Texas mom accused of choking teen daughter for

KINGWOOD, TX – A Kingwood mother accused of beating and choking her daughter when the teen did not wear her hijab in a social media post, has three years of community service ahead of her.

Sittarh Khan is accused of beating, choking, and burning her 14-year-old daughter in October of last year. She was upset with her for not wearing her hijab and overcooking pita bread, according to Harris County prosecutors….

“The defendant, upset the complainant did not wear her hijab at school, beat and choked the complainant, causing her to lose consciousness,” the hearing officer said during Khan’s probable cause hearing shortly after her arrest….

The injury to a child charge stems from an incident over pita bread. Khan allegedly got upset about the bread being overcooked and “forced the complainant’s arm onto a hot oven rack, causing her to have three burn marks,” the hearing officer said.

Khan’s plea agreement includes deferred adjudication for three years. During that time, she has to complete 100 hours of community service, donate $100 to the Houston Food Bank, cannot use drugs or alcohol and must attend a 4-hour anger management class.

A 4 hour class to undo whatever Islam has done to her is like a flea trying to stop a raging elephant. The photo above reveals the loveless stare of a bitter woman who, unfortunately, is trying to make her daughter turn out just like her. God help that poor girl and the millions like her.

The daughter is the victim here, but it is hard not to have sympathy for Sittarh Mazhar Khan, who was likely treating her daughter the way she herself was treated when she was a teenager. The abuse of women is hard-wired into Islamic texts, and so has gone on unchallenged for generations.

The Qur’an teaches that men are superior to women and should beat those from whom they “fear disobedience”: “Men have authority over women because Allah has made the one superior to the other, and because they spend their wealth to maintain them. Good women are obedient. They guard their unseen parts because Allah has guarded them. As for those from whom you fear disobedience, admonish them and send them to beds apart and beat them.” — Qur’an 4:34

Muhammad’s child bride, Aisha, says in a hadith that Muhammad “struck me on the chest which caused me pain, and then said: ‘Did you think that Allah and His Apostle would deal unjustly with you?’” — Sahih Muslim 2127

An another hadith states: “Rifa`a divorced his wife whereupon `AbdurRahman bin Az-Zubair Al-Qurazi married her. `Aisha said that the lady (came), wearing a green veil (and complained to her (Aisha) of her husband and showed her a green spot on her skin caused by beating). It was the habit of ladies to support each other, so when Allah’s Messenger came, Aisha said, ‘I have not seen any woman suffering as much as the believing women. Look! Her skin is greener than her clothes!’” — Sahih Bukhari 7.77.5825

Indian Couple Flew to Florida to ‘Discipline’ Daughter-in-Law

Police in Florida have rescued a woman from abusive in-laws who reportedly flew all the way from India to help their son "counsel and discipline" his wife. This allegedly involved beatings, confiscating her phone, and holding a knife to her throat.

Jasbir Kalsi, 67, and his wife Bhupinder, 62, reportedly flew the 8,000 miles (13,000km) from the Punjab region of India to Hillsborough County, Florida approximately one month ago to help ‘resolve’ marital troubles between their son Devbir and his wife, Silky Gaind.

"I am so scared, because he was telling me he was going to kill me if I call the police. He told me it would take 10 minutes for police to come and before that he would kill me and then kill himself," Gaind, 33, said in a court appearance Sunday, as cited by Bay News 9 in Tampa.

“I am very scared of my husband. He tried to kill me. Last time it was attempt to murder, so I am very scared for me and my daughter,” she added.

Following a tip from an unnamed friend of the victim’s family in India, sheriff’s deputies called to the family’s home on Saturday morning.

Deputies were ignored at first, but Gaind "screamed for the deputy to save her and her child," then tried to open the door, fighting off her in-laws in the process, reports the The Tampa Bay Times, citing the Sheriff’s office.

After calling for backup, one deputy then forced his way inside, where he encountered Gaind "badly beaten and bruised over her entire body."  

In the course of their investigation, deputies determined that Gaind and her child were held against their will, her phone had been confiscated so she couldn’t call 911, and her father-in-law even held a knife against her throat during an argument the previous night.

The extent of her injuries indicated that she had suffered physical abuse over an extended period of time, the sheriff’s office said.  

Devbir Kalsi was charged with false imprisonment, felony battery, child abuse, and denying access to 911. His bond was set at $325,000.  

His father Jasbir Kalsi was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, false imprisonment, child abuse, and denying access to 911. He was also given a $325,000 bond.  

Bhupinder Kalsi is charged with battery domestic violence and failure to report child abuse.

The three have been barred from contacting the victim and have been ordered to surrender their passports.

And hopefully, 'barred from contacting her' will be enough to keep them from killing her, but I doubt it!

One of Britain’s best-known bishops faced controversy last night after it emerged his diocese refused to punish two leading priests in a new church child sex abuse row.

The London diocese, headed by the Bishop of London Richard Chartres – the third most senior Church of England cleric – faced a call by the bishop’s own independent inquiry to consider punishing two priests criticised after a trainee vicar raped two Christian girls.

But the diocese did not take any action, saying it could cause further upset to the victims.

Oxford-educated Timothy Storey was jailed for 15 years last April after a court heard how he groomed hundreds of children on Facebook, using his position as children’s pastor to prey on ‘weak, insecure girls’.

Judge Philip Katz lambasted the ‘utterly incompetent failure’ of ‘arrogant’ church leaders to protect young girls – and accused them of a cover-up. Bishop Chartres apologised and set up an independent inquiry into the scandal. 

The Mail on Sunday has established that it was concluded five months ago.

Its full contents were kept secret, but this newspaper can reveal the inquiry said both clerics should face disciplinary action – even though both had already been removed from their children’s supervisory roles. 

We can also disclose that the two clerics – identified in the report only as ‘clergy person A and B’ – are the Reverend Hugh Valentine and the Reverend Jeremy Crossley. 

Valentine was Bishop Chartres’s adviser on child protection during Storey’s reign of terror. The Storey trial judge criticised his ‘arrogance’ in refusing to give evidence.

Valentine has carried on as curate at St James’s Church, Westminster. In his sermon last Sunday, entitled Sexuality And Bishops, he accused the Church of treating gays and lesbians like ‘embarrassing relations’ and said religion had helped breed ‘hatred’, including ‘homophobia, misogyny and racism’.

Valentine also works for a young person’s charity, the Walcot Foundation. Crossley was Bishop Chartres’s director of ordinands, and is Rector at St Margaret Lothbury Church in the City of London.

During Storey’s trial, Judge Katz said the diocese was ‘stone deaf’ to complaints from the victims of self-confessed sex addict Storey, and ‘shamefully’ tried to shift the blame to police. Some of its leaders ‘seemed to be worried about the reputational damage to the diocese’.

Police praised the media for finally bringing Storey to justice.

The review ordered by Bishop Chartres said the Church should ‘consider an investigation under the Clergy Disciplinary Measure’ (CDM) into Valentine and Crossley. It said the Church must face ‘the consequences’ of its blunders.

A spokesman for the diocese said: ‘Legal analysis concluded there were not sufficient grounds to pursue complaints under the CDM and any failed process would cause further pain to survivors.’

The survivors are in pain and will continue to be in pain for some time. Allowing Valentine and Crossley to continue as though nothing happened will do nothing but add to that pain. It appears the church does not understand this because the church is still putting the church above the children. It seems they do not know that the church is the people and covering up or ignoring the suffering of the people is hurting the church. Has the Church of England learned nothing in the child sex abuse scandals rocking Britain and Australia?

The decision followed an assessment by the diocesan safeguarding team, not the bishop.

A number of boys have reportedly been filmed having sex with a 15-year-old schoolgirl in the bathrooms of a Florida high school.

Some 25 boys were seen going in and out of the toilets at South Fort Myers High School in Florida at the time, although the number who allegedly had sex with the girl was unclear.

The age of consent in Floria is 18, although since 2007 the law has made provisions for 16 and 17-year-olds to consent to have sex with someone aged 16 to 23. However no one is believed to have been arrested or to be pressing charges over the incident.

Footage of what happened was allegedly filmed by students who are believed to have used the app Snapchat, which can take up to 10 seconds of video. The film, which automatically deletes after it is seen, was then passed around among the students.

Student Petislin Cadeau told Fox4News: “Like, how did it happen? Like, where was everybody at?

““I heard a video was around but I never really saw it or anything. It just like circulated around.”

The school did not comment on which students had been involved, although it did confirm disciplinary action had been taken.

Brock University Students Demand Resignations in Sexual Harassment Case

Protest follows CBC News investigation into university handling of sexual harassment finding

About 60 people attended a demonstration Tuesday at Brock University, demanding action after a CBC News investigation revealed the university attempted to silence a student who was sexually harassed by a professor.  

"Shame on Brock," they chanted, many waving signs. "We want justice!"

The students said their demands include that the accused professor resign, the administrator who handled the complaint resign and that the university hire a dedicated sexual assault administrator.

University president Jack Lightstone came to the demonstration and accepted a signed statement from students.

A CBC investigation last week revealed that Brock had warned a former student to keep quiet about an internal investigation that determined her professor, David Schimmelpenninck van der Oye, gave her alcohol and tried to force himself on her sexually.

After the story was published, the university said that a professor who was found to have sexually harassed one of his students late one night in his office is no longer "assigned to a class and is not on campus."

Carissa Taylor, one of the student organizers, said she was "horrified" by the situation.

"It's our view that as soon as an investigation was launched and a complaint was made, he should've been off with pay to ensure that the campus was a safe working and learning environment for people who go here," she said. 

"Once the investigation found that he was in fact guilty, the university should've taken very quick actions to make sure that he was properly penalized."

Schimmelpenninck van der Oye told the investigator hired by Brock that he was too drunk to remember what had happened, but in the end the final report confirmed the allegations made by the student and recommended the professor face discipline.

CBC News asked Schimmelpenninck van der Oye for an interview, but he did not return emails.

University responds

On Tuesday, the university formally responded to the student protest.

"Public demonstrations like the one that took place at Brock University today help raise awareness of the need for more effective ways of helping survivors of sexual harassment and violence," the university said in a statement.

"Universities are no more immune to these types of incidents than any other workplace in Canada."

The university said its sexual assault committee is "developing a new stand-alone policy" focused on sexual harassment and violence.

"Brock has been receptive to, and mindful of, all concerns raised about how we have responded to this issue, and the university will be reviewing its current policies and processes," the university said.

Asked whether the university would terminate the professor or whether he would resign, Lightstone said, "I'm not going to answer that."

'I have to go give my voice to it as well'

Ashley-Rose Cliffe, a student at nearby Niagara College, was among the protesters.

"[Administrators] always want to just stay silent and pretend it doesn't happen," she said. "And when I got off the bus from school today I saw it and I was like you know what, 'Enough's enough. I have to go give my voice to it as well.'"

The students who organized the demonstration said in a statement that they demand the updated policy be "student-centred" and address "power imbalances."

"The policy and procedures should be made accessible to students, including clear guidelines about who to speak with and possible outcomes of complaints," they said.

"We feel let down by Brock's response to this case, but believe that by implementing our demands, Brock can once again become a leader in challenging sexual assault and rape culture on university campuses."
