Alabama man pleads guilty to charges of aggravated abuse, rape and sexual torture of foster and adopted children

So far, these two monsters are the worst parents of the year on this blog

WHNT

LAUDERDALE COUNTY, Ala. – A man facing dozens of child sex abuse charges has pleaded guilty. Daniel Wayne Spurgeon entered a guilty plea to 11 counts of aggravated child abuse, two counts first-degree rape of a child under 12, and one count of sexual torture Monday afternoon.

Spurgeon will be sentenced August 12 at 9 a.m. We understand the agreement states that Spurgeon will serve 20 years, the max sentence, for the child abuse charges and 25 years on the other counts.

Please - not to run concurrently! This monster should never be allowed to see the light of day ever again.

Daniel Wayne Spurgeon was transported from Florida back to the Shoals to face dozens of criminal charges which included rape, sodomy, and willful abuse of a child, for abusing foster and adopted children in Florence.

Daniel and his wife, Jenise Spurgeon, were approved foster parents, living in Florence until August of 2015.

A nine-page police report from Cape Coral, Florida is full of chilling statements by the foster children and adopted children of the Spurgeons. They describe in detail the sexual abuse they endured while living in the Spurgeon home.

This case broke on in July of 2016 when Cape Coral, Fla. Police were called to a fast-food restaurant for a report of intoxicated teens. When police arrived, three teenage children said their father had given them alcohol.

As investigators dove deeper, accounts of molestation and physical abuse surfaced. The children told officers Daniel Spurgeon would force the children to perform sexual acts.

Alabama DHR tells us the Spurgeons were approved to be foster parents in 2004. Jenise Spurgeon is accused of choking and smacking the children and keeping them from receiving health care. Jenise Spurgeon is set for a plea hearing on August 8.

Escambia County (Fla.) deputy arrested on
child sex abuse charge

Caution: Graphic details follow

Florida Department of Law Enforcement agents arrested an Escambia County Sheriff's Office deputy on charges of sexual battery of a child and battery of a child, Friday.

According to a FDLE release, 33-year-old Jerome Bernard Zaid of Pensacola is accused of victimizing at least two children under the age of 6, though agents believe  Zaid could have additional victims.

The alleged abuse started on or around October 2017 through July 21, 2019.

According to court documents, the child told an official at the Gulf Coast Kid's House that Zaid would urinate “a lot” in her mouth.

In the report, the child said that the abuse always took place in the bathroom and one time in her bedroom closet.

During one specific incident, the child told officials that Zaid told her to go behind the closet and “open it”, according to the report. The child went on to say she “spit the pee out” and brushed her teeth because Zaid instructed her to.

The victim said the last time something like that had happened she was five years old.

On July 25, a medical examination was completed on the victim at the Gulf Coast Kid's House. While there, officials asked the victim if Zaid’s “front part” touched her mouth. The victim states, “Yes it goes inside my mouth.”

FDLE sent a news release on Monday stating that at least two children under the age of six have been victimized by Zaid. Agents say they believe there may be more victims.

If anyone has any information about Zaid, they are asked to call the FDLE Pensacola Regional Operations Center at (850) 595-2100.

Zaid has been booked into the Escambia County Jail with no bond. He was employed as a deputy at the time of his arrest.

3rd suspect pleads in Michigan kidnap, sex abuse plot

COLDWATER, Mich. (WOOD)An Athens woman has admitted to her part in planning to kidnap and rape a child.

Jayme LaPointe pleaded guilty Monday morning to conspiracy to commit first-degree criminal sexual conduct and conspiracy to commit kidnapping. Under the terms of a plea agreement, a count of conspiracy to commit murder will be dismissed at sentencing.

She pleaded guilty earlier this month to first-degree criminal sexual conduct for sexually assaulting a 1-year-old in 2017.

Last year, she was arrested with three others after investigators say they plotted to kidnap, rape, torture and kill a child, though no such kidnapping ever actually happened.

Two of her co-defendants in conspiracy case — David Bailey of Coldwater and Talia Furman of Springfieldhave already taken plea deals and will be sentenced next month. The last co-defendant, Matthew Toole of Battle Creek, is expected to stand trial. Furman and Toole have already been sentenced to prison for their involvement in a child porn ring.

LaPointe will be sentenced Sept. 23 in both the conspiracy and child abuse cases. Her sentences will run concurrently.

‘He’s a predator probation can’t help,’ says mother of child abused by Ann Arbor man

By Nathan Clark | nclark1@mlive.com

ANN ARBOR, MI – Ian MacGregor being sentenced to five years of probation and a lifetime as a registered sex offender is of little comfort to a mother whose child was victimized around Christmas 2017.

“He’s a predator probation can’t help,” she said, upset MacGregor won’t see the inside of a jail cell. “He is a very well-loved man in the community and it feels like this is just swept under the rug. I don’t want to enable him to harm another child while being allowed to live across the street from an elementary school.”

MacGregor, 74, was sentenced, July 1 by Washtenaw County Trial Judge David Swartz to five years probation for inappropriately touching a minor in December 2017.

The mother’s name is being withheld to protect the identity of the child.

MacGregor was initially charged with two felony counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct with a person under 13, records show. He waived his preliminary examination and later pleaded no contest to a lesser charge of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct, a high court misdemeanor, records show.

Due to an amendment to the Michigan Sex Offender Registration Act, and pending changes to the act after federal courts found parts of it unconstitutional, MacGregor is allowed to live across the street from Ann Arbor’s Allen Elementary School.

Police and school officials met with community members days after the sentencing to discuss the situation and how the law allowed him to stay in his home.

Though MacGregor’s victim, a then 10-year-old girl, was not a student at the school nor a patient of his when he was an abuse counselor, the child’s mother feels allowing him to live so close to a school puts other children at risk.

“He wasn’t prosecuted for what he did, and he would have kept doing it if police weren’t called,” the mother said.

She said what started out as an innocent “pinch the butt” game between MacGregor and the girl quickly turned into inappropriate touching of the girl’s private parts.

After realizing how uncomfortable it made the girl, MacGregor asked her to “keep it their secret,” which did not last long, the mom said. The girl eventually told her mother what happened. “First I was in disbelief, then horror when (MacGregor) admitted in emails what had happened,” she said.

The girl, after initially talking about what happened with a therapist, was interviewed by Child Protective Services workers who contacted the Ann Arbor Police Department to investigate the sexual abuse.

The mother believes her daughter told her about MacGregor’s actions to protect another young girl who had contact with him, she said.

Children are so heroic. If only adults were.

MacGregor’s attorney, Joe Simon, stated previously MacGregor has suffered a series of serious medical issues over the last several years that have affected his health and memory, adding MacGregor does not pose a danger to the public and that his living arrangement is allowed under the law.

MacGregor’s plea allowed the girl to avoid having to testify in court.

While the mother is relieved her daughter didn’t have to relive what happened to her in court, she feels MacGregor has shown no remorse for his actions and has moved on with his life while her family is still in therapy, she said.

“We’ve gone from shock to horror through all of this and hopefully soon, we will be healing,” she said.

Brittany Zamora pleads for mercy with dad
of student she sexually abused
By Sara Dorn
NYPost

Brittany Zamora wipes away a tear after being sentenced to 20 years in prison in Maricopa County Superior Court in Phoenix on July 12. AP

The depraved Arizona elementary school teacher convicted of sexually abusing her 13-year-old student pleaded with the boy’s dad not to report her to police, according to audio footage released by the victim’s family.

“Can you explain to me, can we meet to talk about this?” Brittany Zamora can be heard begging in footage published by 3TV/CBS5 in Arizona. “Something we can settle outside?”

“Oh yeah, oh yeah that’s what we can do,” the sixth grader’s dad seethed. “So I can give you a chance to do it to some other kid.”

Incredibly, Zamora then puts her own husband on the phone.

“Your wife decided to be a monster and prey on a child,” said the victim’s father, who is not identified in news reports. “She scarred my son mentally. Do you understand what a 13-year-old boy did having sex with a teacher? Do you get that at all?”

Zamora’s husband apparently was in denial.

“I don’t think they had sex,” he said. “I don’t think they had sex.”

The boy’s father responded: “You’ll know the truth in a few short days.”

Investigators say Zamora had sex with the child three times last year between February 1 and March 8 on and off campus at Las Brisas Academy in the Phoenix suburb of Goodyear. In one incident, she allegedly performed oral sex on the boy inside the classroom. Students said the two were rumored to be “dating.”

Zamora pleaded guilty to sexual conduct with a minor, attempted molestation and public sexual indecency in June. She was sentenced to 20 years in prison earlier this month.

Wow! Female teachers usually get of a lot more lightly than that.

Harwood, MD, sex offender sentenced to 18 years in federal prison for possessing thousands of child sex abuse images
By CAPITAL GAZETTE STAFF

A convicted sex offender was sentenced to 18 years in federal prison Monday for collecting and distributing child pornography on the internet from his home in Harwood, federal prosecutors said.

John Patrick Dillon, 62, was convicted of transportation and possession of child pornography, as well as for illegal possession of firearms.

Dillon began searching the Internet for child pornography in 2015 and created a number of videos of the searches he ran and the pornography he viewed, the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Baltimore said in a statement released Monday afternoon. He saved the material to DVDs.

He also also uploaded child pornography images, which led to a cybertip being sent to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The center contacted the Maryland State Police, which began an investigation.

Law enforcement agents searched Dillon’s residence on April 26, 2018. They seized digital storage media, a desktop computer, and cellular phone. He was arrested the following week.

The devices later were found to contain 1,700 images and 320 videos of child pornography, including images documenting the sexual abuse of prepubescent minors, and sadistic, masochistic, and other depictions of violence.

In addition to the digital devices, law enforcement officers located and seized a .303-caliber rifle, two 12-gauge shotguns, a pistol, and 63 rounds of ammunition.

Dillon was convicted in Anne Arundel County in 1998 for sexual abuse of a minor and was sentenced to serve seven years in prison. He has been a registered sex offender since his release from state prison.

Because of that conviction, Dillon was prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition.

Federal sentences are served without the possibility of parole. Once Harwood (Dillon?) is released from prison, U.S. District Judge Deborah K. Chasanow ordered him to be supervised for the remainder of his life and continue to be registered as a sex offender. She ordered him to pay restitution of $1,000 to one of the child victims.

What is $1000 supposed to do? It'll get you a few counselling sessions, just enough to get you in trouble, then you're on your own.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse.

PA police officer accused of child sex abuse pleads guilty

by Caitlin Murphy

TOWANDA, PA. (WENY) – A former Canton Police officer facing child sex abuse charges has entered a guilty plea.

According to the Bradford County District Attorney's Office, 27-year-old Joshua Gleco pleaded guilty to two counts of Intercepting Communications, one count of Obscene Materials and one count of Corruption of Minors.

As WENY News reported, Pennsylvania State Police arrested Gleco (3rd story on link) following a 2018 investigation saying a 16-year-old girl was having sex with the then 26-year-old man. According to court documents, the two met while Gleco was on the job as a police officer.

After a forensic scan of Gleco's phone, investigators say they found multiple images showing Gleco and the victim kissing, as well as other images and multiple recordings of conversations on the phone. Investigators concluded the images found on the phone were suspected child pornography, due to the victim's age.

Investigators also found secretly recorded phone conversations involving local businesses, agencies, offices and the victim.

Gleco is scheduled to be sentenced on September 23.

It took him 44 years to reveal the sexual abuse. His attacker has confessed, Fla. cops say
BY MARK YOUNG

A 71-year-old Manatee County man has been charged with sexually abusing a child 44 years ago, according to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.

David Alan Probus, who was arrested Tuesday, had sexual contact with the victim while he was residing in his home in 1975 and the abuse continued for six months, according to a report.

Deputies say Probus was called to the sheriff’s office’s Crimes Against Children’s office on Tuesday where he admitted to abusing the victim. His age is not listed, but the report indicates his was in elementary school at the time.

Probus told deputies he would go into the victim’s bedroom “about every other night” to abuse the boy, according to the report. Probus admitted to knowing that what he was doing was wrong, according to the sheriff’s office.

The victim never told anyone about the abuse, but he recently revealed it to a relative who encouraged him to come forward, the sheriff’s office said.

Probus was booked into the Manatee County jail on a charge of force fondling a victim under the age of 12. He was being held without bond at the Manatee County jail.
