More families file lawsuits after Brownsburg daycare abuse cover-up
Weeks after the one-time owner of a Brownsburg daycare was sentenced to prison for a child abuse cover-up, four families have filed lawsuits on behalf of their young children.
"These families are entitled to more than criminal convictions. They deserve answers, accountability from every responsible party and the resources necessary to help their children heal," attorney Catherine Michael said in a news release.
In the complaints, filed in Hendricks Superior Court on May 20, the families are seeking compensation on behalf of four victims identified during a multi-agency investigation into the daycare, Main Street University 4 Kidz. The business and the three former employees who were criminally charged are all named as defendants.
State officials closed the daycare on May 8, 2025, two days after one of its employees, Gabriel Garner, was arrested on allegations of child sexual abuse. Owner Nancy Minton and director Jennyfer Lingbeck were also charged after investigators said the two knew about allegations against Garner for more than a year but failed to notify authorities as required by state law.

The May 20 lawsuits allege more than a dozen misdeeds including negligence, fraud and intentional infliction of emotional distress. The lawsuits, which are identical except for descriptions of each child's specific injuries, argue that the business and its administrators enabled a sustained pattern of abuse.
"While defendants Minton and Lingbeck were privately suppressing reports of abuse, they were publicly continuing to hold Main Street University 4Kidz out as a safe and trustworthy preschool," the May 20 lawsuits read in part. "They continued to greet children at drop-off and to assure parents at pick-up that their children were safe."
The new filings mark the second round of litigation filed in connection with the abuse allegations. In December 2025, the parents of a young girl sued Minton and Lingbeck, arguing that they were partially responsible for the repeated sexual abuse of their daughter. Garner was not named as a defendant in that lawsuit, which has not yet been resolved.
On April 30, Minton was sentenced to two years in prison after pleading guilty to neglect of a dependent and failure to make a report. The criminal charges against Lingbeck and Garner remain pending.
