2014 Most Brutal for World's Children But UNICEF Completely Ignores CSA

I am just devastated! UNICEF's State of the World's Children report for 2014 just came out, and but for female genital mutilation and child brides, there is no mention of child sex abuse - none! No mention of child trafficking, child pornography, or child prostitution. How can that be?

They quantified the number of children who suffer from diarrhea, the number who have vitamin A deficiency,  and they don't count the number of children suffering from the greatest scourge that mankind has ever inflicted upon itself, child sex abuse.
No CSA stats! Violence refers
to discipline only.

While nobodies like me struggle to raise the profile of this horror, UNICEF virtually ignores it. Unbelievable! How far we have to go.

So, having been forewarned that the most important data are missing, here is a quick look at the report.

The last year has been the most brutal for the world's children in recent memory, with a quarter of a billion of them living in places touched by armed conflict, UNICEF said in a report on Monday. The onslaught has been so great that many of the protracted crises are no longer capturing global attention.

"Children have been killed while studying in the classroom and while sleeping in their beds; they have been orphaned, kidnapped, tortured, recruited, raped and even sold as slaves. Never in recent memory have so many children been subjected to such unspeakable brutality," UNICEF Executive Director Anthony Lake said.

Some of the data highlights:

Up to 10,000 kids have been recruited by armed groups in the Central African Republic, and 432 have been killed.

54,000 children in Gaza were left homeless by this summer's fighting.

There have been more than 35 attacks on Syrian schools.

In South Sudan, a quarter of a million children are suffering from severe malnutrition.

The Ukrainian crisis had displaced 128,000 children.

Thousands of children in West Africa have lost one or both parents, and 5 million children have been unable to attend school.
