CSA in the UK > Teen gets 22 months for online 'cruel manipulation' of young girls

'Cruel manipulator' jailed for child sex offences

Tyler Allen manipulated five children into sending him intimate images and videos [Gloucestershire Constabulary

A 'cruel manipulator' who asked young girls to send him explicit images and then threatened to kill and rape one when she refused to meet him has been sentenced to 22 months in a young offenders' institution.

Tyler Allen, of Vicarage Court in Brockworth, Gloucestershire, manipulated five victims into sending him intimate images and videos of themselves in 2023.

He pleaded guilty to six counts of causing/inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, two charges of causing a child to watch a sexual act and two charges of engaging in sexual communication with a child.

Allen, 20, who committed the offences when he was aged 17 and 18, was sentenced on Thursday at Gloucester Crown Court.

The court was told that Allen's offending followed a common pattern of him manipulating online conversations with girls to become sexual.

It heard that when the girls resisted, he used emotional manipulation by saying he loved them or that he would harm himself if they did not comply.

He asked a 12-year-old to meet him on her 13th birthday, and when she made an excuse not to, he threatened to rape and kill her.

In a separate incident, he demanded images from a 15 year-old girl and then threatened to post them on social media platforms if she did not send more.

The other charges related to online contact with children aged between 12 and 15.

'He exploited children'

Allen, who made his guilty pleas in July, was then arrested and charged following an investigation by Gloucestershire Police's Child Exploitation Team.

Investigating officer, Police Staff Investigator Amber Jones said: "Allen cruelly manipulated and exploited children for his own sexual gratification.

"The victims in this case have shown great courage in coming forward, especially as what he did to them is an exceptionally difficult topic for people of any age to talk about," she added.

As well as the detention sentence, he was given a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

Over 270 years in prison for California man who lured girls on Snapchat

A Placer Superior Court judge on Friday sentenced a 26-year-old Lincoln man to more than 270 years to life in prison for sexually assaulting girls after luring the victims on Snapchat.

On Oct. 2, a jury found Marco Antonio Garcia Montejano guilty of 27 criminal charges that included committing lewd acts with a child younger than 14 years old and other sexual assault charges, the Placer County District Attorney’s Office announced Monday in a news release.

Montejano was prosecuted for crimes committed from July 2019 through January 2022, court records show. Montejano was arrested and booked March 4, 2023, at the Placer County Jail.

Prosecutors said the investigation began when officers from the Lincoln Police Department responded to an apartment complex where Montejano had grabbed a young girl into his apartment to perform a sex act.

Investigators determined that Montejano had preyed on victims from his apartment in the same complex, first communicating with them on Snapchat, according to the District Attorney’s Office. The girls were not friends with Montejano on the popular social media platform, and they did not have any mutual friends.

Snapchat’s Snap Map shows users’ live locations on an interactive map, making nearby profiles visually discoverable, according to the D.A.’s Office. The Snapchat map often reveals bitmojis and other cues that hint at a user’s age or gender.

These are tools that pedophiles drool over as if they were designed specifically for them.

Prosecutors said that visible proximity lets predators identify and target children who appear nearby, then use in-app messaging to groom or arrange contact — unless Snapchat’s location sharing is turned off or set to ghost mode and strict friend-only settings are enforced.

Prosecutors said Montejano pretended to be a teenage boy on Snapchat, asked the girls to meet him in a public area at the apartment complex before forcing the girls into his apartment.

Police confiscated Montejano’s phone where they found child pornography and information corroborating what the sexual assault victims told investigators, according to the D.A.’s Office.

Deputy District Attorney Brandie Huggett, who prosecuted Montejano, said the defendant was constantly communicating with the girls on Snapchat, “carefully cultivating trust and emotional dependence” to manipulate the victims.

“The defendant’s conduct was not impulsive or opportunistic. It was deliberate, methodical and deeply exploitative,” Huggett said in the news release. “He invested significant time and effort into identifying, targeting and grooming his victims through Snapchat.”

Judge Garen J. Horst sentenced Montejano to 250 years to life in prison, along with an additional 24 years and four months in prison.

In response to this criminal case, the D.A.’s Office has launched the AppSafe Initiative that seeks to bring attention to these dangerous social media trends, give tips on how to put protective settings on children’s phones and keep children away from online predators.

MARSHALL CO., Ala. (WAFF) - A 51-year-old Guntersville man received the maximum sentence for a child sex abuse charge on Monday.

According to the Marshall County District Attorney’s Office, James Alan Hayes entered the Geraldine Police Department on September 3, 2024, to confess to a crime.

On that day, Hayes confessed to investigators that he molested a 9-year-old while he was living in Guntersville.

James Alan Hayes received the maximum sentence for a child sex abuse charge on Monday.

Nearly a year later, Hayes entered a “blind” plea to two counts of Sexual Abuse of a Child Less than 12.

On Monday morning, Circuit Judge Matt Elliott sentenced Hayes to 40 years in prison. He will not have the opportunity for parole or good time.

“Hayes will remain in the Alabama Department of Corrections until his death or until he is almost 92 years old, whichever comes first.”

The victim in this case has been through the unimaginable and is still struggling today. I ask that our community pray for her healing. I am thankful Mr. Hayes came forward and confessed to his crimes; however, as Judge Elliot pointed out at sentencing, that does not mean he is not deserving of the maximum punishment under law.

No, but it is hardly going to encourage others to come forward and confess.

Nineteen men have been arrested by police investigating historical child sexual abuse.

The arrests took place during October at addresses in Kirklees, Calderdale, Bradford and outside West Yorkshire, police said.

The men were held on suspicion of offences including rape, sexual assault and human trafficking involving five women who were children at the time. The alleged offences are believed to have taken place between 2000 and 2009.

The suspects have been interviewed and either released on bail or under investigation, a West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said.

Det Ch Insp Rob Stevens said the offences largely took place in the Kirklees area and the investigation had been "lengthy and complex".

"This large-scale inquiry demonstrates our ongoing commitment to investigating both current and non-recent sexual offences," he said.

"Child sexual abuse and exploitation is an abhorrent and heinous crime and one which affects some of the most vulnerable people in our society, and we have made large strides in recent years in Kirklees to bring persons involved in these dreadful crimes before the courts."

Wolves Among the Sheep > Assemblies of God's godless record of dealing with child sexual abuse

Assemblies of God churches shielded accused predators — and allowed them to keep abusing children

NBC News uncovered a 50-year pattern of sex abuse, silence and cover-up in the world’s largest Pentecostal denomination.

Nobody called police after Stephanie Davis said she caught her children's pastor secretly filming girls around 2004; he went on to sexually assault two children.Houston Cofield for NBC News

This article is part of “Pastors and Prey,” a series investigating sex abuse allegations in the Assemblies of God.

A children’s pastor was caught filming girls in a church bathroom in Arkansas. Elders suspended him for a few weeks.

In Illinois, a preacher was accused of sexually abusing children. Church leaders sent him to therapy rather than call police.

In California, a worship minister went to prison for molesting boys. His congregation threw him a party when he returned.

All of these men remained in ministry in the Assemblies of God, the world’s largest Pentecostal denomination. All went on to abuse more children.

Since the 1970s, Assemblies of God churches have repeatedly reinstated ministers and volunteer leaders accused of sexual misconduct, returning them to pulpits and youth groups, an NBC News investigation found. While some of the other largest Christian denominations now require safeguards such as background checks and mandatory reporting, national Assemblies of God leaders have resisted, arguing such rules would increase legal risk, undermine its commitment to local church autonomy and defy a core biblical command: to forgive.

The result is a patchwork system that has protected accused predators and left generations of children in danger.

NBC News identified nearly 200 Assemblies of God pastors, church employees and volunteer leaders accused of sexual abuse over the past half century, based on a nationwide search of lawsuits, criminal records and news archives. Together, they allegedly abused more than 475 people — the overwhelming majority of them children. The allegations stretch into this year, when a 10-year-old girl said in a lawsuit that her pastor groped her during Bible study.

Survivors say they were violated in sanctuaries, at pastors’ homes and in tents on camping trips. A California preacher was accused of holding knives to children’s chests while forcing them to perform sex acts on each other. In Louisiana, a youth leader confessed to drugging and assaulting three boys during a sleepover. A couple in New Mexico say their pastor used his spiritual authority to drive them apart, then coerced the wife into sex.

Of the alleged abusers, 123 were ministers, and nearly half of those were youth pastors. Others were church employees, youth group leaders or Sunday school teachers. Dozens were accused of luring boys through the Royal Rangers, a Pentecostal version of the Boy Scouts.

In about 30 instances, church leaders placed alleged abusers into positions of authority after they had been accused, freeing them to strike again. Convicted sex offenders led youth groups. Accused ministers were reinstated or quietly moved to new congregations. As a result, according to lawsuits and police records, dozens more children were abused.

In nearly 40 other cases, leaders allegedly covered up or dismissed reports of misconduct — often by failing to alert police or pressuring victims to stay quiet. Melody Meza recalled a leader in her congregation praying for lying, demonic spirits to leave her after she reported abuse by a church elder.

“They made me feel like something was wrong with me and not the person abusing me,” said Meza, one of nearly 20 people suing an Assemblies of God church in California accused of concealing decades of abuse.

Others said preachers twisted scripture to silence them. “Touch not the Lord’s anointed,” pastors warned, citing a verse from Psalms that some interpret as a command to never question spiritual leaders.

Courtney Blackburn said she wishes her church’s former leaders had looked to another passage, one in which Jesus commanded followers to protect children. When she reported misconduct by her youth pastor in Arkansas, she said, they left him in place.

The Perverted lives of the Rich and Famous > Elon Musk's father accused of Child Sex Abuse and incest - NYTimes

Times Investigation

Elon Musk’s Father Accused of Child Sexual Abuse

Errol Musk has been accused of sexually abusing five of his children and stepchildren since 1993, a Times investigation found. Family members have appealed to Elon Musk for help.

Elon Musk has not been shy about putting much of his life on public display. The tech billionaire posts daily on his social network X, has cooperated with two biographies and often speaks on podcasts and at conferences.

But there is one part of his life that he has not revealed much about — his longtime estrangement from his father, Errol Musk, who has become increasingly outspoken about his family and business ventures tied to the Musk name.

A New York Times investigation found that a significant factor in Elon Musk’s rupture with his father stems from accusations against Errol Musk of child sex abuse. The allegations have repeatedly spilled over into Elon Musk’s life as relatives have contacted him for help and he has sometimes taken action to intercede, according to personal letters, emails and interviews with family members.

The family’s troubles have entangled Elon Musk in a painful three-decade multigenerational saga that continues to trail him. The fallout has kept the 54-year-old mogul tethered to South Africa, where he was born and where Errol Musk lives, even as he has built a business empire in the United States and briefly ascended to political power as a close adviser to President Trump.

Latvia votes to pull out of Istanbul treaty against violence on women

Latvia's parliament votes to withdraw from treaty protecting women from violence

Europe

Latvia’s parliament voted on Thursday to withdraw from the Istanbul Convention on preventing violence against women, claiming it promotes “gender” theories. The decision would make Latvia the first European Union member to quit the treaty, which lawmakers had ratified less than a year ago, in November 2024.

Latvia's parliament voted on Thursday to withdraw the Baltic country from a treaty on preventing violence against women, saying that it promotes "gender" theories.

The vote would make Latvia the first European Union country to quit the Istanbul Convention, which the very same parliament had ratified in November 2024.

Thursday's tally was 56 to 32, with two abstentions.

The motion must now be signed by President Edgars Rinkevics, who has indicated he is not in favour but has also hinted that he might not override a parliamentary decision.

The Council of Europe convention requires signatory parties to develop laws and policies aimed at ending violence against women and domestic physical abuse.

Right-wing opposition parties voted to quit the treaty, while the governing coalition led by centre-right Prime Minister Evika Silina was split, with representatives of the Union of Greens and Farmers voting to leave the treaty and the other parties voting to stay.

The Council of Europe has repeatedly rejected allegations that the treaty imposes gender theories, notably stating in 2022 that "the Istanbul Convention does not establish any new norms on gender identity or sexual orientation".

The Latvian right wing maintains that withdrawing from the convention will not weaken the fight against violence against women because national laws are sufficient.

Women's rights groups have organised several demonstrations in Riga in recent weeks.

"The ratification of the Istanbul Convention in Latvia has produced significant results, which are not just words on paper, but represent lives saved," argued the MARTA Center, which advocates for the rights of women and migrants.

Latvia's right wing is also behind a recent proposed amendment that would restrict abortion access in the country.
