I have read many articles from all over the world on this abuse and posted several. There is something utterly missing from any of the articles I've come across - any mention of God! No-one seemed concerned that they had sinned against God. No-one seemed to recognize that what evil they did to the children, they did also to Christ. "Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me." Matt 25:40.
One thing is certain, the pedophiles have/had no relationship with Jesus Christ. It's questionable whether the Bishops and Archbishops who enabled those priests have/had an actual relationship with Him. Certainly, there is no sign of the fear of God in any of their actions, or any compulsion to tell the truth as would be the case if the Holy Spirit were present.
It seems the latter groups were far more interested in protecting the church than in getting the wayward priests and the church right with God. Could it be they were worshiping their idol - the church?
But there is some good news. Two weeks ago, Pope Francis put things in perspective with a remarkably blunt and candid homily that gives one hope that maybe the Catholic Church can get right with God.
