GLITTER'S OUT: Gary Glitter ‘treated like royalty’ in bail hostel

& ‘having his meals delivered to his private room’ after jail release

Published: 14:36, 4 Feb 2023

POP paedo Gary Glitter is infuriating other inmates at his bail hostel by having his meals delivered to him in his private room.

The pervert is said to be “really happy and upbeat” at the hostel following his release from HMP Verne in Dorset in the early hours of Friday morning.

Gary Glitter was released from jail yesterday.

Sources said Glitter was having his meals delivered to him by staff at the hostel - which has a garden which includes football goal posts, gym facilities and a smoking area.

It is positioned on a leafy street with around ten schools nearby.

One source said: "There's lifers in the hostel and they are angry Glitter is in there.

"Glitter is very happy. He's talking to people.  He’s upbeat. He needs to interact with people to get a chance to be released.

"He won't be going anywhere outside for a while. Other people did not get escorted into here and treated like royalty like he is being. "It's caused a lot of upset."

The serial child abuser, 78, was released under the cover of darkness at 1.25am on Friday. He had served just half of his 16-year sentence.

He was settled in and fitted with a GPS tag, before being reminded of his strict licence conditions.

They include abiding by a nightly curfew, a ban on working without prior approval, no travel outside the UK and no contact with the media.

He is also barred from living with anyone under the age of 18 and cannot go near schools, playgrounds or swimming pools.

Last night, sources hit out after he was allowed out under automatic release rules.

One said: “By law, officials’ hands were completely tied. He had to be released at the halfway point of his sentence.

“But Glitter simply hasn’t engaged properly with the treatment he was offered inside. He attended the sessions but made it quite clear he wasn’t interested. It was like a naughty kid staring out of the window throughout class.

“If a dangerous sex offender refuses to engage, surely they’re just not fit for release?”

VICTIM'S FURY

Last night one of his victims said of his release:  “It’s hit me really hard. I can’t believe this is happening to me. I just can’t do this anymore.

“He should never been let out of prison for what he did. He’s just done eight years but I’m doing a life sentence.

“I can never forget what this monster did to me and I’m still struggling to deal with it. I really believe that he is still a danger to society. Who knows what he could go on  to do?”

Glitter, whose real name is Paul Gadd, has been categorised as a level 3 offender.

Last night, a Ministry of Justice spokesman said: “Sex offenders like Paul Gadd are closely monitored by the police and Probation Service and face some of the strictest licence conditions including being fitted with a GPS tag.

“If the offender breaches these conditions at any point, they can go back behind bars.

“We’ve already introduced tougher sentences for the worst offenders and ended the automatic halfway release for serious crimes.”

And, yet, without participating in the anti-pervert program in prison, he still qualified for release at half-time. How does that make any sense?

Glitter was one of the UK’s biggest glam rock stars of the 1970s and a familiar face on BBC TV chart show Top of the Pops.

He had a string of hits including three UK No 1 singles: I’m the Leader of the Gang (I Am!), I Love You Love Me Love and Always Yours.

GLITTER'S DOWNFALL

Glitter’s fall from grace began in 1997 when he took a laptop into a Bristol branch of PC World for repair and an engineer found child abuse images on the hard drive.

Two years later the singer was jailed for four months after a total of 4,000 images were found by police in a subsequent investigation.

He emigrated on release, before being kicked out of Cambodia in 2002 amid claims of committing sex crimes.

Four years later he was jailed in neighbouring Vietnam for molesting two girls, one aged just ten.

He escaped serious charges of child rape — which carried a death sentence — and returned to the  UK in 2008.

Glitter was forced to sign the sex offender register but he was arrested once again in 2012 at his multimillion-pound home in Westminster.

Police would later describe him as a “habitual sexual predator who took advantage of the star status afforded to him."

And in 2015 he was convicted of attempted rape, four counts of indecent assault and one of having sex with a girl under 13 in the 1970s and 1980s.

Sentencing him, Judge Alistair McCreath said he could find no real evidence that Glitter had atoned for his crimes.

The judge said: “It is difficult to overstate the depravity of this dreadful behaviour.

"You did all of the victims real and lasting damage and you did so for no other reason than to obtain sexual gratification for yourself of a wholly improper kind.”

Glitter no longer owns the master rights to his songs — meaning he no longer receives any royalties.

In 2019, his song Rock and Roll Part 2 featured in movie The Joker but rights holders insisted he would not receive any royalties.

Mason Greenwood has charges of attempted rape and assault

DROPPED more than a year after Man Utd star was arrested

Richard Moriarty, Holly Christodoulou, The Sun
Published: 14:01, 2 Feb 2023, Updated: 17:14, 2 Feb 2023

MASON Greenwood today had all charges of attempted rape, assault and coercive control against him dropped.

The Manchester United striker, 21, was first arrested in January last year after police swooped on his mansion.

Greenwood was due to stand trial in November accused of attempted rape, assault and coercive control.

The Crown Prosecution today confirmed they had dropped all charges against him.

A spokesperson said: “We have a duty to keep cases under continuous review.

“In this case a combination of the withdrawal of key witnesses and new material that came to light meant there was no longer a realistic prospect of conviction.

"In these circumstances, we are under a duty to stop the case.

How thoroughly did they investigate the withdrawal of the key witnesses, I wonder?

“We have explained our decision to all parties.

“We would always encourage any potential victims to come forward and report to police and we will prosecute wherever our legal test is met.”

Greenwood last appeared in court in November where a trial date was set for November 23 this year.

The alleged offences related to one woman and were said to have taken place between November 1, 2018, and October 15, 2022.

Greenwood was accused of "repeatedly engaging" in controlling and coercive behaviour for almost four years - including making threats and derogatory comments on social media.

He was also charged with attempting to rape the woman on October 21, 2021, and allegedly assaulted her between December 12, 2021, and December 31, 2021.

The footballer was originally remanded in custody after being charged by police on October 15. But a judge released him on the condition he does not contact witnesses, including the complainant, and resides at an address in Bowdon.

The striker also spent three nights in custody after he was arrested at his £15,000-a-month rented home in Trafford last January.

He was suspended from Utd but still received his £75,000-a-week salary.

Greenwood was removed from FIFA 22 and dropped by sponsors Nike in the wake of the allegations.

Football Manager 2022 also confirmed he would not feature in the game.

All merchandise bearing the No11's name was axed from the official Utd site and teammates unfollowed him on Instagram.

Greenwood last played for the Red Devils on January 22 last year when the team beat West Ham 1-0.

The player joined the club aged just six and rose through the ranks to land himself a regular spot on the first team.

In 2019, he became the youngest footballer to play for United in the Champions League when he took to the pitch aged 17.

Greenwood has made 129 appearances in total for the Red Devils and netted 35 goals.

In 2020, England manager Gareth Southgate gave the striker his first cap when Greenwood came off the bench in a 1-0 win against Iceland.

Greenwood missed out on last year's Three Lions' World Cup campaign in Qatar as the case went to court.

Utd have not yet released a statement following the development.

Chief Superintendent Michaela Kerr, GMP’s Head of Public Protection, said today: "The investigation team has remained in regular contact with the legal team, providing any updates of note, and so understand the rationale for the discontinuation of proceedings at this stage, and that this decision has not been taken lightly.

"Despite the media and public’s interest in this case, we have decided not to comment on it in any further detail.

“I would, however, like to use this opportunity to reiterate GMP’s commitment to investigating allegations of violence against women and girls and supporting those affected, regardless of their circumstances, throughout what can be a hard and upsetting time for them.

"An ever increasing number of officers are receiving specialist training and the force is more consistently utilising tools, available via the criminal justice system, to keep people safe and care for victims.

“If you feel you are or might be a victim, please don’t let this case put you off asking for help.”

Greenwood joined Man Utd aged six to play for the club's development school in Halifax, West Yorkshire. He progressed through to join the under-18 squad for the 2017-18 season.

Greenwood then made his first-team competetive debut as an 87th minute substitute in the team's 3-1 win against PSG in the Champions League in March 2019.

And his first goal for the club came in their Europa League opener against Kazakh side Astana in September 2019.

In total he has had 83 professional appearances with the team, scoring 22 goals.

He began as a midfielder but gradually moved towards being a centre forward, often playing on the right flank for Man Utd.

Greenwood also represented England's under-17 team and made six appearances in 2017-18.

It should be interesting to see what happens now.

Judge cites ‘publicity’ in dismissing Nick Kyrgios’ assault charge

after guilty plea

By Post Wire Report
February 3, 2023 12:21am  Updated

Tennis star Nick Kyrgios pled guilty to assaulting ex-girlfriend Chiara Passari during an argument in 2021, but a judge in Canberra, Australia dismissed the charge – citing, among other things, the “publicity” the trial garnered.

Magistrate Jane Campbell said that the case did not warrant a conviction despite the guilty plea, and that the publicity of the trial, the time that had elapsed since the incident and the fact that Kyrgios did not appear to be a risk of re-offending factored into her decision.

In the incident, Kyrgios pushed Passari to the ground as she stood in the door of an Uber outside her apartment in Canberra, trying to prevent the 2022 Wimbledon runner-up from leaving. He reportedly told her to “piss off” and “leave me the f*** alone” as she asked him to get out of the car.

Passari reported the incident months later after a brief reconciliation.

Kyrgios had suffered severe depression, suicidal ideation and insomnia in the past, a psychologist told a court on Friday when the Australian tennis star pleaded guilty.

Campbell did not record a conviction against Kyrgios for reasons including that the offense was at the low end of seriousness for a common assault, and was not premeditated.

Campbell described it as an act of “stupidity” and “frustration.”

It sounds like she is his defence counsel.

Kyrgios’ psychologist, Sam Borenstein, said in a written report and testimony by phone that Kyrgios had suffered major depressive episodes in the past and had used alcohol and drugs to cope. Kyrgios’mental health led to impulsive and reckless behavior.

Did his mental health lead to such behaviour, or was it the alcohol and drugs?

and insomnia during their relationship.

His knee injury this month had resulted in mild to moderate symptoms of depression, but his mental health was improving, Borenstein said.

“He’s doing very well,” Borenstein said. “His mental health has improved significantly.”

Lawyers for Kyrgios had sought to have an assault charge stemming from events two years ago dismissed on mental health grounds but the application was unsuccessful.

In February last year, Kyrgios opened up about his performance at the 2019 Australian Open, saying what appeared to be a positive time in his life had been “one of my darkest periods.”

“I was lonely, depressed, negative, abusing alcohol, drugs, pushed away family and friends,” he wrote on Instagram. “I felt as if I couldn’t talk or trust anyone. This was a result of not opening up and refusing to lean on my loved ones and simply just push myself little by little to be positive.”

Kyrgios made further references to his mental health struggles during his runs to the final at Wimbledon and the quarterfinals at the US Open.

After ending Daniil Medvedev’s US Open title defense in September last year to reach the quarterfinals, Kyrgios expressed pride at lifting himself out of “some really tough situations, mentally” and “some really scary places” off the court.

Perverted Lives of the Rich and Famous > Gary Glitter to be Released from Prison; Pam Anderson - Tommy Lee's Sex Tape

Warning: Creep Alert

Disgraced glam rock paedo Gary Glitter will be released from prison

in days

DISGRACED glam rock singer Gary Glitter will be released from prison within a few days — but will not be able to disappear abroad.

The pop paedophile, 78, will have just three days to register his name with his local police station and will risk being sent back to jail if he fails to attend.

He will also have to wear a tag and tell cops if he begins a relationship with someone who has a child under 18

He must tell officers seven days in advance of any foreign travel, give details of his destination, any onward travel to another country and duration of stay.

Officers can veto a trip if they believe there is a risk of further offences taking place.

Glitter was able to travel to Cambodia and Vietnam despite a conviction for possessing 4,000 child abuse images in 1999. He served two years for child abuse in Vietnam.

A charity working with dangerous sex offenders will mobilise a group of up to six volunteers to be on hand 24 hours a day for Glitter so he does not feel lonely after leaving prison next month.

Wouldn't it be nice for his victims to get such treatment?

The aim is to make him feel safe and not tempted to slip back into offending.

I could suggest another method!

Glitter — real name Paul Gadd — owns a house in London. He had a string of chart hits in the 1970s. The Sun revealed last year that he was being readied for release after serving half of his 16-year jail sentence — imposed in 2015 for abuse offences.

Because he was sentenced to a determinate term — a fixed period that cannot be reviewed — his case will not go before the Parole Board.

Pamela Anderson’s son ‘wishes she made money’

off the Tommy Lee sex tape

By Erin Keller
January 30, 2023 1:18pm  Updated

Brandon Thomas Lee, one of Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee’s two sons, said he “wishes” his mom “made money” off of the couple’s infamous stolen sex tape.

In Anderson’s Netflix documentary, “Pamela, A Love Story,” which drops on Tuesday and was produced by Brandon, the 26-year-old claimed “things would have been different if she had made money on that tape,” but said she chose not to in an attempt to protect her family.

Anderson, 55, and Lee, 60, married in 1995 after just four days of dating. That same year, their tape was stolen from a safe in their garage by electrician and carpenter Rand Gauthier, who then sold it off.

That fiasco was the subject of Hulu’s 2022 series “Pam & Tommy” which Anderson claimed to know nothing about until she saw an advertisement for it.

Brandon Thomas Lee, 26, produced his mother Pamela Anderson’s Netflix documentary.
FilmMagic

“But people made millions of dollars and she was like ‘no’ because she 100% cared about her family being OK and me being OK,” Brandon said in the doc, according to Entertainment Tonight.

“I wish she would have made the money. She would have made millions of dollars if she had just signed the paper,” he said. “Instead she sat back with nothing and watched her career fizzle into thin air. She was in debt most of her life.”

Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee were married from 1995 to 1998 and had two sons: Brandon, 26, and Dylan, 25.
WireImage

Brandon continued to explain that growing up, he “always thought everyone knew things about me and my family that they really shouldn’t have known, and everyone had this dirty little secret about my family.”

He added that he would “fight” any one of his peers that mentioned his mother. Anderson claimed that she wanted to tell Brandon and their other son Dylan, 25, about the tape when they were “age-appropriate,” but Brandon beat her to it when he came home from school and questioned why she made the tape.

“Really, we didn’t make a sex tape,” she recalled telling him, while also understanding that “a tape of your parents having sex is a whole new level.”

So, the question is, why was it necessary in the first place, and why would it be better if she made money off it.

One of the reasons why we don't make sex videos is because our children will grow up and find them.

Pedophile pop star Gary Glitter to be freed from prison

after serving half his sentence

Disgraced English pop star and convicted pedophile Gary Glitter is set to be released from prison in the coming weeks after serving just half of his 16-year sentence for sexually abusing three young girls, according to a report.

Glitter, born Paul Francis Gadd, could be freed as early as February for his model behavior, a Ministry of Justice source told The Sun.

The depraved 78-year-old rose to prominence as a glam-rock star in the 1970s and 80s known for his wild live performances, but fell from grace after he was convicted of downloading child pornography in 1999.

According to The Sun, the “Do You Wanna Touch Me” singer still has millions of dollars left in his bank accounts and owns an apartment in London where he could live after his release.

His case will not have to go before a parole board, who can block a prisoner’s release if they find that they still pose a threat to the public, because he was sentenced to a determinate term, The Sun reported.

“Glitter has kept his nose clean in prison and toed the line and now his sentence is almost over,” sources told the paper.

“The nature of his determinate sentence means the case won’t go to the Parole Board,” the sources added, which means “as soon as his sentence is over, he is free to walk out of the prison gates.”

The parole board confirmed that Glitter would have to wear a tag upon his release.

Glitter was busted by UK authorities in 2015 for sexually abusing three girls.

Glitter was convicted with having sex with a minor in Vietnam in 2006 and spent three years in jail there. He was deported to the UK where he registered as a sex offender.

In 2015 Gliter was found guilty of attempting to rape an eight year old, having sex with a girl under 13, and four counts molesting another minor girl. The offenses occurred between 1975 and 1980.

“It is difficult to overstate the depravity of this dreadful behavior,” Judge Alistair McCreath said at his sentencing, adding that he wished he could put Glitter behind bars for longer, but was constrained by sentencing restrictions for crimes committed in the 1970s.

One of Glitter’s Vietnamese victims, Diem, whom he abused when she was just 10 years old in 2006, told The Sun she believes the singer will always remain a threat.

“He will always be a terrible danger to young girls. It’s terrifying to think he might soon be free, even though he is on the other side of the world from me,” she said.

The singer’s 1972 hit “Rock and Roll Part 2” was featured in the 2019 movie “The Joker.”

Harvey Weinstein is found GUILTY of 3 sex-related counts

in Los Angeles court

Disgraced Hollywood mogul is acquitted for sexual battery but jury is still HUNG

on 3 other counts against him

By ALEX HAMMER FOR DAILYMAIL.COM
PUBLISHED: 18:52 EST, 19 December 2022 |

Harvey Weinstein has been found guilty of one count of rape and two counts of sexual assault, nearly three years after the already convicted movie mogul was sentenced for similar crimes in New York City.

The disgraced Hollywood mogul, 70, was acquitted of one count of sexual battery, but the jury is still hung on three other counts against him.

Weinstein did not audibly react but he folded his hands and pressed them to his head as the guilty verdicts were read.

The case, brought by four women, contained five sexual assault charges for incidents that transpired in LA county between 2004 and 2013, including two counts of forcible rape.

Bound in a wheelchair for the proceedings, Weinstein had already been found guilty in February 2020 of two felonies — third-degree rape and criminal sexual act in the first degree.

Harvey Weinstein has been found guilty of one count of rape and two counts of sexual assault, nearly three years after the already convicted movie mogul was sentenced for similar crimes in New York City

Other allegations leveled against the producer - who until recently had been touted as 'The Most Powerful Man in Hollywood' -  include forcible oral copulation, sexual battery by restraint, and sexual penetration by use of force, all allegedly carried out between 2004 and 2013.

His four accusers included multiple then-aspiring models and a masseuse employed by Weinstein - all delivered emotional testimonies recounting their alleged abuse over the past month. Among them was the wife of current California Governor Gavin Newsom, Jennifer Siebel Newsom, who argues Weinstein raped her during an encounter in 2005.

Earlier in the month, prosecutors revealed that the accuser known in court as Jane Doe 5, who alleged she was raped and forced to give oral sex to the then movie mogul on two separate occasions in 2009 and 2010, would not be appearing to testify.

One of the four accusers, 29-year-old- known as Jane Doe 2 in court. An aspiring model looking into acting and screenwriting when she was allegedly assaulted by Weinstein, Young alleges that during a 2013 meeting about a script, the mogul groped and masturbated in front of her

'I was scared of Harvey Weinstein - that he would hurt me, or send someone to hurt me, or ruin my career, or make my life hell,' (xxxxx) said during an emotional testimony earlier in the month

What's more, the attorneys revealed that the counts would no longer be pursued, and would not detail a reason for the last-minute shift.

Those remaining include an unidentified Russian, Italy-based model, labeled Jane Doe 1, who claims she was sexually assaulted by Weinstein in 2013, and forced to perform oral sex as he had difficulty maintaining an erection.

He won't have any difficulty maintaining an erection in Hell. Getting rid of it will be the problem. There is a good chance that that is what "Burning in Hell" is really all about - "Where the worm never dies!"

The first witness called to the stand, Jane Doe 1 faced a heated line of questioning from Weinstein's legal team back in October, with the defense accusing her of lying - arguing that at the time of the alleged incident, Weinstein's testicles had been surgically relocated to his inner thighs.

Weinstein was today found guilty of rape and sexual assault of all counts related to Jane Doe 1.

'I was trying to do what he wanted,' the unidentified accuser said, conceding that Weinstein had 'problems with testicles' while remaining adamant she never changed her story about the assault.

A third accuser, a licensed massage therapist known only as Jane Doe 3, was hired by Weinstein in May of 2010 for a massage, during which she said Weinstein trapped her, groped her, and masturbated in front of her, in an incident very similar to the one recounted by (xxxxx).

Gucci and Harry Styles slammed for ‘sick’ ad with child’s bed

Harry Styles, 28, and Gucci are facing backlash for a recent ad campaign.
Instagram/@gucci

Harry Styles and Gucci are facing a backlash as the result of a T-shirt and photos from the “As It Was” singer’s “HA HA HA” Gucci campaign ad.

In the photos posted to the fashion house’s Instagram account last week, the 28-year-old, who has worked with Gucci for years, holds and stands in front of what appears to be a child-size mattress while modeling a shirt with an angry-looking pink teddy bear on it.

“I want more berries and that summer feeling,” the shirt reads, borrowing a lyric from his Grammy-winning 2019 song “Watermelon Sugar.”

The Gucci photos arrive just weeks after Balenciaga’s recent controversial campaign in which children were pictured with BDSM-style teddy bears. Another photo included papers from a Supreme Court case that upheld part of a federal child pornography law sitting under a handbag.

“A performance piece starring Harry Styles and the Gucci HA HA HA collection. Discover the campaign at the link in bio,” Gucci captioned their new photos on Instagram.

“The House presents the Gucci HA HA HA campaign featuring British singer-songwriter and actor, Harry Styles,” Gucci added on its website. “Arising from the friendship between him and creative director Alessandro Michele, play is at the very heart of the collection, which uses menswear as a tool of the avant-garde.

“Captured by Mark Borthwick, the series of images sees Harry Styles showcase the ‘dream wardrobe’ defined by the eccentric use of romantic accents, whimsical prints, vintage details, and the expressive emotionality of the individual,” the Gucci site concludes.

"Dream wardrobe" looks more like a nightmare. You can read the rest of this story, if you are so inclined, at the NYPost. I would have thought Styles had lots of money - I wonder how much he sold his soul for. Gucci and Balenciaga need to go bankrupt.

The disgraced former Radio 1 DJ Chris Denning has been jailed for 13 years for child sex abuse and even “offered” one boy to another BBC presenter.

Denning, 75, used his fame to groom and sexually assault dozens of young victims in the 1960s, 70s and 80s. He took some of the boys to London on several occasions and introduced them to other celebrities, including Gary Glitter.

Denning, one of Radio 1’s founding presenters, was sentenced to 13 years in prison at Southwark crown court in London for abusing 11 boys, some as young as eight.

Judge Alistair McCreath said the impact on the victims was “devastating”. He described the offences as “utterly depraved”, adding: “It is not to be forgotten that all of this suffering was inflicted by you for nothing other than your own selfish pleasure.”

Denning previously pleaded guilty to 21 sexual offences, including indecent assault and inciting boys to commit acts of gross indecency. He is already serving a 13-year jail sentence for a catalogue of sexual assaults against 24 victims, including one allegedly at Jimmy Savile’s house.

McCreath said the latest sentence would start from Friday. He told the defendant: “You groomed all of these boys. They were for the most part in their early teens, although some were younger. You used your own fame, your acquaintance with others who were famous, your familiarity with the music industry … to win their trust and misplaced admiration.”

Denning lured boys into his house and plied them with records, alcohol and cigarettes. He showed them pornography before forcing them to perform sex acts on him and photographed them naked. He also took one of the victims to the Walton Hop Disco, which ran from 1958 until 2001.

Jonathan Polnay, prosecuting, said: “Denning would take one of his victims out for pizza. He also took him on holiday, on tours of radio stations and let him stay at his bungalow.

“On one of those occasions, in the bungalow, another well-known Radio 1 DJ was present and Denning offered the victim to him. The other DJ replied he didn’t do that sort of thing.”

He promised another boy that he could use his connections to get him into the music industry and convinced him to pose naked for a photo shoot, the prosecutor said.

He offered one of his victims a job at a disco and repeatedly had the boy sleep at his house afterwards, where he would abuse him. Polnay said: “Denning took him to London, where he introduced him as ‘one of my friends’ to Gary Glitter.”

The defendant showed no emotion as two of his victims, now in their 50s, spoke of how the abuse continued to affect them.

David Burgess, defending, said Denning suffered from “various ailments” and could die before the end of his sentence. “His past has caught up with him, we are talking about events over 40 years ago. He is very sorry, he has expressed that before,” he said.

Denning did not react as the sentence was imposed.

American Executive Gets 10 Years in Cambodia for Sex with 5 Year Old

An American aviation executive has been
sentenced to a decade in jail in Cambodia
for sexually abusing girls as young as five

Brian Naswall, the founder and CEO of Aero Cambodia, was arrested last year, reportedly in the act of abusing three underage girls, and was accused by nine victims between the ages of five and 16.

Naswall, 53, denied the charges during his trial in Phnom Penh’s Municipal Court and claimed the case was fabricated, but was found guilty on Tuesday of engaging in child prostitution.

Action Pour Les Enfants (APLE), a non-governmental organization that hunts down suspected foreign pedophiles in Cambodia, said Naswall was arrested by Tonle Basac police in May 2015.

At the time, the organization, claimed, he was engaging in sex with a 12-year-old girl in the presence of two other underage girls.

APLE said Naswall lured the girls to a quiet place surrounding Koh Pich Island and sexually abused them with the promise to pay them up to $20.

After he was arrested, Cambodia’s Anti-Human Trafficking and Juvenile Protection Department took over the investigation. APLE said it helped police to identify more victims.

‘Six other victims had disclosed that they had been sexually exploited on different occasions,’ the organization said in a statement. ‘Finally, police had concluded a total of nine victims.’

Naswall, 53, was sentenced to 10 years in prison and ordered to pay $12,000 in compensation to his victims

A member of his legal team said he would appeal the ruling.

On his LinkedIn profile, Naswall described himself as a part-time pilot and world traveler.

He claimed to have worked as a locomotive engineer who operated trains in Oregon, Washington, Montana, California and Idaho in the US, British Columbia in Canada, Thailand, Cambodia and Mexico.

Naswall’s sentence is the latest effort by officials in the impoverished nation in Southeast Asia to punish pedophiles who travel from abroad and prey on children.

Vando Khoem, the program director of APLE, called for Naswall to be deported after he serves his sentence.

‘I applaud the decision of the court. However, I express my heartfelt disappointment that the court didn’t order his deportation,’ Khoem said. ‘Without deportation, he would exploit an opportunity to be here to prey on Cambodian children. Deportation should be made automatically.’

Cambodia’s grim reputation as a child sex hub attracted global attention in 2002 when British glam rocker and serial pedophile Gary Glitter was deported over suspected sexual offences.

The country launched a drive in 2003 to shed its reputation as a haven for foreign pedophiles.

Dozens of foreigners have since been prosecuted for child sex crimes but there are still wide gaps in policing.

A landmark study released last month by a coalition of nearly 70 child protection agencies looking at child sex abuse around the world said that while some successes have been made in Southeast Asia, pedophilia remains an ‘enduring phenomenon that has plagued the region for several decades’.
