Man charged with breaching non-molestation order in less than one day

further breaches, he would be in custody

A man has appeared in court accused of breaching a non-molestation order within 24 hours of it being issued.
Robert Maye is charged with breaching the order on Thursday in an offence “aggravated by domestic abuse”.
Lisburn Magistrates Court heard the order was issued on Wednesday, but the following day, Maye’s ex-wife was collecting their children when he “stood in front of the car” and then stuck his head in through an open window.
Objecting to bail, a prosecution lawyer said there were concerns about offences, especially as the latest order had only been served the day before the alleged offence.
Maye’s solicitor said he had been at a St Patrick’s Day party at the school so he had gone to see the children and to ask his ex-wife what had happened. They added: “He has been left in no uncertain terms that he can’t go to the school or see the children when his wife is there.”
District Judge Eamon King warned the 42-year-old if there was a “whisper whimper or hint” of any further breaches, he would be in custody, but in the meantime he was “going to give you one final chance”.
No racing pigeons or smoke signals
He made it clear to Maye, from Queensway in Dunmurry, that the condition of no contact meant no contact “by any manner or means [including] racing pigeon, social media, smoke signals, nothing”.
The case was adjourned until April 17.
Met police Safer Schools officer jailed over child sexual abuse
PC Hussain Chehab had admitted sexual activity with a girl and offences
linked to indecent images of children

A Metropolitan police Safer Schools officer has been jailed for five years over a string of child sexual abuse offences.
PC Hussain Chehab was sentenced at Wood Green crown court on Friday after admitting four counts of sexual activity with a girl aged 13 to 15 and offences linked to indecent images of children.
The abuse took place between March and September 2019, before Chehab joined the Metropolitan police the following year.
The offences only came to light when the girl’s family reported in July 2021 that their daughter had been in a sexual relationship with Chehab, which it later emerged began when she was 14.
Chehab also admitted three counts of making indecent photographs of a child and one of engaging in sexual communication with a child.
The Met said some of these offences were committed while he was posted at a north London school between May and August 2021.
Sir Mark Rowley apologised to Chehab’s victims when he appeared at the London Assembly police and crime committee in January of this year.
“The sexual contact offences took place before he joined the police but sadly they weren’t known,” the Met commissioner said.
“And then whilst he was in the police he was taking part in what you might broadly describe as grooming activity.
“It is ghastly and obviously you apologise to the victims, they shouldn’t be facing that at the hands of a police officer.”
Or, anyone else, for that matter.
No verdict was recorded for a further four counts of making indecent photographs of a child, which the judge ordered to lie on file.
An accelerated misconduct process would be held in light of the guilty pleas, the Met said.
Gay Paedo guilty of 'horror or depravity', gets parole after 2 years

A former Summerland, B.C. lifeguard guilty of a slew of child sexual abuse material and sexual assault crimes involving children has been granted leave to continue his day parole until his statutory release date.
Known locally as "Eddie Spaghetti," Edward Casavant, 58, was sentenced a little over three years ago for a string of offences, including using a spy camera in the aquatic centre changing room to record underage boys, and filming sexual abuse of an eight-year old boy with autism who was in his care.
Casavant was first granted day parole in September 2022.
According to a Parole Board of Canada decision dated March 10, 2023, Casavant will keep those privileges, based on his behaviour under those day parole terms.
"You spend time with appropriate role models, lean on your case management team for guidance, and take your special conditions seriously. You present as a person accountable and responsible for your behaviours. You are developing healthy relationships with adults through professional supports and contacts in the community," reads the latest board decision.
Special conditions imposed include no contact with children, not to seek or obtain employment or volunteer work where he would be in a position of trust or authority over a person under the age of 16, not to be near children areas, follow psychological counselling, pornography restriction, internet restriction, follow a treatment plan and to have no contact with any of his victims.
The board also voted to impose a residency requirement upon his statutory release, to live at a designated community-based residential facility or psychiatric facility approved by the Correctional Service of Canada.
According to the Government of British Columbia, most federal offenders are automatically released on statutory release after serving two-thirds of their sentence to serve the last one-third of their sentence in the community, regardless of whether they had previously applied for or been granted parole.
Casavant was employed as a lifeguard at the Summerland Aquatic Centre from 1986 to 2018, only quitting once a police investigation began.
A Staples employee transferring files from Casavant's old computer found a folder titled "Fun with Boys" with thumbnails of what looked like child sexual abuse material, and alerted RCMP.
In all, 275 unique downloaded child sexual abuse videos involving infants up to young boys aged 12 years old were found on Casavant’s computers, some of which he filmed himself.
“It is difficult to accurately express the horror or depravity of these offences without viewing the videos,” Judge Monica McParland said in Penticton court during sentencing in 2020.
Why doesn't the sentence match the rhetoric?
Casavant continues to collect his municipal pension. He is not serving his day parole in Summerland, and the location has been protected by a publication ban.
Dorset paedophiles convicted in the past year
All the child sex offence cases DorsetLive has covered in the last year

Over the past year, thousands of people have been convicted in Dorset's criminal courts. The vast majority of these cases are traffic offences, antisocial behaviour, small-scale drug offences or relatively minor violent crime.
These, in turn, lead to mostly community-based sentences; rehabilitation orders, fines, and the like.
But in amongst the speeding drivers and drug dealers are people for whom some of the most hefty punishments are not only given, but well-deserved.
Paedophiles are reviled in both right-thinking society, and within the court system. When they're caught, the full weight of the law is brought down on them.
This is done in, normally, Bournemouth Crown Court in Dorset. And, when justice is being done, the judges, lawyers, and DorsetLive's reporters, have the unenviable task of hearing the details of what acts they did, or material they were found with.
But by the end of an often long, gruelling, and deeply upsetting court hearing, a sentence is given out. And, while not always, the past year has seen some hefty time behind bars given out to paedophiles in Dorset.
As well as jail time or, in some cases, a rehabilitation order, a well-established part of a paedophile's punishment is the naming of them in the press.
So, in honour of that vital function of local journalism, here is a list of all the paedophiles sentenced in Dorset that our site has covered over the past year.

Cheshire paedophile jailed for 17 counts of sex abuse against child, 10

of 17 counts of sexual abuse against a child
A paedophile who subjected his ten-year-old victim to a 'horrifying' five-year ordeal has been jailed after being convicted of 17 counts of sexual abuse.
Glyn Jones, 62, of Bradley Lane, Malpas, appeared at Chester Crown Court today (Friday, March 24) where he was sentenced to 15 years in prison. He had previously been convicted of 17 counts of sexual abuse against a child following two trials held there.
The offences include sexual activity with a child aged 11 to 15, rape of a child under 13 and causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity. Jones has also been ordered to sign the sex offenders register for life.
During the trial the court heard how Jones sexually abused his victim over a sustained period between March 2014 and March 2019, beginning when they were just 10 years old.
Jones first appeared at Chester Crown Court in November 2021, where he was found guilty of six offences relating to the sexual abuse of a child between 2014 and 2019. However, the jury were unable to reach a verdict on a number of additional allegations against him and he was ordered to face a retrial.
He returned to court on February 7 and, following a five-day trial, was found guilty of 11 further offences. The offences include sexual activity with a child aged 11 to 15, rape of a child under 13 and causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.
Following the sentencing, Detective Constable Beth Colbourne, who led the investigation, said: “This case has left the victim and their family distraught, and I hope that the sentence will help bring some closure to then.
"Jones preyed upon a young child for his own sexual gratification and refused to take responsibility for the crimes he committed, making the victim and their family have to relive the horrific experience again through two trials. But thanks to the victim’s courage, he is now facing the consequences of his actions.
"The sentence handed to Jones reflects the severity of his crime and I hope that his conviction will encourage other victims to come forward. As this case demonstrates, we treat all reports of historic sexual offences seriously and we will always do our best to ensure offenders are brought to justice."
Police are urging anyone who has been a victim of sexual abuse, or know of someone who has, to contact them on 101, cheshire.police.uk or anonymously via Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555 111.
Man pleads guilty to abusing girls at Winnipeg daycare

A Winnipeg man has admitted to sexually abusing two young children at a home-based daycare where he lived.
Robert Prince, 37, appeared in court via video Friday and pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual interference, two counts of making child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography.
The charges involve offences committed between March 2017 and early 2022, beginning when the children, both girls, were under eight years old.
Prince came to the attention of police after the discovery of a child sex abuse video he posted to Facebook in April 2021, according to an agreed statement of facts read out in court.
Winnipeg police charged Prince with distributing child pornography in January 2022 and seized his cellphone. A subsequent analysis of the phone uncovered 158 child sex abuse images and five videos, involving girls between the ages of two and 12. Fifteen of the images depicted two girls who attended the daycare, which court was told was operated by Prince’s wife.
Again, I have to warn parents not to put their children in daycares where men, or teen boys, are present
Time stamps on two of the photos confirmed the girls were five and seven at the time they were taken.
In an interview with police last year, one of the victims said Prince abused her on six occasions when they were alone together at the daycare.
The girl said on one occasion she had been sleeping and woke up to Prince “humping” her. On another he made her kiss him in exchange for candy, she said.
Prince said he accepted the facts as provided to court.
The Crown stayed charges of distributing and accessing child pornography.
Prince remains in custody. He will return to court for sentencing at a later date following the completion of court-ordered reports.
