekly newspaper The Church Times reports that while guidance exists in draft form, its publication has been stalled as it requires "further work."

The House of Bishops announced a plan to officially commend prayers for same-sex couples. This announcement was met with mixed reactions, as some bishops expressed concerns that the proposals did not adequately "safeguard the pastoral stability, mission, and unity of the church."

Is no-one concerned about what Jesus thinks of same-sex couples in His church? Especially those in the pulpits?

At least 11 members of the House of Bishops publicly dissented from the ecclesiastical body's decision to agree in principle on commending Prayers of Love and Faith for same-sex couples in a statement.

The controversial prayers ask for God's blessing for same-sex couples.

In the latest letter, the signatories voiced both support and desire for more action. They celebrate the agreement to commend the Prayers of Love and Faith but also express regret over the delay in authorizing separate service structures and sample services, committing to work towards that authorization.

The bishops' statement follows a motion passed by the General Synod, expressing remorse for the Church of England's past failures in welcoming LGBT individuals and its commitment to ongoing learning and to refining and issuing the Prayers of Love and Faith.

They emphasized the importance of "inclusivity" within the denomination, stating, "We long for the day when LGBTQIA+ people will know themselves to be unquestionably included in the life and all ministries of our Church, and the contributions of each one of us fully accepted and celebrated as simply the offering of a fellow Christian."

While acknowledging the differences within the church, the bishops expressed a hope to honor these different perspectives and the collective gift they represent, ensuring that no one is compelled to act against their conscience or theological conviction.

The bishops met in London last month to discuss next steps and also agreed that structures for special services for same-sex couples based on prayers should go forward to be formally authorized under canon law.

The proposals are to be considered at the next synod later this month, as is new pastoral guidance on how the system will operate.

Once approved, the proposals will pave the way for a process leading to the authorization of the services under Canon B2.

Dioceses will be consulted on this process before it is put to General Synod, most likely in 2025, with the plans requiring a two-thirds majority to pass.

Did anybody ask God?

Baltimore parish to end services after priest removed following

sexual assault, fraud allegations

By Jon Brown, Christian Post Reporter

A Roman Catholic church in Baltimore is effectively shuttering later this month in the wake of sexual abuse and financial corruption allegations against its former priest.

The Archdiocese of Baltimore announced Saturday that a new priest will not be installed at St. Benedict Church, which the archdiocese described as a "difficult decision" it attributed to "the limited number of clergy available for this ministry."

Last month, the Archdiocese of Baltimore and the Benedictine order suspended Father Paschal Morlino, 85, from his priestly duties after he had served St. Benedict Church for nearly 40 years, according to The Baltimore Banner.

The move came after he told the local outlet in October that he secretly paid $200,000 to silence an accusation of male sexual assault. The archdiocese and the Benedictine order reportedly had no knowledge of the settlement until receiving a request for comment from The Baltimore Banner.

“I just wanted to keep him quiet, to be rid of him, because he was just stirring up trouble,” Morlino said of his accuser, according to the outlet. “My conscience is clear; it’s all stuff that he made up.”

Following the report, the archdiocese and the Benedictine order began an investigation and decided within 24 hours to suspend Morlino, the outlet reported.

Another third-party complaint against Morlino in 2018 involved "alleged sexual harassment of an adult man," though the man has since died and his lawyer has declined to comment because of a non-disclosure agreement, according to The Associated Press.

Archdiocese officials also said Saturday that they are investigating a separate complaint lodged against Morlino involving sexual abuse of a minor in 1993, which the priest has denied.

Morlino has since returned to the Saint Vincent Archabbey in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, which is the oldest Benedictine monastery in the country and owns the St. Benedict Church property in Baltimore.

“Regrettably, the decision also means that Mass, the sacraments, sacramental preparation, and worship services will no longer continue at St. Benedict Church, effective on Nov. 15, 2023,” the archdiocese said of its decision not to replace Morlino.

“We understand that this news comes at a difficult time for the parishioners,” the archdiocese continued. “An outreach team will be available to assist parishioners and if they wish, help them receive Catholic pastoral services at nearby parishes.”

The announcement apparently came as a shock when it was first made to parishioners during two Saturday vigil Masses, according to The Baltimore Banner, which noted that "multiple parishioners shook their heads as they listened." Others sat in silence, according to the outlet.

Deacon Jacob Martini urged parishioners during the vigil Mass on Saturday to remember that "whatever we might feel, we cannot let it shake our discipleship in Jesus Christ," according to Catholic Review.

"The Word of God is founded ultimately on Jesus Christ, the deepest desire of our hearts," he added.

Most in attendance were unwilling to speak to Catholic Review on the record, but reportedly "expressed heartbreak, anger, and sadness," according to the outlet.

How can such a man pastor a church for 40 years?

Islam - Current Day > Immigrant Youths make up 10% of Italian Youths but 50% of Crimes; Muslim Youths take over Italian town, Sexually Assault 6 girls on Train to Milan

 ..

Italy: Young migrants commit nearly 50% of crimes in their age group

JUL 18, 2022 3:00 PM
BY ROBERT SPENCER

Migrants to Italy in 2021 were mostly from Tunisia, Egypt, Bangladesh, and Iran. What do those countries have in common? Might this have something to do with admitting large numbers of people who believe that they are the “best of people” (Qur’an 3:110), while the unbelievers are “the most vile of created beings” (Qur’an 98:6), and thus when they come to the land of the vile beings, they have no obligation to respect them or their laws?

“Italy: Young immigrants commit nearly 1 out of every 2 crimes in their age group,”

by John Cody, ReMix News,
July 13, 2022

Young foreigners commit nearly half of the serious crimes in Italy in the 14-24 age group, according to data from the Italian government’s National Institute for Statistics (ISTAT).

The numbers are truly shocking since for this age group, foreigners make up 9.6 percent of the population. Nevertheless, young immigrants commit 50.2 percent of thefts, 48.1 percent of robberies, 47.7 percent of sexual violence, and 40.4 percent of assaults.

In the 18-24 age group, foreigners make up 11.2 percent of the country’s population, yet commit a whopping 89.7 percent of crimes involving exploitation of prostitution, 55.8 percent of cases involving sexual violence, 52.8 percent of robberies, 52.4 percent of thefts, and 43.6 percent of malicious injury cases, writes Giuseppe Valditara for Italy’s Libero newspaper. The data does not include crimes committed by second-generation Italians. In other words, Italians born to immigrant parents are not listed as “foreigners” and are instead seen as Italian citizens.

In other words, the statistics are far worse than those reported here!

The data helps dispel the notion that immigrants have higher crime rates simply because they are mostly made up of young males. The data here simply compares crime rates between foreigners and natives who are from the same age groups, and it shows that foreigners account for a massively disproportionate share of the overall crime rate.

ISTAT also shows that the share of crime committed by foreigners has steadily increased in the last few decades. In 1990, foreigners represented 2.5 percent of those accused of crimes while in 2009, foreigners represented 24 percent of those accused of a crime. This troubling statistic has only grown worse over the years.

Muslim youth take over town, gang rape 6 girls

The data is especially troubling in light of recent cases, such as when 2,000 migrant teens descended on lakeside towns near Lake Garda last month and proceeded to riot, assault police, and rob people of their belongings. More ominously, six teenage girls were sexually assaulted on a train on their way home from the area by approximately 30 migrant youths, with the incident sparking outrage in Italy and an investigation in parliament….

Italy: 30 North African migrants sexually assault 6 teen girls

on train to Milan

The news has shocked Italy, with major politicians weighing in on the reported

mass sexual assault involving North Africans

June 06, 2022

Five of the six teenage sexual assault victims, pictured, spoke of their nightmare ordeal.

A day that was supposed to be fun and exciting turned into a nightmare for six Italian girls returning by train to Milan from their trip to Gardaland amusement park. The young women, four from Milan and two from Pavia, all aged 16 to 17 years old, were sexually assaulted by a large group of North African migrant males while traveling on board the 2640 regional train from Peschiera del Garda to Milan, according to Italian news reports.

‘White women don’t come up here’

“We were surrounded. The heat was suffocating, and some of us passed out. While we were looking for a controller, the sexual harassment took place,” said one of the victims.

They then recalled that their attackers, while laughing, had told them: “White women don’t come up here.”

The incident took place in the late afternoon of last Thursday, June 2. The girls claimed that just before 6 p.m. they were in the train station of Peschiera. Over a hundred boys and a few girls, mostly North Africans of similar age or a little older, invaded the platform and the tracks, according to Italian news outlet il Giornale.

“They screamed and ran. They also spat on the windows of a train that arrived before ours,” said one of the victims.

According to the mayor of Castelnuovo del Garda, Giovanni Dal Cero, those young people were probably part of the crowd that had poured onto the beach of Peschiera earlier in the day. After a party was organized on TikTok, nearly 2,000 young people descended on Lake Garda, which resulted in a number of brawls and stabbings. Riot police were deployed to control the crowds, and by the evening, there were hundreds of intoxicated teens boarding trains in the area, both Italians and a number of migrant groups.

When the mass sexual assault took place, the train to Milan was full of passengers. The girls say that the group of about 30 men were groping them in turns and hurling sexual insults at them. The six victims of sexual harassment did not alert the police right away for fear of being beaten by the perpetrators, but they decided to call their parents who arranged to call the police. The mothers and fathers, however, reported that no one intervened to stop the sexual assault until one boy came to the rescue of the victims and helped them get off at the next stop.

On the Instagram page Milanobelladadio, one of the mothers of the victims wrote a message: “They managed to go down to Desenzano del Garda, in shock, in tears, and we parents went to retrieve them. Now, I wonder, is it possible that things like this still happen?!”

Another parent commented, “We called 112 [Italy’s emergency number] but no one intervened. The young women were helped by a boy who made them get off at the next stop.”

Not the only case

The news also comes after a harrowing sexual assault that was caught on video earlier this year during a New Year’s celebration in Milan, with migrant men filmed sexual assaulting numerous females. According to police statistics, foreigners are responsible for nearly half the rape cases in Italy but only account for a small portion of the country’s population.

League Party leader Matteo Salvini produced multiple posts about the latest incident, writing sarcastically in one post: “A shame, a disgust. I expect an effective intervention from [Interior] Minister Lamorgese and harsh condemnation from the left and feminists. Do you think I’ll wait a long time?”

Maria Teresa Bellucci, a deputy of the Brothers of Italy party and the head of the social affairs commission, wrote that “the events of Desenzano are group violence, along the lines of those that occurred in Milan on New Year’s Eve. The gang phenomenon must be contained, Italy cannot experience situations similar to those of the suburbs. The government needs to tell us if there is an anti-gang strategy.”

Luca Zaia, governor of the Veneto Region, commented on what happened: “We continue our daily battle for not only individual but also social freedom. It is inconceivable that women and girls would be harassed and threatened in this way in this country. I appeal for zero tolerance and that the police put their utmost effort into finding those responsible.”

The governor then underlined that the Venetian population is used to a society based on respect for people and rules.

“We cannot allow for events like these to become ordinary or, even worse, that we get used to them. I repeat, zero tolerance.”

Wave of Horrific Rapes, Gang-Rapes, and Murders in India on Today's Global Pervs n Pedos List

Police have arrested four suspects in the wake a brutal rape and murder of a veterinarian in the Hyderabad area of India. Those detained include a prime suspect in the harrowing crime that has shocked the nation.

The four men were brought into custody on Friday, just one day after the badly burnt body of 27-year-old vet Priyanka Reddy was found, local media reported. The police were able to flag the suspects after browsing through CCTV footage from the crime scene.

Among those arrested is the prime suspect, identified as Mohammed Pasha, a local truck driver. Pasha, along with the other three men, is accused of kidnapping, gang-raping and slaughtering the woman near Tondupally toll plaza on the outskirts of Hyderabad.

The prelude to the tragedy began on Wednesday, when Priyanka Reddy’s motorbike developed a flat tire as she made her way to an animal hospital. She tried to leave but a group of men blocked her way out and then offered to repair the flat tire. Police now believe the suspects intentionally caused the puncture in order to make their attack easier.

During her final phone call to her sister Bhavya, the woman said she was frightened at being stranded in an unfamiliar area, surrounded by several men and trucks parked nearby. Bhavya suggested that she abandon the bike and walk to the nearest toll gate, but that didn’t happen.

Priyanka was forcibly taken to a secluded location near the plaza where the heinous crime took place. Investigators are now trying to find out whether she was bludgeoned to death or strangled.

Her badly burned corpse was discovered on Thursday morning by locals. Police later recovered the victim’s clothes, footwear, and a liquor bottle outside the toll plaza.

The harrowing news has resonated throughout Indian society, reviving bitter memories of the 2012 crime in which 23-year-old female physiotherapy student Jyoti Singh was beaten, gang-raped, and tortured in a private bus in South Delhi.

As the investigation continues, Priyanka’s family is demanding justice. “Whoever has done this needs to be hanged to death,” her father said. The victim’s mother wants a harsher punishment, saying the culprits should be “burnt alive in public.”

UPDATE:

The four men accused of raping and murdering a 27-year-old woman on the outskirts of Hyderabad have confessed to the gruesome crime. Meanwhile, mass protests swept across the state, resulting in heated standoffs with police.

Tens of thousands of people poured onto the streets of Hyderabad, and elsewhere across the state of Telangana, as the accused appeared before a district magistrate on Saturday. Police had to call in reinforcements to prevent lynching, escorting the suspects through the angry masses in one piece.

As the crowd grew increasingly violent, throwing slippers at the officers and refusing to let them pass, police were forced use batons to disperse the mob.

The accused – two lorry drivers and their accomplices, identified as Mohammed Areef (26), Jollu Shiva (20), Jollu Naveen (20) and Chintakunta Chennakeshavulu (20) – confessed to the crime and were sent to 14-day pre-trial custody.

The gang deliberately punctured one of the wheels of Priyanka Reddy’s bike to stall her and offer “help” with repairs, police commissioner VC Sajjanar told a press conference. She was then dragged away from the toll road, raped and strangled. Her body was taken some 25km away and burnt under a bridge.

State-wide protests took place in Andhra Pradesh today condemning the heinous crime meted out to the veterinary doctor in Hyderabad & to demand #JusticeForPriyankaReddy and her family. ABVP will not stop until justice is served to the victim and perpetrators are brought to book.

The harrowing crime resonated throughout Indian society, with crowds of protesters virtually besieging the police station since Friday, demanding that the accused be publicly hanged or burned to death. Authorities have promised to fast-track the proceedings.

Suicide or serial crime? Second woman found Burnt Alive in Indian town where harrowing rape & murder of Priyanka Reddy occurred

FILE PHOTO © REUTERS/Ajay Verma

The burnt body of an Indian woman has been found on the outskirts of Hyderabad, not far from the place where veterinarian Priyanka Reddy was kidnapped, brutally raped and murdered by a gang of locals earlier this week.

As India recovers from the shock caused by the blood-chilling murder of the 27-year-old vet in Shamshabad, more grueling news has come from the very same town.

On Saturday morning, locals walking past the Ayyappa temple in a Hyderabad suburb spotted flames in the vicinity and approached them. To their horror, it turned out to be a woman’s body on fire. Their attempts to save her life were unsuccessful as the blaze was too intense.

Ambulances and police, now busy inquiring into the Reddy rape and murder case, swiftly responded to the call, but the woman succumbed to her injuries before they arrived.

Officials said that a matchbox and a half-burnt plastic canister were recovered at the site which smelled of kerosene, local media reported. They believe this was a suicide by self-immolation – but the woman’s body will be scrutinized for possible signs of murder or sexual abuse.

Raising suspicion is the fact that the Ayyappa temple lies roughly five miles from the location in Shamshabad where Reddy’s charred body was found on Thursday after a frantic search by her family and local police.

Hyderabad police have arrested four men, among them a prime suspect – a truck driver called Mohammed Pasha. The four are accused of forcibly taking the woman to a desolate place, raping her and then burning her corpse to such a degree that her family could only identify her remains by a locket she wore around her neck.

Reddy’s death sent shockwaves through Indian society, stirring up a social media campaign demanding harsh penalties for the accused. The victim’s relatives demanded the culprits be burnt or hanged to death, with many netizens supporting such punishment.

Five more horrific stories of rape, gang-rape
and murder from India
The Logical Indian

Woman Gang-raped In Tamil Nadu’s Neyveli

A 32-year-old widow, from Neyveli in Cuddalore, Tamil Nadu, was gangraped by five men on her way home from grocery shopping, on Thursday. One of the five accused was killed by the other rapists, after he got into a fight with them over his turn to rape the victim.

The incident occurred when the victim was returning home along with her relative on a two-wheeler. When her relative stopped the bike midway on a deserted road to uncivilly urinate on the road, the group of five rapists spotted her. Her relative tried to stop them as they approached her, but he was beaten and chased away.

They then took her to an isolated spot and brutally gangraped her. Amidst the criminal act, one of the gang members was killed in a fight over his turn to rape her, so the rest of the group killed him and abandoned the victim with their dead accomplice at the site. When the victim gained consciousness, she went to a nearby police station and registered a complaint after which she was rushed for medical examination.

Based on the complaint, the police identified the accused and all of the five men are daily wage labourers. They have now been taken into judicial custody.

Twenty-year-old Raped And Murdered in Kancheepuram

A body of a 20-year-old was found in the bushes in Kancheepuram in Tamil Nadu by shepherds who saw her carcass on the evening of 26th November. They alerted the village administration and the police came to recover her body – but it was completely decomposed by the time any action was taken.

The doctors from a government hospital in Kancheepuram conducted a post-mortem examination on the spot and to fill the blanks, the police began to look into a ‘missing report’ that was filed for a woman a few days earlier. The name in the missing complaint and the body recovered was found to belong to the same woman, named Roja, from Siruvallur.

Amazing, the body decomposed in a few days????!!!

One of the investigating officers told Times Of India that Roja had become ‘friendly’ with a married man at her workplace in Sriperumbudur. Her body bore injuries around the neck which were caused due to hanging from a tree, the officer had informed.

Auto Driver Holds 11-Year-Old Captive,
Rapes Her For Three Days In Chandigarh

An auto-rickshaw driver was arrested for kidnapping and raping an 11-year-old girl who was abandoned by her aunt at Chandigarh Railway Station, Punjab Police said on 29th November. Urmila Devi, Sub-Inspector of the Government Railway Police (GRP), told ANI, “A girl was allegedly abandoned by her aunt on Chandigarh Railway Station. Later, she sat in an auto-rickshaw and on her way, she might have told the driver that she was alone.”

“Taking advantage of the minor’s situation, the driver took the girl to his rented place, held her captive for days and raped her,” police added. Officer Devi further said that police handed over the girl and the accused to GRP on November 27. “A case has been registered under POSCO Act and we have presented the accused before a court and he is in two-day remand,” she added. Further investigation in the case is underway.

Law Student In Ranchi Raped By Twelve Men At Gunpoint

A 25-year-old law student was abducted and gang raped by 12 men at gunpoint at a brick kiln near Ranchi’s high-security zone this week. According to a report, all 12 accused have confessed to the crime. As per the FIR lodged by the victim at Kanke police station, the incident happened at around 5.30 pm on November 26 when she was with a friend in the city outskirts.

Two motorcycle-borne men accosted them and abducted the victim at gunpoint after overpowering her friend, the police said. The spot is barely 4km from her law college campus and 10 km from the chief minister’s official residence. The locality also houses the residences of the DGP, chief justice of the Jharkhand high court and the leader of the opposition.

The motorbike reportedly ran out of fuel at some distance when the two men called up their friends and asked them to come with a car. They then drove to the brick kiln and took turns to rape the woman. The victim managed to reach the police station the next morning and lodged an FIR, following which police arrested the 12 accused after conducting raids.

14-y/o Girl Dragged Behind Bushes, Gang Raped In Vadodara

Less than a day after the horrific gang-rape and brutal murder of a veterinary doctor came to light from Telangana, another sexual crime, this time, in Gujarat has surfaced, where a minor girl was raped by two men at the Navlakhi Ground on Thursday.

The 14-year-old girl was learning how to drive at the Navlakhi Ground located along Palace Road in Moti Bagh area when the incident took place. At the time, she was accompanied by a friend who was helping her out.

In his statement to the police, the friend claimed that two men approached them and started threatening them without any provocation. They chased the friend away and forcefully dragged the minor girl towards the other end of the ground where they took turns to rape her.

Escaping from the location, the girl’s friend reached the nearest police station and alerted them about the gruesome incident. A team of personnel rushed to the spot and launched a search operation that lasted for about an hour-and-a-half. They found her lying behind a thick set of bushes, covered in blood.

The child was taken to the Shree Sir Sayaji General Hospital in Vadodara where she is currently undergoing treatment. Bruises on her body indicate that the accused thrashed the girl mercilessly after sexually assaulting her. Meanwhile, a medico-legal test has confirmed that the child was raped.

A case of gang-rape has been registered against the two unknown assailants and teams of local police personnel have been formed to identify and nab them.

Once arrested, they will be charged with relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

We're Losing the War on Child Sexual Abuse Images - NYT Article

But, I think it is winnable!

An Explosion in Online Child Sex Abuse: What You Need to Know

By Gabriel J.X. Dance and Michael H. Keller

Tech companies are reporting a boom in online photos and videos of children being sexually abused — a record 45 million illegal images were flagged last year alone — exposing a system at a breaking point and unable to keep up with the perpetrators, an investigation by The New York Times found.

The spiraling activity can be attributed in part to a neglectful federal government, overwhelmed law enforcement agencies and struggling tech companies. And while global in scope, the problem is firmly rooted in the United States because of the role Silicon Valley plays in both the spread and detection of the material. Here are six key takeaways.

It can also be attributed to myriad distractions like politics, wars, climate change, etc., etc. Child sex abuse is the worst problem in the world by far, and it is arguably the least addressed problem.

Reports of abuse images are escalating

While the problem predates the internet, smartphone cameras, social media and cloud storage have made it much worse.

Not to mention the Dark Web and encryption which the major platforms want to begin using. This will result in a violent jump in the amount of child porn available which means a violent jump in the number of children being sexually assaulted in order to make them.

Before the digital age, offenders had to rely on having photographs developed and sending them through the postal system, but new technologies have lowered the barriers to creating, sharing and amassing the material, pushing it to unprecedented levels.

After years of uneven monitoring, major tech companies have stepped up surveillance of their platforms and have found them to be riddled with the content.

And every new platform that emerges is mastered first by pedophiles who are there just waiting for your child to find them.

Offenders are sharing images of younger victims and more heinous crimes

Criminals are increasingly “going dark” to hide their tracks. They are using virtual private networks to mask their locations; deploying encryption techniques to obscure their messages and make their hard drives impenetrable; and posting on the so-called dark web, the vast underbelly of the internet, which is inaccessible to conventional browsers.

As the technologies lower people’s inhibitions, online groups are sharing images of younger children and more extreme forms of abuse.

“Historically, you would never have gone to a black market shop and asked, ‘I want real hard-core with 3-year-olds,’” said Yolanda Lippert, a prosecutor in Illinois who leads a team investigating online child abuse. “But now you can sit seemingly secure on your device searching for this stuff, trading for it.”

As I have been writing for several years now - Sin is Progressive! This is another example where ordinary pornography often results in users wanting younger and younger victims, with more and more violence. The extreme conclusion of this trend is the raping of babies and snuff videos. And, unfortunately, there are many of both out there.

Lawmakers foresaw the crisis years ago, but enforcement has fallen short

Congress passed a landmark law in 2008 that foresaw many of today’s problems, but The Times found that the federal government had not fulfilled major aspects of the legislation. Annual funding for state and regional investigations was authorized at $60 million, but only about half of that is regularly approved.

Senator Richard Blumenthal, a sponsor of the law’s reauthorization, said there was “no adequate or logical explanation and no excuse” for why more money was not allocated. Even $60 million a year, he said, would now be “vastly inadequate.”

Another cornerstone of the law, biennial strategy reports by the Justice Department, was mostly ignored. And although a senior executive-level official was to oversee the federal response at the Justice Department, that has not happened.

The Justice Department’s coordinator for child exploitation prevention, Stacie B. Harris, said she could not explain the poor record. A spokeswoman for the department, citing limited resources, said the reports would now be written every four years beginning in 2020.

Law enforcement agencies are struggling to keep up

With so many reports of the images coming their way, police departments across the country are besieged. Some have managed their workload by focusing efforts on imagery depicting the youngest, most vulnerable victims.

“We go home and think, ‘Good grief, the fact that we have to prioritize by age is just really disturbing,’” said Detective Paula Meares, who has investigated child sex crimes for more than 10 years at the Los Angeles Police Department.

About one of every 10 agents in Homeland Security’s investigative section is assigned to child sexual exploitation cases, officials said, a clear indication of how big the problem is.

“We could double our numbers and still be getting crushed,” said Jonathan Hendrix, a Homeland Security agent who investigates cases in Nashville.

Tech companies can take months to respond to subpoenas or warrants

Police records and emails, as well as interviews with nearly three dozen law enforcement officials, show that some tech companies can take weeks or months to respond to questions from the authorities, if they respond at all. Some do not retain essential information about what they find.

Of course, why would tech companies take the problem seriously when the government doesn't?

Law enforcement records shared with The Times show that Tumblr was one of the least cooperative companies. In one case, Tumblr alerted a person who had uploaded explicit images that the account had been referred to the authorities, a practice that a former employee told The Times was common for years. The tip allowed the man to destroy evidence, the police said.

OMG! Why was Tumblr allowed to get away with that. That's complicity isn't it?

A spokeswoman for Verizon said that Tumblr prioritized time-sensitive cases, which delayed other responses. Since Verizon acquired the company in 2017, the spokeswoman said, its practice was not to alert users of police requests for data. Verizon recently sold Tumblr to the web development company Automattic.

The bulk of reports last year came from Facebook Messenger

Facebook Messenger was responsible for nearly two-thirds of reports in 2018. And earlier this year, the company announced that it planned to begin encrypting messages, which would make them even harder to police.

Facebook has long known about abuse images on its platforms, including a video of a man sexually assaulting a 6-year-old that went viral last year on Messenger. When Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook’s chief executive, announced the move to encryption, he acknowledged the risk it presented for “truly terrible things like child exploitation.”

Nevertheless, it's not his problem, right? We should make it his problem. We should fine all platforms $10,000 for every child sex abuse image, and $50,000 for every child sex abuse video that is found on their platform. I think they will take it more seriously then. What do you think?

NBA great Kobe Bryant has been dropped from the jury of an animated film festival in the US over rape claims stemming from 2003. A petition had circulated calling for the former LA Lakers star to be removed from the panel.

Organizers at the 'Animation Is Film Festival’ in Los Angeles, which runs from October 19 to 21, announced the decision to take Bryant off the jury on Wednesday.

“After discussions with the various stakeholders of Animation Is Film, the decision has been made to remove Kobe Bryant from the 2018 jury,” said Eric Beckman, the CEO of GKIDS, the company that organizes the event.

“We are a young organization and it is important to keep our collective energies focused on the films, the participating filmmakers, and our festival attendees,” Beckman added, according to AP.

There had been calls online for Bryant to be removed from the jury over sexual assault claims from 2003, when the basketballer was accused of raping a 19-year-old hotel employee.

A petition on the change.org website read: “This is an urgent time to say NO to toxic and violent behavior against women. Keeping Kobe Bryant on the jury sets a precedent of lenience for sexual criminals and further undermines the visibility and respect that victims of harassment and assault deserve.”

The petition had gained 204 signatures at the time of writing.

Bryant maintains that the 2003 encounter was consensual, and the case was dropped when the alleged victim refused to testify. She later settled a civil case with Bryant out of court, with the player admitting no guilt.

Responding to the news he would be removed from the jury, Bryant said: “This decision further motivates me and my commitment to building a studio that focuses on diversity and inclusion in storytelling for the animation industry.

“I remain focused on changing the world in positive ways through diverse stories, characters, and leadership, in order to inspire the next generation.”

The 40-year-old former Lakers star retired from the NBA in 2016, and has since devoted himself to numerous projects, including work at Granity Studios, which he founded.

His short film ‘Dear Basketball’ won the Oscar for best animated short film at this year’s Academy Awards.

‘Carnatic musician Ravikiran sexually harassed me’:
Two former students say ‘Me Too’

Ravikiran and Shashikiran are world renowned musicians

Ravikiran has, however, denied allegations against him and said that his ‘parental concern’ was misunderstood.

Over the last few weeks, several allegations of sexual harassment by prominent names in the field of Carnatic music have emerged. On Wednesday, a survivor who has been part of the music industry for almost a decade came out to name yet another highly accomplished musician, and her harrowing experiences with him as a student for three years. Lalitha*, in a series of messages to social activist Radhika Ganesh, has alleged that popular singer and chitravina player Ravikiran sexually abused her.

She has also levelled allegations of sexual harassment against his father Narasimhan. The messages have been posted with the survivor's permission on Facebook. They follow a string of anonymous allegations against Ravikiran's brother Shashikiran, who is also a popular musician.

Sounds like a very parental family!!!

Both Ravikiran and Shashikiran are world renowned musicians. Members of the Carnatic music industry tell TNM that they play a huge role in deciding the list of singers who perform at the Cleveland Thiagaraja festival every year. In addition to being the largest music festival outside India, this event is considered every musician's pass to performing across the United States of America.

Former students speak up

What Lalitha explains in her account is a textbook case of abuse of power in a place of education. She joined Ravikiran's Carnatic music classes at the age of 18. She says she initially did not find anything amiss when he claimed that he always tried to get to know his students personally. But soon, she says, the reason became clear.

"Under the pretext of dropping me or picking me up from my home, he used to take me in his car on a slow drive, while engaging in conversation. The conversation slowly shifted to how he was unhappy in his marriage. I tried to take the conversation away from that topic as much as I could,” she recounts. She says that his offer to go for an outstation concert left her perturbed, while the messages increased over time.

"He said, “I buy you coffees and get you concerts, but I don’t get to experience anything.” He then took me to his home after a drive and showed me his bedroom and asked if I liked it," says Lalitha.

"He had also asked me then, "What do you feel, are you wet?” I didn't even know what it meant then. Later on, the verbal harassment got more brazen with statements like – You are very sexy... Your boyfriend must be really lucky... What will you do when you like a boy?... Have you ever kissed?... Would you like to?” she recalls.

On other occasions, Ravikiran allegedly listed the female musicians he had affairs with and tried to initiate dirty talk, Lalitha says.

Two former students of Ravikiran, who were his disciples at the same time as Lalitha, corroborated her allegations to TNM.

"A bunch of us were in the living room of her house, jamming together," says Praveen*, who was a student of Ravikiran. "And Lalitha came out of the bathroom and sat down, she looked very troubled. She didn't say much, which was odd because she is a talkative person. And then, suddenly, she burst into tears. When we asked her what happened, she told us that she told Ravikiran she will be late for class as she had to take a bath and get ready. He apparently replied to her saying, 'I wish I could join you'," reveals the former student.

Another female student, Archana*, who was Ravikiran's disciple for a short while, says that he approached her, too, for car drives and attempted to get too personal.

"She (Lalitha) happened to hint to me that he is capable of flirting as we were on that topic. I took the courage to tell her the kind of personal questions he asked me, and that got her to confess some unbelievably perverted things you would never want to hear from your guru," recalls Archana, in her account which has also been posted by Radhika on her Facebook page. "I also saw how mentally stressed out she was as she had left everything to pursue music," she adds.

But disinterest and even her fear, did not stop Ravikiran, alleges Lalitha.

The unending harassment

"I went without knowing it was a one-on-one class and before I reached his place he called me and asked me not to ring the doorbell and instead call him. I did so. When I went in, he asked me to check if his father in-law was asleep. I did so, and then I went upstairs to his music room," says Lalitha. "He started talking dirty and started coming near me and touched my hair. Made me very scared and I cried," she adds.

The other two students were aware of the harassment being meted out, but did not speak up then.

"Nobody says anything because Ravikiran is influential in sabhas in the US. He can destroy your career if he wants to," explains Praveen. "If things don't go as per his narrative, he can get very vengeful," he points out.

Intimidation when rejected

Lalitha, at that point of time, was attempting to make a mark in Chennai's Carnatic music field. She claims she was trying to kickstart her career and avoid getting molested at the same time. But the results of rejecting his advances were evident in class, she says.

"He started giving away concerts she was supposed to do to others. From star pupil, she came down to being humiliated in every class," says Praveen.

Unable to understand why somebody so talented was being picked on, Archana claims she questioned Lalitha on Ravikiran's behaviour in class. "She broke down and told me how he has been trying to pursue her, and is very upset with her for not  reciprocating," says Archana. "When she decided to quit learning from him, he was so upset that he sent her emails with so many taunts and subtle threats," she adds.

While the mails and texts stated that he was unhappy with her performance, Lalitha claims the real reason for Ravikiran's behaviour was evident. "In the texts, he claimed these threats were because my performance was not up to the mark. But it was a totally obvious retaliation for rejecting his advances," says Lalitha. She finally left the class, but continues to carry the scars of the experience.

Another victim?

Another former student of Ravikiran approached TNM with her story as well. She was 18 years old and had been his student for a few years when he coaxed her to join him on car drives and have coffee with him. She says his behaviour took a drastic turn as soon she legally became an adult.

"He’d ask me if I’ve ever had sex, then he’d tell me, oh so you’re still a virgin in the woods. He also told me now that I’ve turned 18 I was free to make my own decisions. He’d also tell me that unlike alcohol or cigarettes, sex had no consequence. It felt like he was grooming me for consent," she tells TNM.

She eventually left his classes for good but he continued to call her for a while.

Former students allege that this was Ravikiran's modus operandi. "Build trust in a student and push his limits to see if he can coerce consent. And if said consent isn't given then make the student's life hellish," summarises Praveen.

Archana says she was just lucky, she understood his intentions in time. "He tried it with me as well but luckily he could not get too far. He traps you by telling you that there is no such thing as right and wrong. It was so sick that I can't tell you how much I regretted taking up music," she admits.

Ravikiran denies allegations

When TNM contacted Chitravina Ravikiran over the allegations levelled by the former students, he dismissed their claims.

Ravikiran says, "Asking someone if they have a boyfriend does not mean that I want to have sex with them. Moreover, I would never ask someone something that sleazy, it is not my style. I have never laid a finger on someone against their will. I am a victim of child sexual abuse myself.”

The musician states that he was always involved in the lives of all his students, including personal, financial and professional facets of it. "She has misunderstood my parental concern for her. I do this for my male and female students," he claims.

Ravikiran further goes on to state that he had pulled up Lalitha several times in class for bad conduct and that his students were aware of it. (Though TNM did not take her name, he said he could guess who the person was).

Responding to the allegations, Ravikiran instead accused Lalitha of being ‘flirtatious to others’.

"I tell all my students to be career conscious and focus on music. She wasn't practicing enough and there were complaints against her. I am known to give advice in soft manner as well as in a scathing manner in front of the entire class," he adds.

Praveen, who was also a student of Ravikiran however denies this. "The men in his classes were definitely treated like second class citizens," he alleges.

Archana meanwhile points out that Ravikiran was particularly cruel to Lalitha.

"He would literally humiliate and break her in class. And she was one of the most talented singers there," she states.

When questioned about the alleged blackmail Lalitha was subjected to when she attempted to quit, Ravikiran laughs it off. "How can I take away opportunities in a democratic society?" he asks. "Am I the mafia?" he asks.

‘Don't question the Guru’

Stalwarts in the industry, tell TNM, that the complex relationship that a Guru and his student shares, often robs the latter of the power to say no to their teachers.

"In the world of art and culture, the Guru-Sishya dynamic is very complex. The Guru wields immense power over his students and is almost seen as a demi-god," says Swarnamalya, a performing artiste. "If a student aspires to take up music or dance as a career, then the Guru's decisions and opinion will permeate into every aspect of their life," she explains.

She says that there is a culture of not questioning the Guru and the student is groomed into believing that the Guru's help and guidance is required to make a mark in the field. "They are considered to be the custodians of any knowledge imparted to you. That is why even parents push their children without paying any attention to the abnormality in the relationship. It simply does not strike them that sexual harassment could occur in this environment. This hold that the Guru has over the student must be inspected," she adds.

In Sexual Misconduct Case

Tekashi 6ix9ine’s 2015 case has a new development. According to Pitchfork, the “FEFE” rapper received four years probation for a plea agreement violation. Born Daniel Hernandez, the controversial rapper originally faced 1-3 years in prison.

The Brooklyn native breached the terms which led to his court appearances and prosecutors’ pleas for prison time. Documents were filed calling for 6ix9ine to register as a sex offender. However, the court did not mandate that the controversial rapper enter his name into the sex offender database.

The 22-year-old violated the plea terms when he faced a misdemeanor assault charge in May 2018. He was later booked for operating a vehicle with a suspended license. Pitchfork adds Hernandez was also tied to an assault concerning an NYPD officer.

In 2015’s first quarter, 6ix9ine was detained for evidence of his unlawful involvement with a 13-year-old girl. Reports state he used the underage teen in “a sexual performance” and he later pled guilty to the charge. He was 18 at the time. His plea deal was enacted a while after and served as a temporary hold until it was time for sentencing.

As part of his probation, Tekashi will have to complete 1,000 hours of community service, TMZ reports. His interaction with gang members will also have to cease. If he violates again, a new re-sentencing date will be likely.

Community service - wonder what that will look like?

Two members of Ontario's new Premier's inner circle
resign due to inappropriate sexual behaviour

Global News has learned from multiple sources that two senior members of Premier Doug Ford’s inner circle were forced to resign Friday due to allegations of sexually inappropriate behaviour.

Jim Wilson resigned from his position as Minister of Economic Development and Trade, as well as from the PC caucus after he was confronted with the allegations.

The allegations, involving sexual misconduct, were made by a male Queen’s Park staffer and the premier’s office became aware of the claim late Friday afternoon.

Just after 6 p.m., a member of Premier Ford’s communications team issued the following statement: “The Honourable Jim Wilson has resigned as Minister of Economic Development, Job Creation, and Trade, effective immediately. Mr. Wilson will also be resigning from the Progressive Conservative caucus to seek treatment for addiction issues.”

The short statement made no mention of the allegations against Wilson.

Wilson will remain as the MPP for the riding of Simcoe—Grey, sitting as an independent. Jim Wilson has been a member of provincial parliament since 1990 and had served in the cabinets of former premiers Mike Harris and Ernie Eves. He was also chosen by the PC party to serve as interim leader following the 2014 resignation of former leader Tim Hudak.

Global News reached out to the premier’s office and Jim Wilson for comment and have not received a reply.

Global News also learned from multiple sources that Andrew Kimber, (left) Ford’s executive director of issues management and legislative affairs, resigned Friday after being confronted about multiple sexually inappropriate text messages he allegedly sent to a female staffer at Queen’s Park.

No statement was issued about Kimber’s departure or about the allegations. Kimber had been a trusted adviser to the premier since he was sworn in this summer.

Explicit messages sent during manic episode,
exposure left me suicidal, says sexting MP

(CC) Chris McAndrew / UK Parliament

MP Andrew Griffiths, who sent 2,000 sexually explicit messages to women, leading to his resignation, has said that he was having a manic episode and that his condition is linked to being sexually abused as a boy.

The disgraced MP for Burton told the Sunday Times that he had considered suicide after the messages were exposed and that the episode lead to him spending 31 days in a psychiatric hospital.

The MP, 48, repeatedly attempted to ‘sext’ a 28-year-old bar worker and her friend. He was exposed in July after the Sunday Mirror published extracts from the over 2,000 messages - many of which were of violent and graphic nature. In some of the messages Griffiths referred to himself as “daddy,” while others were boasts of his connections to celebrities and the Royal Family.

Addressing the episode, Griffiths told the newspaper: “I don’t for one second try to excuse what I did. The texts were horrible and I apologize hugely for them, and to everyone I have hurt. I am ashamed and embarrassed.

“But I need to put into context why it happened, so that in 15 years, when my daughter reads this interview, she’ll understand exactly why I found myself in this terrible situation.”

Griffiths, a one time chief of staff for Theresa May, also faced allegations of bullying and inappropriate touching from several Conservative colleagues. The allegations, one of which was being investigated at the time, didn’t stop the MP being appointed Small Businesses Minister. He stepped down from the role following the sext expose.

Which tells you a lot about Theresa May!

In an attempt to explain his behavior to his constituents, Griffiths spoke of the incident as being “the result of my mental breakdown, my battle with my own mental health has been ongoing for decades.”

During his time in hospital, the MP detailed how he “confided aloud for the first time in my life that as a child I was abused by an older boy of about 15.”

On his suicidal thoughts, Griffiths, whose daughter was born earlier this year said: “Two things saved my life; the first was the thought of what suicide would do to my daughter and wife. The second was the chief whip, who contacted parliament’s doctor and got me into hospital.”

The interview comes as a Conservative disciplinary panel is due to decide on whether the MP should be kicked out of the party. Despite resigning from his ministerial role, Griffiths has refused to step down as an MP, despite condemnation from Tory colleagues and protests from his constituents.

It is very unfortunate that Griffiths was sexually abused as a child and it certainly explains many of his problems, but it can never be used as an excuse to afflict others with your problems.

Kim Richards Reveals She Was a
Victim of Sexual Abuse as a Child
Lara Sophia

Former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Kim Richards is opening up about the sexual abuse she experienced as a child.

According to Reality Blurb, Kim revealed that she was a victim of sexual abuse as a child during a recent episode of Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars.

When I was about 6-yrs-old, I didn’t have a lot of friends. So, when the ice cream man would pull up out front in the ice cream truck, he would let me get inside the truck and he would let me serve the kids ice cream,” Kim confessed. “And one day, I turned around, and he had no pants on.”

Adding, “And he grabbed my hand and put it on him. And I just kind of, you know, backed up and ran out of the truck.”

One of the show’s therapist then asked Kim how this event shaped her life and affected her relationships.

Kim explained that this traumatic event affected her ability to love.

“I think it blocked my love for a long time,” Kim explained. “I was afraid to love.”

During the same episode, Kim also opened up about the death of her former fiance John Collett. Collett was killed in 1991 after being shot execution style.

Kim opened up about John after she was asked to paint a traumatic event from her past.

“This is John, my fiance. We were on the phone, and then he said ‘Tell me you love me,’” said Kim. “Two men just walked up and one of them shot him. That was the biggest pain I had ever felt, and I put a wall up.”

As you know Kim has battled alcoholism her entire adult life. Alcoholism can be a result of childhood trauma and stress.

Thankfully, Kim is currently sober and very happy.
