YouTube Star Austin Jones Arrested on
Child Pornography Charges

Austin Jones was arrested Monday night on child pornography charges, E! News can confirm.

The YouTube star, who has amassed more than 500,000 subscribers for his acapella pop music covers, was charged with two counts of production of child pornography.

Jones, 24, will appear in court for a detention hearing on Wednesday. According to the Chicago Sun-Times (who was first to report the news), he will remain in federal custody until then because, according to prosecutors, the pop singer is a "risk to the community and there's a danger he'll flee."

If convicted, Austin faces a minimum of 15 years in prison. According to court documents obtained by E! News, Jones was allegedly in communication with two underage female victims in August 2016 and May 2017 over Facebook. The criminal complaint describes Jones requesting one girl to "prove" she was his "biggest fan" by sending him sexually explicit videos.

The documents claim Jones was stopped by Customs and Border Patrol and Homeland Security Investigations at O'Hare International Airport in Chicago. He was then taken into custody, where he gave a recorded interview admitting to the charges.

Former church youth leader pleads not guilty
to child sexual abuse charges
Stephen Gruber-Miller

A former church youth leader is pleading not guilty to multiple accusations of child sexual abuse and related charges.

Benjamin C. Tweedt, 32, of North Liberty on Thursday entered a written plea of not guilty to all charges against him, online court records show.

Police say Tweedt, a former youth leader and mentor at Parkview Church in Iowa City, fondled or had inappropriate sexual interactions with at least four children between the ages of 11 and 13 from 2006 to 2013. He was arrested in April, but was released after posting bond.

The church, which reported the allegations to police in February, says Tweedt was a volunteer but was never an employee.

Police said most of the abuse occurred during one-on-one visits with children in Tweedt's capacity as a volunteer with the church. North Liberty Police Chief Diane Venenga said the abuse happened in homes and church retreat locations in North Liberty and Coralville.

All of the victims and witnesses interviewed by police had a connection to Parkview Church, Venenga said at the time of Tweedt's arrest.

Tweedt also taught at Heritage Christian School in North Liberty from 2009 to 2013, and is the author of a series of young adult books featuring a teenage boy named Greyson Gray who fights terrorists.

The charges against him, to which he has pleaded not guilty, are:

One count of third-degree sexual abuse, a class C felony;
Two counts of lascivious acts with a child - fondle or touch, a class C felony;
Three counts of indecent contact with a child, an aggravated misdemeanor;
Two counts of lascivious conduct with a minor, a serious misdemeanor.

If convicted on all counts, Tweedt could face up to 38 years in prison. His trial has been set for Oct. 10.

Barboursville man arrested on 10
child sex abuse charges
By BISHOP NASH The Herald-Dispatch

HUNTINGTON - West Virginia State Police have arrested a 48-year-old Barboursville man accused of sexually abusing a young female family member over a four-year period beginning when she was 7 years old.

Donald Keith Moore is charged with two counts of sexual abuse by a parent or guardian, two counts of first-degree sexual assault, two counts of first-degree sexual abuse, two counts of third-degree sexual assault and two counts of third-degree sexual abuse, according to criminal complaints from Cabell County Magistrate Court.

The investigation began in May when the victim, now housed at an alternative school in Ona, confided in employees she had been sexually abused by Moore between 2009 and 2013, beginning when she was in the second grade.

In an interview with troopers, the victim accused Moore of performing sexual acts and groping her as she pretended to sleep while her mother was away at work. The reported abuse happened on at least 10 occasions, complaints state, at three different residences in Huntington.

The investigation led to warrants for Moore's arrest being signed Friday, and he was arrested later that night.

Moore remains incarcerated at Western Regional Jail on a $100,000 bond.
