BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD (WBFF) — A Baltimore County softball coach pleaded guilty Monday to sexually abusing one of his then-17-year-old players, who was also the daughter of one of his employees. Michael J. Pusateri, a 60-year-old Nottingham resident, was indicted last September on 37 charges, almost half of them felonies, and then again at the federal level in January. Scheduled for trial this week in the county case, the volunteer coach pleaded guilty to one of the five sexual abuse of a minor counts issued against him. As a result, the remaining 36 charges were dismissed. A sentencing hearing is scheduled Thursday morning at the Baltimore County Circuit Court. He faces a maximum sentence of 25 years in prison.
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WSPA) — A former deputy has been sentenced in a child exploitation case that occurred in multiple states, including South Carolina.
The US Attorney’s Office for the District of South Carolina reported that 27-year-old Johnathan Nathaniel Allen, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, has been sentenced to 25 years in federal prison for producing child sexual abuse material.
The investigation revealed that Allen caused eight children from across the country to produce child sexual abuse material by posing as a child on social media and enticing the children to engage in sex acts on video.
He did so while serving as a sheriff’s deputy in Tennessee, where he has worked since 2021.
The investigation began when a father in South Carolina found concerning text messages on his 13-year-old daughter’s cell phone and called the police.
The York County Sheriff’s Office and the FBI determined that Allen was posing as a 14-year-old boy named “Josh” on internet-based accounts, which he used to exploit minors.
Allen used the social media platforms Instagram and Reddit, the messaging platform TextMe, and the gaming platform Roblox to target, recruit, and exploit children by causing them to produce and share child sexual abuse material.
Investigators said the defendant posed as a child, pressured minors to produce sexually explicit material, and threatened to share the intimate images of one child if she refused to communicate with him.
Allen manipulated his minor victims by telling them he loved them, that they were beautiful, that he was proud of them, and that he would never do anything to harm them.
It was reported that one minor rejected his request for sexual content eight times, but Allen persisted and caused the minor to speak with him on the phone using a virtual number on the TextMe platform.
During that call, he pressured the child into producing child sexual abuse material.
Allen asked one minor to engage in sex acts with a dog, and Allen attempted to recruit the minor’s cousins, friends and family to engage in sex acts with the minor. The minor described Allen “begging” for sexual content, and one minor was in tears during the production because she did not want to produce the content.
Allen told the minor he was proud of her and that he had taught her something new. He then directed the minor to delete content so that no one else would see it. One father recovered deleted content and provided it to law enforcement.
Agents searched Allen’s home and recovered his phone, which had Reddit, TextMe, the fake “Josh” identity, and child sexual abuse material.
Agents also found communications on Allens’ phone with the South Carolina minor, including calls to the minor after York County had seized the minor’s phone. Agents found clothes in Allen’s bedroom that “Josh” was wearing in explicit images sent to a minor, and one of the pictures shared by “Josh” on Reddit was a picture of Allen when he was younger.
Allen’s confirmed victims resided in South Carolina, Georgia, Kansas, Missouri and New York, and they were as young as sixth grade.
His 25 years’ imprisonment is to be followed by a 15-year term of court-ordered supervision. There is no parole in the federal system.
Allen was also ordered to pay $3,000 in restitution to the victim, plus an additional $4,000 to a victim services fund.
He will be required to register as a sex offender.

MOUNT VERNON – A prominent Mount Vernon youth basketball coach pleaded guilty to sexually abusing a child under 13 over five months, the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office said.
Dwayne Murray, 63, of Mount Vernon, pleaded guilty Friday in Westchester County Court to first-degree course of sexual conduct against a child, a Class B violent felony.
Murray is expected to be sentenced Nov. 17 to 18 years in state prison followed by 20 years of post-release supervision. He also will be required to register as a sex offender.

Murray was arrested May 14, 2025, after the District Attorney’s Office received a tip alleging child sexual abuse. The investigation included interviews with witnesses, the victim and Murray, as well as searches of electronic devices.
Authorities said sexually inappropriate text messages between Murray and the victim were found on the devices. Murray also admitted his involvement during an interview with investigators.

In the 13 years I have been doing this blog, there is rarely a week, and never a month, that goes by where some male daycare worker isn't charged with child sex abuse involving the children he cares for. Men and teenage boys should never be involved in caring for other people's children. It should be made illegal.

VERNON HILLS, Ill. (WLS) -- North suburban police are searching for a coach accused of sexually abusing a 12-year-old softball player.
Vernon Hills police said 54-year-old Hoffman Estates man Eduardo "Eddie" Acosta-Gonzalezis charged with two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse. If convicted, he faces up to 15 years in prison for each count.
Based on a referral from the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services, police investigated Eddie Acosta's conduct while he served as the child's softball hitting coach at a Vernon Hills sports performance center where he had rented space.
Police said their efforts to find and arrest Acosta have been unsuccessful, and he may have left the state. Known youth programs affiliated with Acosta were notified about the investigation, but whether he continues to have access to juvenile athletes was not immediately clear.
"This investigation remains very much active," Vernon Hills Deputy Chief Shannon Holubetz said.
Holubetz said there were two incidents earlier this spring and summer. Acosta allegedly massaged the young girl and touched her chest and groin.
"We are extraordinarily grateful for this victim coming forward. It's hard enough for the average person to do, let alone a child," Holubetz said.
A warrant for Acosta's arrest was issued last Friday.
"We are actively working on several leads right now and working to get him taken into custody," Holubetz said.
The parking lot at Gorilla Baseball Academy was nearly empty on Friday. Owner Jason Dolenga confirmed he is aware of the investigation and said he learned of it last week.
"I revoked [Acosta's] access to the building that same day," Dolenga wrote in a statement to ABC7. "[Acosta] has no ongoing role with Gorilla Baseball Academy or Gorilla Baseball Club and will not return."
Dolenga characterized Acosta as "an outside instructor who rented space."
"Any time an adult uses a position of trust or authority to cultivate an inappropriate relationship, it's a matter of grave concern to us," Holubetz said.
Witness statements also suggest Acosta may have acted inappropriately with other underage athletes, police said. He is believed to have offered private coaching throughout the Chicago area, but he was known to train and coach most recently in Vernon Hills and Wauconda.
Police encouraged parents of athletes trained by Acosta to speak with their children and report suspicious conduct to police. Vernon Hills police asked anyone with information to contact the Investigations Division at 847-918-5605 or via email at pdtips@vhills.org.
"[If] you feel as though anything inappropriate or illegal happened, we want to hear from you," Holubetz said. "We have investigators standing by. You will be heard."
