A BRITISH man has been arrested on suspicion of raping a woman in a hotel room in Majorca.
The 26-year-old is said to have resisted arrest and headbutted one of the officers called to the scene in Magaluf.
The alleged rape happened at a hotel in the popular resort of Santa Ponsa.
A friend of the woman said to have suffered the sex attack alerted a receptionist who called the police, around 7pm on Friday.
She told officers the man held had tried to force her into the room after raping her pal.
The victim was transferred to the Son Espases hospital.
It was not immediately clear if the suspect has already appeared in court and whether he has been remanded in custody or released on bail pending an ongoing investigation.
The nationality of the woman allegedly raped has not been revealed.
A British tourist claimed she was raped by another Brit holidaymaker in Punta Ballena in Magaluf last year.
The woman told Spanish cops at the time she passed out in the man's hotel room and woke up later to find him “on top of her”.
And a few weeks earlier a British teenager was reportedly raped on the holiday island of Majorca by two men.

POLICE have arrested two men accused of robbing and sexually assaulting a British tourist in Magaluf.
The pair are said to have ripped the 25-year-old woman’s dress and underwear and stolen her designer watch and jewellery before fleeing the scene as police arrived.

She was taken to hospital for a routine examination before making a statement to the Civil Guard who are now leading the ongoing investigation.
A local paper in Majorca described the incident as a rape and a Civil Guard source said the woman had allegedly been sexually assaulted.
One police officer was left injured when the suspects resisted arrest and is now off work.
The incident happened in the early hours of Friday morning in a street in Magaluf, a short walk from the famous Punta Ballena party strip.
The watch the British woman had on is said to have been worth nearly £2,000.
The men held by police are two Colombians aged 19 and 24 who police suspect belong to a criminal gang operating in Palma and other Majorcan towns including Andratx and Inca.
It was not immediately clear today if a judge remanded them in custody pending an ongoing investigation, or released them on bail following their first court appearance.
Yesterday it emerged that police in Majorca had arrested a 26-year-old British man on suspicion of rape at a hotel in Santa Ponsa near Magaluf.
The hotel name has not yet been reported.
But sources close to the investigation confirmed today the girl allegedly sexually attacked was also British and under the age of 18.
One said: “They were in the same hotel and the man held allegedly raped this girl after forcing her into his room".
A friend of the youngster said to have suffered the sex attack alerted a receptionist who called police, around 7pm on Friday.
The friend told officers the man held had tried to force her into the room after raping her pal.

This couple, from Nottingham, "worked together" to sexually abuse a child and share the footage with other paedophiles online. Christopher Binch, 36, was arrested by the National Crime Agency (NCA) on March 12 last year, after it was identified he had been discussing his sexual interest in children and uploading indecent material to an online child abuse group.

He pleaded guilty to ten charges. These include the sexual assault of a child under 13, the taking, making, possession and distribution of IIOC, possession of extreme pornography and one count of possession of cocaine.
Appearing at Leicester Crown Court for sentencing on Tuesday, February 28, Binch was sentenced to eight years and one month in prison, placed on the sex offenders' register for life, and handed an indefinite sexual harm prevention order.
Binch’s partner, Lindsay Mobey, aged 34, pleaded guilty to the sexual assault of a child under 13, and was jailed for two years and one month, and will be on the sex offenders' register for five years. Read the full story here
