Three British Teens Allegedly Run Away from ISIS

The three British teenage girls who were believed to have joined the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS) are on the run after escaping from the group, according to a report in British newspaper the Daily Mail.

A blogger in Mosul city, who goes by the name of "Mosul Eye," claimed in a post on his Facebook page that the three girls escaped on May 2, adding "Three girls, (Foreigners – British) married to ISIL (ISIS) militants, reported missing, and ISIL announced to all its checkpoints to search for them. It is believed that those girls have escaped."

In addition to the very first post about the flight of the three, the anonymous blogger gave some other information about the fugitives' profile, "They are Brits, not immigrants, and they are very young teens (around 16 years old). That's all I have about them for now."

The on-the-run-girls, who are believed to have fled in order to marry ISIS militants, were claimed for a few days to be the same teenagers, named Shamima Begum, 15, Amira Abase, 15, and Kadiza Sultana, 16, who had left Bethnal Green Academy in East London in early February and flew to Turkey before crossing the border into Syria. The matter of the three British girls turned into a diplomatic incident when Turkish authorities criticized Britain's failure to alert them in time.

However, the blogger wrote in another statement, posted 10 days after the original post, that he "cannot confirm, as of yet, if those girls were the same trio mentioned in the British media, as their identities are still unknown," and added, "The latest info I got on them is they are still on the run, but still in Mosul, and ISIL is thoroughly searching for them and has not captured them yet."

Regarding the speculation about the fugitive British girls, U.K. Home Secretary Theresa May was asked whether the trio would be allowed to return to the UK or not. The home secretary told ITV1's Good Morning Britain that she is "not able to talk about individual cases" as such cases of return from Syria or Iraq should be evaluated on "a case-by-case basis." May also pointed out that several young Britons who joined ISIS came back after a while disillusioned with the group after "suddenly realizing what a mistake they made."

The question of who those three girls really are remains unanswered, with Mosul Eye the only source.

This is obviously a very dangerous situation for these 3 girls, no matter who they are. Especially if they have not made it out of Mosul. It is unlikely that they can get out of Mosul on their own, so I expect they are in contact with someone outside.

ISIS will be looking for them, and all the more diligently now that the story has leaked out. It would not be good propaganda for ISIS should the girls make it out alive to tell their stories.

Woman Pleads Guilty in Massive Trailer Park Sex Abuse Case

A Davenport woman pleaded guilty Wednesday to an aggravated misdemeanor in connection with a child sex abuse investigation at a Davenport mobile home park. 

Andrea L. Rodden, 33, faces up to two years in prison when she is sentenced June 24 on a single charge of child endangerment. According to Rodden's plea agreement, Scott County prosecutors will drop a felony charge of child endangerment causing bodily injury at sentencing.

Why is it they drop the more serious charge when plea bargaining? That's just crazy to me.

According to court documents, Rodden allowed a child to spend the night with registered sex offender James E. Faler on Oct. 30, 2011, at the Patriot Mobile Home Park, 4847 W. Kimberly Road. The child was sexually abused by Faler, who documented the abuse by taking a picture, according to court documents.

Davenport is on the Iowa side of the Mississippi River.

Rodden and Faler are two of nine people charged in connection with the sexual abuse of multiple children at the mobile home park.

Faler, 49, is charged in federal court with multiple counts of producing child pornography. He is scheduled to be tried July 13. 

Faler's half-brother, Melvin T. Lucier, 55, also a sex offender, is charged with multiple counts of second-degree sexual abuse in Scott County. He will be tried Aug. 3 in the first of three cases he faces. 

Thomas E. Jenkins, 24, also a sex offender, was sentenced earlier this year to up to 50 years in prison for sexually abusing an 8-year-old girl while living at the mobile home park in 2012.

Sherry Ann Oats, 49, was sentenced to nine years in prison for allowing multiple children to spend the night with the two men. Several of the children were sexually abused.

Her daughter, Jessica L. Epping, 30, was sentenced in January to two years probation for an aggravated misdemeanor count of child endangerment.

Oats' other daughter, Jenni M. Jenkins, pleaded guilty in March to three counts of misdemeanor child endangerment. She will be sentenced June 4. 

Sarah M. McConnell, 35, pleaded guilty in April to two counts of felony child endangerment. She will be sentenced June 18. 

The case against Shaneka M. Posey, 24, charged with felony child endangerment, is pending.

It's mothers like these degenerates that cause me to doubt my position on abortion.

New evidence has revealed how Islamic State fighters buy children as sex slaves and force them into marriage. Girls from Iraq and Syria told a senior UN official they were stripped, sold, and made to undergo over a dozen virginity reparation surgeries.

I knew this was done to little girls sold or abducted into sexual slavery in the far east, but was not aware of it in the Middle East until now. Virgins attract a much higher price than non-virgins in the sex-slave market.

“Girls are literally being stripped naked and examined in slave bazaars,” by Islamic State (IS, previously ISIS/ISIL) fighters, Zainab Bangura, Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General on Sexual Violence in Conflict told the journalist during a briefing.

Bangura visited the Middle East between April 16 and 29 to talk to surviving rape victims. During her travels she stopped in Syria, Iraq, Turkey, Lebanon and Jordan. Bangura managed to interview women who had escaped and survived horrific sexual assaults at the hands of IS fighters.

The girls and children were treated like cattle, she said. They are “categorized and shipped naked off to Dohuk or Mosul or other locations to be distributed among ISIL leadership and fighters.”

One of the victims was married off over 20 separate times and after each time was forced to get a surgery that would repair her virginity.

“Women and girls are at risk and under assault at every point of their lives,” Bangura said, adding that this kind of violent treatment of women was actually encouraged as part of jihad.

“ISIL has institutionalized sexual violence and the brutalization of women as a central aspect of their ideology and operations, using it as a tactic of terrorism to advance their key strategic objectives.”

Horror and violence followed the girls “every step of the way…in the midst of active conflict, in areas under control of armed actors, at check-points and border crossings, and in detention facilities,” according to Bangura.

Militants even use trafficking, prostitution and ransom plots as a way to raise money, she added.

Sexual violence is used by IS as a tactic to punish, humiliate, and demoralize local populations, making it easier to get information from them and displace them.

As a result of these atrocities, these victims of child rape are growing into “a generation of stateless children,” who will remain vulnerable to IS recruitment tactics.

There have been reports that doctors have performed illegal abortions on pregnant girls as young as nine.

Many of the child victims are from the Yazidi religious minority in Iraq. Around 40,000 of them were reportedly kidnapped at gunpoint by IS militants last August. Other minorities at risk include Christians, Iraqi Turkmens and Shabaks.

A video surfaced on YouTube in November, showing IS militants laughing and joking while buying Yazidi slaves.

Many of the women have expressed feeling ashamed and are unable to restart their lives after surviving the brutal and humiliating attacks. No kidding! How do you go back to something resembling normal life after such horrific treatment. It's not like these girls/women are going to get counselling to deal with it.

Please pray for these girls/women who escape the sickening evil, and especially those still caught-up in it.

Dorset Child Sexual Exploitation Report Finds 50 Cases

More than 50 vulnerable children were at risk of being sexually abused in Dorset over the past year, a report has revealed.

Potential victims as young as 12 were uncovered by the county council-commissioned investigation into child sexual exploitation (CSE).

Of the 51 children identified, 14 were considered at "significant" risk.

There have been several CSE arrests in the county, and some abuse has been "disrupted", the report said.

The potential victims were all female, with the exception of two cases.

The majority identified in the report were aged 14 or 15, but the youngest was 12.

Dorset County Council said it would discuss the report's findings with a view to taking earlier intervention in future.

Dorset is a largely rural county with a pop of about 750,000

There never seems to be any shortage of genius in devising ways to get children into vulnerable positions where they can be taken advantage of. Chivalry, apparently, has become extinct!

Det Insp Neil Phillips, of Dorset Police, said the force wanted to "educate and safeguard" those at risk.

A number of children in local authority care go missing and are at risk of CSE, he said, but there are also abused children who live at home with parents and carers.

"It's down to children being inquisitive, pushing boundaries and exploring," he said.

"Some children will experiment with alcohol and drugs and come into contact with adult males that are slightly older than them that are willing to try and exploit them sexually."

Duncan Stanway, from Barnardos, described the report as "really worrying and shocking" but said he was encouraged the council had recognised the problem.

"For too long lots of local authorities have brushed child sexual exploitation under the carpet," he said.

Children from a wide range of social backgrounds were exploited, he said, but more vulnerable groups, such as those in care or young people who have run away from home, were most at risk.

2 Arrested for Torture, Child Sex Abuse

Two men have been arrested in separate incidents in Madison County, Alabama and charged with child abuse and sexual abuse of a child.

Amondre Jamaul Epps, 26, was arrested Tuesday night and charged with first-degree sex abuse. According to the Madison County Sheriff's Office, Epps was arrested following a complaint that he'd had sexual contact with a child.

The child, whose age was not given, is not related to the suspect. Epps is being held in the Madison County jail in lieu of $30,000 bond.

In the second case, Melvin Charles Jarrett, 48, is charged with torture/willful abuse of a child. Jarrett's arrest on Wednesday follows the investigation into a domestic violence incident in which a child in his family suffered physical injuries. 

The nature of those injuries was not disclosed.

Gunmen in South Sudan have raped girls, seized boys to become soldiers and torched towns in some of the heaviest fighting seen in the 17-month-long civil war, the United Nations said on Tuesday.

Over 300,000 civilians have been left without “life-saving aid” in the northern battleground state of Unity, after the UN and aid agencies pulled out due to a surge in fighting, with over 100,000 forced to flee their homes.

The UN peacekeeping mission said it was “increasingly concerned” about reports from Guit and Koch counties in Unity state of “towns and villages being burnt, killings, abductions of males as young as 10 years of age, rape and abduction of girls and women, and the forced displacement of civilians.”

The violence is some of the worst in months, as government forces push south from the state capital Bentiu into an opposition zone around the town of Leer, home to some of the country’s once lucrative oil fields.

The International Committee of the Red Cross has also withdrawn staff from Leer and warned that escalating fighting between forces loyal to President Salva Kiir and rebel leader Riek Machar was forcing thousands of civilians to flee for their lives yet again.

Unity state governor Joseph Monytuil told reporters late Monday that government troops aimed to take Leer from opposition forces within days. “Our forces ... are now pursuing them to where they came from,” said Monytuil.

Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) said on Saturday it was forced to evacuate its foreign staff from Leer and halt all medical services amid fears the rebel-held town was about to come under “imminent attack” from government forces.

Leer, the birthplace of Machar, was ransacked by government forces in January 2014. Gunmen looted the MSF hospital and burnt some of the buildings.

MSF has since rebuilt the hospital, the only referral facility in opposition areas.

South Sudan’s civil war began in December 2013 and has been characterised by ethnically-driven massacres, rape and attacks on civilians and medical facilities.

In other words, absolutely no moral compass involved!

Peace talks in neighbouring Ethiopia have so far failed to reach any lasting agreement, or even an effective ceasefire.

The violence, which has escalated into an ethnic conflict involving multiple armed groups, has killed tens of thousands of people in the world’s youngest nation, which gained independence from Sudan in 2011.

It has also left over half of the country’s 12 million people in need of aid, with 2.5 million people facing severe food insecurity, according to the UN.

The European Union late Monday condemned the fighting, saying that “South Sudan’s man-made crisis has caused one of the worst humanitarian disasters of recent years.”

EU aid chief Christos Stylianides said there “can be no military solution to this conflict” and that responsibility for striking a peace deal rests on the shoulders of the leaders.

“If they fail to make the necessary effort for peace, they will inevitably be held responsible also for the consequences,” he said in a statement.

Inevitably they will, but will it be in this life or later? If it's later, we may all have to answer for it.

Man Jailed for 'Horrific' Child Sex Abuse of Girl from the Age of 7

A rapist who subjected a girl to more than a decade of sexual abuse was today jailed for 20 years.

Ikhlaque Nazir Chohdry, 58, of Emerald Road in north west London, was found guilty last week of five counts of rape of a female and six counts of indecent assault.

Police said their inquiries had established his victim was targeted a number of times between when she was aged between seven and 20.

Chohdry was arrested as part of their investigation in May 2013 and later charged.

Today he was sentenced at Harrow Crown Court to two decades in prison.

Scotland Yard's Detective Constable Luke Williams said: "Chohdry subjected the victim to a horrific ordeal of abuse from a very young age. I commend her bravery in coming forward and providing the evidence that brought him to justice.

"This sentence illustrates that society is unwilling to accept this abhorrent behaviour. The Met will continue to work tirelessly to keep the children of London safe, and ensure that victims are given the opportunity to be heard."

Chohdry was found not guilty of one count of rape and one count of attempted anal rape of a male under 16, police said.

1 in 4 Kids in Cyprus are Sexually Abused; More Than 1 in 3 Girls

ALMOST ONE in four people in Cyprus under 18 have been subjected to some form of sexual abuse or exploitation, a member of a leading children’s welfare group said on Monday.

Since a general global average of 8% of boys and 20% of girls are molested, that gives a ratio of 1:2.5 boys:girls. If the ratio is consistent, then in Europe 11% of boys and 29% of girls are molested. In Cypress, however, those numbers rise to 14% of boys and 36% of girls. In other words 1 in 7 boys and more than 1 in 3 girls are sexually abused. That is utterly deplorable and an absolute crisis.

Dr Antonis Stylianou, member of the Hope for Children policy centre’s advisory board told a press conference the figure was larger than the EU one in five average.

Stressing the importance of implementing strict national legislation which is synchronised with the Lanzarote Convention that requires criminalisation of all kinds of sexual offences against children, Stylianou said that the specific matter “should become an issue of major importance in Cyprus”.

He added that the steering committee of the campaign One in Five, and the Council of Europe will hold the first workshop in Cyprus on Tuesday against child sexual abuse to train and inform all state services on good practices followed by other countries.

At the press conference were also present the chairman of  the Lanzarote committee Bragi Gudbrandsson and Greek MP and coordinator of the One in Five campaign of the Council of Europe in Greece, Elena Rapti.

In Cyprus, the Lanzarote Convention was ratified last November by a unanimous House vote. The One in Five campaign, named after the estimates that say one in five children fall victim to sexual violence, aims at educating children and society at large by providing the knowledge and tools to prevent and report sexual violence against children.

One in Five launched the underwear rule campaign which teaches children through the story of Kiko and the Hand, where others should not try to touch them, how to react and where to seek help.

Guardsman Charged with Raping 4 Girls in His Care

An Ohio National Guardsman accused of sexually abusing three adopted daughters and his stepdaughter

MARYSVILLE, Ohio (Mike McCarthy/AP) -- Jury selection began Monday for the trial of an Ohio National Guardsman accused of sexually abusing four children in his care.

A Union County grand jury indicted Jean Pauk Kruse, 42, of Marysville on 35 counts, including rape, sexual battery, and gross sexual imposition.

He has pleaded not guilty, and his attorney has declined to comment.

Kruse is accused of abusing girls who were under 13 years old.

The allegations of abuse extend from incidents dated between October 2006 to August 2012.

Prosecutors also alleged he and his wife abruptly sent a child out of state in July 2012 and threatened other children in the family with a similar fate to keep them from talking about what they knew.

The Guardsman's wife, Emily Kruse, has been charged in a separate case with intimidation, obstructing justice and evidence tampering and initially pleaded not guilty. Her attorney has declined to comment.

A prosecutor previously said the children no longer lived with the Guardsman. Well I hope not!

Worker at Prestigious School Charged with Child-Rape

ROCKVILLE, Maryland (WJLA) - A distinguished Montgomery County private school is on edge after police arrested a longtime employee on charges of child sex abuse.

Julio Cruz, 58, of Rockville, is accused of inappropriately touching, and in one case, having sexual intercourse with his niece, then just 10-years-old.

According to charging documents filed in Montgomery County District Court, Cruz molested the girl, now 20, on four separate occasions during the summer and fall of 2005. The alleged incidents occurred inside of his home and car.

In one case, Cruz reportedly told the girl she "looked pretty" and added that he wanted to teach her how to "deal with [sexual] urges." In another instance, Cruz allegedly fondled the girl before turning red, crying and asking for forgiveness.

Investigators say Cruz attempted to keep his niece quiet, a strategy that worked for 10 years.

"These are extremely serious crimes, especially when there's a child involved. I think that aspect hits home with a lot of people,” Montgomery County Police Department spokeswoman Ofc. Nicole Gamard said.

ABC 7 News has learned Cruz worked as a maintenance technician at the Charles E. Smith Jewish Day School in Rockville since 2001. He was assigned to the Lower School located along the 1900 block of Jefferson Street in Rockville. Although the alleged abuse took place off-campus, school leaders are taking the criminal case very seriously.

In a letter home to parents, Head of School, Rabbi Mitchel Malkus wrote, "Given the nature of the charges, we felt it was important to make you aware of the situation and the actions the school has taken... [We] immediately suspended Mr. Cruz. He has not been on campus since his arrest and he is no longer permitted on campus."

ABC 7 News visited Cruz's home along the 4800 block of Boiling Brook Parkway. When asked if he inappropriately touched his niece, the 58-year-old shook his head and said, "You want to know, you call my lawyer."

Detectives attempted to interview Cruz at police headquarters, but he invoked his constitutional right to a lawyer, which police say they respected.

"We don't go filing charges just because we feel like it, there has to be very strong evidence for us to file," Ofc. Gamard added. "Mr. Cruz will have his day in court where he can try and prove his innocence."

Although the current allegations of child sex abuse did not happen on CESJDS property, nor did they involve any school children, police are urging any other potential victims to come forward.
