France charges ex-wife of top IS group official with crimes against humanity
France has charged the ex-wife of a top Islamic State official with crimes against humanity on suspicion of enslaving a teenage Yazidi girl in Syria, French media reported.

A woman identified as Sonia M., the former wife of the jihadist group’s head of external operations Abdelnasser Benyoucef, was charged on March 14, Le Parisien said Saturday.
A Yazidi woman, who was 16 when she was forced into slavery by Benyoucef, accused Sonia M. of raping her twice and knowing that her husband was raping her, the report said.
The woman, now 25, said she was held for more than a month in 2015 in Syria, where she was not allowed to eat, drink or shower without Sonia M.’s permission.
Sonia M. denied the allegations against her in a March 14 interview with French investigators, saying “only one rape” had been committed by her former husband.
The teenager “left her room freely, ate what she wanted, went to the toilet when she needed to”, she said in her interview, seen by AFP.
Sonia M.’s lawyer Nabil Boudi slammed the charges as “opportunistic accusations”, saying that prosecutors were seeking “to make her responsible for the most serious crimes, because the courts have not managed to apprehend the real perpetrators”.
An arrest warrant has been issued for Benyoucef, according to a source close to the investigation.
France launched an investigation in 2016 into genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes committed against ethnic and religious minorities in Iraq and Syria since 2012.
The probe has focused on crimes suffered by members of the Yazidi and Christian communities as well as members of the Sheitat tribe, according to France’s PNAT anti-terror unit.
“The aim is to document these crimes and identify the French perpetrators who belong to the Islamic State organisation,” PNAT told AFP.

Belagavi, A couple was arrested after a 28-year-old married woman accused them of allegedly forcing her to convert to Islam by threatening to circulate her private photographs, police said on Monday.
The victim also alleged that she was raped by the man, Rafik, in front of his wife on several occasions when she was staying with them at a rented house since 2021, police said.
According to the police, the woman also alleged in her complaint that this month, the couple forced her to wear a burqa instead of “kumkum” and also forced her to perform namaaz five times in a day.
Kumkum is a red dot that appears on the forehead of some Hindu women. It is made primarily from turmeric and has some religious symbolism involving the goddess Devi.
Namaaz - a prayer prescribed by Muslim law.
Rafik also threatened to circulate her intimate pictures to her family members and others if she did not divorce her husband, convert to Islam and live with them, she said in the complaint.
The victim got married in 2013 and has two children. In 2020, she met Rafik at her husband’s grocery store which he visited frequently and later befriended her. They also got involved in a physical relationship, which her husband got to know later. This led to a quarrel and she left her husband’s house, a senior police officer said.
After a gap of about two months, she returned to her husband’s house on the condition that she would end her relationship with Rafik, but when she conveyed that to him, he started threatening her with her private pictures, he said.
The woman continued to stay in touch with Rafik but when her husband got to know about it, they had a quarrel and she left her husband’s house and began staying with the accused and his wife, the officer added. The victim has been staying with the couple since 2021 and she alleged that the accused raped her multiple times in front of his wife, the officer said….

On Friday (26th April), a minor Muslim boy along with his two friends killed a 35-year-old Hindu woman in the Jahangirpuri area of Northwest Delhi.
As per reports, the accused used to stalk the victim’s 16-year-old daughter when she went for tuition. When the girl informed her family, they filed a complaint with the police.
According to the victim’s family, the police failed to ake [sic] strict action against the Muslim boy and he continued to harass the minor Hindu girl. Forced by circumstances, the family sent their 16-year-old daughter to a hostel.
On Friday (26th Friday) afternoon, the minor Muslim boy and his two accomplices went to the victim’s house to talk to her. When the Hindu woman refused to entertain the trio, the primary accused shot her dead and fled the crime scene.
The Muslim boy has been absconding ever since the murder. The victim was admitted to the Babu Jagjivan Ram Hospital in Delhi, where she was declared dead on arrival….
Because girls and women should always be invisible in Islam...
