Superior Diocese releases names of clergy with credible claims

of child sex abuse

The Catholic Diocese of Superior has released names of almost two dozen clergy that it says have had credible claims of sexually abusing minors made against them, including one placed on leave from the ministry as recently as September.

The diocese published 23 names of alleged abusers on its website Tuesday evening. Many of the allegations refer to abuse that took place 30 years ago or more. However, records show Father James Bartelme, 71, is on administrative leave after being removed Sept. 8 for alleged abuse that took place in Superior from 1990 to 1991.

The website for the diocese shows Bartelme retired in 2016. He was assigned to parishes in Chetek, Barron, Cameron and Strickland. Online court records show no charges have been filed against Bartelme.

The diocese said the list stems from three separate reviews of clergy files, including one analysis by private security consulting firm Defenbaugh & Associates, Inc. Bishop James P. Powers of the Catholic Diocese of Superior apologized on behalf of the church and said he prays for healing for survivors of abuse, their families and friends.

"I wish we could go back in time and undo all of the hurt and pain, the sins of the past. But we cannot," said Bishop James P. Powers in a letter to parishioners. "What we can do is learn from the past and do everything in our power to never repeat the abuse. I firmly believe that the Diocese of Superior is clearly on the right path in protecting our children."

Maybe, but how long is that path? Are they still protecting the church as priority one?

The list of the accused includes priests and other faith leaders who have served with the diocese, including credible allegations at other dioceses outside Wisconsin.

Nate’s Mission, an advocacy group seeking to end clergy abuse, questioned the legitimacy of the list released by the Superior Diocese. Peter Isley, the nonprofit’s program director, said such a list is only as truthful as the people compiling it. He criticized the timing of the list’s release after 5 p.m. on a Tuesday before a holiday weekend.

"That alone should be of concern because that's not taking it very seriously," said Isley.

Isley said Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul needs to verify whether Superior’s list is accurate, as well as those published by the state’s four other dioceses.

"He needs to get in there into that diocese, and they should cooperate with him," Isley said. "They have no excuse not to cooperate anymore."

Last year, Kaul launched a statewide independent review of reported abuse by clergy and leaders of faith organizations. In April of this year, Kaul said officials had received 204 reports that led to criminal charges in one case. The list of names from the Catholic Diocese of Superior brings the total number of individuals accused statewide to nearly 180. The Wisconsin Department of Justice didn’t return a request for comment.

Dan Blank, administrative services director with the diocese, said the diocese is regularly in touch with the Attorney General’s office. Even so, Blank said the diocese didn’t provide a copy of the list to state justice officials prior to its publication. The diocese also hasn’t released its files to the state. Blank cited issues surrounding separation of church and state, adding that law enforcement must establish probable cause to secure a subpoena for any records.

Last year, Kaul said not all of the state’s five Catholic dioceses were cooperating with the statewide inquiry. In June 2021, the Archdiocese of Milwaukee challenged a request for documents as part of the review, saying it was "unreasonably broad" in scope. The diocese also challenged Kaul’s authority to launch the investigation and raised concerns that the review only targeted the Catholic Church.

The Superior Diocese was the last of the state’s five dioceses to release names of clergy with credible allegations against them. The diocese launched its review in 2019 and hired Defenbaugh & Associates.

Blank said the firm provided a report to the diocese in December that year. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the diocese began an internal analysis of the findings with its abuse review board to determine a legal standard for naming individuals with long-standing abuse reports dating back many years. Blank said the diocese finalized its research and documentation over the last several months before releasing the names.

"It wasn't as simple as just taking (the independent consultant’s) report and saying, 'Here's who they think we should list,'" said Blank. "The Bishop had to review them personally. He had to go through the process…and that took a lot of time."

Blank said the board’s review continued off and on during the pandemic, examining 40 to 50 cases flagged for potential abuse. Even so, he said there were no cases that Defenbaugh identified that weren’t reflected by the diocese’s list.

In the case of Father Bartelme, Blank said the retired priest was placed on administrative leave last fall, noting the diocese received reports from middle-aged adults around 2014. The reports referred to an incident when they were teenagers. He said the diocese didn’t refer the case to authorities because the victim and witness did not want to involve law enforcement. Blank added Bishops Peter Christensen and Powers struggled with how to handle the case based on the facts and Bartleme’s version of events. Bartleme didn’t return a request for comment.

"The Bishops felt that he was safe to minister despite the known report. Let's just say there were precautions and supervisions put in place," said Blank, who didn't divulge specific examples.

Blank said naming Bartleme was long overdue, adding there’s never been a safer time at the diocese. He said there’s been a dramatic culture shift to embrace more openness and transparency, crediting victims for their bravery in highlighting abuse.

"If a fresh report came in, there would be an immediate administrative leave for an internal investigation and cooperation with law enforcement depending on the nature of the report," Blank said. "If there was a report of a current minor, we have mandatory reporting rules to make a report to law enforcement immediately."

Blank said he’s aware of no other reports of abuse, although the diocese is prepared to receive any additional allegations that may result from its list.

Nate’s Mission claims that dioceses are still withholding names of alleged abusers, including 69 names in addition to 48 that have already been published by the Diocese of Green Bay. The group turned over whistleblower documents to the Wisconsin Department of Justice this year that Isely alleges demonstrate a systematic cover-up of abuse at each of the state’s five dioceses.

"To a victim, they can often recover from the assault and the abuse itself, it often takes a long time," said Isely. "But, the thing that is most difficult, that is an unending wound, is the cover-up of these crimes."

Blank said the Superior Diocese didn't cover up reports of abuse, noting there wasn't as much public pressure to disclose abuse in the past.

The Wisconsin Department of Justice has encouraged victims to report abuse committed in any religious organization. The department has said any information provided by victims will not be shared or acted on without their consent. Those who report abuse can remain anonymous, and people can make reports online or by calling 1-877-222-2620.

The DOJ plans to issue a report of its findings once the statewide review is complete.

Polish church defends Pope John Paul II’s record on child sex abuse

NOV 21, 2022 |
Notes from Poland

The Catholic church in Poland has defended Polish Pope John Paul II’s response to child sex abuse during his pontificate. It says “media attacks” claiming he was negligent are an “attempt to undermine his authority and question his sanctity” because his ideas “do not correspond to contemporary ideologies promoting hedonism”.

John Paul II – born Karol Wojtyła served as pope from 1978 until his death in 2005. He remains a widely revered figure in Poland not only for his spiritual leadership but also for the role he played in helping bring about the end of communist rule in his homeland and the wider region.

However, recent years have seen growing questions over his response to sexual abuse of minors by clergy – including senior church figures – during his pontificate.

In 2020, the Vatican itself released a report showing that John Paul II had promoted Theodore McCarrick to be archbishop of Washington and a cardinal in 2001 despite claims of sexual misconduct against him. In 2019, McCarrick was found guilty of sexual crimes by a church investigation and dismissed from the priesthood.

Cardinal Stanisław Dziwisz, who for decades served as personal secretary to John Paul II, has also been accused of ignoring cases of sexual abuse. However, a Vatican investigation this year cleared Dziwisz of wrongdoing during his time as archbishop of Kraków.

A number of other Polish bishops have, though, faced punishment from the Vatican in recent years for their negligence in responding to cases of abuse.

In a statement issued last week, the Polish Episcopal Conference (KEP) – the central organ of the Catholic Church in Poland – noted that there are “ever more questions in the public sphere about the attitude of John Paul II towards the tragedy of sexual abuse of minors and vulnerable people”.

It added that there is now “a kind of fashion” for claiming that John Paul II “did not approach such acts properly and did little to solve this problem, or even concealed it”. These “fit in with the attempts to undermine the authority of John Paul II, and even to question his sanctity”.

The “media attack” on the former pope – who was made a saint in 2014 – is motivated by the fact that “the theology…preached by him does not correspond to contemporary ideologies promoting hedonism, relativism and moral nihilism”, continued the statement.

The KEP pointed out that in 1983 John Paul II introduced a new code of canon law that explicitly obliged members of the clergy guilty of sexual abuse to be punished and then took further steps in the 1990s to ensure greater protection of children and young people.

Then, in 2001, he issued an apostolic letter, Sacramentorum sanctitatis tutela, that brought jurisdiction over cases of sexual abuse of minors by clergy under the direct control of the Vatican. “This unprecedented decision showed that John Paul II realised the scale and global nature of the crisis,” wrote the KEP.

And yet, the church tried for years after that to claim the Vatican had no jurisdiction over individual dioceses and orders.

“From the actions of John Paul II in the face of the crisis there emerges the image of a shepherd who courageously and decisively wanted to face it…[and] also help society to counter the scourge of sexual crimes against minors and the vulnerable,” concluded the Polish episcopate.

In response to the statement, OKO.press, a liberal investigative journalism and fact-checking outlet, claimed that the points made in defence of John Paul II contained numerous “manipulations” and that the former pope had in reality done little to deal with the problem of abuse in the church.

Archbishop says revulsion over scale of child sex abuse is 'justified'

of child sexual abuse. John McElroy

The anger and revulsion over recent revelations of “horrendous sexual abuse of children” by members of the clergy or religious communities and the “whitewashing of those crimes” is understandable and entirely justified, Archbishop Dermot Farrell has said.

The Archbishop of Dublin made his comments at Blackrock parish in the wake of revelations of child sexual abuse at a number of Catholic schools run by the Spiritan order in Ireland.

“Too often those in leadership in dioceses and religious orders failed to safeguard those entrusted to their care, whether through ignorance, misplaced loyalty or a sense of self-preservation,” Archbishop Farrell said.

He said it was right that the truth of these crimes comes to light so that the abuse itself can be named, the pain, injustice, and offence to the integrity and dignity of the person accepted, and the long journey of healing undertaken and supported.

The total number of Spiritans and staff members against whom allegations have been made now stands at 78. Four of those alleged to have abused are still alive. Almost 300 people have contacted the congregation which has spent more than €5m (£4.4m) in settlements since 2004.

Spiritan Provincial, Fr Martin Kelly, told RTE News that a number of people had come forward with fresh allegations following an RTE Radio 1 documentary “Blackrock Boys” which aired on 7 November and told the story of two siblings, Mark and David Ryan and their abuse by Fr Tom O’Byrne at Blackrock College in the 1970s and 1980s.

“What was done to you as innocent children was cruel and indefensible. We, as Spiritans, are ashamed,” Fr Kelly told a press conference in Dublin.

Mark Vincent Healy, who was abused by two priests during his time at St Mary’s College in Dublin between 1969 and 1973 when he was aged between nine and 12, has called for an independent inquiry to determine the scale of abuse suffered by pupils in Spiritan schools.

Some of the abusers were sent overseas on mission. Mr Healy said: “Only an inquiry can determine the numbers affected.”

More than 5,000 students today attend schools linked to the Spiritan Congregation, formerly known as the Holy Ghost Fathers, including Blackrock College in Dublin, St Michael’s College in Dublin, St Mary’s College in Dublin and Rockwell College in Co Tipperary.

Minister for Education, Norma Foley, said the Government is looking at a “survivor-led” inquiry. Meanwhile police inquiries into allegations made since the documentary was broadcast are ongoing.

British prosecutors charge Kevin Spacey with 7 additional sexual assaults

Nov. 16 (UPI) -- British law enforcement authorities have filed seven new criminal charges against actor Kevin Spacey -- including three counts of sexual assault -- in connection with misconduct that allegedly occurred around 20 years ago.

The special crime division of the UK's Crown Prosecution Services issued a statement Wednesday spelling out the charges against Spacey, which stemmed from accusations leveled by one victim between 2001 and 2004.

Rosemary Ainslie, who heads the unit, wrote in the release that one of the charges against the two-time Academy Award winner is related to his "causing a person to engage in sexual activity without their consent."

The statement also noted that the Metropolitan Police was involved in collecting evidence as part of the investigation.

The latest legal trouble for Spacey comes as he was already facing trial in London next summer over the alleged sexual assault of three men, charges to which he pleaded not guilty in July.

The new criminal complaint was set to be mailed to Spacey this week along with a summons to appear in a London court to answer to the charges.

The 63-year-old American actor became a steady presence on the British arts scene between 2004 to 2015 after he took over as creative director of the Old Vic theater in London.

Nearly a decade earlier, Spacey won his first Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of Verbal Kint in "The Usual Suspects" in 1995. In 1999, he won his second Oscar, this time for Best Actor in the film "American Beauty."

Despite the accolades, Spacey has faced numerous public controversies and multiple sexual misconduct investigations in the United States dating as far back as the mid-1980s.

After a scandal emerged in 2012, Spacey's popular show "House of Cards" was forced to shut down production during its sixth and final season.

More recently, a federal jury in Manhattan last month found that Spacey was not liable for battery in a civil action brought by actor Anthony Rapp, who alleged that Spacey inappropriately climbed on top of him in 1986 when he was just 14 years old.

‘Flurry’ of sex abuse suits set to be filed in NY, including

by Trump rape accuser E. Jean Carroll

Journalist E. Jean Carroll is poised to file suit against Donald Trump for allegedly raping her, as the Adult Survivors Act goes into effect Thursday.

A “flurry” of sexual abuse claims are expected to be filed Thursday as New York’s Adult Survivors Act goes into effect — including a lawsuit from writer E. Jean Carroll accusing former President Donald Trump of rape.

The law, signed by Gov. Kathy Hochul on May 24, allows adult survivors of sexual abuse to file suit — even if their claims are outside the statute of limitations — during a one-year “look-back window” that opens at midnight Thanksgiving Day.

“The opening of the ASA is a small correction in the statute of limitation laws that always favored the powerful and the predators,” said lawyer Carrie Goldberg, who will be taking on at least a couple dozen of the cases.

Goldberg — who is partnering on the cases with attorney Susan Crumiller, a close friend and fellow sexual abuse survivor — said the window opening on Thanksgiving is “apropos,” for victims grateful to be able to seek justice in court.

“This law is the debt that is owed to victims,” she said.

Lawyers for Elle magazine columnist E. Jean Carroll said last week that they will file a battery lawsuit against 76-year-old Trump on Thursday under the new law. The suit alleges Trump raped Carroll in a Bergdorf Goodman fitting room in the early 1990s.

Carroll already has a civil claim pending against Trump in Manhattan federal court for allegedly defaming her when he called her a liar and said her accusations were “a complete con job.”

But with the ASA, she will now be able to sue the ex-president over the alleged attack specifically, adding to the slew of legal cases he is currently embroiled in.

The law mirrors the 2019 New York Child Victims Act which also opened up a window for survivors of childhood abuse to sue their assailants — or the institutions that protected them — regardless of when the abuse occurred.

There is much more on this story on the NY Post.

Gov. Charlie Baker has pardoned the two Amirault siblings who were convicted of child sex abuse in the 1980s in the long-questioned Fells Acre daycare case.

Gerald Amirault, 68, and his sister, Cheryl Amirault Lefave, 65, were accused of sexually assaulting over a dozen children at their Malden daycare in 1984, but have always maintained their innocence.

The case has long been controversial because of questionable techniques investigators used to elicit accusations from the children.

Amirault was convicted in 1986, and spent 18 years in prison before being paroled in 2004, according to GBH. Amirault Lefave was convicted in 1987 and served eight years in prison and 10 more on probation.

Sugar Land man handed prison sentence for child sex abuse

FORT BEND COUNTY, Texas – A Sugar Land man was sentenced for child sex abuse offenses he committed in 2018, the Fort Bend County Distrct Attorney’s Office said.

Thi Nguyen, 50, was convicted this month of one count of sexual assault of a child and once(sic) count of indecency with a child.

Evidence presented by Assistant District Attorneys Charann Thompson and Alycia Curtis revealed that Nguyen sexually abused a teen shortly after moving to the Sugar Land area in 2018. The jury also heard testimony from another victim the defendant sexually assaulted out of state nearly two decades earlier, when she was only 13 years old.

A jury sentenced Nguyen to serve the maximum 20 years in prison for the sexual assault charge and 10 years for the indecency charge.

Are these sentences consecutive or concurrent?

“The child victim in this case lost everything as a consequence of coming forward, and this verdict does not repair that,” said lead prosecutor Charann Thompson. “But it does make Mr. Nguyen bear a consequence for his choices, which I hope feels like some measure of justice to her.”

What does this mean, "The child victim, in this case, lost everything"?

District Attorney Brian Middleton added, “The verdict and sentence reflect the severity of the crime and the jury’s assessment of the weight of the evidence. Our office will continue to seek justice for victims of abuse and ensure that abusers are punished proportionately to the harm they create. We will speak for victims and ensure that justice is done.”

Nguyen was tried in the 400th District Court before Presiding Judge Tameika Carter. Nguyen must serve half of his sentence before he can be considered for parole.

Approaching Sodom > As the Western World recklessly approaches Sodom, Russia steps back from the edge

..

Apart from its proxy war with America and NATO in Ukraine, Russia has been slowly winding down the influence of LGBTQs. This is the opposite of most western countries where perverse sexual behaviour is protected and encouraged. Western countries are abhorred by this behaviour, but I wonder where God is in this issue? What do you think?

The mood is surprisingly upbeat at "Draglesque Brunch", given they are facing new repressive legislation that could see their shows banned and the performers fined or potentially jailed.

"How gorgeous! How fun! The vibe is super warm ... there's a river of mimosas flowing in there already. So my dears, let's enjoy today's wonderful brunch!" says the host, who goes by the stage name of Margot Mae Hunt.

Let's eat, drink, and be merry, for tomorrow....

In a white gown and a wavy blond wig with yellow and lilac feathers, Mae Hunt, as well as the others in the green room, is relishing the moment -- because what comes next is anyone's guess.

Russian lawmakers are on the verge of widening a package of notorious legislation from 2013 that was designed to shield children from various forms of what authorities deemed "gay propaganda".

I wonder what AFP calls it. They don't seem to say here.

The initial laws passed by Russia's conservative parliament came amid deepening ties between President Vladimir Putin and the Orthodox church, which promoted hardline social values and cautioned against Western influence.

But this latest round also applies to adults and observers say the rules could impinge upon everything from books and films to social media posts and even drag shows.

Women publically flogged for leaving their homes with the wrong man

A total of 19 men and women have been flogged in public as judicial punishment in Afghanistan's Tajar province, the Afghan Supreme Court said Saturday.

Archive - Members of the Taliban's security forces. - SAIFURAHMAN SAFI / XINHUA NEWS /

The convicts have been convicted of crimes such as adultery, leaving their father's or husband's house with another man or theft. Each of them received 39 lashes at a ceremony held a week ago in the provincial capital, Taluqan.

The public punishment is intended as a warning to the criminals and a lesson to the guilty, according to the statement of the Supreme Court, controlled like all other Afghan institutions by the Taliban.

Taliban leader Mullah Hebatullah Ajundzada recently ordered Afghanistan's judges to fully apply Sharia -- or Islamic law -- against those who commit a range of crimes that could be punishable even by public amputations or stoning for offenses such as robbery, kidnapping or sedition.

It is not the first time that the Taliban leader has defended the need to "totally" apply Sharia law in Afghanistan since the fundamentalists took power in August 2021 following the flight of President Ashraf Ghani.

The fundamentalists have installed a government marked by a lack of women and representatives of other political and ethnic groups, while facing domestic and international criticism for limiting the rights of the population, especially women and girls.

India: 50-y/o Muslim poses as Hindu to lure a Hindu girl, molests her

NOV 22, 2022 11:00 AM
BY ROBERT SPENCER
Jihad watch

Why does this keep happening? Yes, sexual molestation happens all over. But this kind of story is seen on a not infrequent basis. Why? One reason may be because such treatment of infidel women is sanctioned in the Qur’an.

In France, a Muslim quoted Qur’an while raping his victim. A survivor of a Muslim rape gang in the UK has said that her rapists would quote the Qur’an to her, and believed their actions justified by Islam. Thus it came as no surprise when Muslim migrants in France raped a girl and videoed the rape while praising Allah and invoking the Qur’an. In India, a Muslim gave a Qur’an and a prayer rug to the woman he was holding captive and repeatedly raping. And the victim of an Islamic State jihadi rapist recalled: “He told me that according to Islam he is allowed to rape an unbeliever. He said that by raping me, he is drawing closer to God…He said that raping me is his prayer to God.”

Of course, it's not God he refers to but Allah, who is not God. This justification for raping an unbeliever was used frequently against Yazidi girls who were raped countless times by ISIS idiots.

This, I believe, is the basis of Pakistani grooming gangs all over England, who have raped thousands of young British girls. There is no minimum age for raping an unbeliever in the Quran, as long as you can lie on top of her without smothering her, you're good to go.

In India, a Muslim kidnapped and raped a 14-year-old Hindu girl, and forced her to read the Qur’an and Islamic prayers. In Pakistan, another Christian woman recounted that her rapist was also religious: “He threw me on the bed and started to rape me. He demanded I marry him and convert to Islam. I refused. I am not willing to deny Jesus and he said that if I would not agree he would kill me.” Rapists demanded that another girl’s family turn her over to them, claiming that she had recited the Islamic profession of faith during the rape and thus could not live among infidels.

The Qur’an teaches that Infidel women can be lawfully taken for sexual use (cf. its allowance for a man to take “captives of the right hand,” 4:3, 4:24, 23:1-6, 33:50, 70:30). The Qur’an says: “O Prophet, tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to bring down over themselves of their outer garments. That is more suitable that they will be known and not be abused. And ever is Allah Forgiving and Merciful.” (33:59) The implication there is that if women do not cover themselves adequately with their outer garments, they may be abused, and that such abuse would be justified.

However, anyone who points all this out will be excoriated as a “racist” and an “Islamophobe,” and accordingly ignored.

A 50-year-old Muslim Man introduces himself as Sachin Sharma,

molests a Hindu Girl

by Yukta Dawe,
NewsTrackLive,
November 21, 2022:

These days the trend of hiding their religion and committing crimes against women is increasing day by day. Another shocking incident comes to light in which a 50-year-old Muslim man was arrested in Kanpur for faking his identity to lure a Hindu girl from Bihar and there harassed her.

As per Kanpur Police, the 50-year-old man has been identified as Shahenshah Alam. Shahenshah Alam had allegedly befriended with the girl from Motihari district on Facebook. The man had introduced himself as Sachin Sharma instead of Shahenshah Alam and also posted a different picture on his social media account.

The victim came in contact with Shahenshah Alam a few months ago who had promised to marry her and get a job for her in Kanpur. According to her complaint, the girl from Bihar accused the 50-year-old of luring her by concealing his religious identity. The girl claimed that Alam asked her to visit him at a hotel in Kanpur’s Copperganj area. Shahenshah Alam was wearing a mask, switched off the light as soon he entered the hotel room and also tried to molest the girl. When the girl switched on the lights, she was shocked to see a 50-year-old man standing in front of her.

The victim immediately raised an alarm after which the hotel staff alerted the police.

Good for her, putting up a fight!

The Media is the Message > Musk Curbs CSE on Twitter, western media silent

The question here is, why did I have to get this story from India? Why are American MSM outlets not reporting this?

Killing two hashtags was needed to curb child exploitation on Twitter,

and it happened only after Elon Musk took over

Child Sexual Exploitation material being removed from Twitter

On November 20, it came to light that Twitter had killed two of the most used hashtags for child sexual exploitation-related content on the platform. A Human Trafficking Survivor Advocate and critic of child sexual exploitation (CSE) said that Twitter is taking child exploitation seriously. In a tweet, Eliza Bleu said, “Wow! The most popular hashtag used to sell child sexual abuse material on Twitter is almost completely cleaned out.”

In a reply to a tweet that suggested Twitter has started addressing the problem of CSE content on the platform, Elon Musk said it is the “priority #1”.

In an exclusive interview with Teslarati, Bleu said under Elon Musk, things are changing, but a lot of work is still to be done. Bleu further pointed out that when Musk took over Twitter, there was already a lawsuit against the social media platform in the matter. She explained how videos of two minors, plaintiffs in the case, were sexually exploited, and their videos were leaked on Twitter. The social media platform refused when the victims approached Twitter and begged to remove the content. The content that the now-adult victims wanted Twitter to remove gained over 1,67,000 views and 2,223 retweets.

Blue has been vocal against the CSE material on Twitter. She noted that until Musk took over, the platform was slower to remove most of the content. Speaking to Teslarati, Bleu said she was happy to see the new changes the platform has been implementing.

In a follow-up tweet, she noted that three of the “biggest hashtags used by child abusers selling child sexual abuse material on Twitter have virtually been eliminated”.

Calling it a huge development, Bleu further added, “To those who aren’t aware yet, last week Twitter did add a direct reporting option for child sexual exploitation. (ONLY on tweets with content images/videos) this was not previously available and was a separate form that wasn’t easy to find.”

She shared screenshots of the options added by Twitter to report CSE material directly. OpIndia confirmed that such options are indeed available. Notably, the options mentioned by Bleu only appear for tweets with media in the form of an image or a video. These two specific options, where you can specify the video contained “non-consensual nudity” followed by “Child sexual exploitation” in the next step, make it much easier to report such content. Here is how you can report CSE content on Twitter.

Please note that this process is for tweets that contain images or videos. First of all, click on the three dots in the top right corner of the tweet to open the dropdown menu. In the menu, click on “Report Tweet”.

Please go to OpIndia to see the reporting process.

Bleu pointed out the need for a separate tab for adults experiencing sexual exploitation. She said, “It needs to be crystal clear for both adults and children experiencing sexual exploitation, and the reporting options need to be separate.”

Hashtags are being removed from the platform

Several hashtags are allegedly used to sell CSE material on social media platforms. In a video shared by Teslarati, two attorneys, Lisa Haba and Peter Gentala, representing the victims in the case against Twitter, explained how such tags were being used.

OpIndia investigated a couple of hashtags known to be used in CSE content. A similar search was carried out by Teslarati as well. It was found that Twitter is removing the majority of the content. However, new accounts and content keep popping up that needs to be dealt with. Some accounts were seen posting requests for such content.

OpIndia also noticed that while some of the content was visible in the “top” tab, other tabs like “photos”, “videos”, and “latest” were either empty or had only a couple of tweets. Some of the hashtags were still in use but seeing the way Twitter is actively removing CSE content, it is very much possible that the engineers at Twitter will find a way to curb the new content effectively. It must be noted that such updates are coming at a time when some “experts” have claimed that in the lack of a moderation team at Twitter, it would be hard for the platform to moderate explicit content.

Speaking to Teslarati, Bleu said the predators on the social media platform would continue to use a variety of hashtags. However, the same hashtags could also help the authorities to catch criminals. Bleu said, “After years of advocating for the minor survivors of Twitter, I’ve never been as hopeful as I am right now. I don’t expect perfection from a platform. All I’ve ever wanted was to see a sense of urgency around such a serious matter. In many of these cases, this is a matter of life or death for each victim, so every second matters.”

Bleu mentioned in a tweet that curbing content for three prominent hashtags does not mean the fight was over. She said, “Some of the other hashtags (outside of the main three) are still actively engaging in sharing and posting illegal child exploitation. Please be mindful of this. It’s not over yet.”

It is notable that since October 2020, Twitter has had a separate section for reporting CSE content on the platform. However, as per experts like Bleu, minimal effort was made by the platform until Musk took over the company. In October 2022, OpIndia detailed how, under ex-Twitter employee Vijaya Gadde, who was removed soon after Musk took over along with other top officials, Twitter had refused to take down child porn content even as the victim begged to remove it. Gadde was head of legal, policy, and trust at Twitter. Her role included handling issues such as harassment, misinformation, and harmful speech. Her failure to address repeated requests to take action against CSE content was heavily criticised by experts, victims and the public in general. Not only Gadde’s department, other teams, including human rights etc., failed to address the issue.

As mentioned at the top, I had to find this story in India where two media outlets covered it. Not a single western media outlet has seen fit to cover it. This is how important child sex abuse is to mainstream media in the modern world.

We are drawing ever so much closer to Sodom. And, ever so much closer to the Lord returning to burn the Earth because of it.

Anyone wanting to make a difference is encouraged to go to protectchildren.ca and download the “Child Sexual Abuse – It Is Your Business” brochure from the Canadian Centre for Child Protection.  This is an important first step that can save a child.

We've seen this scenario before. It's always the children who pay for the immaturity and madness of adults.

Children aged nine, seven and four were 'blatantly abducted'

and taken to Libya by their father

A High Court judge has expressed concern about three children 'clandestinely' taken to Libya by their Libyan father - as their identities were revealed to help their mother's appeal to bring them home.

Mr Justice Peel said Khalid Aljehani, nine, and his sisters, Aasiyah, seven, and Maimunha, four, have been wrongly removed from the care of their mother Dawn Daley, 44, of Wythenshawe, Manchester, by Fares Aljehani.

He said the youngsters have been, 'on the face of it', victims of a 'blatant abduction'.

The children, who left Britain in July, are at the centre of private litigation in the Family Division of the High Court in London.

But judges involved have decided that restrictions - barring the children from being identified in media reports of that litigation - should be lifted.

They have given Ms Daley the go-ahead to launch a public appeal for help.

(Left to right) 4-year-old Maimunha Aljehani , 9-year-old Khalid Aljehani and 7-year-old Aasiya Aljehani have been wrongly removed by their father Fares Aljehani from the care of their mother Dawn Daley, of Wythenshawe in Manchester

A High Court judge has expressed concerns of the whereabouts of the children of Dawn Daley (left) and Fares Aljehani (right) after their father took them to Libya

Lawyers representing her have now launched an appeal in the hope that publicity will help get the children back to Britain.

They said Ms Daley and Mr Aljehani were married but estranged and involved in divorce proceedings.

Mr Justice Peel raised concern at a recent hearing.

'From everything I have read and heard it is apparent that (the children) have been wrongly removed from this country by their father in what was, on the face of it, a blatant abduction,' he said.

'Those children are now with their father and his family in Libya. 'The removal was under the ruse of a holiday which the father said he wished to take in England. 'Instead, he took them clandestinely to Libya.

'In so doing it seems to me that he acted unscrupulously and contrary to the needs of these children who have always lived in this country and have been in the primary care of their mother and attending school here.'

The judge said Mr Aljehani had been served with notification of legal proceedings, begun by Ms Daley, and his response had been to send a 'laughing emoji'.

'On the face of it, this father has perpetrated an act of great cruelty on these children and their mother,' added Mr Justice Peel.

'I would urge anybody who can do anything to assist the return of the children to this country to do so. That includes the father himself, his family and any judicial or other authorities in Libya who are minded to take appropriate steps.'

A solicitor representing Ms Daley called on Mr Aljehani to do the 'right thing'.

'We remain gravely concerned for all three children,' James Netto, who is based at the International Family Law Group, said.

'Ms Daley has had virtually no contact since their abduction from this country in the summer of 2022.'

Dawn Daley and her 7-year-old Aasiya Aljehani. Ms Daley has not seen her children in three months and is seeking the help of the public to locate them

He added: 'Christmas is approaching and with each day that passes, the more painful it is for the children and for their mother.'

Ms Daley said, in a statement released through lawyers, that she had to 'carry on'.

'It's been over three months now since I last heard from my babies,' she said. 'Three long hard months for me and all of my family.

'Some days are harder than others but I remind myself that I have no option but to carry on for the sake of myself and all of my children.

'Fares, I urge you to do the right thing and bring the children home where they belong.'

She added: 'I can only imagine what's going through their little minds. I could understand your doing what you have done if I ever restricted you having a relationship with them, but this is something I would never do as I believe children need both parents in their lives.'

'Monstrous' paedophile married couple who carried out campaign

of vile sexual abuse on a child under 13 are jailed

By OLIVIA JONES FOR MAILONLINE
PUBLISHED: 09:01 EST, 21 November 2022 |

A 'monstrous' couple who sexually abused a young girl have been jailed.

David Crapper, 38, and wife Kim, 39, convinced the child that their treatment of her was 'normal' and repeatedly took advantage of her.

The couple from Barry, Wales, were arrested after the victim, who is not named for legal reasons, told a friend about their behaviour.

Sentencing the pair at Cardiff Crown Court on Friday, Judge David Wynn Morgan said: 'It's hard to think of a more monstrous (offence).'

The court heard the abuse began when she was very young and went on for years.

David Crapper, 38, has been sentenced to 17 years imprisonment after pleading guilty to to sexual assault of a child under 13, sexual assault, causing/inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child, rape and causing a child to watch a sexual act

In her interview to police, the victim said when she told David Crapper 'no' he became angry and accused her of 'leading him on' and told her he could be put in prison.

He told her to sit on his lap and she saw him touching himself. He later touched her and made her touch him, and showed her pornography.

The victim said: 'I was confused by what he was saying and felt disgusted.'

The abuse escalated to David Crapper raping the victim and this happened repeatedly. David Crapper later told his wife about the abuse, who 'wanted to join in too'.

Kim Crapper started to sexually abuse the victim by touching her, was present when David Crapper raped the victim and had sex with her husband in front of the victim.

The Crappers were arrested by police after the victim reported the couple. David Crapper admitted raping and sexually abusing the victim. Kim Crapper also admitted abusing the victim.

The defendants pleaded guilty to sexual assault of a child under 13, sexual assault, causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, and engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child.

David Crapper also pleaded guilty to rape and causing a child to watch a sexual act.

Kim Crapper, 39, had said she 'wanted to join in too'. Kim Crapper, 39, started to sexually abuse the victim by touching her, was present when David Crapper raped the victim and had sex with her husband in front of the victim.

Susan Ferrier, for David Crapper, said there was 'little' to say in mitigation for her client.

She said he had admitted the offences and had prevented the victim from having to give evidence.

She said Crapper had 'fallen into distorted thinking patterns' and would have found it difficult to 'call time' on the abuse had the victim not contacted the police.

Ruth Smith, for Kim Crapper, said her client was in a 'controlling, toxic and abusive relationship' and felt 'powerless and helpless'.

She said Crapper was manipulated by her husband who 'drew her' into committing the abuse. She conceded that the victim would 'never get over' the actions of the defendants.

Judge Wynn Morgan said the physical harm caused to the victim was 'incalculable' and both the defendants had 'failed to exhibit true remorse'.

He sentenced David Crapper to 17 years imprisonment, with an extended four years on licence. Kim Crapper was sentenced to six years imprisonment, with an extended licence of three years.

Both will serve two-thirds of their sentence before being considered for parole.

The defendants were made subject to sex offender notification requirements and a sexual harm prevention order indefinitely.

There is no indication in this report of the relationship between the victim and the Crappers. I assume she was not their child or the Crappers would never have been named. Foster child? Relative? Neighbour?

This Week's USA Pervs and Pedos List > U of Idaho Massacre seems too familiar; Governor seeks pardon for family pedos; Ct. Man gets 13 years for CSAM

..

Crime expert says University of Idaho murder massacre is strikingly

similar to 'Gainesville Ripper' who butchered five women with a

military combat knife in 1990 and inspired Scream movies

A crime expert says the recent murders of four University of Idaho students remind him of the 'Gainesville Ripper' murders

Kaylee Goncalves, 21, Madison Mogen, 21, Xana Kernodle,  20, and Ethan Chapin, 20, were found stabbed to death on November 13 in Moscow, Idaho

Crime expert Joseph Scott Morgan recently told The Sun the Idaho murders remind him of the gruesome killings in Gainesville, Florida, in 1990

Over four days in August 1990, five students were brutally stabbed to death in Gainesville, Florida; one of them had her head decapitated

Danny Rolling, known as the 'Gainesville Ripper,' was widely credited with inspiring the popular 'Scream' franchise

What a world! Wildly successful horror movies inspired by the rape and murder of college students. Am I the only one who sees something wrong with this?

Gov. Baker seeks pardons for brother, sister convicted of

sexually abusing children at Malden daycare

(WFXT/Boston 25 News)

MALDEN, Mass. — Before he leaves office, Gov. Charlie Baker wants the Governor’s Council to revisit one of the nation’s most highly charged and disputed abuse cases of the 1980s with recommended pardons for Gerald “Tooky” Amirault and Cheryl Amirault Lefave, who were convicted of sexually abusing young children at their Malden day care.

The Amiraults were tried and convicted of child molestation in the Fells Acres abuse case of the mid-1980s, but Baker said Friday that the proceedings “took place without the benefit of scientific studies that have in the intervening years led to widespread adoption of investigative protocols designed to protect objectivity and reliability in the investigation of child sex abuse cases.”

The Amiraults have maintained their innocence.

“Given the absence of these protections in these cases, and like many others who have reviewed the record of these convictions over the years, including legal experts, social scientists and even several judges charged with reviewing the cases, I am left with grave doubt regarding the evidentiary strength of these convictions,” the governor said. “As measured by the standard we require of our system of justice, Gerald Amirault and Cheryl Amirault Lefave ought to be pardoned.”

Baker’s office included in its announcement of the pardons a statement of approval from former Attorney General Tom Reilly, who fought as Middlesex district attorney in the 1990s to keep the Amiraults and their mother in prison.

“While I stand behind the decisions made at the time by the prosecutors, judge, and jury, I believe the Governor’s decision is a fitting end to a very troubled case,” Reilly said.

Among those who questioned whether justice was truly served in the Amirault case was the late Barbara Anderson of Citizens for Limited Taxation, who wrote in her final newspaper column that Baker had “promised my friend Gerald Amirault and his family that getting Gerald off parole and his ankle bracelet would be a first order of business.” She said that Baker keeping his promise was her “dying wish.”

Instead, it appears to be his last order of business, and probably a good thing for Baker.

The governor on Friday also announced pardons for Brian Morin, Camille Joseph Chaisson, Michael Biagini and Robert Busa. He also commuted the first-degree murder sentence of Ramadan Shabazz to second-degree murder, which his office said makes the 72-year-old once sentenced to death immediately eligible for parole.

Baker said he hopes the Governor’s Council will “consider each of these cases carefully.”

Branford Sex Offender Sentenced to 13 Years in Prison for

Possessing & Distributing Child Sex Abuse Images

Department of Justice
U.S. Attorney’s Office
District of Connecticut
Tuesday, November 15, 2022

Vanessa Roberts Avery, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, announced that MICHAEL HOLM, 43, of Branford, was sentenced today by U.S. District Judge Kari A. Dooley in Bridgeport to 156 months of imprisonment, followed by 10 years of supervised release, for possessing child sex abuse images.

According to court documents and statements made in court, from approximately September 1, 2014 to March 8, 2021, Holm possessed images and videos of child pornography on his iPhone and in his online Dropbox account.  He also used various other websites and mobile applications, such as ChatStep, Kik, Discord, Skype, and others, to distribute child pornography to others, sometimes in exchange for child pornography in return.  A review of Holm’s iPhone and online accounts revealed that, during this time period, he possessed at least 142 unique image files and 118 unique video files of child pornography, including images and videos depicting the sexual abuse of infants and toddlers.

Holm engaged in some of this conduct while he was on federal supervised release for a prior child pornography offense.  In August 2011, Holm was sentenced to three months of imprisonment followed by five years of supervised release for possession of child pornography.

The penalties in this matter were enhanced based on Holm’s prior conviction.

Holm has been detained since his arrest on May 24, 2021.  On September 9, 2021, he pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography.

Judge Dooley ordered Holm to pay $29,000 in restitution to victims whose images he possessed and distributed.

This matter is being investigated by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Neeraj N. Patel and Katherine E. Boyles.

This prosecution is part of the U.S. Department of Justice’s Project Safe Childhood Initiative, which is aimed at protecting children from sexual abuse and exploitation.  For more information about Project Safe Childhood, please visit www.justice.gov/psc.
