HUDSON, N.Y. -- State Police break up what they are calling a child sex abuse ring in Columbia County, New York state.
According to troopers, four people are facing several charges-accused of physically and sexually abusing several children in Columbia County.
Goliath VanAlphen, Jeanine VanAlphen, Eugene Shackleton, and William Wendover (not pictured) were arrested late Monday after a two year investigation.
According to court documents, investigators allege the group was sexually abusing numerous children, some under the age of 11.
On Tuesday, the four were arraigned on numerous sex abuse charges against children in Columbia County Court, and sent to Columbia County Jail.
Goliath VanAlphen, 45, of Claverack, was charged with six counts of aggravated sexual abuse, one count of promoting a sexual performance of a child, two counts of criminal sex act, sexual abuse, and solicitation, all felonies.
Jeanine VanAlphen-Moot, 20, Of Cairo was charged with promoting a sexual performance of a child as a felony.
William Wendover, 27, of Cairo was charged with two counts of aggravated sexual abuse, three counts of criminal sex act, three counts of sexual abuse, and solicitations, all felonies.
Eugene Shackleton, 58, of Copake, was charged with six counts of aggravated sexual abuse, two counts of criminal sex act, two counts of sexual abuse and solicitation, all felonies.
Goliath VanAlphen was remanded to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $100,000 cash bail or $200,000 bond. Shackleton was remanded on $100,000 cash bail or $200,000 bond. Wendover was remanded in lieu of $125,000 cash bail or $250,000 bond and VanAlphen-Moot was remanded in lieu of $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond.
While troopers aren't saying how the suspects may be connected to their alleged victims, they are asking anyone who thinks their child could have been abused to call the New York State Child Abuse hotline at 800-342-3720.
