Gender transitions ‘smell of apocalypse’

The acceptance of gender reassignment surgeries in the West “smells of apocalypse,” the head of the Russian Orthodox Church said in a televised interview on Tuesday.
Patriarch Kirill criticized the trend as a sign of moral decay in the West and reaffirmed Russia’s commitment to preserving its own spiritual traditions.
In the interview, aired on Orthodox Christian Christmas, he contrasted what he called the moral decline of the West with the strength of Russia’s spiritual traditions.
“What is happening there smells of apocalypse,” he said, referring to the normalization of gender transitions in Western nations. He emphasized that such practices were “against God’s law” and would never be accepted in Russia as long as its people remain faithful to their millennia-old cultural and spiritual heritage.
Kirill highlighted Russia’s growing prominence as a spiritual counterweight to the West. “They are astonished that we are building churches – 400 in Moscow alone,” he stated. He contrasted this with the situation in the West, where churches are being repurposed, “in the best case into mosques, and in the worst case into entertainment venues.”
In November, Russia banned the adoption of children to countries that permit gender-reassignment procedures. A decree signed by President Vladimir Putin prohibits individuals from these countries – whether they allow gender changes through medical interventions such as surgery and puberty blockers or through simple changes to identity documents without medical involvement – from adopting Russian children.
Vyacheslav Volodin, the speaker of the lower chamber of Russia’s parliament, defended the move, calling it a necessary step to shield children from “destructive” Western influences. He specifically criticized policies in some Western nations that allow minors to undergo gender reassignment, describing these practices as harmful to children’s well-being.
This decision came after Russia introduced harsh restrictions on gender reassignment procedures in 2023. The legislation, aimed at curbing what lawmakers branded the “transgender industry,” banned legal and medical gender transitions except in serious medical cases, such as those involving birth abnormalities.

Court rules that firing high school teacher for nude photos online was unjustified
The decision to fire a high school teacher for posting naked photos online was unjustified. According to the Court of Appeal in The Hague, the photos were a part of art and not pornography, and, therefore, the protestant-Christian school violated the man’s freedom of expression. The teacher will not get his job back, but he will receive 10,000 euros in severance pay. It has not been reported which school this pertained to.
The teacher started his job at the school in August 2023. He taught children from the age of 12 to 15. During his job interview, the man said that he also worked as an artist and photographer, but he did not state that he posed naked and that these images were online.
Apparently, nobody asked. I suspect they will be more thorough in their questioning after this.
Students eventually discovered these images and shared them with each other. The man then decided to discuss this with the students. He showed a short film to a first-year class showing the man and his partner undressed.
The school decided to suspend the man and went to the subdistrict court to have him dismissed. The sub-district court sided with the school on this issue. According to the court, it was not pornographic, and also did not blame the man for discussing the existence of the photos with the children.
Apparently, the Court of Appeal does not know that 99% of 12-15-year-olds see nudity as pornography, not art.
The court also stated that the video he showed was not as bad as the images that the students had already seen. Despite this, the mutual trust had been irreparably damaged.
The Court of Appeal disagrees with this. They feel the teacher should not have shown the children the nude video, but the school should not have suspended him instantly. This is why he will be awarded a fee of 10,000 euros.
The man does not work in the education sector anymore, he now works as a social worker.
