Woman sentenced to life in prison for child sex abuse
WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) — The second of two defendants charged following an investigation of reported child sex abuse has been sentenced to a lifetime behind bars.
Shawna Mayfield was back in a Trumbull County courtroom Wednesday afternoon, where she was sentenced to 30 years to life in prison with credit for time served. Mayfield will also be classified as a Tier III sex offender.
“I find that the victims have suffered serious psychological harm at your hands,” said Judge Cynthia Westcott Rice during sentencing. “You used your relationship with the victims to facilitate this offense.”
Mayfield previously pleaded guilty to five counts of pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor, eight counts of rape, one count of sexual conduct with an animal, and endangering children.
“I admit my wrongdoings,” Mayfield told the court. “There’s nothing I can do to change that. But this is not who I am.”
Shawna’s co-defendant and husband, Justin Mayfield, has already been sentenced to 40-years to life in the case. He pleaded guilty to seven counts of rape and one count of disseminating matter harmful to juveniles.
School district superintendent arrested on child sexual abuse material charges, police say

LEWIS COUNTY Wash. (KPTV/Gray News) - A school district superintendent was arrested on child sexual abuse charges.
Investigators in Washington state said they received reports from an electronic service provider identifying accounts suspected of uploading and sharing illegal images of minors.
Police obtained search warrants and arrested 52-year-old Greggery Teel, superintendent of the White Pass School District.
Teel is facing charges of possession of and online distribution of child sexual abuse material.
Authorities said there was no evidence that students in the school district were involved.
