East Naples sex offender arrested on child sexual abuse material charges, probation violation
A cybertip from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children led to the arrest of a sex offender in Collier County on more than a dozen child sexual abuse material charges.
According to the Collier County Sheriff's Office, the investigation focused on the child sexual abuse material through the messaging platform Kik, and detectives determined the activity was happening at a residence at 2800 Bayview Drive.
CCSO said Trent James Mansberger, 26, a sex offender who is currently on probation with the Florida Department of Corrections, was arrested after deputies executed a search warrant at the residence on Wednesday.
Mansberger was released from prison on Jan. 18 after serving a six-year sentence for lewd and lascivious battery on a minor following a CCSO investigation.
The sheriff's office said the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force helped CCSO Inter-agency Child Exploitation and Persons Trafficking (INTERCEPT) Task Force detectives with the investigation.
Man receives 44-year sentence for sexual exploitation of child in his care
DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – A 44-year-old Indiana man will spend the next forty-four years in federal prison and pay his victim $10k after pleading guilty to sexual exploitation of a child, possession of child sexual abuse material, and committing a felony offense while required to register as a sex offender.
The man, Keynan Santos, from Anderson, IN, was convicted back in 2015 for two felony counts of Child Molesting. He was sentenced to eight years in the Indiana Department of Correction and has been required to register as a sex offender for life.
Per the court documents, Santos lived in Anderson with Minor Victim 1 (M.V. 1) between November and December 2024. M.V. 1 was under his care and custody and under twelve years old at the time.
How did a convicted child molester get custody of an under 12 y/o girl? There needs to be an inquiry here.
While in Santos’ care, he sexually abused (recorded the abuse) and exploited M.V. 1. He also persuaded her to create and send additional sexually explicit images.
“No child should ever fear the person entrusted with their safety. The defendant’s exploitation of a child in his care is a heartbreaking betrayal of the trust every child deserves at home,” said United States Attorney for the Southern District of Indiana, Tom Wheeler. “The horrific abuse inflicted on this young victim is unconscionable, and our office will continue to work tirelessly with our law enforcement partners to protect children, hold offenders fully accountable, and bring justice to survivors.”
The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children alerted the Hamilton County Metro ICAC Task Force after Google flagged Santos’ account for child sexual abuse material. His laptop and cell phone were searched by investigators, who found over 600 images of child sexual abuse material across his devices.
“There is no safe harbor for those who prey on children,” said Homeland Security Investigations Chicago Special Agent in Charge Matthew Scarpino. “This sentence reflects the gravity of the defendant’s crimes: those who abuse children, produce child sexual abuse material, or use the internet to continue their crimes will be found, arrested, and held accountable. HSI is proud to stand with our federal, state, and local partners in protecting victims and bringing offenders to justice.”
The Hamilton County Metro ICAC Task Force was assisted by Homeland Security Investigations in this case. The sentence was imposed by U.S. District Judge Justin R. Olson. The U.S. Attorney Wheeler thanked Assistant U.S. Attorney Kyle M. Sawa, who prosecuted this case.
Officials said this case is part of Project Safe Childhood, which combats child sexual exploitation and abuse.

Former school employee accused of sexually abusing children found dead in Lawrence

A man accused of sexually abusing at least seven children while working at an elementary school was found dead at his Lawrence home Thursday morning, police confirmed. Officers with the Lawrence Police Department responded just before 7:30 a.m. to a residence located in the 600 block of Greever Terrace, where they found Mark Elliot Gridley dead in the garage, according to Laura McCabe, a police spokesperson.
McCabe said there was no obvious evidence of foul play at the scene and that a death investigation was underway. The cause of death was not available Thursday and will be determined later by a medical examiner, McCabe said. Gridley was awaiting trial for seven counts of aggravated indecent liberties with a child, or alternatively, seven counts of battery, Douglas County court records show.
