Man extradited from Netherlands over

child sex abuse images

A 40-year-old man has been extradited from the Netherlands to Northern Ireland to stand trial over cases relating to images of child sex abuse.

The first case relates to 27 offences which include possessing, making and distributing indecent images of children.

The second case involves 108 offences that include possessing, making and distributing indecent images of children and inciting the sexual assault of a child.

The offences allegedly happened in the Lurgan area in 2014. The man skipped Crown Court bail in late 2020 and has been sought for arrest since, police said.

He was extradited to Northern Ireland on Friday and is due to appear before Lisburn Magistrates' Court on Saturday.

Sgt Davey from the Police Service of Northern Ireland's international policing unit said: "Our message is clear to anyone who fails to abide by their bail conditions that they will be located, arrested and returned before the courts."

Survivors praised for bravery as Suffolk sex offender jailed for crimes 30 years ago

The two victims of a child sex offender have been praised for their bravery in putting him behind bars more than 30 years after he committed his crimes.

Mark French, aged 61, formerly of Newbourne Gardens in Felixstowe, Suffolk, was found guilty of two counts of rape of a child and 10 counts of indecent assault on children in May following a 13-day trial.

The offences took place over a 10-year period and involved two girls.

He was jailed for 19 years when he appeared at Ipswich Crown Court and must serve an extra two years on extended licence.

Det Con Gemma Spink said: “No sentence will heal the trauma that French inflicted on his victims, who were children at the time of the offending and who have shown great bravery to come forward to report the crimes against them and see the case to its conclusion.

“I hope this outcome will encourage other victims of non-recent sexual abuse to feel confident about coming forward to police and assure them that they will be listened to by officers.”

French was also given a restraining order against both victims and made subject of an indefinite sexual harm prevention order.

BERHAMPUR: Tension prevailed at a village in Chikiti block of Ganjam district on Saturday after allegations surfaced that headmaster of the local school allegedly sexually harassed a 14-year-old girl.

Sources said, the headmaster, due to retire next month, allegedly molested a Class VIII student of the school on Friday. He reportedly called her to his office chamber on some pretext and caught hold of her. The girl managed to free herself and ran out. Later, he allegedly warned her not to disclose the incident. While the survivor remained silent, her classmates who learned about the incident informed village elders.

On Saturday, after the school began, hundreds of villagers gathered at the premises and locked the gates, confining teachers and students inside. On being alerted, the headmaster, who was on his way to school, fled the place.

Teachers immediately informed Golonthara police which rushed to the spot and pacified the villagers and assured stringent action against the headmaster. Police also launched a search for the headmaster.

The girl’s parents declined to lodge a police complaint fearing social stigma.

Block education officer PB Majhi said he has not received any formal complaint.

Upgrading childcare in Australia - Daycare shut down in Wagga Wagga

It's amazing that the daycare was allowed to operate for 8 years without meeting safety standards. The efforts to improve are laudable, but daycares will never be safe for little children as long as men, or boys, are present.

CSA Down Under > Australia's first public child sex offender registry coming; Gym shut down, owner charged with CSA in Queensland

Australia FINALLY getting a public registry of child sex offenders: Parents will be able to check images and details

A new register of child sexual abuse offenders promises to give children greater protections.

The new laws will be introduced to Queensland parliament this week, delivering on a key election commitment of the Crisafulli liberal government.

Known as 'Daniel's Law', named after 13-year-old Daniel Morcombe, who was abducted while waiting for a bus in 2003 and murdered, the register will establish a three tier system for publicly reporting information.

It will mean Queenslanders will be able to access a searchable database and apply for images of child sex offenders who live in their area.

Images and details of offenders who have failed to comply with their reporting obligations and whose whereabouts are unknown will also be available through a publicly available website.

Additionally, parents will be able to apply to police to find out whether someone having unsupervised contact with their child is a reportable offender.

The scheme will be administered by Queensland Police with safeguards put in place to prevent the misuse of information, the government said.

Premier David Crisafulli made the announcement at the Liberal National Party annual convention in Brisbane on Sunday, saying the law change will 'arm parents with information to make decisions for the safety of their children'.

'Monsters cannot be allowed to lurk in the darkness, Daniel's Law will help protect children who can't protect themselves,' he told reporters on Sunday.

'Everything we do is about driving down the number of victims of crime and this will help prevent innocent children falling prey to predators.'

More details are set to be released in the coming days.

The proposal for the register has been controversial.

Queensland Council for Civil Liberties president Michael Cope said the new law could do more harm than good as offenders names are often concealed to protect their victims.

'The Council accepts that it is a fundamental human right of all persons particularly children to be protected from sexual assault. However, proposals such as Daniel's law are most likely to have the opposite effect and do harm to innocent people such as victims,' he said earlier this year.

'Given that the overwhelming majority of sex offenders are known to or related to their victims, the first people likely to be harmed by the publication of the names of sex offenders are the victims who may well be identified.'

Mr Cope said laws that focus on stranger danger could also create a false sense of security with familiar people, which may expose children to risk.

He also pointed towards public registers of sex offenders such as Megan's Law in the United States which have yielded mixed results in whether they lead to significant reductions in recidivism.

Getting Erin's Law passed and taught in schools addresses the issue with predators being known to the victim by teaching what is good-touch and bad-touch; who to tell and how to tell, and that 90% of abusers are known to their victims.

Erin’s law has been passed in 38 states in the US, Ontario, Canada and Kerala, India.

Skybound Gymnastics owner and coach Wei Jun Lee charged with sexual abuse of teenager

The club has now been closed.

A gymnastics club owner and coach has been charged with the sexual abuse of a teenager, with the sports’ governing body announcing the immediate closure of the Gold Coast gym.

Wei Jun Lee, 32, allegedly sexually touched a teenager in a hotel in NSW earlier this year.

The teenager attended Skybound Gymnastics in Burleigh Heads which was run by Lee.

Police began investigating the alleged incident in June.

On Thursday Lee was extradited to Sydney and charged with intentionally sexually touching a child over 10 and under 16 years.

In a statement Gymnastics Australia and Gymnastics Queensland said it was aware of the investigation and that a provisional action had been issued against Lee.

Skybound Gymnastics would be ceasing all operations “effective immediately”, the statement said.

“The safety and wellbeing of children and young people in our sport is our highest priority.”

“Gymnastics in Australia has zero tolerance for any behaviours that puts members or children at risk.

“We are committed to upholding the highest standards of safeguarding and integrity across all levels of sport.”

Originally from Wellington, New Zealand, Lee set up Skybound Gymnastics in 2019 after moving to Queensland from NSW.

There he worked as a tumbling program leader at Sydney Gymnastics and Aquatics Centre for a year and a half before running the gymnastics program at PCYC Auburn in Lidcombe.

A testimonial on the Skybound Gymnastics website described Lee as an “incredibly talented, natural coach, who is always willing to contribute his creative and innovative coaching methods into any gymnastics discipline”.

Skybound Gymnastics offered classes and holiday camps for children aged 2 to 18.

The gym described itself as a “community-focused” club that was “revolutionising the sport of tumbling and trampolining in Queensland”.

Lee was refused bail and appeared in Bail Division Court 7 on Friday.

He was formally refused bail to appear before Blacktown Local Court on Monday.

CSA in the USA > Oregon man get 40 years for raping two kids and a dog; El teacher get 215 years for decades of CSA on CA; Plea Deal includes surgical castration in LA

Man who raped 2 children, sexually abused dog gets 40 years in prison

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — An Oregon City man who was convicted of raping two children and sexually assaulting a dog was sentenced on Thursday.

Edward Jones was sentenced to 40 years in prison after being found guilty of the multiple instances of sexual abuse and possessing “a huge trove of child pornography,” the Clackamas County District Attorney’s Office said.

“The victims are now 15 and 12. The sexual abuse of the younger child began at age three to four years old,” the DA’s office said. “Investigators discovered more than 10,000 images of child pornography in Jones’ possession including a video of him having sex with the older victim.”

The mother of the two children was allegedly aware of the sexual abuse. After being charged with two counts of first-degree criminal mistreatment last month, she has a pending court case against her, officials said.

As for Jones, he pleaded guilty to two counts of first-degree rape, two counts of second-degree rape, first- and second-degree sodomy, two counts of sexually assaulting an animal and three counts of first-degree encouraging sexual abuse of a child.

Elementary teacher jailed for 215 years after filming himself sexually abusing students

A former elementary school teacher has been sentenced to 215 years to life in prison after he admitted to filming himself sexually abusing students.

The sentenced was handed down on Friday after Kim Wilson, 64, pleaded guilty to nine counts of committing lewd acts on a child in February. Wilson was a former teacher at Del Paso Heights Elementary School.

Prosecutors said he confessed to having multiple victims. The Sacramento District Attorney's office said Wilson had set up a broadcasting club for students, with its own designated room.

He would take female students to the room alone and commit sexual acts on them, often capturing photos or recording the incidents, the office said in a statement.

While most of the sexual assaults took place in the school broadcasting room, some victims were also assaulted at Wilson's home during events he hosted. After learning about the sexual assaults, Sacramento police detectives conducted a search of Wilson's home.

According to the Sacramento District Attorney's office, authorities discovered a number of disturbing items including: "child-sized sex toys, child-sized artificial genitalia, and a child-sized torso with artificial genitalia. Additionally, detectives located a substantial amount of VHS tapes, DVDs and other digital storage devices containing videos depicting Wilson sexually assaulting his students. The videos depicted conduct spanning multiple years with numerous students."

Multiple decades is more like it!

"The recorded content also showed Wilson forcing students to look into the camera while saying and depicting sexual acts," the District Attorney's office added.

Under California law, Wilson will be eligible for parole after serving 20 years of his 215-year-to-life sentence. According to court documents, Wilson has been behind bars since his arrest in late January 2023.

He ought never to see the light of day again!

Taking into account time already served, he'll need to complete 17 more years before becoming eligible for parole.

Wilson and his previous employer, the Twin Rivers Unified School District, are facing a another lawsuit filed in June 2023 by a female student who claimed she was "physically and sexually assaulted, sexually harassed, molested, threatened and intimidated" by the now-incarcerated educator during school hours on the Del Paso Heights Elementary School campus, according to the complaint obtained by USA TODAY.

The same case accuses the Twin Rivers Unified School District of "mishandling student complaints and failing to document, investigate and report complaints" of sexual misconduct by the now-former district employee.

The student, who was just seven years old at the time, claimed the abuse took place when she was in second grade during the 2013-2014 school year, according to the complaint.

The lawsuit also alleges that Wilson frequently gave "frontal hugs to female students on school grounds" and regularly pulled the accuser and other girls "out of their scheduled class periods and/or recess periods" to invite them into a "secluded and unsupervised broadcast room" on the elementary school's campus.

Attorney Lauren Cerri, who represented a different student in a similar lawsuit against Wilson and the district, told The Sacramento Bee, "Sadly there's a repeated pattern of schools putting their image and reputations over the safety of students, turning a blind eye to complaints and ignoring red flags."

School and District administrators need to pay a price for this!

Convicted sex offender in Louisiana agrees to be castrated by state: reports

(NewsNation) — A convicted sex offender in Louisiana has been sentenced to physical and chemical castration as part of a plea deal, according to reports.

The district attorney for Vernon Parish in Louisiana confirmed the man’s sentence to People and local outlet KPLC 7.

On Tuesday, Thomas Allen McCartney, 37, pleaded guilty to attempted first-degree rape of a child under the age of 13. The guilty plea concerns an arrest in 2023 after McCartney was caught “engaging in sexual contact” with a 7-year-old girl, according to reports.

McCartney has a history of child sex abuse, with a conviction for aggravated rape in 2011. KPLC reported that he was also arrested in 2006 and 2010 on sexual abuse charges against minors.

In addition to castration, McCartney’s plea deal includes 40 years in state prison.

“This is a horrific crime that never should have happened,” Vernon Parish District Attorney Terry Lambright said in a statement obtained by KPLC. “Thomas McCartney is a predator that needs to be locked away from others in our community.”

In 2024, Louisiana became the first state to allow surgical castration to be used as a punishment for sex crimes against minors. Surgical castration, unlike chemical castration which is achieved via medications which decrease sex drive, is an invasive procedure which can involve removal of the testicles.

“This is a consequence,” Republican state Sen. Valarie Hodges said during a committee hearing on the bill in April 2024, the Associated Press reported. “It’s a step over and beyond just going to jail and getting out.”
