Huddersfield grooming gang member given more jail time for child sex abuse

A member of a Huddersfield grooming gang was handed more jail time today for the sexual abuse of a child.

Asif Bashir, 35, from Huddersfield, was already serving an 11-year sentence for rape and attempted rape, having been sentenced in November 2018 as part of Operation Tendersea.

He will now serve a further four years for two offences of sexual touching of a child under 16, and two offences of inciting sexual activity with a child under 16.

Bashir abused his young victim between 2005 and 2007 in the Huddersfield area.

He was caught as part of West Yorkshire Police's Operation Tendersea, which a long-running investigation into non-recent child sexual abuse in Kirklees.

Bashir is the 35th suspect to be sentenced as part of the operation, which has focused on investigating and jailing men responsible for sexually abusing young girls in Huddersfield between 1995 and 2011.

Suspects have so far been sentenced to a combined total of 393 years in prison as part of Operation Tendersea.

Bashir was sentenced today at Leeds Crown Court and will serve the additional four years consecutive to his original 11-year sentence.

Detective Chief Inspector Tanya Wilkins said: "This latest sentencing represents another step forwards in securing justice for victims of non-recent child sexual offending in Kirklees.

"Both the police and CPS always maintained Bashir was fully aware of the defendant’s young age when he committed these offences against her, and the jury clearly felt this to be the case in returning guilty verdicts for the four offences he was tried for."

SAINTES, FRANCE (AFP) - A retired French surgeon has been sentenced to 15 years in jail at the end of his closed-door trial for the rape and sexual abuse of four children in the first part of France's biggest ever paedophilia case.

Joel Le Scouarnec, 70, remained impassive as the verdict was read out on Thursday (Dec 3) at the court in Saintes, western France, keeping his arms crossed without a glance at his victims, who embraced one another, overcome with emotion.

Le Scouarnec, who could have faced 20 years behind bars after being found guilty on all charges, will also be subject to a three-year supervision order at the end of his sentence. He has 10 days to appeal.

Judge Isabelle Fachaux said that despite a 2005 conviction for viewing child pornography, Le Scouarnec had continued to offend, making a lengthy jail term necessary.

"We are really satisfied... it's a fair sentence," said Ms Francesca Satta, the lawyer for one of the victims, who reported Le Scouarnec in 2017.

In his final words to the court, Le Scouarnec said he did not expect leniency, according to lawyers present at the trial, which was held behind closed doors at the victims' request.

"I do not ask for forgiveness or compassion... only the right to become a better man again," he was quoted as saying.

"He explained that he had a lot of regrets... without necessarily asking for an apology. He knows that what he did is unforgivable," his lawyer Thibaut Kurzawa said.

The once-respected doctor and father of three sons now faces a possible second trial involving hundreds of cases of sexual assault or rape.

Le Scouarnec was charged in 2017 after testimony from one of his victims, his neighbour's six-year-old daughter.

The investigation quickly uncovered three others - two of his nieces, raped between 1989 and 1999, and a hospital patient who was only four in 1993.

Prosecutors say searches of Le Scouarnec's home uncovered archives detailing sexual assaults or rapes of as many as 312 victims, both adults and children, starting in 1986 while he worked at hospitals in central and western France.

Police found more than 300,000 indecent images of minors, including pictures of his two nieces.

Le Scouarnec admitted assaulting the four children but initially denied the rape charges.

During the trial, which started on Monday, Le Scouarnec admitted having raped his nieces, now aged 35 and 30. His admission "did them a lot of good", according to their lawyer Delphine Driguez.

‘I got let down’: A 22-year-old has told the New Plymouth District Court how her childhood sexual abuse will be with her forever.

A young girl who was sexually abused by her Oranga Tamariki caregiver detailed how traumatising it was to be placed back in the man’s care after reporting his initial offending to police.

Oranga Tamariki, also known as the Ministry for Children and previously the Ministry for Vulnerable Children, is a government department in New Zealand responsible for the well-being of children, specifically children at risk of harm, youth offenders and children of the State. It has a billion dollar budget.

The now-22-year-old woman’s victim impact statement was read out to the New Plymouth District Court on Friday by Crown prosecutor Justin Marinovich.

“It is really hard to put into words how much of an effect this can have on a person, particularly when they are young and are expecting adults to look after them,” her statement said. “It’s not something that is just going to go from me and I’m going to live happily ever after – it will be in my life forever.”

The woman was one of two victims the Taranaki man, who has permanent name suppression, sexually assaulted during a three-year period. He previously pleaded guilty to 13 sexual offences and appeared for sentencing before Judge Gregory Hikaka.

Her victim impact statement and police summary of facts detailed how it had been an “incredibly long process” since the offending began in 2008, when she was placed in the offender’s care through Oranga Tamariki.

“I was a young girl and this shouldn't have been allowed to happen. That was the one thing that was really hard for me.”

In May 2011 she reported the offending to police who launched an investigation. At the time, the man denied any involvement and the victim was then persuaded, by an undisclosed person, to withdraw her statement.

“One of the things that impacted me the most was when I was essentially convinced I should retract my statement,” she said. “The pressure that came on me was so unfair, I was only 11 or 12 then.”

She felt like no-one believed her and just thought she was a “silly child making up stories”. "I wasn’t and I got let down.”

She was returned to the man's care a month later. “It was like they were giving him the OK to continue offending against me,” she said. “No one would believe me after all this, and that’s when I started having real issues in my life.”

Her statement detailed how she has flashbacks, has developed a number of trust issues in relationships and sometimes struggles to be in public.

The second victim, who was known to the man, was sexually assaulted twice between 2009-2010. While comforting her after the loss of her father the man instead took advantaged and sexually assaulted her.

Judge Hikaka outlined how the offender was trusted and, as an Oranga Tamariki caregiver, was supposed to look after the vulnerable and offer “nurturing and loving care”. “That was abused.”

Hikaka said the offending involved a “multilayered abuse of trust”.

He gave the man credit for his early guilty pleas and high level of remorse.

Hikaka sentenced the man to six-and-a-half years' imprisonment.

His name is also on the child sex offender register.

Prominent Psychologist, Scout Leader sentenced to four years in prison

for historic child sex offences in Sydney

Robert Bruce Montgomery, 76, who was once a prominent psychologist, has been sentenced to four years in prison over child sex offences committed in the 1960s.

Montgomery was a Scout Leader in Edgecliff in Sydney's eastern suburbs when he abused three boys over a number of years.

In 1965 he was made to resign from the organisation after it was made aware of his offending but no formal legal action was taken.

In 1966 as a teacher at a Marrickville High School he sexually assaulted a fourth boy.

He later had a prominent career as a psychologist and was president of the Australian Psychological Society from 2009 to 2011.

This is the kind of person promoted to powerful, prominent positions in the field of psychology.

In 2018 Montgomery was extradited from Queensland and charged after his victims reported the abuse. He will be eligible for parole in 12 months.

His victims, who are now adults, cried and hugged one another in court after the sentencing. Montgomery was supported in court by his wife. He handed her his wedding ring prior to the sentencing in anticipation of his incarceration.

The court heard Montgomery had a distinguished career which included working with reality television show Big Brother and preparing reports for Family Court matters. His role for the Family Court included assessing the credibility of child sex abuse allegations in custody disputes.

In sentencing, Judge Paul Conlon said through Montgomery's study of psychology he would have developed a strong understanding of the suffering of his victims.

Judge Conlon said in regard to length of the sentence consideration had been given to the fact Montgomery had several health issues including moderate to severe dementia. An expert medical opinion given to the court estimated he would live another 3.75 years.

Seems the judge had mercy, on the prison system!

'Justice has found its mark'

Outside court one of Montgomery's victims said he agreed with the reasons given by the judge. The man said it had been a harrowing several years since the Royal Commission into Institutional Child Sexual Abuse had given him the confidence to come forward.

"Justice has found its mark and accountability, its rightful place," he said.

The victim impact statement that man read to the court detailed decades of instability in his life which he attributed to Montgomery sexually assaulting him at age 12.

"I have developed an acute awareness of how the abuse has had such a devastating impact and effect on my entire life thus far," he said.

"It became clear to me just how the abuse actually has been responsible for so many failings and shortfalls, trials and tribulations, bad choices, paranoia, heartache and mental anguish for myself.

"And just what those people close to me have had to endure because of it."

“As cases of sexual abuse with which the courts have to deal, this case comes top of the scale,” said Geoffrey Marson qc as he passed sentence on October 19th. Yet the crimes in the northern English town of Huddersfield for which 20 men were convicted followed a pattern that is now all too familiar.

Between 2004 and 2011 the men raped and abused at least 15 girls, some as young as 11, often at parties where they were subdued with drugs and alcohol. All of the abusers were Asian, primarily of Pakistani origin. 

Their victims were vulnerable, mostly white girls, some from care homes. One had the mental capacity of a seven-year-old. Each was first “groomed” by a man who gained her affection with gifts and attention. Threats then kept them in the cycle of abuse that followed.

In the past seven years, similar child-grooming gangs of mostly Asian men have been jailed in more than a dozen towns in England. Some of the crimes date as far back as 1999. “These sick Asian paedophiles are finally facing justice,” tweeted the home secretary, Sajid Javid—himself of Pakistani descent—when the latest verdicts were announced. His comment drew a mixture of condemnation for its racial charge and praise for saying what politicians and officials have sometimes considered unsayable.

From what I can gather, Javid is not a devout Muslim. Therein lies the difference as I believe Mohammed's permission in the Quran to do whatever you like with a girl who is 'in your power', is the excuse they use to justify their evil abuse of little, white, British girls. Even after conviction and sentencing, they fail to see that they have done anything wrong.

A large majority of those who sexually abuse children in Britain are white men. But there is some evidence that Asians are over-represented among the offenders. In an analysis of patchy police records from 2014-15, about 60% of child-sex offenders were white and 12% were Asian (20% were of unknown ethnicity). Of the population at large, whites made up 86% and Asians 7.5% at the most recent census, in 2011.

Asian men seem to be particularly over-represented in some forms of group-based sexual abuse. According to a study in 2011 by the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre, a police agency, nearly a third of those suspected of abusing children outside a family, professional or online setting operated in groups. Most such groups were of a single ethnicity, the most common being Asian. When all suspects in such cases, including solo offenders, were considered, 30% were white and 28% Asian (the ethnicity of 38% was unknown).

Nazir Afzal, a former chief prosecutor for the north-west of England, says white offenders who operate in groups tend to carry out abuse alone, sharing their victims’ details with other members of their circle. By contrast Asian group-abusers are more likely to socialise and commit abuse together, which makes them more visible.

The details that emerged from Huddersfield were, as in past cases, damning of the authorities. The parents of one of the girls said their plea for help was ignored because their daughter refused to file a complaint, which is common among victims controlled by their abusers. Ten years ago, says Rick Muir of the Police Foundation, a think-tank, the police focused on visible crimes such as burglaries or rowdy behaviour. What took place behind closed doors was more likely to be viewed as a matter of personal choice. Child-sex investigations focused on abuse at home. The term “child prostitute”, which implies choice and consent, was official.

Some of these mistakes have since been corrected, which is partly why old crimes are being unearthed. Police forces now have specialised units for child-sex crimes, which work with social workers, teachers and doctors to identify children at risk. But for the victims in Huddersfield, and the other places where similar trials are likely to follow, this is all too late.

Huddersfield has a higher than average number of residents from ethnic minorities. The white population makes up 81% of the population comparing to 91.3% for England as a whole (2001). The largest ethnic minority group are those who have described themselves as being Asian or British Asian originating from the Indian sub-continent (India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka) with 10,837, or 8.9% (compared to 1.4% for England as a whole). Twenty members of a “vile and wicked” grooming gang have been convicted of trafficking, drugging and raping vulnerable girls in a harrowing campaign of abuse across West Yorkshire.

It can now be reported that the ringleader of the group, 35-year-old Amere Singh Dhaliwal, was jailed for life to serve a minimum of 18 years after being found guilty of 54 offences, including countless rapes of children.

Judge Geoffrey Marson QC said the crimes against 15 girls far exceeded anything he had previously seen. The gang’s “persistent and prolonged” offending, he said, was “at the top of the scale” of severity.

Details of the case, believed to be Britain’s single biggest grooming prosecution, can be disclosed after a judge agreed to lift reporting restrictions on Friday, following a legal challenge by media groups including the Guardian. One of the trials had previously almost collapsed when the anti-Islam activist Tommy Robinson filmed defendants in a live Facebook video outside Leeds crown court.

Jurors in the three trials heard how the men, mostly from Huddersfield, plied girls as young as 11 with alcohol and drugs before sexually abusing them in car parks, hotels, takeaways, snooker halls, on moors and by reservoirs across the region.

Fifteen severely vulnerable girls fell victim to the gang between 2004 and 2011. One girl, aged 11 or 12 at the time, was abducted from a care home and supplied ecstasy before being made to perform sex acts, Leeds crown court heard.

Many of the victims described how they were plied with drink and drugs at house parties then raped “one by one” by the men, who used plastic bags as condoms.

Dhaliwal was at the heart of the group, who referred to each other using nicknames including “Dracula,” “Beastie” and “Chiller” in monikers that were used in the three trials.

The court heard the married father-of-two committed countless rapes, incited child prostitution, trafficked girls across the region and filmed their abuse on his mobile phone.

His treatment of the girls was “inhuman,” the judge said, including one occasion when he sexually abused a girl with a drinks bottle during a truth or dare game. At another time, an intoxicated 15-year-old girl was raped by a man in a “dare” by Dhaliwal, while others watched. It was “degrading and wicked,” the judge said.

The girls were deliberately targeted for their vulnerabilities. All had troubled home lives, including one whose mother was unable to care for her due to drink and drug addictions.

Two of the girls had mild learning disabilities. At least one girl attempted suicide and another had an abortion, jurors heard. One of the girls was thrown out of a moving car outside her home. She had bruises all over her face and was under the influence of alcohol and drugs.

They were made to feel special by flattery, going to parties, having rides in cars and given presents, the judge said. Many thought the men were showing them genuine affection.

“What in fact was happening was that a relationship of trust was created,” the judge said, albeit that it was “entirely false and had been deliberately created to enable predatory men to perpetrate gross sexual abuse for your own perverted gratification”.

In sentencing, Marson said the victims and their families remained “profoundly affected” by their ordeal and that it was “likely that many, if not all, of these girls will never recover from the abuse they suffered”.

“I have read the victims’ personal statements; they make harrowing reading. The way you treated these girls defies understanding; this abuse was vile and wicked,” the judge said.

“As cases of sexual abuse with which the courts have to deal, this case comes at the top of the scale. None of you has expressed any remorse for what you did.”

He added: “Amongst the aggravating factors are that these girls were young when the abuse started, they were targeted because of their extreme vulnerability. They were threatened and intimidated and plied with drink and drugs often to insensibility and often in order to facilitate sexual abuse. These were planned offences by a large group of Asian men.”

Reporting restrictions, which were imposed in November 2017, were partially lifted on Friday to allow the media to report some details from the three trials.

Robinson’s Facebook video, which was viewed hundreds of thousands of times, led to the EDL founder being jailed for contempt of court in a ruling that was later quashed. He will be retried by a judge at the Old Bailey in a fresh hearing on Tuesday.

DCI Ian Mottershaw, from West Yorkshire police, paid tribute to the victims for their courage and tenacity. Speaking outside court, he said the “depraved individuals” had subjected young children to “unthinkable sexual and physical abuse” and he urged other victims of child sexual exploitation to come forward.

Home secretary criticised for noting the ethnicity of the grooming gang in Huddersfield

The home secretary, Sajid Javid, has been rebuked by MPs and human rights campaigners for tweeting about “Asian paedophiles”.

Javid highlighted the case of a grooming gang in Huddersfield that raped and abused girls as young as 11. The group of men were found guilty on Friday of more than 120 offences against 15 girls.

The tweet was quickly condemned for noting the perpetrators’ ethnicity. The Labour MP David Lammy said: “Sajid Javid has brought a great office of state into disrepute. By singling out ‘Asians’ he not only panders to the far right but increases the risk of violence and abuse against minorities across the country.

“Whatever the underlying motives of the offenders involved, paedophilia is an abhorrent crime that affects all communities. It does no service to the victims of this evil to pin the blame on any one group.”

Nor does it do an service to hide the reality of the problem. You are trying to hide the enormous issue of Asian, read Pakistani, read Muslim men grooming little girls for horrific abuse, among the general field of child sex abuse. 

The culture of grooming little British girls

is almost exclusively Pakistani and Muslim

Ignoring this fact will do nothing to address the problem. Why is it you do not want to address this problem? Is it because you know that they believe they have the right to sexually abuse any girl, of any age, who is in their power, their control? They believe it, even now. Mohammed gave them the authority in the Quran. 

Javid was being gentle by using the term 'Asian', which is exactly the term the judge used. He used it because the leader of the gang, Dhaliwal, is of Indian origin. Whether he is Hindu or Muslim is unknown and no-one in mainstream media has any desire to find out.

Indian model found killed and dumped in travel bag in Mumbai after ‘refusing to have sex’

A 20-year-old model whose body was found bundled up in a bag near a bush in the Indian city of Mumbai was allegedly killed after refusing to have sex, police say.

Mansi Dixit had returned from her native town in the northern Indian state of Rajasthan on Sunday before her life was brought to a violent end.

A few days earlier, her alleged killer, Muzzammil Syed, 19, arrived in India’s financial capital from his hometown of Hyderabad in India’s southern state of Telangana.

The two are suspected of having met on a dating app, and saw each other for the first time the following day, local news site the Hindustan Times reports.

However, things took a drastic turn when Dixit went to the man’s house and refused to have sex with him.

What followed was a series of harrowing events.

Syed “got enraged and hit her on the head with a stool,” a police source said, speaking on condition of anonymity.

The suspect said in his police confession that he got scared after Dixit lost consciousness, and that he had tried to resuscitate her by sprinkling water on her.

The woman reportedly seemed to be regaining consciousness but then Syed entered a state of paranoia as he feared his mother was returning home.

That sounds a little suspicious. Panic is not paranoia. 

Indian men appear to think that women do not have the right to refuse to have sex with them. So far, in 5 years of blogging, I have seen nothing in India that appears to be addressing this issue.

He therefore allegedly strangled her with a rope and called a cab to dispose of her body, the paper reports.

The body was found thanks to the cab driver, who grew suspicious when he helped Syed put the bag containing the young girl’s body in the trunk of the car.

He waited to see what Syed’s next move would be and, when he saw him dumping the bag, he called the police.

Using CCTV footage, the police tracked down the man within four hours, finding him at his flat, where he was trying to “destroy evidence,” according to the Times of India.

takes the stand

A MAN accused of a string of historic child sex abuse charges told jurors he never carried out any sex assault and was out of the country for much of the time.

  

Rachid El-Barhdadi, of Bagley Close, Kennington denies six counts alleging indecent and sexual assault against one child – who is now a woman, and who cannot be named for legal reasons.

Prosecutors at Oxford Crown Court allege that the 53-year old abused the child, performing sex acts on her numerous times in the early 2000s.

As his trial continued yesterday he took to the witness box to deny the incidents ever took place.

He told jurors: “Absolutely not. What can I say, I never once went into [the room the alleged victim was in]. I never bought that stuff [lubricant he is alleged to have used], I get embarrassed even to buy a condom.”

El-Barhdadi also said that he was out of the country frequently around the period of the allegations. He said: “At the time I remember I have seen [the alleged victim] maybe two or three times but for the rest […] I went to Morocco that time because we had things to do.”

He explained that his parents, who were at the time elderly and living in Morocco where he grew up, were in poor health and in need of support.

Asked how the allegations coming to light made him feel he said: “It’s not an allegation you could ever want to hear, that is a serious matter. I felt bad, very upset.”

A repeat child sex offender has avoided an open-ended jail term for indecently touching an 8-year-old girl.

Dominic Jabez Lochore, 29, was instead sentenced to two years and six months' jail. 

The Crown had asked for him to be sentenced to preventive detention, an open-ended prison sentence, for reasons including that three of Lochore's former partners said he had talked of having sexual fantasies involving young children.

But at the High Court in Wellington on Wednesday Justice Jill Mallon said the pattern of Lochore's offending did not point strongly in favour of preventive detention.

In 2007, when Lochore was in his late teens, his mother had caught him sexually abusing a boy, police were told, and Lochore was sentenced to one year and nine months' jail.

In August 2016, in Wellington, Lochore knew a man with an 8-year-old daughter. Twice on the same day he indecently touched the girl while she was staying with her father.

Lochore pleaded guilty to doing an indecent act on a child and on Wednesday he was sentenced to two years and six months' jail. He has to serve at least one year and eight months before he can be considered for parole. The sentence is on top of an eight-month term imposed recently on unrelated charges.

The judge recommended the Department of Corrections ask for an extended supervision order to oversee Lochore after his release. His name will also go on a register of child sex offenders.

Lochore denied the extent of his fantasies of abusing children, but the judge said it was a dispute she did not have to resolve since it seemed his denial was about how often he had the fantasies and that he had said he wanted a daughter to sexually abuse.

That evidence was alarming but in the end it would not have tipped the balance in favour of preventive detention, the judge said.

Crown prosecutor Grant Burston said Lochore was considered a risk for future offending because it seemed he had no difficulty forming relationships with females and that could include women with children.

But the judge said Lochore's offending was limited. He had attention deficit hyperactivity disorder but was not being treated for it, in part because he abused drugs of the same general type that would be prescribed for ADHD. Speaking from the dock, Lochore told the judge that he would try other treatment options.

Preventive detention would have been premature and disproportionate at this stage given the potential for reducing Lochore's risk of reoffending, the judge said.

He had previously been treated for sexual offending, and counselled, but treating his ADHD could also improve his response to treatment, a doctor had suggested.

Mexican police arrest kindergarten employee

MEXICO CITY, (Xinhua) — Police arrested an employee of a public kindergarten in Mexico City after accusations from some 20 parents that he sexually abused their children, the Office of the Attorney General said Friday.

The employee, who authorities said worked in educational support at the school, was detained in Ecatepec, a suburban municipality in the State of Mexico.

He was arrested after a judge issued an order of apprehension for pedophilia.

Parents of children attending the Marcelino de Champagnat school went public on Tuesday, blocking several streets in protest in the western part of the city to get the attention of the authorities.

During the protest, the parents said they had information that the employee had committed acts against 37 boys and girls. Authorities, however, have not confirmed that number.

The employee was suspended from his job as soon as the first complaint was made by a parent on Oct. 8, according to authorities.

Paul Wilcox, 44, of Tempest Drive, Chepstow, had five category A movies, classed as featuring the most serious examples of child sexual abuse.

Prosecutor Gareth James told Newport Crown Court the defendant also had five category B films and 283 category C images which included movies and pictures.

Wilcox admitted three counts of possessing indecent images of children, the offences being committed on June 4 this year.

I don't think he downloaded almost 300 videos and pictures on one day!

Judge Daniel Williams sentenced Wilcox to a two-year community order.

A former Greater Manchester police detective who resigned over the force’s handling of the Rochdale child sexual abuse scandal has claimed that offenders identified in the original investigation are still free to abuse young girls in the town.

Speaking before the airing of a new BBC1 drama, Three Girls – which tells the story of three victims in the 2012 Rochdale sex grooming case – Margaret Oliver said police had still not learned lessons and called for the law to be changed so that senior officers could be prosecuted for negligence.

Oliver, who is played by Lesley Sharp in the three-part series, said she was still in touch with many of the victims. “I’m speaking to kids who are telling me that even to this day they are seeing offenders that they’ve named, walking around Rochdale,” she said. “Somebody saw one in London, another person told me that one has moved around the corner from her.

“That’s why I’m saying things haven’t changed, because those men have been named by those girls [to the police ...] and I know that they’re still out there walking around.”

In 2012, nine Asian men from Rochdale and Oldham were found guilty of offences including rape and conspiracy to engage in sexual activity with a child. The court heard that between 2005 and 2008 the group gave the five victims, who were as young as 13, drink and drugs and “passed them around” for sex.

Oliver resigned from the police after 15 years in October 2012. She worked on Operation Span, which investigated reports of grooming in Rochdale, for about seven months, before deciding to leave. Her main concern was that allegations of rape and sexual abuse were not being recorded by police.

“I tried with every ounce of my determination to highlight to the chief constable and all the agencies – the IPCC, the children’s commissioner, the Home Office select committee – what was going on, but without success. No one really wanted to hear what I was saying and eventually I was left with a stark choice,” she said.

“There were so many big holes in what was going on ... I had never seen a job being run this way before. There were lots of things that were just not right. They wanted to do a quick job with a quick result.

“Children had spent months giving evidence in video interviews, disclosing men who had abused them and places where the abuse had happened, but those allegations were not being officially recorded and to this day have still not been recorded.”

Also starring Maxine Peake as sexual health worker Sara Rowbotham, who spent years trying to get authorities to take the grooming seriously, the first episode of Three Girls will air on Tuesday night.

Speaking last week, the drama’s writer, Nicole Taylor, said she felt confident that the work would not give far-right groups the opportunity to further their agenda, adding that extremists would “hitch their wagon opportunistically to anything”.

So, is she saying that the fact that all the perpetrators were Pakistani is irrelevant and to point it out is racist? Is it also irrelevant that it was Pakistanis in Rotherham who raped and trafficked 1400 girls? Or that 25 of 26 perpetrators in Huddersfield are Pakistani? Or the dozen Pakistani rapists of a 13 y/o in Keighley, West Yorkshire? 

Can you not see a pattern here, Ms Taylor? It seems obvious that you haven't really got to the bottom of this issue - the way Pakistani (read fundamentalist Muslim) men view non-Muslim girls, and girls in general, and where that attitude comes from. It's a pity if you wrote such an important series as Three Girls and you completely missed these points.

There is a longstanding legal principle that the police cannot be sued for negligence because they have a unique position in public service and the public interest lies in protecting them from such claims. “If the police were accountable then perhaps we would see proper changes,” says Oliver.

“But they’re not and I feel that they’re more interested in covering up for the organisation and the establishment than they are in carrying out the first duty of a police officer, which is to protect the vulnerable.”

A report by Greater Manchester police in 2015 looked at the conduct of 13 officers between 2008 and 2010, and served notices of misconduct on seven. One officer, an inspector, was found to have warranted disciplinary action, but retired before he could be sanctioned. The force then issued a statement apologising to the victims and acknowledging that “mistakes were made and victims let down”.

Assistant Chief Constable Rob Potts said tackling the sexual exploitation of children and young people was an absolute priority for Greater Manchester police and its partners. “Protecting children is everyone’s responsibility and it is crucial that we work together to identify and prosecute individuals who prey on vulnerable children,” he said.

“Our specialist CSE [child sexual exploitation] teams in each division across Greater Manchester are successfully reaching out to young people. We have specially trained officers who provide young people with ongoing support, both from within the force and through key partner agencies ... We have made huge progress in our fight against CSE and those who commit these horrendous crimes against children.” 

He added: “This increase in public awareness, as well as enhanced police officer understanding and more accurate recording of CSE reports, resulted in a significant rise in the number of CSE incidents reported to police. I want to reassure communities that our priority is to protect children and young people, prosecute offenders and prevent [them] from committing further offences.”

Defendants charged as a result of police’s Operation Tendersea will be in court again today.

Some 29 people, most of whom are from Huddersfield, have been charged with dozens of child sex abuse charges in the case. Out of the 29 charged, 26 are local, with 24 men and two women.

One man alone, Amere Singh Dhaliwal, is charged with 21 counts of rape.

Altogether, 65 charges of rape were filed against this pervert ring along with a host of other charges of abuse and neglect. As I have mentioned before, all but one of those charged appear to be Pakistani. There needs to be an inquiry into Pakistani attitudes toward little British girls. Yes, that's racial profiling, but one would have to be blind to not see a problem here. 

At the very least, the UK should close its borders to Pakistanis for their complete incompatibility with British values. Have we not sacrificed enough girls on the altar of political correctness, cowardice and stupidity. 

The case is due to be heard in a short hearing at Leeds Crown Court again today after they appeared at Kirklees Magistrates Court last month.

The defendants are:

Irfan Ahmed, 32, of Huddersfield. He is charged with trafficking a female within the UK with a view to her sexual exploitation (x6), sexual touching, taking indecent images of a child and inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.

Asif Bashir, 32, of Huddersfield. He is charged with rape (x4) and attempted rape.

Zahid Hassan , 28, of Huddersfield. He charged with trafficking a child within the UK with a view to her sexual exploitation (x5), rape (x8), racially aggravated assault, supply of Class A drugs (x2), inciting a child into sexual activity, child abduction (x2) and attempted rape.

Manzoor Hassan , 37, of Huddersfield. He is charged with supply of noxious substance with intent to injure, annoy or aggrieve female, supply of Class A drugs (x2) and incite a child into prostitution.
