Ogden PD arrests 18-year-old for alleged sexual abuse of ‘runaway’
OGDEN, Utah, Sept. 21, 2025 (Gephardt Daily) — An 18-year-old Ogden man was arrested Saturday evening for the alleged sexual abuse of a 13-year-old girl, described by police as a runaway.
The man was booked into the Weber County jail for investigation of alleged:
- Rape of a child, a first-degree felony
- Sexual abuse of a child, a second-degree felony
- Lewdness involving a child, a class A misdemeanor
According to court documents, the alleged suspect was initially questioned by a deputy of the Weber County Sheriff‘s Office in connection with another case.
The alleged suspect admitted sexual involvement with the juvenile, and Ogden City Police took over the case.
“I conducted an interview with (the suspect) after he was reminded of his rights per Miranda and agreed to speak with officers.
During the interview, the suspect “initially denied ever having sex with the victim, but eventually admitted that approximately a month prior they had attempted to have sex.”
That happened by a river in Ogden, he said.
The suspect “admitted that he had been told by the victim’s family that she was 13 and told to stay away from her,” his arrest documents say.
“Nevertheless, he continued to engage in a relationship with the victim and admitted to re-engaging in sexual activity with her today.
“The victim’s parents advised me that after they took her home tonight, she stated that she would continue to ‘see'” him.
The 18-year-old was booked into the Weber County Correctional Facility.
Court records indicate he is homeless, does not have a phone number, is not from Utah, and his family lives out of state,” the arresting document says. “If he were to be released, locating him again would be challenging.”
