Des Moines, Iowa, an 18-year-old Fort Dodge woman was arrested Friday on child pornography charges.

Kelliann Beals allegedly created a fake social media account that portrayed the name and photographs of the victim, a Fort Dodge girl, according to a Fort Dodge Police news release.

Beals allegedly possessed several sexually explicit photos of the victim and then put the photos on the fake social media account, according to the news release.

The fake account has since been seized by the Fort Dodge/Webster County Cyber Crimes Unit.

Beals is charged with one count of possession of child pornography, an aggravated misdemeanor, and one count of disseminating child pornography, a class D felony, according to the news release.

She was booked Friday into the Webster County Jail.

Of course, this is not your typical child porn case. This is more like a sextortion case except it doesn't appear that Beals was extorting her victim but just punishing her for whatever reason. It's good to see police taking this kind of behavior seriously and I hope they send a message to kids that this is not acceptable.

PHOTOGRAPHER & KIDS RADIO SHOW VOLUNTEER FACING CHILD PORNOGRAPHY CHARGES

WPVI

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A Philadelphia photographer who volunteered at a kids radio show is accused of taking sexually explicit images of children in public places in the city and surrounding areas.

Mark Wilkens, 57, was arrested on Friday morning and is charged with multiple charges including manufacturing child pornography and possession of child pornography.

The U.S. Attorney's Office said Wilkens was working as a volunteer photographer for radio station WXPN when the incidents occurred between August 2010 and July 2015.

According to a news release issued Friday morning, Wilkens allegedly "photographed prepubescent children at public events to capture and attempt to capture sexually explicit images."

Wilkens had a role with the station's highly-regarded Kids Corner radio show where one online review called him the "trusted" Kids Corner photographer.

"He used his position with WXPN to have access to children and to photograph children at these Kids Corner children's events," said Assistant U.S. Attorney Michelle Rotella.

The events were held at various locations such as Camden Children's Garden. Rotella says Wilkens focused on kids ages two to 10 years old.

"Some of these events involved water so the kids would be in bathing suits and the parents would change children's diapers or take their bathing suits off, and he would take these sexually explicit photographs," said Rotella.

WXPN released the following statement on Friday that reads in part:

"We are shocked and appalled to learn that a photographer who volunteered at WXPN from time to time has been charged with this crime."

The incidents allegedly happened on the following dates and locations:

Aug. 19, 2010: Morris Arboretum at 100 E. Northwestern Ave., Philadelphia

July 26, 2014: Camden Children's Garden, 3 Riverside Drive, Camden, New Jersey

Aug. 14, 2014: Morris Arboretum at 100 E. Northwestern Ave., Philadelphia

May 2, 2015: Franklin Institute, 222 N. 20th St., Philadelphia

July 4, 2015: 6500 Rising Sun Ave., Philadelphia

If convicted on all six counts, Wilkens faces a minimum of 15 years in prison.

U.S. Attorney’s Office
Western District of Missouri

SPRINGFIELD, MO—Tammy Dickinson, United States Attorney for the Western District of Missouri, announced that a prior sex offender in Springfield, Mo., pleaded guilty in federal court today to receiving and distributing child pornography.

Gary Thomas Sheldon, 52, of Springfield, pleaded guilty before U.S. Magistrate Judge David P. Rush to the charge contained in a July 21, 2015, federal indictment.

Gary Sheldon
By pleading guilty today, Sheldon admitted that he received and distributed child pornography over the Internet from Oct. 5, 2014, to July 15, 2015. Sheldon, a registered sex offender, was convicted in federal court of possessing child pornography in January 2001. As a result, Sheldon will be subject to a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years in federal prison without parole.

According to court documents, law enforcement officers received a cybertip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, which had received the tip from an adult pornography Web site where Sheldon had uploaded an image of child pornography. Law enforcement officers executed a search warrant at Sheldon’s residence on July 15, 2015. Sheldon’s desktop computer and cell phone were seized, and investigators discovered images of child pornography on both devices.

Under federal statutes, Sheldon is subject to a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years in federal prison without parole, up to a sentence of 40 years in federal prison without parole, plus a fine up to $250,000. A sentencing hearing will be scheduled after the completion of a pre-sentence investigation by the United States Probation Office.

This case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Ami Harshad Miller. It was investigated by the FBI, the Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Southwest Missouri Cybercrime Task Force.
