Ex-Biden official Sam Brinton accepts plea deal in Las Vegas luggage theft

The former Biden administration official accused in two separate stolen-luggage cases in different states was ordered to pay one of their victims back — but given no jail time — Tuesday after they pleaded no contest to the bizarre theft.

Samuel Brinton, who is nonbinary and uses they/them pronouns, was given a 180-day suspended jail sentence for lifting a woman’s suitcase from Las Vegas‘ Harry Reid International Airport in July 2022, according to court records obtained by Fox 5.

As part of the plea deal, Brinton was charged with a misdemeanor instead of a felony.

A judge ordered them to pay $3,670.74 in restitution for the stolen luggage, which contained pricey jewelry, clothing and makeup.

The 35-year-old was caught on surveillance footage wearing a white T-shirt with a large rainbow-colored atomic nuclear symbol design — which Brinton was also caught wearing in an Instagram photo they posted later that day.

The 35-year-old was working as the deputy assistant secretary for spent fuel and waste disposition at the Department of Energy’s Office of Nuclear Energy when they committed the fashion crime, but has since been fired.

Brinton still faces felony charges in a similar case that alleges they struck again two months after the incident during a trip to Minnesota from Washington, DC.

They were caught on camera yanking a woman’s Vera Bradley bag off the baggage carousel at Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport and removing the owner’s ID tag before sneaking out, prosecutors allege.

Brinton — who was caught using the suitcase on at least two other occasions — admitted to investigators that they did grab the bag, but claimed it was an accident and was willing to return it along with its contents, valued at $2,325.

It was an accident that he ripped the ID tag off? Pfft!

Houston fashion designer Asya Khamsin told The Post in February she believes Brinton may have also been involved in a third luggage-lifting case.

She claims she noticed pictures of the White House official wearing her custom-made pieces that were lost at a Washington, DC, airport in 2018, four years before the Nevada and Minnesota cases.

Khamsin, who had traveled to the capital for a fashion show, was forced to withdraw and the garments were never recovered. Brinton has not been charged in that case.

Anheuser-Busch CEO's 'apology' for Bud Light’s fake woman ad falls flat

Anheuser-Busch’s top executive on Friday offered an apology flatter than a day-old Bud Light as the beer giant reels from the backlash over its sponsorship deal with controversial transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney.

“We never intended to be part of a discussion that divides people,” Anheuser-Busch InBev CEO Brendan Whitworth said in press release titled “Our Responsibility To America.”

“We are in the business of bringing people together over a beer.”

Whitworth finally broke his silence over the brewing controversy but made no mention of the sponsorship deal with Mulvaney — which has led to calls for a boycott of the nation’s largest beer company.

He also didn’t address reports that senior executives were kept in the dark about the Mulvaney rollout.

The $132 billion beer company has seen its market value plummet by some $5 billion since the campaign was launched April 1. 

Busch distributors around the country have been feeling the fallout, with many bars in conservative states from Tennessee to Wyoming refusing to stock Bud Light. 

“I simply don’t understand why they hired the person who was doing the marketing. I mean, if your target customer is Kid Rock, and then all of a sudden you decide to go to RuPaul, that just doesn’t make any sense at all,” Oxygen Financial CEO Ted Jenkin told Fox News Digital. 

Budweiser factories have also reportedly been targeted by a wave of bomb threats this week.

On Thursday, the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed that officers responded to a call from the Anheuser-Busch facility in the Van Nuys section.

A spokesperson for the St. Louis-based beermaker told Patch that several other facilities across the country also received bomb threats.

The Post has sought comment from Anheuser-Busch.

One marketing expert told The Post Whitworth’s mea culpa will do little to quell the controversy.

“Whilst it was great that the CEO spoke out formally and formally apologized, it still will leave a sour taste in the Bud Light consumers’ mouth of, why did you do this?” said Jay Jaye, founder of Ace of Spades branding agency.

“Apologizing only works when it clears up the reason why? This is still unknown and it paints the bigger picture – what is the true reason behind this,” he added.

The company had previously defended its decision to hire Mulvaney, an actress and influencer with more than 10 million followers on TikTok, where she documented her gender transition.  

“Anheuser-Busch works with hundreds of influencers across our brands as one of many ways to authentically connect with audiences across various demographics,” a spokesperson had told Fox News.

Alissa Heinerscheid, the vice president of marketing, highlighted the campaign during the “Make Yourself at Home” podcast last week, where the exec said she wanted to transform Bud Light’s brand.

“I’m a businesswoman, I had a really clear job to do when I took over Bud Light, and it was ‘This brand is in decline, it’s been in a decline for a really long time, and if we do not attract young drinkers to come and drink this brand, there will be no future for Bud Light,’” Heinerscheid said.

She also condemned the company’s previous branding, saying: “We had this hangover, I mean Bud Light had been kind of a brand of fratty, kind of out-of-touch humor, and it was really important that we had another approach.”

Well! That should help! Insulting your regular customers!

Conservatives have slammed the ad campaign, claiming the beer maker was pushing “gender propaganda.”

Country music singer John Rich said he pulled cases of Bud Light from his Nashville bar, Travis Tritt called for a boycott and rocker Kid Rock used several Bud Light cases for target practice in a viral video.

Others, like shock jock Howard Stern and podcaster Joe Rogan, have decried the conservative outrage over Mulvaney. Rogan popped open a can of Bud Light on a recent show and panned the boycott effort as ‘goofy.’  

Reaction on social media to Whitworth’s statement was scathing.

“I get the idea of bringing all kinds of people together. That’s awesome. However, it shows a lack of understanding for biological women. When you put a biological man in place of a woman, that is a slap to real women, and division,” wrote on Twitter user.

Another wrote: “NOPE. Not good enough. Boycott continues until full apology, fire VP Mrkt, and Mulvaney dropped. Either that or Anheuser-Busch becomes the next Schlitz.”

A Houston designer claims she had to cancel a fashion show after her bag full of the custom-made pieces was lost at a Washington DC airport – only for them to seemingly resurface years later being worn by former Department of Energy official Sam Brinton.

Asya Khamsin filed a lost luggage report after her bag containing 30 original designs disappeared from Ronald Reagan Washington Airport in DC on March 9, 2018, meaning she had to pull out of the planned show.

Several years later, the native Tanzanian designer stumbled on photographs of Brinton – who identifies as nonbinary and uses they/them pronouns – wearing what appeared to be the same original custom dresses.

Speaking from Zanzibar, Khamsin told The Post: “I was thinking, ‘Who took my bag, where is it?’ for a long time. Then I see images of the outfits [being worn by Brinton] and I was so confused and upset.

“I was thinking, where did he get those clothes – because I didn’t think he was a thief.”

Khamsin also posted a series of pictures online showing the disgraced former Department of Energy official wearing elaborate dresses side-by-side with her missing dress designs, which look identical.

Khamsin does not accuse Brinton of stealing the clothes or her luggage from the Washington DC airport, but said she is confused how they ended up in their possession.

Why not? It would be true to his character. But this case suggests that Brinton may be very diligent in choosing which luggage to steal.

The designer explained the dresses and jewelry had originally been displayed at the Lady In Red fashion show she runs in Dar es Salaam and said she was passing through Washington DC to show them on her way home to Houston when her case disappeared. She shared her conversations with officials about the lost luggage with Fox news.

Brinton, 35, served as the Biden administration’s deputy assistant secretary for spent fuel and waste disposition at the DOE’s Office of Nuclear Energy, but was fired after they were charged with stealing a woman’s suitcase from a Minneapolis airport and another woman’s bag from a Las Vegas airport over the summer.

In both cases, Brinton had traveled on flights from Washington DC before allegedly swiping the bags from the airports’ baggage carousels.

After seeing Brinton wearing what she believes is her stolen garb, Khamsin filed a report with the Houston Police Department on Dec. 16. The next month, she claims she was contacted by the agency’s field office in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

She added: “I don’t know if I would like the clothes back. The investigation is in good hands with the FBI. I’m waiting on them, they will do the right thing.”

Police probing possible revenge porn case of former

Cops are investigating who leaked live-streamed porn images of former NY1 weatherman Erick Adame, according to a report Wednesday.

The Emmy-nominated but now out-of-work meteorologist told WNYC he believes a mystery voyeur became obsessed with distributing nude images of him in an apparent effort to embarrass him.

“I concluded, it’s the same person that is just obsessed with posting these pictures of me,” he said in his first interview since the scandal led to his firing.

“Some of them are so humiliating.”

Adame, 39, has since hired a lawyer to get the IP address of the person who posted the images online.

Police are also probing the leak, the station said, though it was not revealed which department is conducting the investigation.

Adame lives in New Jersey, NY1 is based in Manhattan and his mother, who was sent some of the dirty images, lives upstate.

It was also unclear what law enforcement could do, as the images may not qualify as “revenge porn,” the radio station reported.

Under New York law, a person must have a “reasonable expectation of privacy,” and live-streaming may not be protected.

The ex-weatherman was fired in September after images of him live-streaming sex acts were taken from an adult website without his permission.

It soon emerged that he mentioned his job and other personal details during a camming session made in December 2021.

Adame apologized and admitted that he had a “compulsion,” saying it was “absurd of me to think I could keep this private.”

Proud, or embarrassed for being gay?

Since his embarrassing public firing, Adame told WNYC he has been harassed by sadistic trolls online.

“There is a mixture of support and then you’d have this random message calling me whatever name to degrade me and then saying you want some more? I can be your daddy,” he said.

“You know —no. I just lost this job that I really loved. I’m being publicly humiliated and you think I enjoy this?”

He also opened up about the root of his compulsion to make live sex videos for strangers on the internet, confessing it stemmed from  “low self-esteem” from being rejected for being gay.

Is that really his reason, or his excuse? It's hard to imagine someone being on TV every day has low self-esteem. The sex videos suggest he was more likely proud of his gayness. 

“Showing off and getting that type of praise and being called sexy, I wanted to see more. Hearing that from someone on the other end made you feel so good,” he said.

Now, he says, he’s in a committed relationship and that his sex life no longer involves the internet.

Ultimately he said he regrets camming while hedging on whether he thinks his firing was fair. 

“I don’t apologize for being sex positive — but I apologize because I am a role model, ” he said. “What it comes to is, as a news person, I live under different rules. I don’t think that’s fair, but I think that we do.”

It's the first time I have encountered that term - sex-positive! I don't know what it means, but I suspect it is not something good.

Ex-Canuck Virtanen finds new team in Germany after

Jake Virtanen has found a new home in Germany.

The 26-year-old has joined the Fischtown Pinguins, also known as REV Bremerhaven, in Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL) after an abrupt ending to his tumultuous time with EHC Visp of the Swiss League — a tier below Switzerland’s National League.

“I’m more than happy that the Penguins are giving me the chance to show that I’m a decent person and a good hockey player here in the north,” Virtanen told the Pinguins website, according to Google Translate. “I will do everything to ensure that the trust placed in me is rewarded.”

Virtanen, who had 25 points (14 goals, 11 assists) in 21 games with Visp, cancelled his contract with the team to join Bremerhaven, who sit eighth in the league standings.

The 26-year-old was no longer wanted by Visp after he reportedly got into a “verbal and muscular altercation” with teammate Daniel Eigenmann during a game on January 31, according to Swiss outlet Le Matin.

Eigenmann reportedly told management “it’s him or us” after the altercation.

Virtanen had signed a two-year contract with Visp in November after failing to earn a contract on a training camp try-out with the Edmonton Oilers in September. It was Virtanen’s latest NHL setback after he was bought out by the Canucks in 2021.

Virtanen, the No. 6 pick in the 2014 draft by Vancouver, played 317 career NHL games over parts of six seasons with the Canucks, collecting 100 points (55 goals, 45 assists).

He now joins his third team in his third league since being bought out by Vancouver. Virtanen spent the 2021-22 season with Spartak Moskva in Russia’s Kontinental Hockey League (KHL), netting 16 points (nine goals, seven assists) in 36 games.

He becomes Fischtown’s second Canadian alongside captain Alex Friesen, who was selected in the sixth round (No. 172) of the 2010 NHL Draft by the Vancouver Canucks and played one game with the club in 2016.

Virtanen also has a player option to remain with the Pinguins next season.

Just a few months ago, Sam Brinton was a rising star in the universe of the woke. Back on June 29, he announced, with considerable fanfare, his new role as deputy assistant secretary of the Office of Spent Fuel and Waste Disposition in the U.S. Department of Energy and tweeted happily about being “one of if not the very first openly genderfluid individuals in federal government leadership.” 

But it all ended ignominiously less than six months later: on Dec. 12, a Department of Energy spokesbeing announced tersely: “Sam Brinton is no longer a DOE employee. By law, the Department of Energy cannot comment further on personnel matters.”

Brinton turned out to be carrying too much baggage: his firing came after he was caught purloining that baggage from airports in Minneapolis and Las Vegas. On Wednesday, he appeared in a Minnesota court on luggage theft charges, and it wasn’t exactly like facing Old Joe Biden’s sycophantic, far-Left press corps in Washington.

Brinton likes to parade around in women’s clothes, but the seriousness of the charges he faces was apparently sobering; for his court appearance on Wednesday, he left his skirts in the closet and dressed quite conservatively (for him) in a suit and black button-down shirt. The suit’s burgundy color, however, did make it an outfit more suitable for a Batman villain than for a conventional government official. 

Brinton, according to the UK’s Daily Mail, “could face up to five years in prison and/or a $10,000 fine if found guilty.” As a cosseted member of the Leftist elite, Brinton is unlikely to be sentenced even to a fraction of that, but there is no doubt that his day in court was not the inspiring demonstration of how “diversity is our strength” that the Left would like all the public appearances of “non-binary” people to be.

Brinton was in court to face charges related to accusations that he stole a woman’s bag from the baggage claim area at the Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport on Sept. 16. Speculation has persisted since then that Brinton’s grab-bag style when wearing women’s clothing resulted from his practice of wearing whatever he found in the bags he carried off. It’s tough to be essentially the only disgraced official of a spectacularly disgraceful administration, and Brinton had tried to dodge having to make this humiliating public appearance. His lawyers repeatedly requested that he be allowed to appear remotely, but Judge Gina Brandt stated that “the current District Policy does not allow for remote appearances to be conducted for Felony 1st Appearances on the Property Drug Calendar.”

Once he was in court, however, Brandt took pains to make him feel comfortable, accommodating his delusions by referring to him not as “Mr. Brinton,” but as “Mx Brinton.” According to the Daily Mail, which also fed Brinton’s delusions by ridiculously (and confusingly) referring to him using plural pronouns, “Mx is a common gender-neutral title given to non-binary people who do not wish to have a gender referred to in their title.”

Reporters on the scene, however, were less deferential. Brinton was peppered with questions, all of which he ignored, as he left the courthouse and walked to a waiting limo: 

“Are you here for an interview with the [Minnesota Gov. Tim] Walz administration?” That was a good question, as Walz would likely love to have a “gender-fluid, non-binary” individual prominently on staff. 

Another impertinent scribbler asked Brinton: “Did you visit the Larry Craig restroom?” Larry Craig was the U.S. senator who, in 2007, was arrested in a restroom at the Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport for soliciting an undercover police officer for sex.

Brinton was also asked: “Do you have any comments on the train disaster in Ohio? You’re an expert in these things.” Brinton is indeed touted as an expert in nuclear waste disposal, but the material poisoning the atmosphere in Ohio is apparently not nuclear; was the reporter implying that Brinton himself was a train wreck? 

In any case, another asked Brinton: “Why would you want some lady’s dirty clothes?”

There’s the rub. Why indeed would Brinton have wanted to steal women’s luggage in the first place? That question gets to the heart of the problem: the very thing for which the Biden regime celebrated Brinton appears to be exactly the same thing that led him to commit acts that have gotten him charged with felony theft. That was the biggest message of his court appearance Wednesday. Whether anyone among the political and cultural elites will grasp that message, however, is an entirely different matter.

It's easy to link transgenderism with mental illness, but until we were introduced to the astonishing Sam Brinton, there was no obvious link between 'non-binary' persons and mental illness. Brinton's impressive academic credits are completely wasted by his bizarre behaviour: stealing a suitcase from a single woman at an airport, and then doing it again after he was charged with the first offence. And he accomplished all this in less than one year. I wonder if this was his way of shopping for women's clothes?

The Department of Energy has fired a top nuclear waste official who happens to be non-binary and has been accused in a string of luggage thefts, according to reports. 

“Sam Brinton is no longer a DOE employee. By law, the Department of Energy cannot comment further on personnel matters,” a spokesperson for the DOE told the Daily Beast on Monday.

(CNN)Former House Speaker Dennis Hastert sexually abused at least four boys when he worked as a wrestling coach at a high school in Illinois decades ago, federal prosecutors said.

In documents released Friday, prosecutors detailed stunning allegations against Hastert, the longest-running Republican speaker of the House.

The revelation comes days before his April 27 sentencing in a financial violation case. He pleaded guilty last year to structuring money transactions to evade reporting where he took massive amounts of funds he was withdrawing.

Investigators said the transactions involved $3.5 million he paid in hush money to one of his accusers.

Prosecutors listed four boys Hastert allegedly abused when he coached at a high school in Yorkville, Illinois.

An additional one -- a fifth student -- died years after the abuse, according to the document.

Dennis Hastert in 1985 as a member of the Illinois House of Representatives, where he served from 1980 to 1986.

Accuser allegedly paid off

The accusations came to light after investigators found out he was paying an ex-student to stay quiet about sexual abuse allegations, prosecutors allege.

The student was among four others who told investigators he abused them, including one who was 14 at the time, the documents allege.

The allegations date to the 1960s and 1970s, according to the prosecutors' court filing.

Hastert will not face sexual abuse charges because the statutes of limitation have expired.


Massages, sex acts alleged

All those who accused him of sexual abuse were wrestlers at the high school, according to the documents.

In two separate cases, Hastert massaged one boy each in a locker room and performed unspecified sexual acts on them, prosecutors allege.

In another instance, he allegedly massaged a boy's groin area and singled him out to stay in his hotel room during a wrestling camp.

Another accuser said Hastert touched him inappropriately in a "very weird" way while he was a student, prosecutors said.

"The actions at the core of this case took place not on the defendant's national public stage but in his private one-on-one encounters in an empty locker room and a motel room with minors that violated the special trust between those young boys and their coach," prosecutors said.

During his time at Yorkville High School, Hastert was a beloved coach. He was named Illinois Coach of the Year after leading the wrestling team to the state championship.


Apology

CNN has reached out to Hastert's attorneys, but has not heard back.

Before details of the sexual abuse allegations came to light, Hastert apologized this week for an unspecified misconduct.

"Mr. Hastert is deeply sorry and apologizes for his misconduct that occurred decades ago and the resulting harm he caused to others," his attorneys wrote. "He will stand before the court having deteriorated both physically and emotionally, undoubtedly in part due to public shaming and humiliation of an unprecedented degree."

As he awaits sentencing in the financial misconduct, Hastert was hospitalized with various ailments late last year, including a stroke and sepsis. His attorneys have asked for probation instead of jail time in the financial case.

Prosecutors are asking for only 6 months in jail. They'll probably recommend he be given a gold watch too. What a farcical system of justice - if he were an ordinary man, they would be seeking 60 years in prison.

Hastert served as the Republican speaker of the House between 1999-2007.

Police have arrested a former Army reservist for stealing 16 military weapons from a Massachusetts armory. Evidence from surveillance video, DNA, and an electronic monitoring bracelet led to his quick arrest. He was already facing child rape charges.

James Walker Morales, 34, was arrested on Wednesday in New York and charged with unlawful possession of a machine gun, two counts of possession of stolen firearms, and the theft of government property, according to court documents.

I'm amazed someone that stupid could make it to the age of 34 years.

Morales allegedly broke into the US Army Reserve Center in Worcester on Saturday, cut a hole in the roof of the drill room, used a power saw to break into the vault, and stole 16 military weapons, including six M-4 rifles and 10 sig Sauer M11 9mn pistols. The theft was discovered on Sunday.

According to court documents, the M-4 rifles [machine guns] are equipped with a toggle switch that allows them to fire a single shot or a three round burst with each single pull of the trigger. It is not known whether the weapons have been retrieved.

The FBI said surveillance cameras near the Army Reserve facility recorded the theft. Video shows a man with duffle bags exiting a vehicle parked near the facility at 6:43 pm, who then walks towards the facility. He returns to the vehicle later without the bags and then returns to the facility with more. He is later seen making several trips from the car to the facility with and without duffle bags until around midnight, when the vehicle finally leaves.

Other evidence leading to his speedy arrest came from blood stains found at the scene that helped identify Morales as the thief, according to local WPRI. Blood was found on the wall of the exterior of the weapons vault, on a pillar supporting the ceiling of the drill room, and inside the vault. DNA from the blood stains was sent to an FBI lab for testing. It was found to match Morales’ DNA, which was in a national database due to a criminal conviction, according to the FBI.

Morales was also identified due to an electronic monitoring bracelet he was wearing during the break-in, which was a condition of his bail for a child rape case. Morales had already been charged with child rape and indecent assault on a child under 14 in May. The bracelet placed Morales “directly inside” the facility during the break-in, according to the FBI.

Army Reserve Center, Worcester, Mass

A warrant was issued for Morales on November 16, when he cut off the monitoring bracelet, according to court documents.

Morales joined the US Army Reserve in 2008 and was said to have visited the Army Reserve Center on November 12 to pick up his discharge papers. It is not clear when he was discharged from the reserve, according to the FBI.

Morales had previously been convicted of aggravated assault and battery in 2013 after an incident in Summerville, Massachusetts. He was sentenced to one year in jail, but the sentence was suspended and he never served any time.
