A Stockton man was sentenced to 105 years to life in prison for 35 counts of sexual abuse against a child, the San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office said.
Antonio Hernandez, 59, was convicted of multiple crimes relating to the sexual abuse of a girl that began when she was under 7 years old, prosecutors said Thursday. The abuse continued for 5 years until she came forward in 2023.
“The courage of this young survivor in confronting her abuser is truly inspiring, and her bravery has ensured that this predator will spend the rest of his life behind bars,” said District Attorney Ron Freitas in a statement released by his office.
Hudspeth man gets 50-year prison term for sexually abusing girls for more than a decade
A Hudspeth County man was sentenced to 50 years in prison for the sexual abuse of two 6-year-old girls, authorities said.
Valentin Juárez Juárez, 33, was sentenced June 23 to 50 years in prison on each of two counts of continuous sexual abuse of a child, El Paso District Attorney James Montoya said in a news release. Montoya is the district attorney for the 34th Judicial District, overseeing criminal cases in El Paso, Hudspeth, and Culberson counties.
The sentences were handed down by 394th District Court Judge Monty Kimball in Hudspeth County. The sentences will be served concurrently. Juárez was facing up to life in prison.
“The horrific abuse that these victims suffered is unimaginable, and one of the worst cases of child sex abuse in Hudspeth County,” Montoya said in a statement. “Thankfully, these victims will not have to recount what happened to them publicly to a group of strangers. This 50-year sentence will ensure the perpetrator is nowhere near the victims or the public, potentially for the rest of his natural life.”
Assistant District Attorneys Lisa Clausen and Eric Willard prosecuted the case against Juárez.
Juárez abused girls for over a decade
The girls were 6 years old when Juárez "began to abuse them sexually, physically, and psychologically," the news release states. The abuse continued for more than a decade.
The abuse stopped after one of the girls, now a teenager, told a family member in August 2022, the news release states. The abuse was reported to the Hudspeth County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies arrested Juárez in March 2023. Juárez has remained jailed since his arrest.
