Is Nick Carter a serial rapist as his brother declared?

Nick Carter 'being sued for sexual battery as star is accused of assaulting

disabled minor, 17, in 2001 on a tour bus - leaving her with HPV'

Nick Carter is 'being sued for sexual battery' after it was claimed he assaulted a disabled fan on a tour bus in 2001, reports TMZ.

According to court documents reviewed by TMZ, Shannon Ruth, who has autism and cerebral palsy, claims the Backstreet Boys singer, now 42, invited her onto his tour bus when she was aged 17 following the band's concert in Tacoma, Washington after spotting her waiting in the autograph line.

The legal documents state Ruth was allegedly asked if she wanted a drink - after requesting apple juice, she claims Carter offered her cranberry and gave her a 'red colored' drunk which he called 'VIP juice'.

A source close to Nick has denied the allegations and told the publication: 'This accusation is categorically false, Nick is focusing on his family and mourning the death of his brother.'

His brother died a few months ago, and the term 'is focusing' refers to the present, not 21 years ago.

Ruth claims the drink tasted 'off' as she drank it and says she believes it was a mix of cranberry juice and alcohol.

It was claimed by Ruth that Carter took her to the bus' bathroom and ordered her to perform oral sex on him. Ruth alleges that she was crying throughout but Carter 'kept instructing her.'

Ruth further claims Carter then took her to a bed on the bus and continued his alleged sexual assault.

She claims afterwards that she told Carter she would tell people about the alleged assault - but that he reportedly threatened to turn people against her, allegedly calling her a  "r******* little b***h that no one would believe.'

Ruth claims she contracted sexual transmitted infection, Human papillomavirus infection (HPV) from the alleged assault, having been a virgin beforehand.

She is now said to be seeking damages.

Aaron Carter suicide or OD

Carter's younger brother Aaron Carter was found dead aged 34 in his bathtub in Lancaster, California on November 5.  No cause of death has been officially declared, but he was known to have struggled with mental health problems and addictions.

How often do we see those linked together - mental health and addictions? Recreational drugs are destroying people at an alarming rate. It's long past time to do something about it.

DailyMail.com has contacted representatives for Nick Carter for comment.

Carter has previously faced rape allegations - which he has denied - he has never been charged with any crimes.

Singer Melissa Schuman said that the boy bander allegedly raped her in 2003.

In 2018 the LA County District Attorney's office announced it would not press charges against Carter due to the statute of limitations, which expired in 2013.

Melissa, who is from the 90s girl group named Dream, had filed the police report in February that year.

She claimed that in 2003 Nick had pushed her in a bathroom for forced oral sex and then claimed she was raped in the bedroom.

Sounds like the same MO that happened to Shannon. Coincidence?

Nick has denied allegations of rape.

Later the Backstreet Boys star said in a statement that he was 'shocked and saddened' about the accusations.

He said: 'Melissa never expressed to me while we were together or at any time since that anything we did was not consensual.'

Nick added that he 'was always respectful and supportive of Melissa both personally and professionally.'

He concluded in the statement that 'this is the first time that I am hearing about these accusations nearly two decades later. It is contrary to my nature and everything I hold dear to intentionally cause someone discomfort or harm.'

He continued, noting that they 'went on to record a song and perform together.'

Melissa originally made the allegations in a November blog post.

She claimed that she was 'forced to engage in an act against my will' by Nick, who allegedly took her virginity when she was 18 and he was 22.

Bill Cosby, NBC sued by 5 women in new sexual assault case

Bill Cosby arrives for a sentencing hearing following his sexual assault conviction in Norristown Pa., on Sept. 25, 2018. The comedian faces another lawsuit from five women who allege he sexually abused them in the 1980s and '90s. (Matt Rourke/The Associated Press)

Five women who have long accused Bill Cosby of sexually assaulting them early in their careers have filed the latest lawsuit against the 85-year-old comedian — and this one calls NBCUniversal, a studio and a production company complicit in the abuse.

The lawsuit comes more than a year after Cosby left prison after his 2018 sexual assault conviction in Pennsylvania was overturned. Earlier this year, a Los Angeles jury awarded $500,000 US to a woman who said Cosby sexually abused her at the Playboy Mansion when she was a teenager in 1975.

The lawsuit filed Monday under New York's one-year window for adults to file sexual abuse complaints involves accusers Lili Bernard, Eden Tirl, Jewel Gittens, Jennifer Thompson and Cindra Ladd. The lawsuit alleges that each woman was abused or assaulted by Cosby after meeting him on set or through other entertainment circles in the late 1960s through the 1990s.

"It was well-known that Bill Cosby would regularly take young women into his dressing room, and when you read the complaint, you'll see there were instances where staff saw this happening and even encouraged the plaintiff to submit," said lawyer Jordan Rutsky, who represents all five women.

"This was not a hidden secret that Bill Cosby was doing these things," Rutsky said. "It was just accepted."

The lawsuit alleges that NBC, Kaufman Astoria Studios and Carsey-Werner Television "facilitated the sexual assault of women" by failing to check Cosby's power and proclivities, and failed to protect the women from being alone with him, because they profited from his work.

'All about money'

In at least some of the cases, the lawsuit says, Cosby first drugged the woman through drinks or pills he provided.

Drugs involved again!

Cosby spokesman Andrew Wyatt said the "accusers have resurfaced to file a frivolous civil lawsuit" against Cosby. He speculated that they hoped to get quick settlements from the corporate defendants and use those funds to finance their pursuit of Cosby.

"This isn't about justice for victims of alleged sexual assault, it's all about money," Wyatt said in a statement, echoing the defence arguments in Cosby's criminal retrial in Pennsylvania — a case which saw him convicted of drugging and sexually assaulting a Temple University employee at his Philadelphia-area home in 2004.

A spokeswoman for NBCUniversal, the network that aired The Cosby Show from 1984 to 1992, said the company would not comment on legal issues. Neither Kaufman Astoria nor Carsey-Werner immediately returned phone or email messages left Tuesday afternoon seeking comment.

Cosby served nearly three years in prison before Pennsylvania's Supreme Court overturned the conviction, finding that he gave incriminating testimony in a deposition about the encounter only after believing he had immunity from prosecution. The trial judge and an intermediate appeals court had found no evidence of such immunity.

Bernard, who appeared on The Cosby Show in the early 1990s, also has a pending lawsuit against Cosby in New Jersey over an alleged encounter in Atlantic City.

Seven other accusers received a settlement from Cosby's insurers in the wake of the Pennsylvania conviction over a defamation lawsuit they had filed in Massachusetts. Their lawsuit said that Cosby and his agents disparaged them in denying their allegations of abuse.

Nick Carter is facing new sexual assault allegations in a lawsuit that claims he sexually assaulted a woman and gave her a sexually transmitted infection (STI) that led to cervical cancer.

In the lawsuit, filed last week in Nevada, a woman named Laura Penly claims that she met Carter in late 2004 when she was 19 years old and he was in his mid-20s and they began having a consensual sexual relationship when they “would see each other approximately every few weeks” when she visited Los Angeles, according to documents obtained by People.

Penly alleges that she had asked the Backstreet Boys singer to wear a condom and he “refused,” telling her that he was “clean” from STIs, according to her filing. (Global News has not independently viewed the legal documents.)

According to the lawsuit, Penly says that prior to Carter, now 45, she never had unprotected sex with anyone.

She alleges that in early 2005, she went to Carter’s apartment but only wanted to watch a movie with him. Her lawsuit alleges that Carter “told her no because the only reason she was there was to have sex.”

The lawsuit alleges that the sexual assault “forcefully” happened on his bed, despite Penly “saying ‘no’ multiple times.”

Carter allegedly “failed to use protection to prevent the spread of sexually transmitted infections.”

Penly says she was told to keep the assault a secret since no one would believe her anyway. But a few months later, Carter allegedly apologized and she went to see him again where she alleges she was sexually assaulted for a second time, according to the lawsuit.

The woman alleges that Carter “infected plaintiff with various sexually transmitted diseases, including the human papillomavirus (commonly known as HPV), a sexually transmitted infection known to cause health problems such as cervical cancer.”

Penly allegedly tested positive for chlamydia and gonorrhea, as well as cancerous cells following a doctor’s visit in July 2005.

By August 2005, Penly “was diagnosed with Stage 2 cervical cancer and had to undergo numerous treatments,” according to the suit.

Penly claims she dealt with “severe emotional distress, physical anguish, medical issues, intimacy issues, and other complex trauma” following the diagnosis and alleged assault.

She is seeking damages in excess of $15,000 and is demanding a jury trial.

“It takes profound courage and resilience for survivors of sexual assault to publicly come forward in pursuit of justice, particularly in the music industry that has long fostered a pervasive environment of sexual exploitation,” Penly’s lawyer, Gianna N. Elliot, said in a statement.

“Carter used his power, status, and fame to sexually abuse and assault multiple young women and avoid any accountability. This lawsuit aims to change that pattern,” Elliot continued.

“We hope that Laura receives the justice she rightfully deserves and that this lawsuit serves as a catalyst, empowering other survivors to raise their voices and hold their abusers to account,” Elliot concluded.

Carter has denied Penly’s accusations, which his lawyers, Liane K. Wakayama and Dale Hayes, Jr, called “nonsense from the gang of conspirators and their lawyers who continue to abuse the justice system to try to ruin Nick Carter.”

“It’s drawn from the same predictable playbook — lie in wait for decades until Mr. Carter is celebrating a professional milestone, then hide behind litigation privilege to make utterly false claims in an attempt to inflict maximum damage on Nick and his family,” his lawyers said in a statement.

Carter’s lawyers claim that the singer doesn’t recall ever meeting Penly.

“He certainly never had any romantic or sexual relationship with her. Ever,” they said.

Penly’s lawsuit marks the fourth sexual assault lawsuit filed against Carter.

In August 2023, an unnamed Pennsylvania woman filed a lawsuit in Clark County, Nev., alleging that the singer raped her when she was 15 years old in 2003.

In the legal filing, the woman, identified only as A.R., claimed Carter sexually assaulted her multiple times in 2003, when Carter was 22 and 23 years old. She alleged Carter raped her in separate instances onboard a yacht and a boat in Florida, and sexually assaulted her on a bus.

In one instance, A.R. claimed Carter provided her drugs and alcohol at a party onboard a boat in October 2003. After she became drunk, A.R. alleged Carter took her to a cabin where he allowed three other men to watch him rape her.

A.R. also claimed she contracted HPV from Carter.

She sued him for sexual battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress and negligent infliction of emotional distress.

She was the third woman to file a lawsuit of this nature against the Backstreet Boys star.

Two other women, Shannon Ruth and Melissa Schuman, have also accused Carter of rape and sexual assault. Ruth said Carter raped her when she was 17 years old.

In February 2023, Carter filed a countersuit and denied both women’s claims. He called Ruth and Schuman “opportunists” who took advantage of the #MeToo movement to “defame and vilify” him for financial gain.

As part of earlier lawsuits, Ruth said Carter invited her onto a tour bus after a concert in Tacoma, Wash., when she was 17 years old. She claimed Carter gave her alcohol and forced her to perform oral sex before he raped her. Ruth also alleged that she contracted HPV from Carter.

In 2017, Schuman, a former member of the girl group Dream, accused Carter of sexually assaulting her when she was 18.

Schuman told the court Carter sexually assaulted and raped her at his Santa Monica, Calif., apartment in 2003 after giving her a sedative. At the time, Carter (then 22) and Schuman (then 18) were co-workers filming the thriller movie The Hollow.

In August 2024, Carter filed a $2.5-million countersuit against Schuman for defamation and interference with existing and prospective business contracts after she filed a suit against him for sexual assault and battery in April 2023.

Through his lawyers, Carter said Schuman’s lawsuit caused him to lose $2.5 million in business partnership deals with MeUndies, VRBO, Roblox and The Children’s Place, according to a Rolling Stone report. Carter also said ticket sales for his shows had slowed as a result of the lawsuit, leading to less profit.

Carter’s countersuit maintained he had been “falsely accused” of wrongdoing by Schuman, who has a “thirst for Internet relevance.” His lawsuit claimed Carter and Schuman had a “flirtatious” dynamic prior to having consensual sex in 2003.

Carter has never faced any criminal charges in relation to these allegations.

Frank Stronach committed to stand trial after preliminary inquiry into two charges

An Ontario court has committed billionaire businessman Frank Stronach to stand trial on two charges related to two complainants as part of his Toronto sexual assault case.

Ontario Court Justice Jacqueline Freeman made the ruling at the end of a preliminary inquiry that dealt exclusively with those two charges, which court has heard were the only ones eligible for the proceeding.

In total, Stronach – who has denied all allegations against him – will stand trial on 12 charges in Toronto. The trial has not yet been scheduled.

None of the arguments or evidence presented at the preliminary inquiry can be reported at this time because of a standard publication ban meant to preserve the accused’s right to a fair trial.

Stronach, who became one of Canada’s wealthiest people as the founder of auto parts giant Magna, is facing separate charges in York Region after the case was split into two last year.

Peel regional police charged him last year with 18 counts, including sexual assault and indecent assault, involving 13 complainants across Ontario.

Some of the charges date back decades, as far as the 1970s.

He was accompanied by a small group of supporters over the several days of the preliminary inquiry.

Drummer for indie rockers the New Pornographers arrested over child sexual abuse images

Joe Seiders in custody following search of home, vehicle and phone, after allegedly attempting to film child in California restaurant restroom

Joe Seiders, the American drummer with Canadian indie rockers the New Pornographers, has been arrested for possession of child sexual abuse imagery.

A statement made by the sheriff’s office of Riverside county, California, alleged that evidence has implicated Seiders in two incidents. On Monday 7 April, an 11-year-old boy reported that a man attempted to film him in a restroom of a fast food restaurant, and on Wednesday 9 April, police officers received another report from the restaurant, that a man was “entering and exiting the restroom with juvenile males at the business”.

Officers arrested Seiders at the scene, and secured search warrants for his home, vehicle and phone: “Evidence was located implicating him in the two reported incidents, along with additional crimes, including possessing child pornography,” the statement reads. He was also charged with annoying/molesting a child, invasion of privacy, and attempted invasion of privacy.

Seiders is being held in jail with bail set at $1m, and is due in court on 22 April.

The New Pornographers responded with a statement reading: “Everyone in the band is absolutely shocked, horrified, and devastated by the news of the charges against Joe Seiders – and we have immediately severed all ties with him. Our hearts go out to everyone who has been impacted by his actions.”

Right! The New Pornographers - surprised that their drummer is a pornographer! I wonder if they are interested in buying the tropical island I have for sale off the coast of Labrador?

Fronted by AC Newman and the Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Neko Case, the band are an enduring presence in North American indie, with a catalogue dating back to 2000 debut album Mass Romantic. One of their former members is Dan Bejar, AKA Destroyer. Their biggest chart success came with 2014 album Brill Bruisers, which reached No 13 in the US charts, after which their long-time drummer Kurt Dahle left and was replaced by Seiders.

As well as touring with the band, Seiders performed on their three most recent studio albums. He has also backed Case as well as artists including John Oates, Juliana Hatfield and Gary Jules, and previously played in the group Beat Club.
